BACKGROUND Wellens syndrome is an electrocardiogram(ECG)pattern seen in high-risk patients with unstable angina *** is characterized by inverted or biphasic T-waves that change into positive or pseudo-normalized waves at precordial leads when the patient experiences an angina attack;however,the mechanism for this condition remains *** SUMMARY A 47-year-old male patient experienced repeated,unprovoked episodes of chest pain for>20 d,with worsening during the previous *** the day of admission,he experienced episodes of paroxysmal chest pain lasting more than 30 min,in addition to radiating pain to the left arm and exertional *** patient presented to the emergency department with no chest pain or other discomfort at that *** at presentation showed sinus tachycardia and Twave changes,which were identified as Wellens syndrome when combined with previous ECG *** and myocardial enzymology examinations were normal when angina was present,but the ECG showed inverted or biphasic Twaves when angina was *** percutaneous coronary intervention,the ECGs demonstrated inverted or biphasic T-waves in the anterior precordial leads on days 0,1,and 2,but normal T-waves on day *** ECGs showed no subsequent ischemic ST-T-wave *** The Wellens syndrome pseudo-normalized T-waves likely reflect development of unstable angina pectoris into the hyperacute phase of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.

BACKGROUND Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(AHCM)is a subtype of hypertrophic *** to its location,the thickening of the left ventricular apex can be missed on *** negative T waves(GNTs)in left-sided chest leads are the hallmark electrocardiogram(ECG)change of *** SUMMARY The first patient was a 68-year-old woman complaining of recurrent chest tightness persisting for more than 3 *** second was a 59-year-old man complaining of spasmodic chest tightness persisting for more than 2 *** third was a 55-year-old woman complaining of recurrent chest pain persisting for 4 *** all three cases,GNTs were observed several years prior to apical cardiac hypertrophy after other causes of T-wave inversion were ruled *** Electrophysiological abnormalities of AHCM appear earlier than structural abnormalities,confirming the early predictive value of ECG for AHCM.

Further studies on the sea cucumber Bohadschia marmorata Jaeger led to the isolation of a new holostan-type triterpene glycoside,Marmoroside C（1）together with a known triterpene glycoside（2）.On the basis of spectroscopic analyses,including two- dimensional NMR techniques,and chemical reactions,the structure of the new triterpene glycoside was elucidated as 3-O-[3-O- methyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl-（1→3）-β-D-glucopyranosyl-（1→4）-β-D-quinovopyranosyl-（1→2）-4-O-sodium-sulfato-β-D-xylo- pyranosyl]-25-acetoxy-22-oxo-9（11）-holostene-3β,12α,17α-triol.

Design of highly efficient elliptic curve crypto-processor with two multiplications over GF(2^(163))

In this article, a parallel hardware processor is presented to compute elliptic curve scalar multiplication in polynomial basis representation. The processor is applicable to the operations of scalar multiplication by using a modular arithmetic logic unit （MALU）. The MALU consists of two multiplications, one addition, and one squaring. The two multiplications and the addition or squaring can be computed in parallel. The whole computations of scalar multiplication over GF（2^163） can be performed in 3 064 cycles. The simulation results based on Xilinx Virtex2 XC2V6000 FPGAs show that the proposed design can compute random GF（2^163） elliptic curve scalar multiplication operations in 31.17 μs, and the resource occupies 3 994 registers and 15 527 LUTs, which indicates that the crypto-processor is suitable for high-performance application.

Synthesis of Functional Polyethylene Copolymers via Reactive Monomer

Polyolefins are used widely due to their good performance and low price, but the poor compatibility and adhesion with other materials limits their applications in broader areas. Reactive monomer approach is effective to synthesize functional polyolefins[1]. In this case, olefin is copolymerized with a reactive comonomer to produce reactive intermediary which is then converted to functional group or initiator to initiate graft-from polymerization of polar monomer.

Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Pollen Fertility under High Temperature Stress at Flowering Stage in Rice (Oryza sativa)

High temperature stress (HTS), an increasingly important problem in rice production, significantly reduces rice yield by reducing pollen fertility and seed setting rate. Breeding rice varieties with tolerance to HTS at the flowering stage is therefore essential for maintaining rice production as the climate continues to become warm. In this study, two quantitative trait loci (QTLs) underlying tolerance to HTS were identified using recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between an HTS-tolerant rice cultivar 996 and a sensitive cultivar 4628. Pollen fertility was used as a heat-tolerance indicator for the lines subjected to HTS at the flowering stage in field experiments. Two QTLs that affected pollen fertility, qPF4 and qPF6, were detected between RM5687 and RM471 on chromosome 4, and between RM190 and RM225 on chromosome 6, by using the composite interval mapping (CIM) analysis. The two QTLs explained 15.1% and 9.31% of the total phenotypic variation in pollen fertility, and increased the pollen fertility of the plants subjected to HTS by 7.15% and 5.25%, respectively. The positive additive effects of the two QTLs were derived from the 996 alleles. The two major QTLs identified would be useful for further fine mapping and cloning of these genes and for molecular marker-assistant breeding of heat-tolerant rice varieties.

Cloning and Expression Analysis of a Brassinosteroid Biosynthetic Enzyme Gene,GhDWF1,from Cotton (Gossypium hirsuturm L.)

Brassinosteroids （BRs） are an important class of plant steroidal hormones that are essential in a wide variety of physiological processes. To determine the effects of BRs on the development of cotton fibers, through screening cotton fiber EST database and contigging the candidate ESTs, a key gene （GhDWF1） involved in the upstream biosynthetic pathway of BRs was cloned from developing fibers of upland cotton （Gossypium hirsutum L.） cv. Xuzhou 142. The full length of the cloned cDNA is 1 849 bp, including a 37 bp 5＇-untranslated region, an ORF of 1 692 bp, and a 120 bp 3＇-untranslated region. The cDNA encodes a polypeptide of 563 amino acid residues with a predicted molecular mass of 65 kD. The deduced amino acid sequence has high homology with the BR biosynthetic enzyme, DWARF1/DIMINUTO, from rice, maize, pea, tomato, and Arabidopsis. Furthermore, the typical conserved structures, such as the transmembrane domain, the FAD- dependent oxidase domain, and the FAD-binding site, are present in the GhDWF1 protein. The Southern blot indicated that the GhDWF1 gene is a single copy in upland cotton genome. RT-PCR analysis revealed that the highest level of GhDWF1 expression was detected in 0 DPA （day post anthesis） ovule （with fibers） while the lowest level was observed in cotyledon. The GhDWF1 gene presents high expression levels in root, young stem, and fiber, especially, at the fiber developmental stage of secondary cell wall accumulation. Moreover, the expression level was higher in ovules （with fibers） of wildtype （Xuzhou 142） than in ovules of fuzzless-lintless mutant at the same developmental stages （0 and 4 DPA）. The results suggest that the GhDWF1 gene plays a crucial role in fiber development.

A Dynamics Study of a Magnetic Flux Leakage(MFL) Signal and its Application to Defect Location Discrimination in Steel Pipes MFL Testing Equipment

Difference processing was used to the direct current magnetic flux leakage （DC-MFL） signal, emanating from the defects machined artificially on the internal and external surfaces of a steel pipe. Consequently, the loea-tion discriminating index 8 was provided to identify the defect whether it is on the internal surface or the external one. Three characteristics, shape, depth and orientation of the defect, were discussed through a series of experiments on the artificial defects, such as transverse notches, oblique notches and pits on the steel pipe. The approach has been verified effective to address the defect location identifying problem, albeit the limits on the accuracy assessment to those natural defects on steel pipes in service.
