Surfactants produced by typeⅡalveolar epithelial cells(AT2 cells)are usually present in inclusion organelles called lamellar bodies(LBs).The ATP-binding cassette subfamily A member 3(ABCA3)transporter primarily exists in AT2 cells and is generally considered to be one of the critical regulators of biogenesis of LBs and surfactant metabolism in the lungs[1-4].ABCA3 mutations are the most com-mon cause of congenital surfactant dysfunction disorders(CSDDs),resulting in fatal neonatal respiratory distress and pediatric or adult interstitial lung disease[3,5-7].More than 200 disease-associated ABCA3 variants have been identi-fied in symptomatic infants and children[8].The estimated prevalence of deleterious ABCA3 mutations in the popu-lation is 1/70-1/33,with a predicted disease incidence of 1/20,000-1/4400[7].

Influence of the Acoustic Liner in Large Eddy Simulation of Longitudinal Thermoacoustic Instability in a Model Annular Combustor

Although extensive efforts have been made to dampen the thermoacoustic instability,successfully controlling the pressure oscillations in modern gas turbines or aeroengines remains challenging.The influence of the acoustic liner on the longitudinal thermoacoustic mode in a model annular combustor is investigated by Large Eddy Simulation(LES) in this work.The result of the self-excited longitudinal thermoacoustic instability without the liner agrees well with the frequency and acoustic analysis of the pressure mode based on experimental data.Three different bias flow velocities of the liner located downstream of the combustor are then simulated.The results reveal that the existence of the liner influences not only the acoustic field but also the flow field.When the bias velocity is large,it leads to intense turbulence-induced fluctuations,and the pressure oscillation is modulated intermittently.It shows that the weak coupling between flow and pressure oscillations plays a significant role in the onset of the intermittency of a thermoacoustic system.Based on the dynamic analysis of the thermoacoustic system with the acoustic liner,this intermittency is caused by the influence of the flow field on the flame-acoustic coupling.Finally,a low-order modeling method based on Van der Pol(VdP) oscillator with additive stochastic forcing is conducted to reproduce the evolving dynamics of the thermoacoustic system.Although the numerical cases demonstrated in this work are relatively simpler than those in a practical combustion system,the results are helpful for us to understand the effect of the acoustic liner and show the attractive potential to apply this device to suppress thermoacoustic instability.

Background The age of onset of hypertension(HTN)is decreasing,and obesity is a significant risk factor.The prevalence and racial disparities in pediatric HTN and the association between body composition and blood pressure are insufficiently studied.This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of HTN in Chinese and American children and adolescents and to assess the relationship between various body composition indices and HTN.Methods Seven thousand,five hundred and seventy-three Chinese and 6239 American children and adolescents aged 8–18 years from the 2013–2015 China Child and Adolescent Cardiovascular Health study and the 2011–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys were analyzed.Blood pressure and body composition(fat and muscle)were measured by trained staff.The crude prevalence and age-standardized prevalence rate(ASPR)of primary HTN and its subtypes[isolated systolic hypertension(ISH)and isolated diastolic hypertension(IDH)]were calculated based on 2017 American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.Multivariable-adjusted linear regression coefficients and odds ratios(ORs)were calculated to assess the associations of body composition indicators with HTN,ISH and IDH.Results The ASPR of HTN was 18.5%in China(CN)and 4.6%in the United States(US),whereas the obesity prevalence was 7.4%and 18.6%,and the population attributable risk of HTN caused by overweight and obesity was higher in the US than in CN.Increased fat mass,muscle mass and body fat percentage mass were associated with a higher risk of HTN in both countries.The percent of muscle body mass had a protective effect on HTN and ISH in both countries[HTN(CN:OR=0.83,95%CI=0.78–0.88;US:OR=0.72,95%CI=0.64–0.81);ISH(CN:OR=0.87,95%CI=0.80–0.94;US:OR=0.71,95%CI=0.62–0.81)],and the protective effect was more common among children and adolescents with high levels of physical activity.Conclusions The burden of HTN in Chinese children and adolescents was substantial and much greater than that in the US,and the contribution of obesity to HTN was higher in t

The energy consumption of heating,ventilation,and air conditioning(HVAC)systems holds a significant position in building energy usage,accounting for about 65%of the total energy consumption.Moreover,with the advancement of building automation,the energy consumption of ventilation systems continues to grow.This study focuses on improving the performance of spherical tuyeres in HVAC systems.It primarily utilizes neural networks and multi-island genetic algorithms(MIGA)for multi-parameter optimization.By employing methods such as structural parameterization,accurate and fast computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations,a minimized sample space,and a rational optimization strategy,the time cycle of the optimization process is shortened.Additionally,a new comprehensive evaluation index is proposed in this research to describe the performance of spherical tuyeres,which can be used to more accurately assess spherical tuyeres with different structures.The results show that by establishing a neural network prediction model and combining it with the multi-island genetic algorithm,a novel spherical tuyere design was successfully achieved.The optimized novel spherical tuyeres achieved a 27.05%reduction in the spherical tuyeres effective index(STEI)compared to the traditional spherical tuyeres.Moreover,the resistance decreased by 15.68%,and the jet length increased by 7.57%.The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed optimization method exhibits high accuracy,good generalization capability,and excellent agreement at different Reynolds numbers.

All galaxies with extragalactic H2O maser sources observed so far are collected. With the 2MASS and the IRAS photometric data an infrared study is performed on those galaxies. By a comparison between the H2O maser detected sources and non-detected sources in the infrared it is indicated that infrared properties in the IRAS 12-25 #m and 60-100#m are important for producing H20 masers in galaxies. It is also found that the H20 maser galaxies with different nuclear activity types have rather different infrared properties mainly in the IRAS 12-60 μm region.

BACKGROUND Metadherin(MTDH)is a key oncogene in most cancer types,including hepato-cellular carcinoma(HCC).Notably,MTDH does not affect the stemness pheno-type or immune infiltration of HCC.AIM To explore the role of MTDH on stemness and immune infiltration in HCC.METHODS MTDH expression in HCC tissues was detected using TCGA and GEO databases.Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the tissue samples.MTDH was stably knocked down or overexpressed by lentiviral transfection in the two HCC cell lines.The invasion and migration abilities of HCC cells were evaluated using Matrigel invasion and wound healing assays.Next,we obtained liver cancer stem cells from the spheroids by culturing them in a serum-free medium.Gene expression was determined by western blotting and quantitative reverse transcri-ption PCR.Flow cytometry,immunofluorescence,and tumor sphere formation assays were used to characterize stem-like cells.The effects of MTDH inhibition on tumor growth were evaluated in vivo.The correlation of MTDH with immune cells,immunomodulators,and chemokines was analyzed using ssGSEA and TISIDB databases.RESULTS HCC tissues expressed higher levels of MTDH than normal liver tissues.High MTDH expression was associated with a poor prognosis.HCC cells overex-pressing MTDH exhibited stronger invasion and migration abilities,exhibited a stem cell-like phenotype,and formed spheres;however,MTDH inhibition attenuated these effects.MTDH inhibition suppressed HCC progression and CD133 expression in vivo.MTDH was positively correlated with immature dendritic,T helper 2 cells,central memory CD8^(+)T,memory B,activated dendritic,natural killer(NK)T,NK,activated CD4^(+)T,and central memory CD4^(+)T cells.MTDH was negatively correlated with activated CD8^(+)T cells,eosinophils,activated B cells,monocytes,macrophages,and mast cells.A positive correlation was observed between the MTDH level and CXCL2 expression,whereas a negative correlation was observed between the MTDH level and CX3CL1 and CXCL12 expression.CONCLUSION High levels of M

Gliomas tend to have a poor prognosis and are the most common primary malignant tumors of the central nervous system.Compared with patients with other cancers,glioma patients often suffer from increased levels of psychological stress,such as anxiety and fear.Chronic stress(CS)is thought to impact glioma profoundly.However,because of the complex mechanisms underlying CS and variability in individual tolerance,the role of CS in glioma remains unclear.This review suggests a new proposal to redivide the stress system into two parts.Neuronal activity is dominant upstream.Stress-signaling molecules produced by the neuroendocrine system are dominant downstream.We discuss the underlying molecular mechanisms by which CS impacts glioma.Potential pharmacological treatments are also summarized from the therapeutic perspective of CS.

Strong anisotropic corrosion and mechanical properties caused by specimen orientations greatly limit the applications of wrought magnesium alloys.To investigate the influences of specimen orientation,the corrosion tests and(corrosion)fatigue crack growth tests were conducted.The rolled and transverse surfaces of the materials show distinct corrosion rate differences in the stable corrosion stage,but the truth is the opposite for the initial stage of corrosion.In air,specimen orientations have a significant influence on the plastic deformation mechanisms near the crack tip,which results in different fatigue fracture surfaces and cracking paths.Compared with R-T specimens,N-T specimens show a slower fatigue crack growth(FCG)rate in air,which can be attributed to crack closure effects and deformation twinning near the crack tip.The corrosion environment will not significantly change the main plastic deformation mechanisms for the same type of specimen.However,the FCG rate in phosphate buffer saline(PBS)is one order of magnitude higher than that in air,which is caused by the combined effects of hydrogen-induced cracking and anodic dissolution.Owing to the similar corrosion rates at crack tips,the specimens with different orientations display close FCG rates in PBS.
