Wind Turbine Power Output Assessment in Built Environment

In future planning of the city, it is very important to consider the proper intelligent integration of renewable energy sources into the built environment for developing smart cities. Analysis of the wind velocity profile in the built environment is very important for finding out the energy content in the wind and also to analyze the performance of wind turbines in the built environment. In this study, building topologies of smart city are investigated for finding out the wind velocity profile and the wind turbine power output in the built environment. The wind velocity distribution across buildings is numerically simulated by using commercial CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software CFD-ACE+. Wind turbine power output is estimated by using the power curve of real commercial wind turbine and wind velocity distribution simulated by CFD software. It has been observed that the wind is accelerated in the intervening space between the buildings irrespective of distance between the walls of adjacent buildings under the condition, which are investigated in this study. The wind is accelerated across buildings, and is reduced rapidly after blowing through buildings, and recovered gradually. Since the wind is accelerated in the intervening space between buildings and reduced in the area at the back of buildings, a wind turbine should be installed at the area at the back of the buildings and located on center between the buildings. In this work, it is observed that size dimensions and layout of the building are effective in realizing a smart city for utilizing renewable energy such as wind turbine in the built environment.

Several reports that chronic gastritis is a precancerous condi-tion have been reaffirmed. In the terms of premalignant potentialit should be classified according to the etiological and topographicpatterns of the disease, the degree of epithelial atrophy, distri-bution of lesions and the presence or absence of metaplasticchanges, especially the geographic pathology of the disease shouldbe considered. Although there are many histological classificationof chronic gastritis to be offered but there are few reports to befound in literature that patients with chronic gastritis appearedin different pattern in different countries. The purpose of thepaper is that being given a comparative study on topographicpattern of the disease in Japanese and Chinese for exploringwhat kinds of relationship, if any, existed betwen the chronicgastritis and stomach cancer.

Optimization of Building Layouts to Increase Wind Turbine Power Output in the Built Environment Assumed to Be Installed at Fukushima City and Tsu City in Japan

It is very important to consider proper intelligent integration and locations of renewable energy sources into the built environment for developing smart cities. Wind speed distribution study in the built environment is very essential for analyzing the wind turbine performance located in the built environment. In this work, the building layout like nozzle is proposed and the objective is to optimize the building layout for increasing electrical energy output of wind turbine, assumed to be installed in actual cities of Japan. The wind speed distribution across buildings is numerically simulated by using CFD-ACE+. Wind turbine power output is estimated using the power curve of a real commercial wind turbine and wind speed distribution is simulated using CFD software. The meteorological data of Fukushima city and Tsu city of Japan are utilized for evaluating the wind speed distribution profile across the building and for finding the electrical energy output from wind turbine. The proposed building models, which have the angle between two buildings like nozzle of 90°, 135° and 180°, can provide the wind acceleration at the back of buildings for the wind blowing from the main wind direction and the angle of 135°is optimum building layout. In the case of installing the proposed building model in Fukushima city and Tsu city, the wind energy output in winter season is higher while that in summer season is lower irrespective of the buildings’ angle. The interaction between the change in frequency distribution of wind speed and direction throughout the year and the location of open tip of building model decides the power generation characteristics of the proposed building model.

Early effects of oral administration of omeprazole and roxatidine on intragastric pH

Objective： The ideal medication for the treatment of acid-related diseases, e.g., peptic ulcers, stress- related gastric bleeding, functional dyspepsia, and gastroesophageal reflux disease, should have a rapid onset of action to promote hemostasis and relieve the symptoms. The aim of our study was to investigate the inhibitory effects on gastric acid secretion of a single oral administration of a proton pump inhibitor, omeprazole 20 mg, and an H2-receptor antagonist, roxatidine 75 mg. Methods： Ten Heficobacterpylori-negative male subjects participated in this randomized, two-way crossover study. Intragastric pH was monitored continuously for 6 h after single oral admini- stration of omeprazole 20 mg and roxatidine 75 mg. Each administration was separated by a 7-d washout period. Results： During the 6-h study period, the average pH after administration of roxatidine was higher than that after administration of omeprazole （median： 4.45 vs. 2.65; P=0.0367）. Also during the 6-h study period, a longer duration of maintenance at pH above 2, 5, and 6 was observed after administration of roxatidine 75 mg than after administration of omeprazole 20 mg （median： 90.6% vs. 55.2%, P=-0.0284; 43.7% vs. 10.6%, P=0.0125; 40.3% vs. 3.3%, P=0.0125; respectively）. Conclusions： In Helicobacter pylori-negative healthy male subjects, oral administration of roxatidine 75 mg increased the intragastric pH more rapidly than that of omeprazole 20 mg.

Anisakiasis can involve any part of the digestive tract, but most cases reported have involved the stomach;few reports have described colonic anisakiasis. Furthermore, asymptomatic colonic anisakiasis has been reported to be very rare. A 58-year-old Japanese male asymptomatically received colonoscopy due to a fecal occult blood testing positive, and an Anisakis larva was removed in the ascending colon. After colonoscopy, an detailed questionings concerning eating raw fish revealed that the patient ate the liver of raw filefish 21 days before the colonoscopy. Thus, questionings concerning eating the raw fish were very important and helpful for correct diagnosis. This case report demonstrated that colonic anisakiasis can be diagnosed by colonoscopy before severe complications (intestinal obstruction, perforation, and cancer development) occur. Also, biopsy forceps could be used to remove the Anisakis worms, demonstrating that diagnosis and treatment can be simultaneously performed.

When an unruptured aneurysm is found, deciding whether to operate or follow up is one of the most important issues. There are guidelines for making the best final decision on treatment, taking into account the effectiveness of diagnostic and therapeutic devices and the risk-benefit ratio of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The guidelines evidence-based of large clinical data for this purpose are presented by national medical societies. As one of the rupture risk indicators, there is the hazard risk ratio derived by the UCAS Japan research group based on the statistical method of 6697 aneurysms in 5720 patients with cerebral aneurysms of 3 mm or more. Therefore, we investigated the biomechanical significance of this hazard risk ratio using a spherical aneurysm model. It was revealed that 1) the reason why the frequency of aneurysm rupture is relatively high up to about 10 mm, 2) the UCAS hazard risk ratio corresponds to stress of the aneurysm wall, and the true stress can be calculated by multiplying the patient’s blood pressure, and 3) the factors that cause the daughter’s sac (irregular protrusion of the aneurysm wall). In addition, our two methods for measuring the strength of the blood vessel wall of an individual patient were described.

The polymer electrolyte membranes(PEM)consisting of alkylsulfonic acid were successfully synthesized by radiation-induced graft polymerization of methyl acrylate(MA)into a poly(ethylene-co- tetrafluoroethylene)(ETFE)film,followed by sulfonation at an α-carbonyl carbon of MA units in the grafting chain using an equimolar complex of chlorosulfonic acid and 1,4-dioxane(CISOH-Complex). Contrary to MA,sulfonation reaction could not proceed with ClSOH-Complex in the grafting chains of other acrylic acid derivatives(acrylic acid and N,N-dimethylacrylamide).The ion exchange capacity(IEC) and ion conductivity of the MA-grafted PEMs were controlled to the ranges of 0.54-1.47 mmol/g and 0.014-0.14 S/cm by changing the grafting *** has been confirmed that the sulfonation reaction accompanied equimolar decarboxylation of the MA unit to the substituted sulfonic acids(substitution of carboxylic acid with sulfonic acid)with sulfonation degrees of ca.30%.It has been confirmed by titrimetric and gravimetric analyses of sulfonic and carboxylic acids in the film that the sulfonation reaction is accompanied with decarboxylation of the MA units equimolar to the substituted sulfonic acids (substitution of carboxylic acid with sulfonic acid),and that the sulfonation degree was ca.30%.

Here we report imaging studies of a patient with pulmonary benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML). A 44-year-old woman who underwent a hysterectomy for uterine cellular leiomyoma presented with abnormal shadows on a chest X-ray. Chest computed tomography (CT) revealed multiple well-defined nodules in both lungs. Chest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicated these nodules as T1-low/T2-high intensity lesions. Contrast-enhanced MRI indicated these nodules as well-enhanced lesions, while 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-CT revealed no abnormal accumulation in these nodules. Bilateral lung wedge resections were performed for the largest 2 lesions to confirm the diagnosis, and both nodules were histologically diagnosed as BML.
