Donor-derived infections among Chinese donation after cardiac death liver recipients

AIM To investigate blood cultures of deceased donors and report the confirmed transmission of bacterial infection from donors to liver *** We retrospectively studied the results of blood cultures among our donation after cardiac death(DCD) donors and calculated the donor-derived bacterial infection rates among liver recipients. Study participants underwent liver transplantation between January 1, 2010 and February 1, 2017. The study involved a total of 67 recipients of liver grafts from 67 DCD donors. We extracted the data of donors' and patients' characteristics, culture results and clinical outcomes, especially the post-transplant complications in liver recipients, from electronic medical records. We analyzed the characteristics of the donors and the corresponding liver recipients with emphasis put on donor-derived *** Head trauma was the most common origin of death among our 67 DCD donors(46.3%). Blood taken prior to the procurement operation was cultured for 53 of the donors, with 17 episodes of bloodstream infections developing from 13 donors. The predominant organism isolated from the blood of donors was Gram-positive bacteria(70.6%). Only three(4.5%) of 67 liver recipients developed confirmed donor-derived bacterial infections,with two isolates of multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae and one isolate of multidrug-resistant Enterobacter aerogenes. The liver recipients with donorderived infections showed relation to higher crude mortality and graft loss rates(33.3% each) within 3 mo post transplantation, as compared to those without donor-derived infections(9.4% and 4.7%, respectively). All three liver recipients received appropriate antimicrobial *** Liver recipients have high occurrence of donor-derived infections. The liver recipients with donor-derived multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae infections can have good outcome if appropriate antimicrobial therapy is given.

Effects of ischemic preconditioning on cyclinD1 expression during early ischemic reperfusion in rats

AIM： To observe the effect of ischemic preconditioning on cyclinD1 expression in rat liver cells during early ischemic reperfusion.METHODS： Fifty-four SD rats were randomly divided into ischemic preconditioning group （IP）, ischemia/ reperfusion group （IR） and sham operation group （SO）. The IP and IR groups were further divided into four sub-groups （n = 6）. Sham operation group （SO） served as the control group （n = 6）. A model of partial liver ischemia/reperfusion was used, in which rats were subjected to liver ischemia for 60 min prior to reperfusion. The animals in the IP group underwent ischemic preconditioning twice for 5 min each time prior to the ischemia/reperfusion challenge. Alter 0, 1, 2, and 4 h of reperfusion, serum and liver tissue in each group were collected to detect the level of serum ALT, liver histopathology and expression of cyclinD1 mRNA and protein. Flow cytometry was used to detect cell cycle as the quantity indicator of cell regeneration. RESULTS： Compared with IR group, IP group showed a significantly lower ALT level in 1h to 4h sub-groups （P 〈 0.05）. Proliferation index（PI） indicated by the S-phase and G2/M-phase ratio [（S＋G2/M）/（G0/G1＋S＋G2/M）] was significantly increased in IP group at 0 and 1 h （26.44 ± 7.60% vs 18.56 ± 6.40%,41.87 ± 7.27% vs 20.25 ± 6.70%, P 〈 0.05）. Meanwhile, cyclinD1 protein expression could be detected in IP group. But in IR group, cyclinD1 protein expression occurred 2 h alter reperfusion. The expression of cyclinD1 mRNA increased significantly in IP group at 0 and 1h （0.568 ± 0.112 vs 0.274 ± 0.069, 0.762 ± 0.164 vs 0.348 ± 0.093,P 〈 0.05）.CONCLUSION： Ischemic preconditioning can protect liver cells against ischemia/reperfusion injury, which may be related to cell proliferation and expression of cyclinD1 during early ischemic reperfusion.

The uncertainty and quantum correlation of measurement in double quantum-dot systems

In this work,we study the entropic uncertainty and quantum discord in two double-quantum-dot(DQD)system coupled via a transmission line resonator(TLR).Explicitly,the dynamics of the systemic quantum correlation and measured uncertainty are analysed with respect to a general Xtype state as the initial ***,it is found that the different parameters,including the eigenvalueαof the coherent state,detuning amountδ,frequencyωand the coupling constant g,have subtle effects on the dynamics of the entropic uncertainty,such as the oscillation period of the *** is clear to reveal that the quantum discord and the lower bound of the entropic uncertainty are anti-correlated when the initial state of the system is the Werner-type state,while quantum discord and the lower bound of the entropic uncertainty are not anti-correlated when the initial state of the system is the Bell-diagonal ***,we claim that the current investigation would provide an insight into the entropic uncertainty and quantum correlation in DQDs system,and are basically of importance to quantum precision measurement in practical quantum information processing.

Genetic diversity and differentiation of three populations of Penaeus monodon fabricus

Genetic diversity of two wild Penaeus monodon populations sampled from the coastal waters of Qinglan （ Hainan Province of China, HN） and Malaysia （KD）, and the F1 generation of a Thailand broodstock population （CP） were examined by vertical polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Of 21 loci encoded by ten enzymes, 11 were polymorphic. The mean proportions of polymorphic loci of HN, KD and CP were 36. 36%, 45.45% and 50.00% , with the average heterozygosities of 0.135, 0.181 and 0.191, and the effective numbers of alleles per loci were 1. 300, 1. 330 and 1. 329, respectively. The divergent indexes of HN, KD and CP were0.023, 0.124, and 0.117, respectively. The genetic distance between the two wild populations was 0.005, and the gene differentiation coefficient was also very low （0.014）. The results indicated that the F1 generation population had a higher genetic diversity than the two wild populations, and that the HN population had the lowest one. There was no significant differentiation between HN and KD populations and all populations existed with a slight heterozygote excess.

DELLA Proteins Promote Anthocyanin Biosynthesis via Sequestering MYBL2 and JAZ Suppressors of the MYB/bHLH/WD40 Complex in Arabidopsis thaliana

Anthocyanin accumulation is recognized as a visible biomarker of plants that have suffered from environmental stresses. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying stress-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis remain unclear. Expression of anthocyanin-specific genes is regulated by the conserved MBW complex, which is composed of the MYB, bHLH, and WD40 subunRs in higher plants. MBW activity is repressed by MYBL2 and the JAZ family proteins, which bind competitively to bHLH and MYB/bHLH, respectively. Here, we found that MYBL2 and JAZs mediate gibberellic acid-inhibRed anthocyanin biosynthesis in Arabidopsis. Competitive pull-down and dual-lucifarase assays showed that DELLA proteins directly sequester MYBL2 and JAZ repressors, leading to the release of bHLH/MYB subunits and subsequently to the formation of active MBW complex, which then activates the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway. The JAZ-DELLA-MYBL2 module also plays an Important role in abiotic stress-induced anthocy- anin biosynthesis. Furthermore, we found that the DELLA protein RGA accumulates upon plant exposure to abiotic stresses. Altogether, our data reveal that DELLA-promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis is mediated at least in part by MYBL2 and JAZ regulatory proteins, providing new insights into the coordinated regulation of plant growth and defense through metabolic pathway regulation.

An ubiquitin-like protein SDE2 negatively affects sucrose-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis in Arabidopsis

Anthocyanin biosynthesis is regulated by a conserved transcriptional MBW complex composed of MYB,b HLH and WD40 subunits. However, molecular mechanisms underlying transcriptional regulation of these MBW subunits remain largely elusive. In this study, we isolated an Arabidopsis mutant that displays a constitutive red color in aboveground tissues with retarded growth phenotypes. In the presence of sucrose, the mutant accumulates more than 3-fold anthocyanins of the wild type(WT), but cannot produce anthocyanins as WT in the absence of sucrose. Map-based cloning results demonstrated that the mutation occurs in the locus At4 G01000, which encodes a conserved nuclear-localized ubiquitin-like(UBL) superfamily protein, silencing defective 2(SDE2), in eukaryotes. SDE2 is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues. In the sucrose-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis, SDE2 expression was not responded to sucrose treatment at the early stage but was enhanced at the late stage. SDE2 mutations result in upregulation of anthocyanin biosynthetic and regulatory genes. yeast-two hybrid analysis indicated that SDE2 has no direct interaction with the MYB transcription factor PAP1 and b HLH factor TT8, indicating that SDE2 is a indirect factor to affect anthocyanin accumulation. Taking together, our data suggest that SDE2 may play a role in finely coordinating anthocyanin biosynthesis with other biological processes.

Automatic Road Extraction Using Particle Filters from High Resolution Images

Road extraction plays an important role in many applications such as car navigation, but the manual extraction of roads is a laborious, tedious task. To speed the extraction of roads, an approach based on particle filtering to extract automatically roads from high resolution imagery is proposed. Particle filtering provides a statistical framework for propagating sample-based approximations of posterior distributions and has almost no restriction on the ingredients of the model. We integrate the similarity of grey value and the edge point distribution of roads into particle filtering to deal with complex scenes. To handle road appearance changes the tracking algorithm is allowed to update the road model during temporally stable image observations. A fully automatic initialization strategy is used. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is a promising and fully automatic method for extracting roads from images, even in the presence of occlusions.

BACKGROUND Autologous fat injection in facial reconstruction is a common cosmetic *** cerebral fat embolism(CFE)as a complication is rare,it carries serious health *** SUMMARY We present a case of a 29-year-old female patient who developed acute CFE following facial fat filling *** the surgery,the patient experienced symptoms including headache,nausea,vomiting,and difficulty breathing,which was followed by neurological symptoms such as slurred speech and left-sided *** physical examination and auxiliary investigations,including blood tests,head and neck computed tomography angiography,and cranial magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging,were performed upon *** clinical diagnosis was acute cerebral embolism following facial fat filling *** included measures to improve cerebral circulation,dehydration for intracranial pressure reduction,nutritional support,and rehabilitation therapy for left limb *** patient showed a significant improvement in symptoms after 2 weeks of *** recovered left limb muscle strength to grade 5,had clear speech,and experienced complete relief of *** Our case highlights the potential occurrence of severe complications in patients undergoing fat injection in facial *** prevent these complications,plastic surgeons should enhance their professional knowledge and skills.

Experimental and Theoretical Study of Reactions between Manganese Oxide Cluster Cations and Hydrogen Sulfide

Manganese oxide cluster cations Mnm180n＋ were prepared by laser ablation and reacted with hydrogen sulfide （H2S） in a fast flow reactor under thermal collision conditions. A time-of-flight mass spectrometer was used to detect the cluster distributions before and after the interactions with H2S. The experiments suggest that oxygen-for-sulfur （O/S） ex- change reaction to release water took place in the reactor for most of the manganese oxide cluster cations： MnmlSOn＋＋H2S→Mnm18On-1S＋＋H218O. Density functional theory cal- culations were performed for reaction mechanisms of Mn202＋＋H2S, Mn203＋＋H2S, and Mn204＋＋H2S. The computational results indicate these O/S exchange reactions are both thermodynamically and kinetically favorable, thus in good agreement with the experimental observations. The O/S exchange reactions identified in this gas-phase cluster study parallel similar behavior of related condensed phase reaction systems.
