Evaluation of the osseointegration of dental implants coated with calcium carbonate:an animal study

In an attempt to overcome the limitations of titanium in dental and orthopaedic clinical applications, a new method has been developed to prepare calcium carbonate coatings on sandblasted and acid-etched （SA） titanium implants. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of calcium carbonate-SA （CC-SA） implants on osseointegration in vivo. The surfaces of SA and CC-SA implants were characterised for surface morphology and surface chemistry. Subsequently, these two kinds of implants were implanted in the femoral condyles of rabbits. The implants were retrieved and prepared for histological and histomorphometric evaluation 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks after implantation. Significantly higher values of bone-to-implant contact of the entire implant except the gap area （BIC_ALL） and the bone-to-implant contact of the gap area （BIC_GAP） were found in animals with the CC-SA implants than in those with the SA implants at 4 weeks. Higher values of total gap bone were found in those with the CC-SA implants than in those with the SA implants at 1, 2 and 4 weeks. In conclusion, the current findings demonstrate that the calcium carbonate coating can improve and accelerate the early ingrowth of bone and osseointegration at the early healine phase. This may reduce clinical healinE times and thus improve implant success rates.

MYH9 has dual functions in ***,its role in inducing tumor stemness in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is not yet ***,we found that MYH9 is an effective promoter of tumor stemness that facilitates hepatocellular carcinoma ***,targeting MYH9 remarkably improved the survival of hepatocellular carcinoma-bearing mice and promoted sorafenib sensitivity of hepatocellular carcinoma cells in *** analysis suggested that MYH9 interacted with GSK3βand reduced its protein expression by ubiquitin-mediated degradation,which therefore dysregulated theβ-catenin destruction complex and induced the downstream tumor stemness phenotype,epithelial–mesenchymal transition,and c-Jun signaling in HCC.C-Jun transcriptionally stimulated MYH9 expression and formed an MYH9/GSK3β/β-catenin/c-Jun feedback loop.X protein is a hepatitis B virus(HBV)-encoded key oncogenic protein that promotes HCC ***,we observed that HBV X protein(HBX)interacted with MYH9 and induced its expression by modulating GSK3β/β-catenin/c-Jun *** MYH9 blocked HBX-induced GSK3βubiquitination to activate theβ-catenin destruction complex and suppressed cancer stemness and *** on TCGA database analysis,MYH9 was found to be elevated and conferred poor prognosis for hepatocellular carcinoma *** clinical samples,high MYH9 expression levels predicted poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma *** findings identify the suppression of MYH9 as an alternative approach for the effective eradication of CSC properties to inhibit cancer migration,invasion,growth,and sorafenib resistance in HCC *** study demonstrated that MYH9 is a crucial therapeutic target in HCC.

Fractional anisotropy of the corticospinal tract in normal adults: Preliminary study using a diffusion tensor imaging technique

BACKGROUND： The corticospinal tract is an important tract for conducting motor function. The majority of studies focus on lesions of the corticospinal tract on appearance and function, whereas observation of normal corticospinal pathways can also improve understanding of lesion outcomes. OBJECTIVE： To observe the normal adult corticospinal tract using a diffusion tensor imaging technique to analyze fractional anisotropy （FA） in different levels of the brain. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： Neuroimaging observation was performed in the MRI Department, First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical College in China, from October 2005 to October 2008. PARTICIPANTS： A total of 30 healthy adults were selected from the Department of MRI, First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical College in China, from October 2005 to October 2008, and people with nervous system symptoms and signs were excluded. METHODS： Participants with normal conventional MRI results underwent diffusion tensor imaging examination in a 1.5 T GE MRI （slice thickness 4-5 mm, slice gap 0） for gradient data acquisition from 15 directions. The scanning involved the entire brain from the inferior medulla oblongata to the inferior cranial plate. Imaging post-processing was performed to obtain FA values; a paired t-test was applied for statistical analysis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： FA values of the bilateral corticospinal tract in the medulla oblongata, pons, cerebral peduncle, basal ganglia, corona radiata, and centrum semiovale. RESULTS： FA values in the medulla oblongata and centrum semiovale were similar （P 〉 0.01）. FA values of left corticospinal tract were significantly greater than the right side in the pons, cerebral peduncle, basal ganglia and corona radiata （P 〈 0.01）. CONCLUSION： FA values vary by brain levels, including pons, cerebral peduncle, basal ganglia, and corona radiata. Moreover, FA values of the left corticospinal tract pathway were greater than the right side, which may relate to right handedness

Transition metal-based nanomaterials have emerged as promising electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction（OER）. Considerable research efforts have shown that self-reconstruction occurs on these nanomaterials under operating conditions of OER process. However, most of them undergo incomplete reconstruction with limited thickness of reconstruction layer, leading to low component utilization and arduous exploration of real catalytic mechanism. Herein, we identify the dynamic behaviors in complete reconstruction of Co-based complexes during OER. The hollow phytic acid（PA） cross-linked CoFe-based complex nanoboxes with porous nanowalls are designed because of their good electrolyte penetration and mass transport ability, in favor of the fast and complete reconstruction. A series of experiment characterizations demonstrate that the reconstruction process includes the fast substitution of PA by OH-to form Co（Fe）(OH)xand subsequent potential-driven oxidation to Co（Fe）OOH. The obtained CoFeOOH delivers a low overpotential of 290 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2and a long-term *** experiment results together with theory calculations reveal that the Fe incorporation can result in the electron rearrangement of reconstructed CoFeOOH and optimization of their electronic structure,accounting for the enhanced OER activity. The work provides new insights into complete reconstruction of metal-based complexes during OER and offers guidelines for rational design of high-performance electrocatalysts.

Subgrade construction is frequently interrupted due to precipitation,soil shortage,and environmental ***,increasing the thickness layer is required to reduce construction costs and to allow highways to be placed into service *** paper presents a series of full-scale field experiments evaluating the compaction quality of gravel subgrade with large-thickness layers of 65 cm and 80 cm using heavy vibratory *** improved sand cone method was first proposed and calibrated to investigate the distribution of soil compaction degree across the full subgrade *** showed that dynamic soil stresses caused by the heavy vibratory rollers were 2.4–5.9 times larger than those of traditional rollers,especially at deeper depths,which were large enough to densify the soils to the full depth.A unified empirical formula was proposed to determine the vertical distribution of dynamic soil stresses caused by roller *** was demonstrated that soils were effectively compacted in a uniform fashion with respect to the full depth to 96.0%–97.2%and 94.1%–95.4%for the large-thickness layers of 65 cm and 80 cm within 6 or 7 passes,***,linear formulae were finally established between soil compaction degree and the subgrade reaction modulus,dynamic modulus of deformation,dynamic deflection,and relative difference of settlement to conveniently evaluate the compaction *** is demonstrated that increasing the thickness layer by means of heavy rollers can significantly reduce the cost and time burdens involved in construction while ensuring overall subgrade quality.

采用随机前沿分析模型测度我国各地区1996~2014年绿色技术效率,并分析其地区差异,引入空间计量技术研究绿色技术效率的收敛状况。研究结果表明:我国绿色技术效率整体水平偏低,呈缓慢上升趋势,区域特征表现为东高西低,三大区域差异明显;东部、中部、西部及全国范围内绿色技术效率水平不存在β绝对收敛,经济发展水平、R&D投入、科技进步水平、外商直接投资以及能源强度对各区域绿色技术效率的收敛有显著影响,剔除这些变量的影响,东部、中部、西部及全国范围内的绿色技术效率的增长随时间趋于收敛。

A three-dimensional analysis model based on the finite element method （FEM） is developed, which can derive the evolution and distribution characteristics of heat flux deposited on the divertor plate from the surface temperature measured by infrared thermography diagnostics. The numerical simulations of surface heating due to localized power bursts and the power deposition calculations demonstrate that this analysis can provide accurate results and useful information about localized hot spots compared with the normal one- and two-dimensional calculations. In this paper, the details of this three- dimensional analysis are presented, and some results in ohmic heating and electron cyclotron resonant heating （ECRH） discharge on HL-2A are given.
