From a perspective of chinese medicine （CM）, persons with unregulated ＂unhealthy＂ body constitution （BC） will further develop chronic diseases, such as diabetes mellitus （DM）. Conventional dietary therapy with nutrition component has its limitations in the regulation of ＂unhealthy＂ BC. However, empirical evidence supports that ＂unhealthy＂ BC can be regulated with food natures and flavors from a perspective of CM. Presentations of ＂unhealthy＂ BC types, such as Yin-deficiency, Yang-deficiency and Yin-Yangdeficiency were found in persons with DM. It would be necessary to regulate the ＂unhealthy＂ BC presentations with integration of conventional dietary therapy and chinese food therapy. The ultimate goal is to either stabilize glycaemic control or prevent the development of other chronic diseases leading to reduction of disease burden, such as disease-related poor quality of life, stress of healthcare professionals and the rising of healthcare cost.

AIM:To initially test for the content validity,comprehensibility,test-retest reliability and internal consistency reliability of the Yin-Yang Assessment Questionnaire(YYAQ).METHODS:The process of initial validity and reliability test covered:(1)content validation from the findings of 18 multiple-case studies,validated Yin-and Yangdeficiency assessment questionnaires,relevant literatures and registered chinese medicine practitioners;(2)comprehension with the levels of comprehensibility for each item categorized on a 3-point scale(not comprehensible;moderately comprehensible;highly comprehensible).A minimum of three respondents selecting for each item of moderately or highly comprehensible were regarded as comprehensive;(3)test-retest reliability conducted with a 2-wk *** intraclass correlation coefficients(ICCs)and their 95%CIs were calculated using a two-way random effects *** Signed Rank test for related samples was adopted to compare the medians of test-retest *** ICC value of 0.85 or higher together with P>0.05,was considered acceptable;and(4)internal consistency of the total items was measured and evaluated by Cronbach’s coefficient alpha(α).A Cronbach’sαof 0.7or higher was considered to represent good internal ***:Eighteen Yin-deficiency and 14 Yang-deficiency presentation items were finalized from content *** participants with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)performed the comprehensibility and testretest reliability *** score level of each presentation item was found to be moderate or high in three out of the five ***-retest reliability showed that the single measure ICC of the total Yin-deficiency presentation items was 0.99(95%CI:0.89-0.99)and the median scores on the first and 14thdays were 17(IQR 6.5-27)and 21(IQR 6-29)(P=0.144)*** single measure ICC of the total Yang-deficiency presentation items was 0.88(95%CI:0.79-0.99)and the median scores on the first an

It is largely unknown whether lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)or acute retention of urine(AROU)is linked to shorter life expectancy in *** conducted a multicenter,retrospective database analysis of patients undergoing transurethral resection of prostate(TURP)to study their *** Cox regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier analysis with stratification to age and indication of TURP were *** further performed an age-and sex-matched survival analysis with the general population using data from the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(Hong Kong,china).From January 2002 to December 2012,3496 patients undergoing TURP were included in our study,with 1764 patients in the LUTS group and 1732 patients in the AROU *** age,ischemic heart disease,cerebrovascular accident,and AROU were risk factors of *** aged80 *** to the general population,younger patients in the LUTS group appeared to have better survival(80 years,survival was similar with the general population in both the LUTS and AROU *** conclusion,AROU at young age was associated with mortality,while early detection and management of LUTS may improve survival.

BACKGROUND In women worldwide, breast cancer is the most common cancer. Breast cancer accounted for 26.6% of all new cancers in females diagnosed in 2015 in Hong *** To examine women's awareness, perception, knowledge, and screening practice of breast cancer in Hong *** We carried out a population-based survey using random telephone interviews to women aged 18 or above using the United Kingdom Cancer Research Breast Cancer Awareness Measure(United Kingdom CAM). The data was analysed using proportions, chi-square test(χ~2-test) and adjusted odds ratios(ORs).RESULTS A total of 1000 participants completed the CAM questionnaire from 1,731 responses(response rate = 57.8%) from September to October 2017. One in five and one in four respondents recalled ≥ 3 early warning signs and ≥ 2 risk factors of breast cancer respectively. The majority(62.6%) reported they were not confident that they would notice a change in their breasts. Among the respondents, 16.8% would have regular mammography at least every two *** general, 4 in 10 women had tried practices on preventing breast *** with better result in recalling breast cancer signs and symptoms were more likely to seek immediate medical help when noticed a change in their breasts(χ2-test P = 0.038), and more likely had tried prevention practice(χ~2-test P< 0.001). Respondents received higher education(secondary school or above) had higher breast cancer awareness(OR = 2.83, CI: 1.61-4.97), more frequent screening(OR = 2.64, CI: 1.63-4.26) and more had tried prevention practices(OR = 2.80, CI:1.96-4.02) when compared to those with lower education. To observe the safety and effectiveness of a topical herbal agent used to promote fracture healing, a herbal patch containing extracts of three herbs, viz., Flos Carthami, Radix Dipsaci, Rhizoma Rhei and Borneolum Syntheticum (an enhancer) was applied on ten subjects with un-displaced fifth metatarsal fractures. Pain scores, foot and ankle function questionnaires and regional swelling were carefully assessed and recorded. Peripheral blood was taken to measure the inflammation cytokines. Assessment checks were performed biweekly to enforce effective patch application and compliance. The results showed that pain improved after two weeks and fracture sites swelling had 20% reduction in thickness when measured with an ultrasonic tool. Foot and ankle functional scores markedly improved after six weeks. Radiological examinations revealed early perfect fracture unions. The topical herbal patch was effective in promoting fracture healing. It was well tolerated by the fracture patients. Larger randomized controlled trials would be indicated.

ISIS, which abbreviates Intelligent Speech for InformationSystems, is a trilingual spoken dialog system (SDS) for thefinancial *** handles two dialects of chinese(Cantonese and Putonghua), as well as English—thepredominant languages in our region. The system supportsspoken language queries regarding stock market informationand simulated personal portfolios. Real-time information isretrieved directly from a dedicated Reuters satellite *** a system test-bed for our work in multilingualspeech recognition and generation, speader authentication,language understanding and dialog modeling. Furthermore,ISIS supports our new explorations in: (i) CORBA‘sinteroperability and scalability for SDS development, (ii)asynchronous human-computer interaction by delegation toKQML software agents;(iii) switching between onlineinteraction and offline delegation in a single dialog thread,and (iv) automatic incorporation of newly listed stocks toexpand our system’s knowledge base.

JUNO is a multi-purpose neutrino observatory under construction in the south of *** publication presents new sensitivity estimates for the measurement of the △m_(31)^(2),△m_(21)^(2),sin^(2)θ_(12),and sin^(2)θ_(13) oscillation parameters using reactor antineutrinos,which is one of the primary physics goals of the *** sensitivities are obtained using the best knowledge available to date on the location and overburden of the experimental site,the nuclear reactors in the surrounding area and beyond,the detector response uncertainties,and the reactor antineutrino spectral shape constraints expected from the TAO satellite *** is found that the △m_(21)^(2) and sin^(2)θ_(12) oscillation parameters will be determined to 0.5%precision or better in six years of data *** the same period,the △m_(31)^(2) parameter will be determined to about 0.2%precision for each mass ordering *** new precision represents approximately an order of magnitude improvement over existing constraints for these three parameters.
