Modes of grain growth and mechanism of dislocation reaction under applied biaxial strain:Atomistic and continuum modeling

The phase field crystal method and Continuum Modeling are applied to study the cooperative dislocation motion of the grain boundary(GB)migration,the manner of the nucleation of the grain and of the grain growth in two dimensions(2 D)under the deviatoric deformation at high *** types of the nucleation modes of new finding are observed by the phase field crystal simulation:The first mode of the nucleation is generated by the GB splitting into two sub-GBs;the second mode is of the reaction of the sub-GB dislocations,such as,the generation and annihilation of a pair of partial Frank sessile dislocation in 2 *** process can be considered as the nucleation of dynamic recrystallization;the third mode is caused by two oncoming rows of the dislocations of these sub-GBs,crossing and passing each other to form new gap which is the nucleation place of the new deformed *** research is shown that due to the nucleation of different modes the mechanism of the grain growth by means of the sub-GB migration is different,and therefore,the grain growth rates are also *** the deviatoric deformation of the applied biaxial strain,the grain growth is faster than that of the grain growth without external applied *** is observed that the cooperative dislocation motion of the GB migration under the deviatoric deformation accompanies with local plastic flow and the state of the stress of the system changes *** the system is in the process of recrystallized grain growth,the system energy is in an unstable state due to the release of the strain energy to cause that the reverse movement of the plastic flow *** area growth of the deformed grain is approximately proportional to the strain square and also to the time *** rule of the time square of the deformed grain growth can also be deduced by establishing the continuum dynamic equation of the biaxial strain-driven migration of the *** copper metal is taken as an example of the calcu

BACKGROUND We report a case of infective endocarditis(IE)in a patient with congenital heart valve lesions accompanied by IE,which was diagnosed based on blood culture analysis that revealed the presence of a gram-negative bacterium,Streptococcus *** SUMMARY The patient had a history of precordial valve disease diagnosed by cardiac ultrasound,as well as a 4-mo history of *** was subjected to comprehensive anti-infection and anti-heart failure treatment in the internal medicine *** examination revealed sudden dislodgement from and perforation through the aortic valve by the superfluous organisms,as well as occurrence of bacterial emboli dislodgement,which caused bacteremia and infectious *** recovered and was discharged from the hospital after surgical and postoperative anti-infection *** We review the treatment process and highlight inspirations and reflections from this case;suggest possible future changes in treatment modalities.

DEAR EDITOR,Ancient DNA(a DNA) from mollusc shells is considered a potential archive of historical biodiversity and ***, such information is currently lacking for mollusc shells from the deep ocean, especially those from acidic chemosynthetic environments theoretically unsuitable for longterm DNA preservation. Here, we report on the recovery of mitochondrial and nuclear gene markers by Illumina sequencing of a DNA from three shells of Archivesica nanshaensis – a hydrocarbon-seep vesicomyid clam previously known only from a pair of empty shells collected at a depth of 2626 m in the South China Sea.

BACKGROUND Sporadic cases of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)due to unsatisfactory responses to Abatacept(ABT)have been reported;however,the rescue therapy has not been ***,we present a case with difficult-to-treat RA(D2T RA)that was resistant to either a single ABT or a Janus kinase(JAK)inhibitor(Tofacitinib),but improved with a combination of ABT and JAK inhibitor(Baricitinib,BAT).CASE SUMMARY A 46-year-old Chinese woman who had RA for ten years that was resistant to Tocilizumab,Etanercept,Adalimumab,and *** to the European League Against Rheumatism definition,the patient was diagnosed with D2T *** was then improved with a combination of ABT and a JAK inhibitor *** ABT combined with BAT may be an acceptable strategy for treating D2T RA.

An energy model for the structure transformation of pile-ups of grain boundary dislocations(GBD)at the triple-junction of the grain boundary of ultrafine-grain materials was *** energy of the pile-up of the GBD in the system was calculated by the energy model,the critical geometric and mechanical conditions for the structure transformation of head dislocation of the pile-up were analyzed,and the influence of the number density of the dislocations and the angle between Burgers vectors of two decomposed dislocations on the transformation mode of head dislocation was *** results show when the GBD is accumulated at triple junction,the head dislocation of the GBD is decomposed into two Burgers vectors of these dislocations unless the angle between the two vectors is less than 90°,and the increase of applied external stress can reduce the energy barrier of the dislocation *** mechanism that the ultrafine-grained metal material has both high strength and plasticity owing to the structure transformation of the pile-up of the GBD at the triple junction of the grain boundary is revealed.

Cell polarization in ischemic stroke: molecular mechanisms and advances

Ischemic stroke is a cerebrovascular disease associated with high mortality and disability rates. Since the inflammation and immune response play a central role in driving ischemic damage, it becomes essential to modulate excessive inflammatory reactions to promote cell survival and facilitate tissue repair around the injury site. Various cell types are involved in the inflammatory response, including microglia, astrocytes, and neutrophils, each exhibiting distinct phenotypic profiles upon stimulation. They display either proinflammatory or anti-inflammatory states, a phenomenon known as ‘cell polarization.’ There are two cell polarization therapy strategies. The first involves inducing cells into a neuroprotective phenotype in vitro, then reintroducing them autologously. The second approach utilizes small molecular substances to directly affect cells in vivo. In this review, we elucidate the polarization dynamics of the three reactive cell populations(microglia, astrocytes, and neutrophils) in the context of ischemic stroke, and provide a comprehensive summary of the molecular mechanisms involved in their phenotypic switching. By unraveling the complexity of cell polarization, we hope to offer insights for future research on neuroinflammation and novel therapeutic strategies for ischemic stroke.
