Chickpea yield is decreasing day by day due to drought stress,which could be an immense risk for future food security in developing *** practices could be the most excellent approach to diminish loss due to this abiotic *** current research work was designed to explore the tolerance reaction of chickpea genotypes against management practices,through morphological and biochemical parameters and evaluate yield performance across drought prone location of *** genotypes BD-6048,BD-6045,BD-6090,BD-6092 and eight management practices,e.g.,severe water stress(SWS),i.e.,without irrigation,10 cm thick mulching with rice straw(mRS),10 cm thick mulching with water hyacinth(mWH),organic amendment through compost(OAC)@3 t ha−1,organic amendment through cow dung@5 t ha−1(OACD),organic amendment through poultry manure@2 t ha−1(OAPm),inorganic amendment through proline application(IAPA)as foliar spray and 16 h hydro-priming(HP).The study revealed that the genotypes BD-6048 showed excellent performance because of the highest chlorophyll,carotenoids,phosphorus,potassium,proline and protein *** highest pod number plant−1 also increased seed yield in *** management practices,IAPA increased relative water content,carotenoids,leaf phosphorus and potassium compared to other management practices and severe water ***,BD-6084 was selected as best genotype because of a significant increase in chlorophyll a and b,carotenoids,and relative water content with *** top performing genotypes can be used for releasing variety and cultivated for sustainable production in drought prone area of Bangladesh.

Assessment of seminal plasma laminin in fertile and infertile men

Aim： To assess laminin levels in the seminal plasma of infertile and fertile men, and to analyze the correlation of laminin levels with sperm count, age, sperm motility and semen volume. methods： One hundred and twenty-five recruited men were equally divided into five groups according to their sperm concentration and clinical examination： fertile normozoospermia, oligoasthenozoospermia, non-obstructive azoospermia （NOA）, obstructive azoospermia （OA） and congenital bilateral absent vas deferens （CBAVD）. The patients＇ medical history was investigated and patients underwent clinical examination, conventional semen analysis and estimation of seminal plasma laminin by radioimmunoassay. Results： Seminal plasma laminin levels of successive groups were： 2.82 ± 0.62, 2.49 ± 0.44, 1.77 ± 0.56, 1.72 ± 0.76, 1.35 ± 0.63 U/mL, respectively. The fertile normozoospermic group showed the highest concentration compared to all infertile groups with significant differences compared to azoospermic groups （P 〈 0.05）. Testicular contribution was estimated to be approximately one-third of the seminal laminin. Seminal plasma laminin demonstrated significant correlation with sperm concentration （r = 0.460, P 〈 0.001） and nonsignificant correlation with age （r = 0.021, P = 0.940）, sperm motility percentage （r = 0.142, P = 0.615） and semen volume （r = 0.035, P = 0.087）. Conelusion： Seminal plasma laminin is derived mostly from prostatic and testicular portions and minimally from the seminal vesicle and vas deferens. Estimating seminal laminin alone is not conclusive in diagnosing different cases of male infertility.

The aim of this paper is to study the existence of integrable solutions of a nonlinear functional integral equation in the space of Lebesgue integrable functions on unbounded interval, L1(R+). As an application we deduce the existence of solution of an initial value problem of fractional order that be studied only on a bounded interval. The main tools used are Schauder fixed point theorem, measure of weak noncompactness, superposition operator and fractional calculus.

To improve the phosphorus(P)recovery efficiency from livestock wastewater,a novel mgO doped mildewed corn biochar with thermal pre-puffing treatment(mg-PBC)and without pre-puffing(mg-BC)was synthesized and *** thermal-puffing pretreatment improved the effectiveness of metal soaking and mgO dispersion.P recovery time with mg-PBC(7 h)was significantly shorter than that with mg-BC(12 h).moreover,mg-PBC showed significantly higher P recovery capacity(241 mg g^(−1))than mg-BC(96.6 mg g^(−1)).P recovery capacity of the mg-PBC fitted to the Thomas model was 90.7 mg g^(−1),which was 4 times higher than that of mg-BC(22.9 mg g^(−1))under column test *** mechanisms involved in P recovery included precipitation,surface complexation,and electrostatic *** adsorption,both mg-BC and mg-PBC showed relatively low regeneration *** P loaded mg-BC(mg-BC-P)and mg-PBC(mg-PBC-P),the later particularly,obviously increased the available P content and promoted plant *** release of P increased with time in the mg-PBC-P treated soil,while it decreased with time in the P fertilizer treated soil.A cost-benefit analysis revealed that thermal-puffing pretreatment greatly increased the profit of mgO doped biochar from−0.66 to 5.90 US$kg^(−1).These findings highlight that biomass pre-puffing is a feasible treatment to produce mgO modified biochar and to recover P from livestock wastewater,and that the mg-PBC-P can be used as a slow-release P fertilizer.

Evaluation of Acute Toxicity and Dosimetric Parameters in High Risk Prostate Cancer Patients Treated by High Radiation Doses

For high risk prostate cancer, the treatment volumes and even dose levels are still a controversial issue. The aim of this study is to evaluate the dosemetric parameters and acute toxicity of dose-escalated whole pelvis (WP) Intensity modulated Radiation Therapy (ImRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VmAT) prostate boost following neoadjuvant and concomitant with androgen deprivation therapy in high-risk prostate cancer patients. This analysis included 73 high-risk prostate cancer patients treated with WP-ImRT followed by boost to the prostate by VmAT to total dose of 80 Gy;between January 2014 and October 2016. Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) was given for all patients before and during radiation therapy. Drawing the dose volume histograms (DVHs) was done for planning target volumes (PTVs), including Prostate PTV & nodal PTV, and organs at risk including rectum, bladder, femoral heads, and bowel bag for the plans. Acute radiation toxicities were reported during the radiation course and the following 3 months. The DVH analysis showed good coverage of PTVs and organs at risk doses were acceptable. No recorded acute Grade ≥ 3 toxicity. Acute grade 1 toxicity for Gastrointestinal (GI) and Genitourinary (GU) were 65% and 35% respectively, while Grade 2 toxicity was 30% for both. The Proctitis and frequency were the commonest acute toxicity and were maximal during the 5th week of radiation therapy. Dose escalation in two phases utilizing Simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) combined with ADT in high risk prostate cancer patient is feasible and associated with acceptable acute GI and GU toxicity.

Novel neuroprotective and hepatoprorective effects of citric acid in acute malathion intoxication

Objective: To study the effect of citric acid given alone or combined with atropine on brain oxidative stress, neuronal injury, liver damage, and DNA damage of peripheral blood lymphocytes induced in the rat by acute malathion exposure. methods: Rats were received intraperitoneal(i.p.) injection of malathion 150 mg/kg along with citric acid(200 or 400 mg/kg, orally), atropine(1 mg/kg, i.p.) or citric acid 200 mg/kg+atropine 1 mg/kg and euthanized 4 h later. Results: malathion resulted in increased lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde) and nitric oxide concentrations accompanied with a decrease in brain reduced glutathione, glutathione peroxidase(GPx) activity, total antioxidant capacity(TAC) and glucose concentrations. Paraoxonase-1, acetylcholinesterase(ACh E) and butyrylcholinesterase activities decreased in brain as well. Liver aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase activities were raised. The Comet assay showed increased DNA damage of peripheral blood lymphocytes. Histological damage and increased expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(i NOS) were observed in brain and liver. Citric acid resulted in decreased brain lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide. meanwhile, glutathione, GPx activity, TAC capacity and brain glucose level increased. Brain ACh E increased but PON1 and butyrylcholinesterase activities decreased by citric acid. Liver enzymes, the percentage of damaged blood lymphocytes, histopathological alterations and i NOS expression in brain and liver was decreased by citric acid. meanwhile, rats treated with atropine showed decreased brain mDA, nitrite but increased GPx activity, TAC, ACh E and glucose. The drug also decreased DNA damage of peripheral blood lymphocytes, histopathological alterations and i NOS expression in brain and liver. Conclusions: The study demonstrates a beneficial effect for citric acid upon brain oxidative stress, neuronal injury, liver and DNA damage due to acute malathion exposure.

Thermoluminescence Energy Response of Copper and magnesium Oxide Doped Lithium Potassium Borate Using a monte Carlo N-Particle Code Simulation

The energy absorption coefficient of Cu-doped lithium potassium borate (LKB) dosimeter and TLD 100 was reported theoretically and checked by simulation of monte Carlo n-particle code version 5 (mCNP5). The response of LKB:Cu for various photon energies (20 keV to 10 meV) were determined by calculation, experiment and simulation. The obtained results were discussed and compared with TLD 100. For more precise results, the geometry specification, the source information, the material information and tallies were identified and fully described. The results obtained by simulation were determined based on the tally F6, which exhibited the response as energy-dependant on heating function instead of flux. The current results showed that the prepared dosimeter has a greater response than TLD 100 in the lower energy range and a flat response in the higher energy ranges (≥100 keV).

Evaluation of Plasma Urokinase-Type Plasminogen Activator Receptor and Interleukin 34 in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C as Serological Fibrosis markers

Background: Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection is a progressive disease that may result in chronic hepatitis, fibrosis and cirrhosis. Assessment of liver fibrosis is an essential factor in the management of chronic HCV. Objective: To evaluate plasma soluble Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor (sUPAR) and interleukin-34 (IL-34) as serological markers of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic HCV. methods: This case-control study enrolled 60 chronic HCV patients who were subdivided into three groups of mild, moderate and severe hepatic fibrosis depending on Fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4). Patients were compared with 20 age and sex-matched controls. Plasma sUPAR and IL-34 levels were measured by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Results: Plasma sUPAR and IL-34 were significantly increased in HCV patients when compared with controls, and their increase was positively correlated with the progression of hepatic fibrosis. Plasma sUPAR and IL-34 positively correlated with Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) and Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), and negatively correlated with hemoglobin concentration and platelet count. The output data of Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve to differentiate patients from controls revealed that sUPAR at cut-off > 186.2 ng/L and Area Under Curve (AUC) of 0.944 had (85%) sensitivity and (100%) specificity, and IL-34 at cut off > 16.4 ng/L and AUC of 0.942 had (75%) sensitivity and (100%) specificity. The output data of ROC curve to differentiate severe from mild to moderate hepatic fibrosis patients revealed that sUPAR at cut-off > 510 ng/L and AUC of 0.837 had (80%) sensitivity and (90%) specificity. While IL-34 at cut off > 55.3 ng/L and AUC of 0.844 had (85%) sensitivity and (80%) specificity. Conclusions: Increased plasma levels of sUPAR and IL-34 in chronic HCV patients with liver fibrosis and their increase was parallel to the degree of liver

Evaluating the influence of 6 mV and 15 mV photon beams on prostate intensity-modulated radiation therapy plans

Objective We aimed to determine the ef ects of low- and high-energy intensity-modulated radiation therapy （ImRT） photon beams on the target volume planning and on the critical organs in the case of prostate can-cer. methods Thirty plans were generated by using either 6 mV or 15 mV beams separately, and a combination of both 6 and 15 mV beams. Al plans were generated by using suitable planning objectives and dose con-straints, which were identical across the plans, except the beam energy. The plans were analyzed in terms of their target coverage, conformity, and homogeneity, regardless of the beam energy. Results The mean percentage values of V70 Gy for the rectal wal for the plans with 6 mV, 15 mV, and mixed-energy beams were 16.9%, 17.8%, and 16.4%, respectively, while the mean percentage values of V40 Gy were 53.6%, 52.3%, and 50.4%. The mean dose values to the femoral heads for the 6 mV, 15 mV, and mixed-en-ergy plans were 30.1 Gy, 25.5 Gy, and 25.4 Gy, respectively. The mean integral dose for the 6 mV plans was 10% larger than those for the 15 mV and mixed-energy *** These preliminary results suggest that mixed-energy ImRT plans may be advantageous with respect to the dosimetric characteristics of low- and high-energy beams. Although the reduction of dose to the organs at risk may not be clinical y relevant, in this study, ImRT plans using mixed-energy beams exhibited better OAR sparing and overal higher plan quality for deep-seated tumors.

A Theoretical Study of Light Absorption in Self Assembled Quantum Dots

Self assembled quantum dots have shown a great promise as a leading candidate for infrared detection at room temperature. In this paper, a theoretical model of the absorption coefficient of quantum dot devices is presented. Both of bound to bound absorption and bound to continuum absorption are taken into consideration in this model. This model is based on the effective mass theory and the Non Equilibrium Greens Function (NEGF) formalism. NEGF formalism is used to calculate the bound to continuum absorption coefficient. The results of the model have been compared with a published experimental work and a good agreement is obtained. Based on the presented model, the bound to bound absorption coefficient component is compared to the bound to continuum absorption coefficient component. In addition, the effects of the dot dimensions and electron filling on the bound to continuum absorption coefficient are also investigated. In general, increasing the dot filling increases the absorption and decreasing the dots dimensions will increase the absorption and move the absorption peak towards longer wavelengths.
