Increased light availability enhances tolerance against ocean acidification-related stress in the calcifying macroalga Halimedaopuntia

Although the adverse impacts of ocean acidification(OA)on marine calcifiers have been investigated extensively,the anti-stress capabilities regulated by increased light availability are unclear.Herein,the interactive effects of three light levels(30μmol photons/(m^(2)·s),150μmol photons/(m^(2)·s),and 240μmol photons/(m^(2)·s)combined with two pCO_(2)concentrations(400 ppmv and 1400 ppmv)on the physiological acclimation of the calcifying macroalga Halimeda opuntia were investigated using a pCO_(2)-light coupling experiment.The OA negatively influenced algal growth,calcification,photosynthesis,and other physiological performances in H.opuntia.The relative growth rate under elevated pCO_(2)conditions significantly declined by 13.14%−41.29%,whereas net calcification rates decreased by nearly three-fold under OA conditions.Notably,increased light availability enhanced stress resistance through the accumulation of soluble organic molecules,especially soluble carbohydrate,soluble protein,and free amino acids,and in combination with metabolic enzyme-driven activities,OA stress was alleviated.The carotenoid content under low light conditions increased markedly,and the rapid light curve of the relative electron transport rate was enhanced significantly by increasing light intensities,indicating that this new organization of the photosynthetic machinery in H.opuntia accommodated light variations and elevated pCO_(2)conditions.Thus,the enhanced metabolic performance of the calcifying macroalga H.opuntia mitigated OA-related stress.

Decay-like fracture diagnosis of composite insulator based on small sample virtual expansion and radar graph mapping

Due to the complexity of test procedures and the high cost of measurements,the mechanism of the decay-like fracture is unclear,which brings hard concepts and the small sample problem.Therefore,it is intractable to establish accurate data-driven models.To solve the above mentioned problems,this paper proposes a data-driven modeling method based on radar graph mapping models and virtual sample generation(Radar-VSG).The main idea of the proposed method is to construct and select the most appropriate input features by using radar graph mapping,and to generate virtual samples by using the local outlier factor based on the isometric feature mapping algorithm(Isomap-LOF).To verify the effectiveness of our approach,a set of 27 training samples and 127 testing samples from China Southern Power Grid was applied.Experimental results suggested the accuracy was up to 100%after adding more than 27 virtual samples,with a 4.75%improvement.And the model has the best generalisation ability for 270 virtual samples,with the root mean square error of 0.018.Compared with support vector machine and four advanced VSG methods,the proposed Radar-VSG can achieve better performance.

Diverse terahertz wavefront manipulations empowered by the spatially interleaved metasurfaces

Optical metasurfaces have advanced approaches for manipulating light information in the spatial domain, in which the spatially interleaved metasurfaces demonstrate the ability to manipulate a more complex wavefront of light than metasurfaces without the spatial interleaving. The potential of the spatially interleaved metasurfaces has not been fully exploited. In this paper, we design the spatially interleaved terahertz(THz) metasurfaces based on the ingenious spatial interleaving principles to develop the diverse THz wavefront manipulations. Four functions are performed, including the orbital angular momentum(OAM)superposition of single-frequency vortex beams, the separate vortex focusing of single-frequency dual beams,the different OAM manipulations of bifrequency beams in different planes, and achromatic focusing. The demonstrated functions prove that the spatially interleaved metasurface can manipulate THz wavefront at both single frequency and bifrequency, which traditional metasurfaces cannot. This work paves the way for diverse THz wavefront manipulations.

If a metalens integrates the circular polarization(CP)conversion function,the focusing lens together with circular-polariz-ing lens(CPL)in traditional cameras may be replaced by a metalens.However,in terahertz(THz)band,the reported metalenses still do not obtain the perfect and strict single-handed CP,because they were constructed via Pancharatnam-Berry phase so that CP conversion contained both left-handed CP(LCP)and right-handed CP(RCP)components.In this paper,a silicon based THz metalens is constructed using dynamic phase to obtain single-handed CP conversion.Also,we can rotate the whole metalens at a certain angle to control the conversion of multi-polarization states,which can simply manipulate the focusing for incident linear polarization(LP)THz wave in three polarization conversion states,in-cluding LP without conversion,LCP and RCP.Moreover,the polarization conversion behavior is reversible,that is,the THz metalens can convert not only the LP into arbitrary single-handed CP,but also the LCP and RCP into two perpen-dicular LP,respectively.The metalens is expected to be used in advanced THz camera,as a great candidate for tradi-tional CPL and focusing lens group,and also shows potential application in polarization imaging with discriminating LCP and RCP.

A full-process intelligent trial system for smart court

In constructing a smart court,to provide intelligent assistance for achieving more efficient,fair,and explainable trial proceedings,we propose a full-process intelligent trial system(FITS).In the proposed FITS,we introduce essential tasks for constructing a smart court,including information extraction,evidence classification,question generation,dialogue summarization,judgment prediction,and judgment document generation.Specifically,the preliminary work involves extracting elements from legal texts to assist the judge in identifying the gist of the case efficiently.With the extracted attributes,we can justify each piece of evidence’s validity by establishing its consistency across all evidence.During the trial process,we design an automatic questioning robot to assist the judge in presiding over the trial.It consists of a finite state machine representing procedural questioning and a deep learning model for generating factual questions by encoding the context of utterance in a court debate.Furthermore,FITS summarizes the controversy focuses that arise from a court debate in real time,constructed under a multi-task learning framework,and generates a summarized trial transcript in the dialogue inspectional summarization(DIS)module.To support the judge in making a decision,we adopt first-order logic to express legal knowledge and embed it in deep neural networks(DNNs)to predict judgments.Finally,we propose an attentional and counterfactual natural language generation(AC-NLG)to generate the court’s judgment.

The development of compressible supercapacitors strongly relies on the design of electrode materials combining superior compressibility,high conductivity with the stable electrochemical cycling performance.In this work,we report a facile yet scalable strategy to construct a highly compressible supercapacitor by integrating the current collector,active materials and the separator into one device.We use the highly compressive melamine foam(MF)as scaffold and the Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)nanosheets as the active materials.Filling the few-layer Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)nanosheets into the skeleton of MF by capillary force followed by freeze-drying yields the MF/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)composite with superior structural integrity that can be compressed at a large strain of 50%for 100 cycles.The electrochemical performances of the all-in-one supercapacitor were systematically investigated under diverse compression strains.The improved conductivity and reduced ion diffusion length allow the all-in-one supercapacitor to exhibit fast ion and electron kinetics even at high strain of 60%,delivering a maximal volumetric specific energy of 0.37 mWh∙cm^(-3)at power density of 0.42 mW∙cm^(-3)and extraordinary cycling performance during the 2,500 compression cycles.

Binary encoding-inspired generation of vector vortex beams

Vortex and vector terahertz(THz)beams with inhomogeneous polarization states have become a considerable hot topic in the last decade due to their important roles in multiplexed wireless data transmission.However,the technical instruments to form and evaluate such beams are rather limited,as they are mainly collected in the visible range.The emergence of coded metasurfaces has reinvigorated the design of functional devices with multiple degrees of freedom.Here,we demonstrate a versatile design inspired by a binary encoding approach for generating off-axis vectorial THz beams on all-silicon metasurfaces.Experimentally,simultaneous manipulation of the encoding method within the orthogonal circularly polarized(CP)channel provides strong support for developing versatility in vector THz beams,including the generation of arbitrary polarization profiles and the directional emission of multiplexed vector vortex beams(VVBs)with specified polarization states.The introduction of the latitudinal polarization control factor guarantees that continuously rotating or independently designed vector polarization profiles can be obtained on a pre-defined focal plane.Subsequently,a universal parametric theoretical model is developed to analyze the evolutionary trend of off-axis VVB in detail.Notably,the proposed monolayer vector metasurface bypasses the requirement of multiple cascaded optical elements,further inducing the advancement of ultra-thin vector THz sources,and also facilitating the generation of vector fields with tailored polarization distributions in 3D space.

Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(Td T) has been characterized as template-independent polymerase using single-stranded DNA(ss DNA) as primers to generate random oligonucleotides. However, the extension performance of Td T to single-stranded RNA(ss RNA) is vague. By systematically comparing and contrasting the performance of Td T-catalyzed ss DNA and ss RNA extension, it is indicated that the catalytic efficiency of ss RNA as primers was about 3 times lower than ss DNA as primers. Collectively, it is believed that understanding the catalytic performance of Td T will help to design the strategy to synthesize chimeric DNA on 3-OH of ss RNA, which becomes invaluable.

Broadband and tunable terahertz absorption via photogenerated carriers in undoped silicon

Terahertz absorbers based on doped silicon have achieved broadband and high-efficiency absorption due to their high concentration of carriers.However,their tunable performance is obviously insufficient.Here,we propose a new scheme for active terahertz absorption based on undoped silicon with a metamaterial antireflection layer,which realizes both strong absorption and ultrahigh modulation depth.Benefiting from the weak absorption and high transmission of undoped silicon for 1064-nm continuous wave,uniformly distributed carriers across the entire thickness of the absorber are excited,and efficient free carrier absorption of the terahertz wave is obtained.We use only a 500-μm thick absorber and achieve absorption greater than 90%in the range of 0.58 to 1.92 THz,with a peak value of 99%.More important,the absorber can be switched between two working states of nonabsorption and high-efficiency absorption by changing the pump power,which means the modulation depth reaches 100%.This simple and high-performance implementation scheme provides a new idea for the design of terahertz tunable absorbers.

目的分析司美格鲁肽、德谷胰岛素联合二甲双胍治疗血糖控制不佳伴超重或肥胖2型糖尿病患者的疗效。方法选取巴彦淖尔市医院2022年4月至2023年3月收治的血糖控制不佳伴超重或肥胖2型糖尿病患者160例进行病例对照研究,根据治疗方案不同分为对照组、观察组各80例。对照组采用德谷胰岛素联合二甲双胍治疗,观察组采用司美格鲁肽、德谷胰岛素联合二甲双胍治疗,两组治疗12周。观察两组空腹血糖(FPG)、餐后2 h血糖(2 h PG)、糖化血红蛋白(HbA1c)、餐后2 h血糖目标范围内时间(TIR)、空腹胰岛素(FINS)、胰岛素抵抗指数(HOMAIR)、身体质量指数(BMI)、内脏脂肪面积(VFA)的变化和不良反应发生情况。结果观察组总有效率为100.0%(80/80),高于对照组的97.5%(78/80)(χ^(2)=11.03,P0.05)。结论司美格鲁肽、德谷胰岛素联合二甲双胍治疗血糖控制不佳伴超重或肥胖2型糖尿病患者临床效果理想,可有效控制空腹及餐后血糖水平,明显降低身体质量指数和内脏脂肪水平,改善胰岛素抵抗且不明显增加不良反应。
