Solar flare prediction plays an important role in understanding and forecasting space *** main goal of the Helioseismic and magnetic Imager(HmI), one of the instruments on NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, is to study the origin of solar variability and characterize the Sun's magnetic *** provides continuous full-disk observations of the solar vector magnetic field with high cadence data that lead to reliable predictive capability;yet, solar flare prediction effort utilizing these data is still limited. In this paper, we present a machine-learning-as-a-service(mLaa S) framework, called Deep Sun,for predicting solar flares on the web based on HmI's data products. Specifically, we construct training data by utilizing the physical parameters provided by the Space-weather HmI Active Region Patch(SHARP)and categorize solar flares into four classes, namely B, C, m and X, according to the X-ray flare catalogs available at the National Centers for Environmental Information(NCEI). Thus, the solar flare prediction problem at hand is essentially a multi-class(i.e., four-class) classification problem. The Deep Sun system employs several machine learning algorithms to tackle this multi-class prediction problem and provides an application programming interface(API) for remote programming users. To our knowledge, Deep Sun is the first mLaa S tool capable of predicting solar flares through the internet.

multigrid method for the Numerical Solution of the modified Equal Width Wave Equation

Numerical solutions of the modified equal width wave equation are obtained by using the multigrid method and finite difference method. The motion of a single solitary wave, interaction of two solitary waves and development of the maxwellian initial condition into solitary waves are studied using the proposed method. The numerical solutions are compared with the known analytical solutions. Using error norms and conservative properties of mass, momentum and energy, accuracy and efficiency of the mentioned method will be established through comparison with other methods.

modified technique for volumetric brain tumor measurements

Quantitative measurements of tumor response rate in three dimensions (3D) become more re-alistic with the use of advanced technology im-aging during therapy, especially when the tumor morphological changes remain subtle, irregular and difficult to assess by clinical examination. These quantitative measurements depend strongly on the accuracy of the segmentations methods used. Improvements on such methods yield to increase the accuracy of the segmentation process. Recently, the essential modification in the Traditional Region Growing (T-RG) method has been developed and a “modified Region Growing method” (mRGm) has been presented and gives more accurate boundary detection and holes filling after segmentation. In this pa-per, the new automatic calculation of the volu-metric size of brain tumor has been imple-mented based on modified Region Growing method. A comparative study and statistical analysis performed in this work show that the modified method gives more accurate and better performance for 3D volume measurements. The method was tested by 7 fully investigated pa-tients of different tumor type and shape, and better accurate results were reported using mRGm.

Does the presence of a percutaneous renal access influence fluoroscopy time during percutaneous nephrolithotomy?

Objective:The aim of this study was to assess whether the presence of a preformed percutaneous renal access(PCA)had any effects on fluoroscopy time(FT)during percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL).methods:After ethics approval was obtained,medical records of all patients who underwent PCNL between 2009 and 2013 at a tertiary stone referral centre were retrospectively *** with and without pre-formed PCA undergoing PCNL were *** who underwent second-look PCNL and those who had their access inserted by interventional radiology constituted the group with pre-formed ***:A total of 185 PCNLs were *** mean patient age was 55.2±1.0 years with mean body mass index(BmI)of 27.8±0.5 kg/m^2 and male gender of 63.8%.The mean stone size was 618.4±47.0 mm^2 with mean Guy’s grade of 2.3±0.7 and mean *** of 7.6±*** mean operative time was 98.7±2.6 min with mean FT of 113.4±4.5 *** overall stone-free rate was 71.9%with complication rate of 16.2%.When compared with PCNLs without pre-formed PCA,PCNLs with pre-formed PCA were associated with significantly shorter FT(120.6±5.1 vs.77.5±6.7 s;pmated blood loss(EBL)(p=0.01).On multivariate analysis,PCNLs with pre-formed PCA were associated with significantly shorter FT(***=-43.2(95%CI:-66.4 to-20);pmed PCA were associated with significantly lower FT and EBL when compared with PCNLs without pre-formed PCA.

Fabrication of 3D air-core mEmS inductors for very-highfrequency power conversions

We report a fabrication technology for 3D air-core inductors for small footprint and very-high-frequency power *** process is scalable and highly generic for fabricating inductors with a wide range of geometries and core *** demonstrate spiral,solenoid,and toroidal inductors,a toroidal transformer and inductor with advanced geometries that cannot be produced by wire winding *** inductors are embedded in a silicon substrate and consist of through-silicon vias and suspended *** inductors fabricated with 20 and 25 turns and 280-350μm heights on 4-16 mm2 footprints have an inductance from 34.2 to 44.6 nH and a quality factor from 10 to 13 at frequencies ranging from 30 to 72 *** air-core inductors show threefold lower parasitic capacitance and up to a 140% higher-quality factor and a 230% higher-operation frequency than silicon-core inductors.A 33 mHz boost converter mounted with an air-core toroidal inductor achieves an efficiency of 68.2%,which is better than converters mounted with a Si-core inductor(64.1%).Our inductors show good thermal cycling stability,and they are mechanically stable after vibration and 2-m-drop tests.

Background: Polyamines stimulate DNA transcription and m RNA translation for protein synthesis in trophectoderm cells, as well as proliferation and migration of cells; therefore, they are essential for development and survival of conceptuses(embryo/fetus and placenta). The ovine conceptus produces polyamines via classical and non-classical pathways. In the classical pathway, arginine(Arg) is transformed into ornithine, which is then decarboxylated by ornithine decarboxylase(ODC1) to produce putrescine which is the substrate for the production of spermidine and spermine. In the non-classical pathway, Arg is converted to agmatine(Agm) by arginine decarboxylase(ADC), and Agm is converted to putrescine by agmatinase(AGmAT).methods: morpholino antisense oligonucleotides(mAOs) were designed and synthesized to inhibit translational initiation of the m RNAs for ODC1 and ADC, in ovine ***: The morphologies of mAO control, mAO-ODC1, and mAO-ADC conceptuses were normal. Double knockdown of ODC1 and ADC(mAO-ODC1:ADC) resulted in two phenotypes of conceptuses; 33% of conceptuses appeared to be morphological y and functional y normal(phenotype a) and 67% of the conceptuses presented an abnormal morphology and functionality(phenotype b). Furthermore, mAO-ODC1:ADC(a) conceptuses had greater tissue concentrations of Agm,putrescine, and spermidine than mAO control conceptuses, while mAO-ODC1:ADC(b) conceptuses only had greater tissue concentrations of Agm. A Network Coding Based Cloud Storage Scheme

With this paper, we propose a network coding based cloud storage scheme. The storage system is in the form of an m * n data array. The n columns stand for n storage nodes, which are comprised of a part of systematic nodes storing source symbols and a part of nonsystematic nodes storing parity symbols. Every row of the data array is a (n, k) systematic maximum Distance Separable (mDS) code. A source symbol is only involved in the encoding with the unique row;it locates at and is not used by other rows. Such a design significantly decreases the complexity of encoding and decoding. moreover, in case of single node failures, we use interference alignment to further reduce repair bandwidth. Compared to some existing cloud storage schemes, our scheme significantly reduces resource consumption on storage, update bandwidth and repair bandwidth.
