Optimal Cooperative Secondary Control for Islanded DC Microgrids via a Fully Actuated Approach

DC-DC converter-based multi-bus DC microgrids(MGs) in series have received much attention, where the conflict between voltage recovery and current balancing has been a hot topic. The lack of models that accurately portray the electrical characteristics of actual MGs while is controller design-friendly has kept the issue active. To this end, this paper establishes a large-signal model containing the comprehensive dynamical behavior of the DC MGs based on the theory of high-order fully actuated systems, and proposes distributed optimal control based on this. The proposed secondary control method can achieve the two goals of voltage recovery and current sharing for multi-bus DC MGs. Additionally, the simple structure of the proposed approach is similar to one based on droop control, which allows this control technique to be easily implemented in a variety of modern microgrids with different configurations. In contrast to existing studies, the process of controller design in this paper is closely tied to the actual dynamics of the MGs. It is a prominent feature that enables engineers to customize the performance metrics of the system. In addition, the analysis of the stability of the closed-loop DC microgrid system, as well as the optimality and consensus of current sharing are given. Finally, a scaled-down solar and battery-based microgrid prototype with maximum power point tracking controller is developed in the laboratory to experimentally test the efficacy of the proposed control method.

Precision measurement and compensation of kinematic errors for industrial robots using artifact and machine learning

Industrial robots are widely used in various areas owing to their greater degrees of freedom(DOFs)and larger operation space compared with traditional frame movement systems involving sliding and rotational stages.However,the geometrical transfer of joint kinematic errors and the relatively weak rigidity of industrial robots compared with frame movement systems decrease their absolute kinematic accuracy,thereby limiting their further application in ultraprecision manufacturing.This imposes a stringent requirement for improving the absolute kinematic accuracy of industrial robots in terms of the position and orientation of the robot arm end.Current measurement and compensation methods for industrial robots either require expensive measuring systems,producing positioning or orientation errors,or offer low measurement accuracy.Herein,a kinematic calibration method for an industrial robot using an artifact with a hybrid spherical and ellipsoid surface is proposed.A system with submicrometric precision for measuring the position and orientation of the robot arm end is developed using laser displacement sensors.Subsequently,a novel kinematic error compensating method involving both a residual learning algorithm and a neural network is proposed to compensate for nonlinear errors.A six-layer recurrent neural network(RNN)is designed to compensate for the kinematic nonlinear errors of a six-DOF industrial robot.The results validate the feasibility of the proposed method for measuring the kinematic errors of industrial robots,and the compensation method based on the RNN improves the accuracy via parameter fitting.Experimental studies show that the measuring system and compensation method can reduce motion errors by more than 30%.The present study provides a feasible and economic approach for measuring and improving the motion accuracy of an industrial robot at the submicrometric measurement level.

Recent progress on synthesis of ZIF-67-based materials and their application to heterogeneous catalysis

In recent years,an increasing amount of interest has been dedicated to the synthesis and application of ZIF-67-based materials due to their exceptionally high surface area,tunable porosity,and excellent thermal and chemical stabilities.This review summarizes the latest strategies of synthesizing ZIF-67-based materials by exploring the prominent examples.Then,the recent progress in the applications of ZIF-67-based materials in heterogeneous catalysis,including catalysis of the redox reactions,addition reactions,esterification reactions,Knoevenagel condensations,and hydrogenation-dehydrogenation reactions,has been elaborately discussed.Finally,we end this work by shedding some light on the large-scale industrial production of ZIF-67-based materials and their applications in the future.

A narrative review on the role of genetics in children with acute recurrent pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis

The incidence of pancreatitis in children has increased over the past two decades.With advances in molecular biological techniques and clinical research,genetic variations have emerged as a pivotal etiological factor in pediatric pancreatitis.This review aims to summarize recent clinical research advancements in understanding pediatric pancreatitis caused by various gene mutations.As of the year 2020,researchers had identified 12 genes implicated in the pathogenesis of pancreatitis.These genes primarily contributed to the development of pancreatitis through three mechanisms.Pancreatitis resulting from these gene mutations exhibits several distinct characteristics,including early onset,a heightened risk of developing pancreatic duct stones,rapid disease progression,and a significantly increased risk of pancreatic endocrine and exocrine dysfunction,as well as pancreatic cancer in the future.Genetic sequencing is recommended for children with pancreatitis based on six indications.The sequencing not only assists in the clinical diagnosis but also enhances our understanding of the pathophysiology of pancreatitis.

Digital Signal Processing for High-Speed THz Communications

The use of advanced digital signal processing(DSP) technology in the high-speed terahertz(THz) communication can effectively compensate the linear and nonlinear effects of the system and further improve the transmission performance of the system. This paper introduces the principle and application of advanced DSP algorithms such as probability shaping(PS)technology, Volterra series nonlinear compensation algorithm, Kramers-Kronig receiver, look-up table(LUT)pre-distortion compensation technology, pre-equalization and decision-directed least-mean-square equalization algorithm. Combined with DSP algorithms such as PS and LUT pre-distortion, using photon-assisted technology to successfully realize the wireless transmission of vector THz signals higher than 1 Tbit/s on the sub-THz band(D-band) 4 × 4 multiple input multiple output system.

Design and modeling of a novel soft parallel robot driven by endoskeleton pneumatic artificial muscles

Owing to their inherent great flexibility, good compliance, excellent adaptability, and safe interactivity, soft robots have shown great application potential. The advantages of light weight, high efficiency, non-polluting characteristic, and environmental adaptability provide pneumatic soft robots an important position in the field of soft robots. In this paper, a soft robot with 10 soft modules, comprising three uniformly distributed endoskeleton pneumatic artificial muscles, was developed. The robot can achieve flexible motion in 3D space. A novel kinematic modeling method for variable-curvature soft robots based on the minimum energy method was investigated, which can accurately and efficiently analyze forward and inverse kinematics. Experiments show that the robot can be controlled to move to the desired position based on the proposed model. The prototype and modeling method can provide a new perspective for soft robot design, modeling, and control.

Proteomics Study of Benzene Metabolite Hydroquinone Induced Hematotoxicity in K562 Cells

Objective Hydroquinone(HQ),one of the phenolic metabolites of benzene,is widely recognized as an important participant in benzene-induced hematotoxicity.However,there are few relevant proteomics in HQ-induced hematotoxicity and the mechanism hasn’t been fully understood yet.Methods In this study,we treated K562 cells with 40μmol/L HQ for 72 h,examined and validated protein expression changes by Label-free proteomic analysis and Parallel reaction monitoring(PRM),and performed bioinformatics analysis to identify interaction networks.Results One hundred and eighty-seven upregulated differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)and 279 downregulated DEPs were identified in HQ-exposed K562 cells,which were involved in neutrophilmediated immunity,blood microparticle,and other GO terms,as well as the lysosome,metabolic,cell cycle,and cellular senescence-related pathways.Focusing on the 23 DEGs and 5 DEPs in erythroid differentiation-related pathways,we constructed the network of protein interactions and determined 6 DEPs(STAT1,STAT3,CASP3,KIT,STAT5B,and VEGFA)as main hub proteins with the most interactions,among which STATs made a central impact and may be potential biomarkers of HQ-induced hematotoxicity.Conclusion Our work reinforced the use of proteomics and bioinformatic approaches to advance knowledge on molecular mechanisms of HQ-induced hematotoxicity at the protein level and provide a valuable basis for further clarification.

Infectious diseases have always been a problem that threatens people's health and tuberculosis is one of the major.With the development of medical scientific research,drug-resistant infectious diseases have become a more intractable threat because various drugs and antibiotics are widely used in the process of fighting against infectious diseases.In this paper,an improved dynamic model of infectious diseases considering population dynamics and drug resistance is established.The feasible region,equilibrium points and stability of the model are analyzed.Based on the existing data,this model can predict the development of the epidemic situation through numerical simulation,and put forward some relevant measures and suggestions.

Production of dissolved organic carbon in the South China Sea:A modeling study

The South China Sea(SCS)is the largest semi-enclosed marginal sea in the western Pacific.The alternation of East Asian monsoon causes a significant seasonal pattern of chlorophyll,primary productivity,and export flux of sinking particles.However,the source and sink of dissolved organic carbon(DOC)pools with different bioavailability are less studied.Here we evaluated the seasonal production of DOC in labile,semi-labile and refractory forms using a coupled physical-biogeochemical model.This study aims to understand the dynamics and budgets of organic matters in the SCS.Model results show that the production of labile,semi-labile and refractory DOC is highly correlated with the net primary productivity(NPP)which is higher in winter and lower in summer,reflecting a dependence of DOC on the NPP.The seasonal variation in Pearl River discharge dominates the DOC production in the northern coastal region.In the northeast,the Kuroshio intrusion associated frontal system is attributed to cause high winter production.The DOC production in the southwest is controlled by both winter mixing and summer upwelling.The production of refractory DOC with the least bioavailability favors carbon sequestration.Its annual mean production is 1.8±0.5 mg C m^(−2) d^(−1),equivalent to 26%of the export flux of particulate organic carbon at 1000 m.

Variable Stiffness Actuator(VSA)is the core mechanism to achieve physical human–robot interaction,which is an inevitable development trend in robotic.The existing variable stiffness actuators are basically single degree-of-freedom(DOF)rotating joints,which are achieving multi-DOF motion by cascades and resulting in complex robot body structures.In this paper,an integrated 2-DOF actuator with variable stiffness is proposed,which could be used for bionic wrist joints or shoulder joints.The 2-DOF motion is coupling in one universal joint,which is different from the way of single DOF actuators cascade.Based on the 2-DOF orthogonal motion generated by the spherical wrist parallel mechanism,the stiffness could be adjusted by varying the effective length of the springs,which is uniformly distributed in the variable stiffness unit.The variable stiffness principle,the model design,and theoretical analysis of the VSA are discussed in this work.The independence of adjusting the equilibrium position and stiffness of the actuator is validated by experiments.The results show that the measured actuator characteristics are sufficiently matched the theoretical values.In the future,VSA could be used in biped robot or robotic arm,ensuring the safety of human–robot interaction.
