Superhydrophilic surfaces have been applied for supercapacitor;however,during energy storage reaction,how the wettability affects the process of electrochemical reaction specifically is still ***,we demonstrate superhydrophilic surface for promotion of electrochemical reactions by liquid affinity and further explain the mechanism,where the transition of the wettability state caused by the change in surface free energy is the main reason for the obvious increase in specific *** citric acid assistance strategy,an intrinsically hydrophobic Ni(OH)_(2.thick nanosheets(HNHTNs,16 nm)can be transitioned into superhydrophilic Ni(OH)_(2.ultrathin nanosheets(SNHUNs,6.8 nm),where the water contact angle was 0°and the surface free energy increased from 8.6to 65.8 mN·m^(-1),implying *** with HNHTNs,the specific capacitance of SNHUNs is doubled:from 12.0 F·g^(-1)(HNHTNs)to 2.50 F·g^(-1)(2.·g^(-1))and,even at 2. A·g^(-1),from 833 F·g^(-1)(HNHTNs)to 1670 F·g^(-1).The asymmetric capacitors assembled by SNHUNs and activated carbon show 52.44 Wh·kg^(-1)at 160W·kg^(-1)and excellent stability with~90%retention after5000 cycles(~80%retention after 9500 cycles).The promotion of electrochemical performances is ascribed to the change of surface wettability caused by surface free energy,which greatly increase affinity of electrode to the surrounding liquid environment to reduce the interface resistance and optimize the electron transport path.

Compacted clay liners are extensively used as barriers to control the upward diffusion of vapors of volatile or semi-volatile organic contaminants released from unsaturated contaminated soils at industrycontaminated *** study aimed to investigate the gas diffusion barrier performance of compacted clayey soils amended with three agents including attapulgite and diatomite individually,and attapulgite/diatomite *** properties including water retention,volumetric shrinkage,gas diffusion,and unconfined compressive strength were evaluated through a series of laboratory tests of amended compacted clayey *** results demonstrate that the decrease in volume proportions of interaggregate pores leads to an increase in unconfined compressive strength(qu).Both hydrophilic groups and microstructures of attapulgite and diatomite result in an increase in water retention percent(Wt)of compacted clayey soil specimens after amendment regardless of the type of agent or initial water content(w0).Furthermore,the ratio of the gas diffusion coefficient(De)to the gas diffusion coefficient in the air(Da)was significantly reduced owing to a decrease in volume proportions of inter-aggregate pores,hydrophilic group,and microstructures of attapulgite and *** electron microscope analyses revealed that rod-shaped attapulgite filled the inter-aggregate pores formed by clay particles,whereas the disc-shaped diatomite particles,characterized by micropores,failed to obstruct the interaggregate pores due to their larger particle *** intrusion porosimetry(MIP)analyses showed a reduction in pore volume in the inter-aggregate pores,leading to a reduction in the total pore volume for both the attapulgite and attapulgite/diatomite mixture amended clays,which is in accordance with the scanning electron microscope(SEM)*** findings are pertinent to the practical application of compacted clay liners as gas barriers against the upward migration of volatile or s

SHA: QoS-Aware Software and Hardware Auto-Tuning for Database Systems

While databases are widely-used in commercial user-facing services that have stringent quality-of-service(QoS)requirement,it is crucial to ensure their good performance and minimize the hardware usage at the same *** investigation shows that the optimal DBMS(database management system)software configuration varies for different user request patterns(i.e.,workloads)and hardware *** is challenging to identify the optimal software and hardware configurations for a database workload,because DBMSs have hundreds of tunable knobs,the effect of tuning a knob depends on other knobs,and the dependency relationship changes under different hardware *** this paper,we propose SHA,a software and hardware auto-tuning system for *** is comprised of a scaling-based performance predictor,a reinforcement learning(RL)based software tuner,and a QoS-aware resource *** performance predictor predicts its optimal performance with different hardware configurations and identifies the minimum amount of resources for satisf{2.ng its performance *** software tuner fine-tunes the DBMS software knobs to optimize the performance of the *** resource reallocator assigns the saved resources to other applications to improve resource utilization without incurring QoS violation of the database *** results show that SHA improves the performance of database workloads by 9.9%on average compared with a state-of-the-art solution when the hardware configuration is fixed,and improves 43.2.of resource utilization while ensuring the QoS.

Risk of cardiovascular death in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma based on the Fine-Gray model
