In animals,serotonin is a neurotransmitter and mood *** plants,serotonin functions in energy acquisition,tissue maintenance,delay of senescence,and response to biotic and abiotic *** this study,we examined the effect of serotonin enrichment of rice endosperm on plant growth,endosperm development,and grain *** do so,TDCs and T5H were selected as targets for serotonin *** of TDC1 or TDC3 increased serotonin accumulation relative to overexpression of T5H in rice *** lines of target genes driven by the Gt1 promoter showed better field performance than those driven by the Ubi *** of T5H showed little effect on plant growth or grain physicochemical *** neuronal cell culture assays,serotonin induced neuroprotective action against *** of rice cultivars with high serotonin content may be beneficial for health and nutrition.

Isolation of triplet pnictinidenes,which bear two unpaired electrons at the pnictogen centers,has long been a great challenge due to their intrinsic high ***,we report the syntheses and characterizations of two bismuthinidenes MsFluindtBu-Bi(3) and MsFluind*-Bi(4) stabilized by sterically encumbered hydrindacene *** were facilely prepared through reductions of the corresponding dichloride precursors with 2 molar equivalents of potassium *** structural analyses revealed that 3 and 4contain a one-coordinate bismuth atom supported by a Bi-C single σ *** a consequence,the remaining two Bi 6p orbitals are nearly degenerate,and 3 and 4 possess triplet ground *** characterizations with multinuclear magnetic resonance,magne tome try and near infrared spectroscopy coupled to wavefunction based ab initio calculations concurred to evidence that there exist giant and positive zero field splittings(>4300 cm-1) in their S=1 ground *** even at room temperature the systems almost exclusively populate the lowest-energy nonmagnetic Ms=0 level,which renders them seemingly diamagnetic.

Diatomite supported nano zero valent iron(n ZVI)catalyst(NDA)with complex network structure was prepared via a mild reduction precipitation method in this *** pore structure and pore distribution of NDA can be regulated and controlled through adjusting the loading amount of n *** general,the nano three-dimensional network formed by n ZVI and diatomite channels greatly increase the specific surface area and pore volume of NDA,and further formed more active sites,which made NDA have better performance in activating PMS to degrade BPA than pure n *** pseudo-first-order reaction rate constant of 50-NDA(50%-n ZVI/diatomite)is almost 3 times higher than that of pure n ***,the electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)and radical quenching experiments showed that the activation process was dominated by the sulfate radical(SO_(4)^(-))and hydroxyl radical(·OH)produced by Fe;*** generated electrons promote the self-decomposition of PMS to produce singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2)),and then the valence state of iron changes to produce free *** addition,the possible degradation pathway of BPA was inferred from the intermediate products identified by liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer(LC-MS).This study provides a novel strategy for the design and preparation of three-dimensional composite catalysts derived from natural mineral.

Three new cationic polymerizable surfactants are synthesized by the reaction of alkylmaleic hemiester with glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride. Their structures are confirmed by H-1 NMR, IR and elements analysis. The values of CMC and gamma (CMC) of these surfactants have been measured. One can obtain nearly monodisperse polystyrene latex by emulsion polymerization using the polymerizable surfactant.

Previous studies have shown that the compound(E)-2-(3,4-dihydroxystyryl)-3-hydroxy-4H-pyran-4-one(D30),a pyromeconic acid derivative,possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties,inhibits amyloid-β aggregation,and alleviates scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment,similar to the phase Ⅲ clinical drug *** this study,we established a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease via intracerebroventricular injection of fibrillar amyloid-β to investigate the effect of D30 on fibrillar amyloid-β-induced *** results showed that D30 alleviated fibrillar amyloid-β-induced cognitive impairment,promoted fibrillar amyloid-β clearance from the hippocampus and cortex,suppressed oxidative stress,and inhibited activation of microglia and astrocytes.D30 also reversed the fibrillar amyloid-β-induced loss of dendritic spines and synaptic protein ***,we demonstrated that exogenous fibrillar amyloid-βintroduced by intracerebroventricular injection greatly increased galectin-3 expression levels in the brain,and this increase was blocked by *** the role of D30 in clearing amyloid-β,inhibiting neuroinflammation,protecting synapses,and improving cognition,this study highlights the potential of galectin-3 as a promising treatment target for patients with Alzheimer's disease.

The electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction(eNO_(3)^(-)RR)is considered an effective approach for converting nitrate-containing wastewater to *** adsorption and activation of NO_(3)^(-)is the critical step for many materials and the high energy barrier inhibits the continuation of the reduction *** Co nanoparticles encapsulated in the carbon layer we prepared spontaneously react with NO_(3)^(-)and the resulting Co^(2+)is then reduced by electroreduction to Co^(0),which circulates *** resulted in overcoming the energy input required for NO_(3)^(-)adsorption and conversion,thereby increasing the catalytic *** the same time,the morphology of the catalyst reconstructed from a dodecahedron to an interwoven nanosheet structure and the increased surface area also gives it better *** obtained Co(OH)_(2)@Co-N-C has an excellent eNO_(3)^(-)RR of 2774.7μg·h^(-1)·cm^(-2)with a faraday efficiency of 81.4%in neutral *** the same time,the material-modified electrode can run stably for more than 100 *** work provides a new idea for the design of Co-based catalysts for eNO_(3)^(-)RR.

Rechargeable lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries,featuring high energy density,low cost,and environmental friendliness,have been dubbed as one of the most promising candidates to replace current commercial rechargeable Li-ion ***,their practical deployment has long been plagued by the infamous“shuttle effect”of soluble Li polysulfides(LiPSs)and the rampant growth of Li ***,it is important to specifically elucidate the solvation structure in the Li-S system and systematically summarize the feasibility strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect and the growth of Li dendrites for practical *** review attempts to achieve this *** this review,we first introduce the importance of developing Li-S batteries and highlight the key ***,we revisit the working principles of Li-S batteries and underscore the fundamental understanding of ***,we summarize some representative characterization techniques and theoretical calculations applied to characterize the solvation structure of ***,we overview feasible designing strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect of soluble LiPSs and the growth of Li ***,we conclude and propose personal insights and perspectives on the future development of Li-S *** envisage that this timely review can provide some inspiration to build better Li-S batteries for promoting practical applications.
