Dendrites are specialized neuronal compartments that sense, integrate and transfer information in the neural network. Their development is tightly controlled and abnormal dendrite morphogenesis is strongly linked to neurological disorders. While dendritic morphology ranges from relatively simple to extremely complex for a specified neuron, either requires a functional secretory pathway to continually replenish proteins and lipids to meet dendritic growth demands. The Golgi apparatus occupies the center of the secretory pathway and is regulating posttranslational modifications, sorting, transport, and signal transduction, as well as acting as a non-centrosomal microtubule organization center. The neuronal Golgi apparatus shares common features with Golgi in other eukaryotic cell types but also forms distinct structures known as Golgi outposts that specifically localize in dendrites. However, the organization and function of Golgi in dendrite development and its impact on neurological disorders is just emerging and so far lacks a systematic summary. We describe the organization of the Golgi apparatus in neurons, review the current understanding of Golgi function in dendritic morphogenesis, and discuss the current challenges and future directions.

Obesity and aging are two important epidemic factors for metabolic syndrome and many other health issues,which contribute to devastating diseases such as cardiovascular diseases,stroke and cancers.The brain plays a central role in controlling metabolic physiology in that it integrates information from other metabolic organs,sends regulatory projections and orchestrates the whole-body function.Emerging studies suggest that brain dysfunction in sensing various internal cues or processing external cues may have profound effects on metabolic and other physiological functions.This review highlights brain dysfunction linked to genetic mutations,sex,brain inflammation,microbiota,stress as causes for whole-body pathophysiology,arguing brain dysfunction as a root cause for the epidemic of aging and obesity-related disorders.We also speculate key issues that need to be addressed on how to reveal relevant brain dysfunction that underlines the development of these disorders and diseases in order to develop new treatment strategies against these health problems.

Objective:To explore the concept of burnout among nurses.Through this concept analysis would expect in assisting hospital management departments in establishing supportive programmes to manage burnout of nurses.Method:Walker and Avant’s framework is adopted for the concept analysis of burnout.Results:Burnout is a syndrome that can happen among helping professions which characterized as emotional exhaustion,depersonalization,and reduced personal accomplishment.The antecedents of burnout are cognitive-competence,role overload,role conflict,lack of social support,and rewards.On the other hand,the consequences of burnout could be both personal and organizational,such as sub-clinical issues,behavioral change,absenteeism,and poor quality of care.Conclusion:The analysis of burnout on its attributes,together with antecedents and consequences(Appendix A)and presenting with case study,it may help the nurse to gain a better understanding of nurse burnout and build coping strategies.

The clinical use of placebo that involves some ethical issues has led to much controversy.From the standpoint of both supporters and opponents,this article discusses this topic from three ethical principles such as beneficence,justice,and autonomy and also gives the recommendations.Finally,the moral dilemma caused by the different views between nurses and doctors in clinical practice is discussed.

BACKGROUND Previous studies have reported that low hematocrit levels indicate poor survival in patients with ovarian cancer and cervical cancer,the prognostic value of hematocrit for colorectal cancer(CRC)patients has not been determined.The prognostic value of red blood cell distribution width(RDW)for CRC patients was controversial.AIM To investigate the impact of RDW and hematocrit on the short-term outcomes and long-term prognosis of CRC patients who underwent radical surgery.METHODS Patients who were diagnosed with CRC and underwent radical CRC resection between January 2011 and January 2020 at a single clinical center were included.The short-term outcomes,overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS)were compared among the different groups.Cox analysis was also conducted to identify independent risk factors for OS and DFS.RESULTS There were 4258 CRC patients who underwent radical surgery included in our study.A total of 1573 patients were in the lower RDW group and 2685 patients were in the higher RDW group.There were 2166 and 2092 patients in the higher hematocrit group and lower hematocrit group,respectively.Patients in the higher RDW group had more intraoperative blood loss(P<0.01)and more overall complications(P<0.01)than did those in the lower RDW group.Similarly,patients in the lower hematocrit group had more intraoperative blood loss(P=0.012),longer hospital stay(P=0.016)and overall complications(P<0.01)than did those in the higher hematocrit group.The higher RDW group had a worse OS and DFS than did the lower RDW group for tumor node metastasis(TNM)stage I(OS,P<0.05;DFS,P=0.001)and stage II(OS,P=0.004;DFS,P=0.01)than the lower RDW group;the lower hematocrit group had worse OS and DFS for TNM stage II(OS,P<0.05;DFS,P=0.001)and stage III(OS,P=0.001;DFS,P=0.001)than did the higher hematocrit group.Preoperative hematocrit was an independent risk factor for OS[P=0.017,hazard ratio(HR)=1.256,95%confidence interval(CI):1.041-1.515]and DFS(P=0.035,HR=1.194,95%CI:1.013-1.408).CONCLUSION A higher preopera

Gas hydrate technology has considerable potential in many fields.However,due to the lack of understanding of the micro mechanism of hydrate formation,it has not been commercially applied so far.Gas hydrate formation is essentially a gas-liquid-solid phase transition of water and gas molecules at a certain temperature and pressure.The key to the hydrate formation is the transformation of water molecule from disordered arrangement to ordered arrangement.In this process,weakly hydrogen bonded water will be correspondingly converted to strongly hydrogen bonded water.Through in situ Raman analysis and experiments,the position change of the corresponding peaks of the strongly hydrogen bonded water and the weakly hydrogen bonded water was compared in this work,and the key microscopic process and influence of gas hydrate formation in different systems were comprehensively studied and summarized.It is found that,with the decrease of temperature,the OAH of the weakly hydrogen bonded water remains unchanged when the temperature drops to a certain value,which is the key to the transformation of water into cage hydrate rather than ice.The conversion from the weakly hydrogen bonded water to the strongly hydrogen bonded water is closely related to the gas-liquid interface force,the hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity of the promoter,the ionization degree of liquid,and the electrostatic field of the system.Among the four most common promoters,tetrahydrofuran(THF)has the highest efficiency in promoting methane(CH4)hydrate formation.Therefore,this study provides a scientific direction and basis for the development of high efficient hydrate formation promoters,which can effectively weaken the hydrogen bond of weakly hydrogen bonded water and promote the conversion of weakly hydrogen bonded water to strongly hydrogen bonded water.

The aim of this article is to summarize the experience of rehabilitation nursing of one case of severe polytrauma caused by earthquake.The key points of the rehabilitation nursing include body posture nursing,orthopedic rehabilitation nursing,pulmonary function rehabilitation nursing,bladder rehabilitation nursing,nutritional support,and psychological rehabilitation nursing.Through the comprehensive rehabilitation nursing interventions,satisfactory outcomes were obtained,and the patient was successfully recovered and discharged after 2 months.

Lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries are promising candidates for next-generation energy storage systems owing to their high energy density and low cost.However,critical challenges including severe shuttling of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)and sluggish redox kinetics limit the practical application of Li-S batteries.Carbon nitrides(C_(x)N_(y)),represented by graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4)),provide new opportunities for overcoming these challenges.With a graphene-like structure and high pyridinic-N content,g-C_(3)N_(4) can effectively immobilize LiPSs and enhance the redox kinetics of S species.In addition,its structure and properties including electronic conductivity and catalytic activity can be regulated by simple methods that facilitate its application in Li-S batteries.Here,the recent progress of applying C_(x)N_(y)-based materials including the optimized g-C_(3)N_(4),g-C_(3)N_(4)-based composites,and other novel C_(x)N_(y) materials is systematically reviewed in Li-S batteries,with a focus on the structure-activity relationship.The limitations of existing C_(x)N_(y)-based materials are identified,and the perspectives on the rational design of advanced C_(x)N_(y)-based materials are provided for high-performance Li-S batteries.

AIM To investigate the modulatory effect of recombinantexpressed vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP) analogue(rVIPa) on trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid(TNBS)-induced colitis in rats. METHODS Forty-eight rats were randomized into six groups: normal control group(Control), model control group(TNBS), ethanol treatment group(ETOH), and VIP treatment groups with different dosage(rVIPa_(1nmol), rVIPa_(2nmol), rVIPa_(4nmol)). Diarrhea and bloody stool were observed. Colonic damage was evaluated histologically. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α( TNF-α), interleukin-10(Il-10), myeloperoxidase(MPO) and endotoxin in colonic tissue and serum were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ElISA). The expression of occludin, ZO-1, Toll-like receptor 4(TlR4),and nuclear factor-kappa B p65(NF-κBp65), IκBα, and p-IκBα were detected by Western blot. RESULTS Administration with 2 nmol rVIPa prevented TNBSinduced necrosis, hyperemia, swelling, inflammation, etc., pathologic changes observed in the inner surface of colon in experimental rats. Moreover, rVIPa significantly decreased colonic TNF-α level(P < 0.001), MPO activity(P < 0.001) and serum endotoxin level(P < 0.01), and remarkably increased colonic Il-10 content(P < 0.001) in rats with TNBS-induced colitis. Furthermore, compared to the TNBS-induced colitis group, 2 nmol rVIPa treatment up-regulated the levels of occludin(P < 0.05) and ZO-1(P < 0.05), NF-κB p65(P < 0.01) and IκBα(P < 0.001), and down-regulated the levels of TlR4. CONCLUSION rVIPa ameliorates TNBS-induced colonic injury and inflammation and effectively protected the intestinal mucosal barrier function in rats. The mechanism may be related to TlR4/NF-κB-mediated signaling pathway. rVIPa could be used as a new alternative therapy for intestinal inflammatory disorders.
