A brief review on the diagnostic and therapeutic principles of primary urethral cancer

Objective:Primary urethral carcinoma(PUC)is a rare malignant carcinoma but with limited therapeutic options.This review aims to provide an overview of the current strategies on this patient settings.Methods:Recent literature ranging from January 1987 and December 2021 was assessed through PubMed search to assess the diagnostic and therapeutic principles of PUC.Results:A complete of examination including cystoscopy,imaging,and biopsy should be conducted for these patients.Once diagnosed,the clinical decision of PUC should be made according to the tumor location,pathological pattern,and extent of the tumor.For patients with superficial and distal urethral lesions,organ sparing approaches or radical reconstructive procedures can be utilized.While for more advanced disease or nodal involvement,an optimal multimodal treatment strategy consisted of surgery and radiochemotherapy should be adopted.For patients with urothelial carcinoma of the prostate,the management including transurethral resection of the prostate followed by bacille Calmette-Guerin or radical cysto-prostatectomy should depend on the infiltration depth of PUC.Conclusion:A complete of examination is important for the diagnosis of PUC.The management of PUC should be determined by the location,pathological pattern,and extent of the tumor.More multi-institutional collaborations should be held to investigate better treatment modal-ities for PUC.

A mirror mode wave is a fundamental magnetic structure in the planetary space environment that is persistently compressed by solar wind,especially in the magnetosheath.Mirror modes have been widely identified in the magnetosheaths of the Earth and other planets in the solar system,yet the understanding of mirror mode waves on extraterrestrial planets is not as comprehensive as that on the Earth.Using magnetic field data collected by the Cassini spacecraft,we found peak and dip types according to the magnetic morphology(i.e.,structures with higher or lower magnetic strengths than the background field).Moreover,mirror mode waves and electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves were found one after the other,implying that the two wave modes may evolve into one another in the Kronian magnetosheath.The results indicate that many fundamental plasma processes associated with the mirror mode structure exist in the Kronian magnetosheath.The energy conversion in Saturn’s magnetosheath may provide key insights that will aid in understanding giant planetary magnetospheric processes.

Fully coordinated Cell-Free(CF)networks can alleviate the Inter-Cell Interference(ICI)for the cell-edge users in cellular networks.Due to the complex topology of the association between the Access Points(APs)and the users in CF networks,it is challenging to deploy CF networks in practical scenarios.In order to make CF networks feasible,we introduce User-Centric(UC)networks enabling each user served by a limited number of APs.As a low-cost and energy-efficient technology,Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface(RIS)can be embedded in UC networks to further improve the system performance.First,we provide a brief survey on the prior works in UC networks for clear comprehension.Then,we formulate a Spectral Efficiency(SE)maximization problem for RIS-enhanced UC networks.For solving the non-convex problem,we divide it into three subproblems and propose a joint optimization framework for optimizing AP-user association,active beamforming of multiple antennas at the APs,and the passive beamforming of the RIS.Besides,a channel gain based association method coupled with the design of RIS is proposed to construct a dynamic and efficient association.The subproblems about optimizing active and passive beamforming are solved with the fractional programming.Simulation results show that the proposed joint optimization framework for RIS-enhanced UC networks can obtain good SE compared with other benchmark schemes.

This paper deals with the global existence and energy decay of solutions to some coupled system of Kirchhoff type equations with nonlinear dissipative and source terms in a bounded domain. We obtain the global existence by defining the stable set in H0^1 （Ω） × H1 （Ω）, and the energy decay of global solutions is given by applying a lemma of V. Komornik.

Conflict between cell growth and product accumulation is frequently encountered in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. To address the growth-production conflict in yeast strains harboring the isoprene synthetic pathway in the mitochondria, the dynamic control of isoprene biosynthesis was explored. A dual temperature regulation system was developed through engineering and expression regulation of the transcriptional activator Gal4p. A cold-sensitive mutant, Gal4ep19, was created by directed evolution of Gal4p based on an internally developed growth-based high-throughput screening method and expressed under the heat-shock promoter PSSA4 to control the expression of PGAL-driven pathway genes in the mitochondria. Compared to the control strain with constitutively expressed wild-type Gal4p, the dual temperature regulation strategy led to 34.5% and 72% improvements in cell growth and isoprene production, respectively. This study reports the creation of the first cold-sensitive variants of Gal4p by directed evolution and provides a dual temperature control system for yeast engineering that may also be conducive to the biosynthesis of other high-value natural products.

In this paper, the efficient utilization of liquefied natural gas(LNG) vaporization cold energy in offshore liquefied natural gas floating storage regasification unit(FSRU) is studied. On the basis of considering different boil-off gas(BOG) practical treatment processes, a cascade comprehensive utilization scheme of cold energy of LNG based on the longitudinal three-stage organic Rankine cycle power generation and the low-grade cold energy used to frozen seawater desalination was proposed. Through the comparative analysis of the effects of the pure working fluid and eight mixed working fluids on the performance of the new system, the combination scheme of system mixed working fluid with the highest exergy efficiency of the system was determined. Then, the genetic algorithm was used to optimize the parameters of the new system. After optimization, the net output power of the LNG cold energy comprehensive utilization system proposed in this paper was 5186 kW, and the exergy efficiency is 30.6%. Considering the power generation and freshwater revenue, the annual economic benefit of the system operating is 18.71 million CNY.

Membrane electrode assembly reactor offers great promise toward practical CO_(2)electrolysis.Unfortunately,traditional proton exchange membrane possesses strong acidic chemical environment,which facilitates undesired hydrogen evolution reaction.Here we report a proton antagonist strategy,through which the proton diffusion pathways have been severely impeded by Na+cation to produce an alkaline-rich environment.With this new membrane electrode assembly,we can significantly suppress the hydrogen evolution and achieve a Faradaic efficiency of 95.7%for CO with 51.5%energy efficiency.In addition,our proton antagonist membrane outperforms the commercial anion exchange membrane in both conductivity and oxidation resistance lifetime,which are crucial for large scale electrolysis of carbon neutral chemicals.

Non-orthogonality in non-Hermitian quantum systems gives rise to tremendous exotic quantum phenomena,which can be fundamentally traced back to non-unitarity.In this paper,we introduce an interesting quantity(denoted asη)as a new variant of the Petermann factor to directly and efficiently measure non-unitarity and the associated non-Hermitian physics.By tuning the model parameters of underlying non-Hermitian systems,we find that the discontinuity of bothηand its first-order derivative(denoted as■η)pronouncedly captures rich physics that is fundamentally caused by non-unitarity.More concretely,in the 1D non-Hermitian topological systems,two mutually orthogonal edge states that are respectively localized on two boundaries become non-orthogonal in the vicinity of discontinuity ofηas a function of the model parameter,which is dubbed"edge state transition".Through theoretical analysis,we identify that the appearance of edge state transition indicates the existence of exceptional points(EPs)in topological edge states.Regarding the discontinuity of■η,we investigate a two-level non-Hermitian model and establish a connection between the points of discontinuity of■ηand EPs of bulk states.By studying this connection in more general lattice models,we find that some models have discontinuity of■η,implying the existence of EPs in bulk states.
