目的:研究老年性黄斑变性(AMD)等级、血清抗氧化维生素水平(维生素A、C和E)和吸烟的关系。方法:对84例患者行黄斑彩色眼底成像,根据AMD损伤率和损伤程度将其分为五组(等级I^V)。应用高效液相色谱法(HPLC)测量血清抗氧化维生素水平。根据吸烟状况分不吸烟者、已戒烟者和吸烟者三组,并统计吸烟者每年的吸烟总量。结果:对照组中,维生素A、E、C水平分别为0.874±0.326mg/L,10.739±4.874mg/L和1.737±0.447mg/L,AMD组中分别为0.880±0.305mg/L,9.487±6.060mg/L和1.870±2.191mg/L,无显著差异(P>0.05)。AMD不同等级分组间维生素A(P=0.881)和E(P=0.293)水平差异无统计学意义,维生素C水平(P=0.044)随AMD程度的加深而增加。根据吸烟状况,AMD组与对照组之间无显著差异。根据每年的吸烟总量,两组之间有显著差异(P=0.02)。AMD越严重,年吸烟总量越高(P=0.007)。结论:研究结果显示AMD与维生素A、E血清水平无关,但和维生素C的血清水平相关,并与吸烟量有关。

Dear Sir, Our group from Pamukkale University Hospital would like to present an observation on hemoptysis that was probably associated with sildenafil usage in two patients. Since hemoptysis occurred immediately the drug was taken and has not recurred following the discontinuation of the drug. We think that after eliminating other risk factors, sildenafil might be a probable cause of transient hemoptysis.

A case of solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas

We present ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings in a case with pancreatic solid pseudopapillary tumor and their correlations with histopathology. Ultrasound revealed a hypoechogenic mass, and computed tomography revealed a hypodense mass at the pancreatic head minimally enhanced after intravenous contrast agent administration. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a hypointense mass on unenhanced Tl-weighted images including a hyperintense focus representing the hemorrhage. The lesion was hyperintense on T2- weighted images. On the postcontrast images the lesion showed peripheral thin contrast enhancement in arterial phase and enhanced slightly diffusely in venous and equilibrium phases. The patient underwent elective resection of the mass and pancreatoduodenectomy with jejunostomy tube placement. A final diagnosis of solid pseudopapillary tumor was made histoPathologically. Solid pseudopapillary tumor is a rare pancreatic tumor. It is important to make the diagnosis preoperatively because with an adequate surgical resection the prognosis is good. A multimodalitary approach, especially magnetic resonance imaging can suggest the diagnosis without the need for biopsy.

AIM:To investigate the prevalence of coeliac disease in a series of Turkish patients with autoimmune ***:Sera from 136 consecutive patients with newly diagnosed autoimmune thyroiditis and 119 healthy blood donors were tested for IgA tissue transglutaminase antibody with enzyme-linked immunosorbent *** mucosal biopsy from the second part of duodenum was performed in patients with positive antibody ***:Eight patients(5.9%)and one control subject(0.8%)were positive for IgA tissue transglutaminase antibody(OR:7.38,95% CI:0.91-59.85,P = 0.04).Six patients and one control agreed to take *** examination revealed changes classified as Marsh Ⅲa in one,Marsh Ⅱ in one,Marsh Ⅰ in two,and Marsh 0 in two patients with autoimmune throiditis,and MarshⅠin one blood ***:Turkish patients with autoimmune thyroiditis have an increased risk of coeliac disease and serological screening may be useful for early detection of coeliac disease in these *** findings need to be confirmed in a larger series of patients.

AIM： To investigate the role of vasoactive intestinal peptide（VIP） in form-deprivation myopia（FDM）.METHODS： FDM was created in three groups of eight chicks by placing a translucent diffuser on their right *** injections of saline and VIP were applied once a day into the occluded eyes of groups 2 and 3,*** and axial length（AL） measurements were performed on the first and 8^th days of diffuser *** retina mR NA levels of the VIP receptors and the ZENK protein in right eyes of the three groups and left eyes of the first group on day 8 were determined using real time polymerase chain reaction（PCR）.RESULTS： The median final refraction（D） in right eyes were-13.75（-16.00,-12.00）,-11.50（-12.50,-7.50）,and-1.50（-4.75,-0.75） in groups 1,2,and 3,respectively（P〈0.001）.The median AL（mm） in right eyes were 10.65（10.00,11.10）,9.90（9.70,10.00）,and 9.20（9.15,9.25） in groups 1,2,and 3,respectively（P〈0.001）.The median delta-delta cycle threshold（CT） values for the VIP2 receptors were 1.07（0.82,1.43）,1.22（0.98,1.65）,0.29（0.22,0.45） in right eyes of groups 1,2,and 3,and 1.18（0.90,1.37） in left eyes of group 1,respectively（P=0.001）.The median delta-delta CT values for the ZENK protein were 1.07（0.63,5.03）,3.55（2.20,5.55）,undetectable in right eyes of groups 1,2,and 3 and 1.89（0.21,4.73） in left eyes of group 1,respectively（P=0.001）.CONCLUSION： VIP has potential inhibitory effects in the development of FDM.
