Correlation between Surface Area Ratio of Medial to Lateral Tibial Plateau and Knee Alignment in Adults

Objective This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the surface area ratio of medial tibial plateau(MTP)to lateral tibial plateau(LTP)and the mechanical tibiofemoral angle(mTFA).Methods Lower limb computed tomography(CT)images were collected at our hospital.Then,the original CT data were analyzed and reconstructed using medical image processing software.The proximal and distal centres of the femur and tibia were marked.The surface areas of MTP and LTP were identified using image processing software.GraphPad Prism 8.0.2 was used to perform the statistical analysis.Results The surface area ratio of MTP to LTP was significantly correlated with the mTFA in all patients(P<0.0001),male group(P<0.0001),female group(P<0.0001),varus group(P<0.0001),and valgus group(P=0.002).Furthermore,the surface area of MTP and LTP was significantly greater in the male group than in the female group(P<0.0001).There was significant difference in the surface area of the MTP between the varus and valgus groups(P<0.0001).Significant difference was also observed in the surface area ratio of MTP to LTP between the varus and valgus groups(P<0.0001).Conclusion The surface area ratio of MTP to LTP was correlated with the mTFA.Within a certain range,the smaller the mTFA,the greater the surface area ratio of MTP to LTP.For patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty,of whom the surface area of the MTP was basically equal to that of the LTP,it is recommended that the osteotomy should be performed in accordance with mechanical alignment standards,and that a symmetrical tibial plateau prosthesis should be used.For patients whose surface area of MTP is significantly greater than that of the LTP,it is recommended that the osteotomy should be performed in accordance with kinematic alignment standards,and that an anatomical tibial plateau prosthesis should be used.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)is a prevalent human malignancy,and understanding its biology will help identify problems in refractory patients and customize alternative therapies for them.We found that DLBCL can be stratified into two independent subtypes with different clinical characteristics and outcomes by consensus clustering of expression of ferroptosis regulatory genes,which proves that ferroptosis is effective in treating refractory cases.In this work,we constructed a novel ferroptosis nanocarrier(PBPMn@PEG)by coating Prussian blue nanoparticles with manganese ions and encapsulating them with poly(ethyleneglycol).The low efficiency of the Fenton reaction of Prussian blue nanoparticles can be improved greatly by manganese coating,and can effectively generate hydroxyl radicals,and induce ferroptosis of lymphoma cells(SU-DHL-10 cells)by down-regulating ferroptosis suppressor genes and up-regulating ferroptosis driver genes.It also induces effective cell apoptosis,which is synergistic with ferroptosis for DLBCL therapy.In vivo experiments also prove that PBPMn@PEG achieved a better anti-tumor effect by up-regulating COX2,HO-1/hemeoxygenase-1(HMOX1),and NADPH oxidase-4(NOX4),and downregulating FSP1 and GPX4,with lower biotoxicity.As a novel and potential DLBCL drug carrier,our discovery served as a foundation for the treatment of the refractory DLBCL by inducing ferroptosis for DLBCL treatment in addition to the therapeutic effect of drugs.

With the dawning of the Internet of Everything(IoE) era, more and more novel applications are being deployed. However, resource constrained devices cannot fulfill the resource-requirements of these applications. This paper investigates the computation offloading problem of the coexistence and synergy between fog computing and cloud computing in IoE by jointly optimizing the offloading decisions, the allocation of computation resource and transmit power. Specifically, we propose an energy-efficient computation offloading and resource allocation(ECORA) scheme to minimize the system cost. The simulation results verify the proposed scheme can effectively decrease the system cost by up to 50% compared with the existing schemes, especially for the scenario that the computation resource of fog computing is relatively small or the number of devices increases.

Background Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children(MIS-C),a relatively uncommon but severe pediatric complication,is associated with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).A variety of treatment approaches,including intravenous immunoglobulins(IVIGs),glucocorticoids(GCs)and biologic agents,such as anakinra and infliximab,have been described for the management of COVID-19-related MIS-C.Anticoagulant therapy is also important.However,a well-developed treatment system has not been established,and many issues remain controversial.Several recently published articles related to the treatment of MIS-C have been released.Hence,in this review,we identified relevant articles published recently and summarized the treatment of MIS-C more comprehensively and systematically.Data sources We reviewed the literature on the treatment of MIS-C through 20 September 2023.The PubMed/Medline,Web of Science,EMBASE,and Cochrane Library databases were searched with the combination of the terms"multisystem inflammatory syndrome","MIS-C","PIMS-TS","therapy","treatment","drug","IVIG","GCs","intravenous immunoglobulin","corticosteroids","biological agent",and"aspirin".Results The severity of MIS-C varies,and different treatment schemes should be used according to the specific condition.Ongoing research and data collection are vital to better understand the pathophysiology and optimal management of MIS-C.Conclusions MIS-Cis a disease involving multiple systems and has great heterogeneity.With the accumulation of additional experience,we have garnered fresh insights into its treatment strategies.However,there remains a critical need for greater standardization in treatment protocols,alongside the pressing necessity for more robust and meticulously conducted studies to deepen our understanding of these protocols.

Risk stratification for ischemic stroke is essential for patients with atrial fibrillation(AF)before the consideration of anticoagulation therapy.According to current AF management guidelines,about 90%of AF patients should receive anticoagulation therapy,and risk of stroke death in AF patients was around 68%.It is thus of importance to precisely define the patients who are in urgent need of anticoagulation therapy.In this context,study results from Ma et al[1]published in this issue could be helpful to precisely define the AF patients who are at real risk of stroke.The study aims to develop an accurate and easy-to-use predictive model for the 1-year risk of thromboembolic events(TEs),including ischemic stroke and systemic embolic events,in Chinese patients with AF.

The power-law parametrization for the energy density spectrum of gravitational wave(GW)background is a useful tool to study its physics and origin.While scalar induced secondary gravitational waves(SIGWs)from some particular models fit the signal detected by NANOGrav,Parkers Pulsar Timing Array,European Pulsar Timing Array,and Chinese Pulsar Timing Array collaborations better than GWs from supermassive black hole binaries(SMBHBs),we test the consistency of the data with the infrared part of SIGWs which is somewhat independent of models.Through Bayesian analysis,we show that the infrared parts of SIGWs fit the data better than GW background from SMBHBs.The results give tentative evidence for SIGWs.

In radar systems,target tracking errors are mainly from motion models and nonlinear measurements.When we evaluate a tracking algorithm,its tracking accuracy is the main criterion.To improve the tracking accuracy,in this paper we formulate the tracking problem into a regression model from measurements to target states.A tracking algorithm based on a modified deep feedforward neural network(MDFNN)is then proposed.In MDFNN,a filter layer is introduced to describe the temporal sequence relationship of the input measurement sequence,and the optimal measurement sequence size is analyzed.Simulations and field experimental data of the passive radar show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is better than those of extended Kalman filter(EKF),unscented Kalman filter(UKF),and recurrent neural network(RNN)based tracking methods under the considered scenarios.
