Changes in rheumatoid arthritis under ultrasound before and after sinomenine injection

Resistance of grid steel-tube-confined concrete targets against projectile impact: Experimental investigation and analytical engineering model

Steel-tube-confined concrete(STCC) targets are provided with excellent anti-penetration performance over semi-infinite concrete(SIC) targets since the steel tube imposes passive restraint on the in-filled concrete during the penetration process. Grid STCC system with square steel tubes is a potential solution to protective structures. In this paper, experiments of 9-cell grid STCC targets penetrated by 12.7 mm Armor Piercing Projectile(APP) were performed. The influence of side length and thickness of steel tube,steel ratio and impact velocity on anti-penetration performance were taken into account. Additionally,single-cell square STCC targets were also designed and tested for comparison with the 9-cell grid STCC targets. Damage modes and parameters of the tested targets were measured and discussed. Moreover,the stiffness of radial confinement of grid STCC targets is achieved according to the elastic solution of infinite cylindrical shell in Winkler medium. Furthermore, the penetration resistance and depth of penetration(DOP) for grid STCC targets are obtained on the basis of the dynamic finite spherical cavityexpansion(FSCE) models including radial confinement effect. It is shown that the 9-cell grid STCC targets with optimal dimension match of thickness and side length of steel tube can reduce the DOP by about17 % and 23 % in comparison with the SIC targets and single-cell square STCC targets, respectively, due to both the confinement of square steel tube to concrete in the impacted cell and the additional confinement of the surrounding cells to the impacted cell;the penetration resistance and DOP of the grid and cellular STCC targets with similar steel ratio is close, and thus the grid STCC targets with simpler manufacturing process and excellent in-plane expandability are preferred in engineering practice;moreover, the predicted results of DOP model based on the FSCE models agree well with the tested results with the maximum disparity less than 12 % and the prop

APPLICATION OF VOF TECHNIQUE TO CHANNEL IMPROVEMENT FOR PANJIATAI SHOAL IN THE YELLOW RIVER

In this paper, Volume Of Fluid (VOF) technique is used to simulate the free surface and the flow field affected by the groynes in the experimental flume and the natural river. A series of flume experiments are carried out. According to the orientation of groynes, angles from the flow direction to the axis of the groyne used in the experiments are assorted into obtuse angle, right angle, and acute angle as well. For each arrangement option, flow conditions are classified as the submerged and the non-submerged one. Velocities and the water level affected by single groyne or double-groyne are measured. The calculated results are agreement well with the experimental data. Because of the high demands in the mesh quality and the computer capability, the VOF technique is seldom used to simulate the natural river. In this paper, the VOF technique is also used to simulate the Panjiatai Shoal of 2km long, one of the important improvement reaches in the Yellow River. Two improvement schemes are compared and analyzed, and the better one is recommended.

Partial multi-label learning via label-specific feature corrections

Partial multi-label learning（PML） allows learning from rich-semantic objects with inaccurate annotations, where a set of candidate labels are assigned to each training example but only some of them are valid. Existing approaches rely on disambiguation to tackle the PML problem, which aims to correct noisy candidate labels by recovering the ground-truth labeling information ahead of prediction model induction. However, this dominant strategy might be suboptimal as it usually needs extra assumptions that cannot be fully satisfied in real-world scenarios. Instead of label correction, we investigate another strategy to tackle the PML problem, where the potential ambiguity in PML data is eliminated by correcting instance features in a label-specific manner. Accordingly, a simple yet effective approach named PASE, i.e., partial multi-label learning via label-specific feature corrections, is proposed. Under a meta-learning framework, PASElearns to exert label-specific feature corrections so that potential ambiguity specific to each class label can be eliminated and the desired prediction model can be induced on these corrected instance features with the provided candidate labels. Comprehensive experiments on a wide range of synthetic and real-world data sets validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Alzheimer’s disease not only affects the brain,but also induces metabolic dysfunction in peripheral organs and alters the gut *** aim of this study was to investigate systemic changes that occur in Alzheimer’s disease,in particular the association between changes in peripheral organ metabolism,changes in gut microbial composition,and Alzheimer’s disease *** do this,we analyzed peripheral organ metabolism and the gut microbiota in amyloid precursor protein-presenilin 1(APP/PS1)transgenic and control mice at 3,6,9,and 12 months of ***-month-old APP/PS1 mice exhibited cognitive impairment,Alzheimer’s disease-related brain changes,distinctive metabolic disturbances in peripheral organs and fecal samples(as detected by untargeted metabolomics sequencing),and substantial changes in gut microbial composition compared with younger APP/PS1 ***,a strong correlation emerged between the gut microbiota and kidney metabolism in APP/PS1 *** findings suggest that alterations in peripheral organ metabolism and the gut microbiota are closely related to Alzheimer’s disease development,indicating potential new directions for therapeutic strategies.

Single-atom catalysts(SACs),as a bridge between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts,have attracted tremendous attention over the past *** atomically dispersed metal active sites,SACs possess maximum atom utilization efficiency and exceptionally high activity towards various catalytic reactions[1].Compared with their nanoparticle counterparts,the unique but uniform configurations of the catalytic sites endow SACs with great potential for mechanism investigation at the atomic level[2,3].Despite of these advantages,SACs are facing the problem of linear scaling relations between intermediates in terms of complicated reactions involving co-adsorption of *** is difficult for a single-atom site to participate in all catalytic steps with high efficiencies,especially for some reactions that need adjacent active sites[4].In this regard,dualatomic-site catalysts(DACs)are emerging as a fascinating frontier in heterogeneous catalysis[5].It has been verified that the synergistic effect of the adjacent atomic pairs in DACs can break the linear scaling relations and optimize the adsorption energy of different intermediates,thus improving the intrinsic catalytic ***,it is of great significance to develop a general synthetic strategy for DACs.

Surgical Technique and Efficacy Analysis of Extra-pseudocapsular Transnasal Transsphenoidal Surgery for Pituitary Microprolactinoma

Objective To elucidate the role of transsphenoidal surgery in the treatment of pituitary *** The clinical data of 107 prolactinoma cases treated by extra-pseudocapsular transnasal transsphenoidal surgery(ETTS)for different indications in our department since 2011 was retrospectively *** The most common indication was the ineffectiveness of oral medication(41.1%),followed by the personal willingness of the patient(35.5%),and 20.6%of the patients were young women with clear tumor *** pseudocapsule was not observed in 63 cases(58.9%),incomplete pseudocapsule was observed in 26 cases(24.3%),and complete pseudocapsule in 18 cases(16.8%).A total of 97 patients(90.7%)obtained 1-year post-operation *** to the relative location of the adenoma and pituitary gland on the MRI scan,46 patients were classified into a central type,59 a lateral type,and 2 a supra-pituitary *** patients developed hypogonadism,one patient developed hypocortisolism,and one patient developed post-operative *** patients were administrated with hormone replacement treatment,and the treatment was stopped within one *** was no permanent *** investigation demonstrated that the adenoma types could affect the remission rates of hyperprolactinemia and gross total resection rate in *** ETTS was an effective treatment for pituitary *** could be the first choice for patients who presented enclosed adenoma on the MRI and were potentially curable in a preoperative *** safe removal of the adenoma by ETTS with the aim to increase the sensitivity of the drugs was also recommended for patients with invasive dopamine agonist resistant prolactinomas and patients with difficulty in childbirth.

Population-based survey of prevalence,causes,and risk factors for blindness and visual impairment in an aging Chinese metropolitan population

AIM： To assess the prevalence, causes, and risk factors for blindness and visual impairment among elderly （〉60 years of age） Chinese people in a metropolitan area of Shanghai, China. METHODS： Random cluster sampling was conducted to identify participants among residents ≥60 years of age living in the Xietu Block, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China. Presenting visual acuity （PVA） and best-corrected visual acuity （BCVA） were checked by the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study （ETDRS） visual chart. All eligible participants underwent a comprehensive eye examination. Blindness and visual impairment were defined according to World Health Organization （WHO） criteria. RESULTS： A total of 4190 persons （1688 men and 2502 women） participated in the study, and the response rate was 91.1%. Based on PVA, the prevalence of blindness was 1.1% and that of visual impairment was 7.6%. Based on BCVA, the prevalence of blindness and visual impairment decreased to 0.9% and 3.9%, respectively. Older （〉80 years of age） women, with low educational levels and smoking habits, exhibited a significantly greater chance for blindness and visual impairment than did those with high educational levels and no smoking habits （P〈0.05）. Based on PVA and BCVA, the main causes of blindness were cataract, myopic maculopathy, and age-related macular degeneration （AMD）. CONCLUSION： Our findings help to identify the population in need of intervention, to highlight the need for additional eye healthcare services in urban China.

Statistical characteristics and classification of ionospheric mid-latitude trough as revealed by the observations of DMSP-F18

Statistical characteristics and the classification of the topside ionospheric mid-latitude trough are systemically analyzed,using observations from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program F18(DMSP-F18)*** data was obtained at an altitude of around 860 km in near polar orbit,throughout *** study identified the auroral boundary based on the in-situ electron density and electron spectrum,allowing us to precisely determine the location of the mid-latitude *** differs from most previous works,which only use Total Electron Content(TEC)or in-situ electron *** our study,the troughs exhibited a higher occurrence rate in local winter than in summer,and extended to lower latitudes with increasing geomagnetic *** was found that the ionospheric mid-latitude trough,which is associated with temperature changes or enhanced ion drift,exhibited distinct ***,the ionospheric mid-latitude troughs related to electron temperature(Te)peak were located more equatorward of auroral oval boundary in winter than in *** ionospheric mid-latitude troughs related to Te-maximum were less frequently observed at 60−70°S magnetic latitude and 90−240°E ***,the troughs related to ion temperature(Ti)maximums were observed at relatively higher latitudes,occurring more frequently in *** addition,the troughs related to ion velocity(Vi)maximums could be observed in all *** troughs with the maximum-Ti and maximum-Vi were located closer to the equatorward boundary of the auroral oval at the nightside,and in both *** implies that enhanced ion drift velocity contributes to increased collisional frictional heating and enhanced ion temperatures,resulting in a density depletion within the trough region.
