The excellent properties of metallic glass(MG)films make them perfect candidates for the use in miniature systems and ***,their high coefficients of friction(COFs)and poor wear resistance considerably limit their long-term performance in nanoscale *** report the fabrication of a MG/graphene multilayer by the repeated deposition of Cu_(50)Zr_(50) MG with alternating layers of *** microstructure of the multilayer was characterized by the transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Its mechanical and nanotribological properties were studied by nanoindentation and nanoscratch tests,respectively.A molecular dynamics(md)simulation revealed that the addition of graphene endowed the MG with superelastic recovery,which reduced friction during *** comparison with the monolithic MG film,the multilayer exhibited improved wear resistance and a low COF in repeated nanowear tests owing to the enhanced mechanical properties and lubricating effect caused by the graphene *** work is expected to motivate the design of other novel MG films with excellent nanowear properties for engineering applications.

A novel scheme for the design of an ultra-compact and high-performance optical switch is proposed and investigated numerically. Based on a standard silicon(Si) photonic stripe waveguide, a section of hyperbolic metamaterials(HMM) consisting of 20-pair alternating vanadium dioxide (VO_2)∕Si thin layers is inserted to realize the switching of fundamental TE mode propagation. Finite-element-method simulation results show that, with the help of an HMM with a size of 400 nm × 220 nm × 200 nm(width × height × length), the ON/OFF switching for fundamental TE mode propagation in an Si waveguide can be characterized by modulation depth(md) of5.6 d B and insertion loss(IL) of 1.25 dB. It also allows for a relatively wide operating bandwidth of 215 nm maintaining md > 5 dB and IL yers could be useful for reducing metal-insulator-transition temperature and thus improving switching performance. In general, our findings may provide some useful ideas for optical switch design and application in an on-chip all-optical communication system with a demanding integration level.

The tight sandstones of the Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation（T_3x） constitute important gas reservoirs in western *** Xujiahe sandstones are characterized by low to very low porosity （av.5.22%and 3.62%） for the T_3x^4 and T_3x^2 sandstones,respectively）,extremely low permeability（av. 0.060 md and 0.058 md for the T_3x^4 and T_3x^2 sandstones,respectively）,strong heterogeneity,micronano pore throat,and poor pore throat *** a result of complex pore structure and the occurrence of fractures,weak correlations exist between petrophysical properties and pore throat size,demonstrating that porosity or pore throat size alone does not serve as a good permeability *** improved correlations can be obtained between permeability and porosity when pore throat radii are incorporated. Correlations between porosity,permeability,and pore throat radii corresponding to different saturations of mercury were established,showing that the pore throat radius at 20%mercury saturation（R_（20）） is the best permeability *** regression analysis and artificial neural network（ANN） methods were used to establish permeability prediction models and the unique characteristics of neural networks enable them to be more successful in predicting permeability than the multivariate regression *** addition, four petrophysical rock types can be identified based on the distributions of R_（20）,each exhibiting distinct petrophysical properties and corresponding to different flow units.

Marek＇s disease（md） is a lymphoproliferative disease of domestic chickens caused by a highly infectious,oncogenic alpha-herpesvirus known as Marek＇s disease virus（mdV）.The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of four commercial mdV vaccines in Wenchang *** 1-day old Wenchang chickens tested were injected with one of four different vaccines or not unvaccinated as control;five days later,they were then challenged by virulent mdV strain *** results showed that,in comparison with HVT vaccines,the CVI988 vaccine gave the immunized chickens more potent immunities against challenges of mdV strain md5.

Complex structural variants(CSVs) are genomic alterations that have more than two breakpoints and are considered as the simultaneous occurrence of simple structural ***,detecting the compounded mutational signals of CSVs is challenging through a commonly used model-match *** a result,there has been limited progress for CSV discovery compared with simple structural ***,we systematically analyzed the multi-breakpoint connection feature of CSVs,and proposed Mako,utilizing a bottom-up guided model-free strategy,to detect CSVs from paired-end short-read ***,we implemented a graph-based pattern growth approach,where the graph depicts potential breakpoint connections,and pattern growth enables CSV detection without pre-defined *** evaluations on both simulated and real datasets revealed that Mako outperformed other ***,validation rates of CSVs on real data based on experimental and computational validations as well as manual inspections are around 70%,where the medians of experimental and computational breakpoint shift are 13 bp and 26 bp,***,the Mako CSV subgraph effectively characterized the breakpoint connections of a CSV event and uncovered a total of 15 CSV types,including two novel types of adjacent segment swap and tandem dispersed *** analysis of these CSVs also revealed the impact of sequence homology on the formation of *** is publicly available at https://***/xjtu-omics/Mako.

In order to prove up the interaction between konjac glucomannan （KGM） and other amyloses, by using KGM, guaran gum and carrageenan as materials, their blending in different external conditions was modeled by means of molecular dynamics （md） *** result showed that 323 K was a significant turning point for the formation of hydrogen bond, and KGM and guaran gum were just juxtaposed together via intermolecular hydrogen bond; but with the addition of carrageenan, KGM, guaran gum and carrageenan were spirally twisted together, and when their blending proportion is 3：2：9 the combination was the most compact. Moreover, the research result has provided the sequent studies afterwards on amyloses with some references.
