AIM:To assess changed spontaneous brain activity in hyperthyroid exophthalmos(HE)patients by the amplitude of the low-frequency fluctuation(ALFF)method,and to analyze the correlation between brain activity and ALFF values in these ***:Totally 18 HE and 18 hyperthyroid nonexophthalmos(HNE)patients were *** participants were tested by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging,and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were generated to classify the ALFF values of the study ***’s correlation analysis was utilized to evaluate the relationship between the ALFF values obtained from different brain areas and clinical ***:Contrary to HNE patients,we observed lower ALFF values in the left calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex(LCFSC)in HE *** the ROC curve analysis of the LCFSC,the area under the curve reflected a high degree of *** addition,there was positive correlation between mean ALFF values of the LCFSC and the bestcorrected visual acuity of the affected ***:The study displays abnormal brain activity in LCFSC in patients with HE,which might suggest pathological mechanism of visual impairment of HE patients.

The failure cause of a tinned copper wire clamp in marine atmosphere was studied systematically by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy and electrochemical *** main components of the green rust on the surface of the damaged wire clamp are SnO_(2),CuO,Cu_(2)Cl(OH)_(3) and CuCO(OH)_(2).Much of green rust distributes at the platform edge along the axial direction on the crimp connection,and severe corrosion and corrosion pits occur at the platform edge zone along the axial *** enriching Cl-at the marine atmosphere and the existing O_(2) in air collectively enhance the corrosion process of the tin coating and the copper *** element model results show that the residual stress and strain of the tin coating are the largest at the platform edge along the axial direction on the crimp connection,and the corresponding electrode potential of the tin coating at this zone drops *** above results indicate that the residual strain increases the driving force of the corrosion electrochemical reactions and accelerates the corrosion rate and the pit corrosion of the tin coating at this zone.

Objective： Oncolytic adenovirus, also called conditionally replicating adenovirus （CRAD）, has been developed for the treatment of cancer. However, there is a tremendous need to enhance their antitumor efficacy. Here we wish to evaluate whether a strategy that combines the herpes simplex virus-thymidine kinase with oncolytic effects offers a therapeutic advantage. Methods： A novel adenovirus Ad-ETK containing a sequentially positioned promoter of human telomerase reverse transcriptase （hTERT）, the coding sequence of E1A gene, an internal ribosome entry site sequence （IRES） and the coding sequence of herpes simplex virus-thymidine kinase （HSV-TK） was constructed. Infection of various cells with Ad-ETK followed by RT-PCR confirmed the expression of E1A and HSV-TK. The oncolytic ability and synergism between oncolytic effects and HSV-TK system was measured. The infection efficiency was determined by flow cytometry. Results： Ad-ETK deliverys E1A and HSV-TK gene, which selectively replicates in hTERT-positive tumor cells, and the progeny virus can reach up to 150 IU/cell. Our in vitro study showed that Ad-ETK plus ganciclovir （GCV） induced an obvious cell death. Conclusion： An oncolytic adenovirus plus the HSV-TK/GCV suicide gene system resulted in a significant improvement in treatment efficacy and it may offer important considerations in the development and preclinical assessments of oncolytic virotherapy.

As the second largest dust source on the globe,the tectonic and climatic evolution of continental Asia has an important impact on regional and global climate *** West Pacific is the main sediment sink for eolian dust transported eastward from the Asian *** minerals,as the major fine-grained weathering products of continental rocks,can be readily transported by wind or currents over long distances and thus have been widely used in the reconstruction of paleoclimate and weathering ***,the overall evolutionary tendency and response mechanism of clay mineral records over large spatial and long timescales across Asia remain ***,two continuous and high-resolution clay mineral records since 30 Ma were reconstructed from sediments at Deep Sea Drilling Program(DSDP)Sites 292 and 296 in the Philippine *** minerals and Sr-Nd isotope compositions were used to constrain provenance and reconstruct the drying history of the dust source region since the *** results show that the clay-sized detrital sediments in the Philippine Sea are a mixture of Asian eolian dust and volcanic materials from the West Pacific *** on the clay mineral compositions and eolian flux,we reveal that the Asian interior has been continuously drying since the late Oligocene and that stepwise enhanced aridification occurred at approximately 20,14,7,and 3 *** with other regions of the world,the relative contents of illite and chlorite increased more dramatically in Asia during the late Cenozoic,and the inconsistency became more obvious at approximately 20 *** 3 Ma,illite and chlorite have increased consistently across the *** with the Asian tectonic and climatic history,we suggest that the increase in illite and chlorite from Asia between 20 and 3 Ma was mainly in response to the uplift of the Himalayan-Tibetan Plateau,whereas after 3 Ma,it was primarily controlled by global cooling driven by the expansion of the Arctic ice shee
