Numerical investigation of flow with floating vegetation island

Floating vegetation island(FVI)provides an effective way to remove excessive nutrition and pollutants in *** Reynolds stress model(RSM)is employed to investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics induced by varied canopy densities of FVI in an open *** longitudinal direction,four regions are subdivided according to the flow development process:upstream adjustment region(LUD),diverging flow region(LDF),shear layer growth region(LSD),and flilly developed *** increasing canopy density accelerates the flow adjustment in the diverging flow region and shear layer growth region,signaling a shorter distance to reach an equilibrium stage,while LUD keeps a *** vertical profiles of the normalized velocity are found to be self-similar downstream of the diverging flow *** the vertical direction,the streamwise velocity profiles in the mixing layer collapse for all densities and obey the hyperbolic tangent *** penetration depth into the canopy was fitted as a function of dimensionless canopy density given by δc/hc=0.404(CDahc)^-*** finding indicates a large space for rapid water renewal between the canopy region and the underlying water driven by the shear-scale *** the lateral direction,the intensification of secondary current and the increasing number of secondary current cells with increasing canopy density reveal that dense floating canopies contribute to strong momentum *** centers of vortices move as canopy density increases,while the vortices in canopy region do not merge with those in the gap region,as limited by the height and width of the canopy *** distribution of longitudinal velocity in the transects is significantly influenced by secondary current.

Application of a microscopic optical potential of chiral effective field theory in (p, d) transfer reactions

The microscopic global nucleon–nucleus optical model potential(OMP)proposed by Whitehead,Lim,and Holt,the WLH potential(Whitehead et al.,Phys Rev Lett 127:182502,2021),which was constructed in the framework of many-body per-turbation theory with state-of-the-art nuclear interactions from chiral effective field theory(EFT),was tested with(p,d)transfer reactions calculated using adiabatic wave *** target nuclei included both stable and unstable nuclei,and the incident energies reached 200 *** results were compared with experimental data and predictions using the phenomenological global optical potential of Koning and Delaroche,the KD02 ***,we found that the micro-scopic WLH potential described the(p,d)reaction angular distributions similarly to the phenomenological KD02 potential;however,the former was slightly better than the latter for radioactive *** average,the obtained spectroscopic factors(SFs)using both microscopic and phenomenological potentials were similar when the incident energies were below approxi-mately 120 ***,their difference tended to increase at higher incident energies,which was particularly apparent for the doubly magic target nucleus 40Ca.

Preparation and characterization of high-reactivity explosive-based nano-boron microspheres

Boron nanoparticles,with their remarkably high gravimetric and volumetric calorific values,emerge as the most promising fuel in energetic ***,challenges such as susceptibility to oxidation,high ignition temperature,and low combustion efficiency have constrained their further *** this study,we fabricated high explosives based nano-boron microspheres with uniform size using the electrostatic spray method,in which the boron nanoparticles and high explosives(CL-20 or PETN)are closely bonded together by fluorinated polymer(F2602)and evenly *** results indicated that the microspheres exhibited high sphericity and showed an enhanced antioxidant *** addition of high-energy explosives not only reduced the thermal oxidation temperature of nano-boron powder within the microspheres but also significantly enhanced the pressurization ***,the microspheres with added high-energy explosives released more energy during the combustion *** to physically mixed samples,electrostatically sprayed microspheres with a uniform microstructure still exhibited higher ***,the design and synthesis of microspheres with controllable structures using the electrostatic spray method show promising application prospects.

In this paper,we analyze the relationship between the equilibrium reinsurance strategy and the tail of the distribution of the *** Mean Residual Life(MRL)has a close relationship with the tail of the distribution,we consider two classes of risk distributions,Decreasing Mean Residual Life(DMRL)and Increasing Mean Residual Life(IMRL)distributions,which can be used to classify light-tailed and heavy-tailed distributions,*** assume that the underlying risk process is modelled by the classical CramérLundberg model *** the mean-variance criterion,by solving the extended Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation,we derive the equilibrium reinsurance strategy for the insurer and the reinsurer under DMRL and IMRL,***,we analyze how to choose the reinsurance premium to make the insurer and the reinsurer agree with the same reinsurance *** find that under the case of DMRL,if the distribution and the risk aversions satisfy certain conditions,the insurer and the reinsurer can adopt a reinsurance premium to agree on a reinsurance strategy,and under the case of IMRL,the insurer and the reinsurer can only agree with each other that the insurer do not purchase the reinsurance.

Pulsar search is always the basis of pulsar navigation,gravitational wave detection and other research ***,the volume of pulsar candidates collected by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)shows an explosive growth rate that has brought challenges for its pulsar candidate filtering ***,the multi-view heterogeneous data and class imbalance between true pulsars and non-pulsar candidates have negative effects on traditional single-modal supervised classification *** this study,a multi-modal and semi-supervised learning based on a pulsar candidate sifting algorithm is presented,which adopts a hybrid ensemble clustering scheme of density-based and partition-based methods combined with a feature-level fusion strategy for input data and a data partition strategy for *** on both High Time Resolution Universe SurveyⅡ(HTRU2)and actual FAST observation data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm could excellently identify pulsars:On HTRU2,the precision and recall rates of its parallel mode reach0.981 and 0.988 *** FAST data,those of its parallel mode reach 0.891 and 0.961,meanwhile,the running time also significantly decreases with the increment of parallel nodes within ***,we can conclude that our algorithm could be a feasible idea for large scale pulsar candidate sifting for FAST drift scan observation.

Alzheimer's disease(AD) is a progressive and degenerative neurological disease characterized by the deterioration of cognitive functions. While a definitive cure and optimal medication to impede disease progression are currently unavailable, a plethora of studies have highlighted the potential advantages of exercise rehabilitation for managing this condition. Those studies show that exercise rehabilitation can enhance cognitive function and improve the quality of life for individuals affected by AD. Therefore, exercise rehabilitation has been regarded as one of the most important strategies for managing patients with AD. Herein, we provide a comprehensive analysis of the currently available findings on exercise rehabilitation in patients with AD, with a focus on the exercise types which have shown efficacy when implemented alone or combined with other treatment methods, as well as the potential mechanisms underlying these positive effects. Specifically, we explain how exercise may improve the brain microenvironment and neuronal plasticity. In conclusion, exercise is a cost-effective intervention to enhance cognitive performance and improve quality of life in patients with mild to moderate cognitive dysfunction. Therefore, it can potentially become both a physical activity and a tailored intervention. This review may aid the development of more effective and individualized treatment strategies to address the challenges imposed by this debilitating disease, especially in low-and middle-income countries.

Tailoring crystallization zinc hydroxide sulfates growth towards stable zinc deposition chemistry

The unstable zinc anode/electrolyte interface induced by corrosion,interfacial water splitting reaction,and dendrite growth seriously degrades the performances of metal Zn anode in aqueous ***,the nucleation and growth of zinc hydroxide sulfate(ZHS),an interfacial by-product,has been tailored by Tween 80 in the electrolyte,which thereby assists in in-situ forming a dense solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)with small-sized ZHS and evenly distributed Tween *** SEI has high corrosion resistance and uniform distribution of zinc ions,which not only contributes to blocking the interfacial side reactions but also induces stable and calm zinc plating/***,the modified electrolyte can confer the assembled Zn||Zn symmetric cell with a stable operation life over 1500 h at 1 mA·cm^(−2)and 1 mAh·cm^(−2)as well as the practical Zn||NH4V4O10 full battery with a high-rate capacity of 120 mAh·g^(−1)at the current density of 5 A·g^(−1).This work provides a way for regulating and reusing interfacial by-products,and a new sight on stabilization electrodes/electrolyte interfaces.

Modelling and validation of flash flood inundation in drylands

In the context of climate change and human activities,flood disasters in arid mountainous areas have become increasingly frequent,and seriously threatened the safety of people's lives and *** and accurate flash flood inundation modelling is an essential foundational research area,which can aid in the reduction of casualties and the minimization of disaster losses;however,this modelling is also very difficult,and models need to be urgently developed to address flash flood forecasting and *** objective of this study is to construct a numerical modelling method for flash floods in *** on a 2D high-resolution flood numerical model(Flood Map-Hydro Inundation2D),we hindcasted the dynamic process of flash flooding and show the spatio-temporal characteristics of flash flood inundation for the“8·18”flash flood disaster that occurred in Datong county,Qinghai *** results showed that the model output effectively agreed with the observed inundation after the event in terms of both spatial extent and temporal *** flooding mainly occurred between 00:00 and 01:00 on August 18,***,Hejiazhuang and Longwo villages were affected most *** further conducted model sensitivity analysis and found that the model was highly sensitive to both roughness and hydraulic conductivity in drylands,and the effect of hydraulic conductivity was more *** study confirmed the good performance of our model for the simulation of flash flooding in arid areas and provides a potential method for flash flood assessment and management in arid areas.
