BACKGROUND Embolic superior mesenteric artery(SMA) occlusion is associated with high mortality rates. Delayed treatment often leads to serious consequences, including intestinal necrosis, resection, and even patient death. Endovascular repair is being introduced, which can improve clinical symptoms and prognosis and decrease the incidence of exploratory laparotomy. Many reports have described successful endovascular revascularization of embolic SMA occlusion. However,most of those reports are case reports, and there are few reports on Chinese patients. In this paper, we describe the technical and clinical outcomes of aspiration therapy using a guiding catheter and long sheath technique which facilitates the endovascular repair *** To evaluate the complications, feasibility, effectiveness, and safety of endovascular treatment for the acute embolic occlusion of the *** This retrospective study reviewed eight patients(six males and two females)from August 2013 to October 2018 at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University. The patients presented with acute embolic occlusion of the SMA on admission and were initially diagnosed by computed tomography angiography(CTA). The patients who underwent endovascular treatment with a guiding catheter had no obvious evidence of bowel infarct. No intestinal necrosis was identified by gastrointestinal surgeons through peritoneal puncture or CTA. This study embarks on an explorative investigation into the effects of typical concentrations and varying particle sizes of fine grits(FG,the involatile portion of suspended solids)and fine debris(FD,the volatile yet unbiodegradable fraction of suspended solids)within the influent on themixed liquor volatile suspended solids(MLVSS)/mixed liquor suspended solids(MLSS)ratio of an activated sludge *** meticulous experimentation,it was discerned that the addition of FG or FD,the particle size of FG,and the concentration of FD bore no substantial impact on the pollutant removal efficiency(denoted by the removal rate of COD and ammonia nitrogen)under constant operational ***,a notable decrease in the MLVSS/MLSS ratio was observed with a typical FG concentration of 20 mg/L,with smaller FG particle sizes exacerbating this ***,variations in FD concentrations influenced both MLSS andMLVSS/MLSS ratios;a higher FD concentration led to an increased MLSS and a reduced MLVSS/MLSS ratio,indicating FD accumulation in the system.A predictive model for MLVSS/MLSS was constructed based on quality balance calculations,offering a tool for foreseeing the MLVSS/MLSS ratio under stable long-term influent conditions of FG and *** model,validated using data from the BXH wastewater treatment plant(WWTP),showcased remarkable accuracy.

Dear Editor,This letter deals with the stabilization problem of nonlinear stochastic systems via self-triggered impulsive control(STIC), where the timing of impulsive control actions is not dependent on continuous state monitoring. In contrast to the existing self-triggered control method, novel self-triggered mechanism(STM) is proposed by incorporating a waiting time for stabilizing impulses. This allows for direct prediction of the next impulsive instant.

Background: Postherpetic neuralgia(PHN) is the most common complication of herpes zoster infection and affects patients' quality of life. Acupuncture therapy is regarded as a competitive method of treatment for analgesia. Objective: To summarize evidence from systematic reviews(SRs) and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of different acupuncture therapies for treating PHN. Methods: Eight electronic databases were searched from their inception to August 5, 2022, including 4 international electronic databases(PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science) and 4 Chinese databases(Chinese Biomedical Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database and Wanfang Database).Methodological quality was assessed by A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews 2(AMSTAR 2).The Risk of Bias in Systematic Review(ROBIS) tool was used to assess the risk of bias in SRs. Evidence level was assessed by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation(GRADE)approach. Results: Totally, 7 SRs were included, including 128 studies and 9,792 patients. In AMSTAR 2, most of the SRs were of low or critically low levels since they had more than 1 critical deficiency. In ROBIS, 1 SR(14.29%)was rated as high risk, and the other 6(85.71%) were rated as low risk. In the GRADE system, 9 outcomes(28.13%)were valued as high level, 5(15.63%) as moderate level, 1(3.13%) as low, and 17(53.13%) as very low. In the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy, the group "moxibustion vs. original medical treatment" [mean difference(MD)=–1.44, 95% confidence interval(CI): –1.80 to –1.08, I2=99%, P<0.00001] was of the highest heterogeneity and the group "bloodletting vs. original medical treatment"(MD=–2.80, 95% CI: –3.14 to –2.46, I2=0, P<0.00001)was of the lowest heterogeneity. Non-Hermitian dynamics exhibits a wealth of surprising and potentially useful phenomena. However, it is typically realized by coupling a system with thermal reservoirs, which makes the system suffer from thermal fluctuations associated with the dissipation. Here, we propose a dissipation-free approach to realize non-Hermitian dynamics using a superconducting circuit composed of two resonators and a superconducting qutrit. The non-Hermiticity arises in the dynamical matrix for the evolution of the two resonators in the Heisenberg picture, via a photon-number non-conserved dynamics. The energy spectrum of the non-Hermitian dynamical matrix can be retrieved by measuring the state of the two resonators, and a phase transition of the energy spectrum can be observed by varying the control parameters. In the realization of the non-Hermitian dynamics, the dissipation of the system and the post-selection are not required. Thus, the approach is implemented in a deterministic way, and the reservoir-induced noise is suppressed. Numerical simulations indicate that the energy spectrum of the non-Hermitian dynamical matrix obtained via the measurement of the resonators is in accordance with the theoretical prediction. Moreover, we demonstrate the parity discrimination for the state of two four-level qudits as an application, exhibiting the potential of the non-Hermitian dynamics in the field of quantum measurement. This work opens a new avenue for the realization of non-Hermitian dynamics and may have a significant implication in exploring the non-Hermitian phenomena.

AIM:To test the effect of autophagy on inflammatory damage resulting from oxidative stress in adult retinal pigment epithelial cell line(ARPE-19).METHODS:ARPE-19 cells were pretreated with 200 and 600μmol/L hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))at various time *** changes of cell morphology,cell viability,reactive oxygen species(ROS)level,autophagic activity,and the inflammatory cytokines(TNFα,IL-6,and TGFβ)were measured at baseline and after treatment with autophagy inducer rapamycin(Rapa)and suppressor wortmannin(Wort)or ***:The levels of ROS,cytokines(TNFα,IL-6,and TGFβ),and autophagic activity were significantly increased in ARPE-19 cells after pretreated with H2O2(all P<0.05)and IL-10 was significantly decreased(P<0.05).By upregulating autophagy,Rapa significantly reduced oxidative stress-induced secretion of pro-inflammatory factors(TNFα and IL-6)and ROS(all P<0.05),yet elevated the production of TGFβ(P<0.05).In contrast,suppression of autophagy through Wort or ATG5 knockdown reduced cell viability,increased cell apoptotic rate,and exacerbated the generation of ROS and inflammatory cytokines(TNFα,IL-6,and TGFβ;all P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Autophagy demonstrates a protective effect on ARPE-19 cell through mitigating oxidative damage and oxidative stress-induced inflammatory *** of autophagy may be a potential way for agerelated macular degeneration.
