In the field of maritime transport,motion and energy,the dynamics of deep-sea waves is one of the major problems in ocean science.A mathematical modeling of dynamics of solitary waves in deep sea under the two-layer stratification leads to NLS equation,and consequently,the interaction two of them can be formulated by coupled NLS *** this work,extended auxiliary equation and the exp(−ω(χ))-expansion methods are employed to make the optical solutions of the Manakov model of coupled NLS *** methods used in this paper,in addition to providing the analysis of individual wave solutions,also provide general optical *** previously known solutions can be obtained by some special selections of parameters obtained by solving systems of algebraic *** this stage,it is more practical and convenient to apply methods with a symbolic calculation system.

Comparison of satellite images with different spatial resolutions to estimate stand structural diversity in urban forests

The structural diversity in urban forests is highly important to protect biodiversity. In particular, fruit trees and bush species, cavity-bearing trees and coarse, woody debris provide habitats for animals to feed, nest and hide. Improper silvicultural practices, intensive recreational use and illegal harvesting lead to a decline in the structural diversity in forests within larger metropolitan cities. It is important to monitor the structural diversity at definite time intervals using effective technologies with a view to instituting the necessary conservation measures. The use of satellite images seems to be appropriate to this end. Here we aimed to identify the associations between the textural features derived from the satellite images with different spatial resolutions and the structural diversity indices in urban forest stands (Shannon-Wiener index, complexity index, dominance index and density of wildlife trees). RapidEye images with a spatial resolution of 5 m × 5 m, ASTER images with a spatial resolution of 15 m × 15 m and Landsat-8 ETM satellite images with a spatial resolution of 30 m × 30 m were used in this study. The first-order (standard deviation of gray levels) and second order (GLCM entropy, GLCM contrast and GLCM correlation) textural features were calculated from the satellite images. When associations between textural features in the images and the structural diversity indices were assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient, very high associations were found between the image textural features and the diversity indices. The highest association was found between the standard deviation of gray levels (SDGLRAP) derived from RVIRAP of RapidEye image and the Shannon-Wiener index (H h) calculated on the basis of tree height (R 2 = 0.64). Determination of sedimentation rates in Izmir Bay using ^(210)Pb radionuclide

In this study, using the constant rate of supply model, sedimentation rates of Izmir Bay were calculated and discussed. For this purpose, eight sediment cores were collected from inner part of the bay and sedimentation rates were calculated from vertical distribution of^(210)Pb.^(210)Pb activities were determined indirectly from ^(210)Po *** rates ranged from 0.10 to 0.52 cm/year. The highest sedimentation rates were determined in stations close to the Poligon stream. It was concluded that main transporting mechanism for sediments is river and streams in the area. In addition, sediment cores taken from the harbor were mixed due to bioturbation, water circulation and/or other factors.

Intramedullary Nailing of Femoral Shaft Fractures with Compressive Nailing Using Only Distal Dynamic Hole and Proximal Static Hole

Objectives: In this study we aimed to present our treatment results of intramedullary nailing of femoral shaft fractures with compressive nailing using proximal static hole and only distal dynamic hole with one screw. Methods: Forty-three patients who had a fracture of the femoral shaft were managed between 2005 and 2008 with intramedullary nailing and the use of only one screw for distal interlocking. Prospectively we evaluated the union time, possible reoperation, fixation and fracture alignment, range of knee motion and complications. Results: Union occurred within a mean duration of 18.7 weeks. No failures of the fixation and fracture alignment and no more than 1 cm shortness were detected. The knee range of motion was all more than 90 degree. Only one deep venous thrombosis was detected as complication. Conclusions: Compressive nailing using proximal hole and only distal dynamic hole with one screw is a convenient technique for femur fractures.
