Use of Dental Inlay for Treatment of Hip Joint Dysregulation: A Case Report

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the improvement of hip joint dysregulation, including pain (coxalgia), tension, and restriction of joint mobility, using a dental gold alloy inlay. The subject was a 63-year-old man who was suffering from the abovementioned symptoms for several months. On placement of the gold alloy inlay on his chest, the joint flexibility was observed to increase, and the severity of the abovementioned symptoms decreased. When the inlay was placed in his tooth, the flexibility of the joint further increased, and all other symptoms disappeared. No side effects were observed, and the prognosis was good. We believe that these effects may be explained using the electromagnetic waves emitted by the inlay and by the restoration of biting conditions. Future multidisciplinary research focusing on possible underlying mechanisms regarding the relation between electromagnetic waves and dentistry is necessary.

This study investigated the ability of microwave holography to accurately reconstruct the tissue structure of the human body. Numerical breast and head phantoms were imaged by 3D near-field holography using backscattered waves obtained by a monostatic planar scan. Complex organizational structures have been reconstructed accurately and quickly. In addition, breasts with relatively simple histology could be reconstructed without the matching liquid.

Tribological Behavior of Thermally Sprayed WC Coatings under Water Lubrication

Thermally sprayed coatings have been used in various fields of industry for enhancing surface characteristics of materials and extending their service life. The contact surface of some mechanical equipment such as the fine pulverization equipment which is used in the woody biomass production process is required to have wear resistance in the water environment. Thermally sprayed coatings would be a good candidate to improve surface wear resistance under water lubrication. The objective of this study was to evaluate the tribological performance of thermally sprayed coatings under water lubrication. Thermally sprayed coatings which were classified into WC, WB and Ni spraying of three categories were compared with water-lubricated sliding test at a sliding velocity of 0.02 m/s and mean pressure of p0 = 10 MPa with a ring-on-disk apparatus. Thermally sprayed coatings showed comparatively high friction coefficient and well wear resistance under water lubrication. WC contained coatings showed better wear resistance than WB and Ni coatings. Thermally sprayed coatings showed obviously different mechanical properties and tribological behaviors, and the effect of wettability and hardness on tribological characteristics was discussed under water lubrication. Friction coefficient increased as the surface contact angle of thermally sprayed coatings increased. The wear rate decreased as the surface hardness of thermally sprayed coatings increased. Wear resistance of thermally sprayed coatings was excellent under water lubrication. WC contained coatings showed lower wear rate than WB and Ni coatings. WC-14CoCr coating showed the lowest wear rate.

A simple all optical system for stopping and storing light pulses is demonstrated. The system consists of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier （EDFA）, a semiconductor optical amplifier （SOA）, and a fiber ring resonator. The results show that the multisoliton generation with a free spectrum range of 2.4 nm and a pulse spectral width of 0.96 nm is achieved. The memory time of 15 min and the maximum soliton output power of 5.94 dBm are noted, respectively. This means that light pulses can be trapped, i.e., stopped optically within the fiber ring resonator.

Certain perovskite-type oxynitrides have bandgaps suitable for renewable hydrogen production via photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical water splitting under visible *** the ordering of oxide and nitride anions in these materials is important because this ordering affects their semiconductor ***, the numerous possible orderings complicate systematic analyses based on density functional theory(DFT) calculations using defined elemental *** work shows that anion ordering in large-scale supercells within perovskite-type oxynitrides can be rapidly predicted based on machine learning, using BaNbO2N(capable of oxidizing water under irradiation up to 740 nm) as an *** learning allows the calculation of the total energy of BaNbO2N directly from randomly selected initial atomic placements without costly structural optimization, thus reducing the computational cost by more than 99.99%.Combined with the Metropolis Monte Carlo method, machine learning permits exploration of the stable anion orderings of large supercells without costly DFT *** work therefore demonstrates a means of predicting the properties of functional materials having complex compositions based on the most realistic elemental arrangements in conjunction with reasonable computational loads.

In this paper we revisit the addition of elliptic curves and give an algebraic proof to the associative law by use of MATHEMATICA. The existing proofs of the associative law are rather complicated and hard to understand for beginners. An ‘‘elementary” proof to it based on algebra has not been given as far as we know. Undergraduates or non-experts can master the addition of elliptic curves through this paper. After mastering it they should challenge the elliptic curve cryptography.
