C3-Modules

One of the continuity conditions identified by Utumi on self-injective rings is the C3-condition, where a module M is called a C3-module if whenever A and B are direct summands of M and A A B = 0, then A B is a summand of M. In addition to injective and direct-injective modules, the class of C3-modules includes the semisimple, continuous, indecomposable and regular modules. Indeed, every commutative ring is a C3-ring. In this paper we provide a general and unified treatment of the above mentioned classes of modules in terms of the C3-condition, and establish new characterizations of several well known classes of rings.

Toward an operating speed profile model for rural two-lane roads in Egypt

The geometric design, especially the horizontal and vertical alignments, of rural two-lane highway facilities is considered one of the most important factors affecting the quality of traffic service and safety. A consistent highway geometric design is defined to be one that conforms to the driver＇s expectations. In order to calculate the main measures of design consistency, an accurate operating speed profile model for road alignment is needed. Studies have shown that operating speed models are country dependent due to varying demographics, driver attitudes, habits, etc. This paper develops a speed profile model for two-lane rural roads in Egypt. This includes the development of operating speed models for horizontal curves and tangents, as well as the study of the characteristics and relationships between acceleration and deceleration rates before and after horizontal curves. The study uses a desert rural two-lane, two-way road sections that connect the city of Sohag with the city of Hurghada, in Upper Egypt. All geometric characteristics were obtained from high- way authority. Speed data regarding individual drivers traveling on selected two-lane rural road sections were sampled using an on-board GPS system. The study confirms the finding in previous research that curvature is the most important factor in determining the speed on horizontal curves. Moreover, tangent length is the most important factor in determining operating speeds at tangents. The acceleration and deceleration characteristics were derived to gain an understanding of the behavior of individual vehicles traveling through curves of varying radii and lengths as well as preceding tangent length. Several operating speed models were developed for tangents and curves as well as for acceleration and deceleration rates. Incredibly effective, these models can be used for design consistency evaluations.

This work investigates the performance of combined hybrid high concentrated photovoltaic/thermal collector (HCPV/T) in Kuwait harsh climate. The proposed system consists of triple junction solar cells (InGaP/InGaAs/Ge) attached to heat source to discharge thermal energy to cooling media. Published HCPV/T models do not consider the effect of shunt resistance which greatly affects the system performance. So, a single diode model employing five parameters including the effect of shunt resistance is adapted to analyze the proposed system. To analyze the thermal performance of the proposed system, a two-dimensional thermal model based on the technique of finite difference is introduced to determine the efficiency of the hybrid HCPV/T system. The present developed subroutines are integrated with other involved codes in TRNSYS software to calculate HCPV/T system efficiency. Electrical and thermal as well as the whole system efficiency at different weather circumstances are evaluated and assessed. The effect of different weather conditions, cell temperature, concentration ratio and the temperatures of the coolant fluid on system performance are studied. Current results indicate that the model of single diode is a reliable one rather than using the two-diode complex model. Compared to measurements provided by high concentrated PV manufacturer, the current results revealed a total root mean square error of approximately 1.94%. Present predictions show that PV cell temperature has logarithmic increase with the rise in concentration ratio but with low values till concentration ratio of 400 suns after that the rise is faster at higher concentration values up to 1500 suns. Results also revealed that hybrid HCPV/T system works effectively specially in severe hot climate where thermal efficiency increases with high surrounding temperature for higher values of concentration ratio. Insecticides are toxic chemicals used at homes for controlling insects of public health importance and controlling agricultural pests at home gardens. Their application may result in accidental poisoning. Four accidental insecticide-poisoning children coupled with a scorpion bitten child were brought to the main hospital in southern Gaza for medical treatment. Primary investigation showed severe breath shortness, low heartbeat, and low blood pressure (hypotension). These symptoms are indications of potential cardiotoxicity among children. Electrocardiograms were measured and indicated various heart complications between cases. Complete blood count (CBC) determination showed the highest white blood cells (WBC) in the scorpion-bitted child suggesting the development of immune defense system. Blood electrolyte (Na+, K+, Ca2+) concentrations indicated disturbances due to poisoning. An interesting outcome of the study is the dramatic alteration in blood glucose concentration. Additionally, activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) indicated normal activity in poisoning case 1, moderate inhibition in poisoning case 2 and case 3, normal activity in poisoning case 4 and severe inhibition in poisoning case 5. The levels of Aminotransferase (ALT) and Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) were within the acceptable range whereas the level of Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) was above the acceptable reference range suggesting potential Hepato-toxicity. Scorpion bitten child did not receive atropine whereas two poisoned cases were successfully cured by atropine injection. Additionally, alternative safe medical management may be used for cardiotoxicity using vitamin C, vitamin E, quercetin, and curcumin. These vitamins may be recommended as alternative medical treatments for cardiotoxicity.

This study examines the correlation between solar UVB and different weather parameters in Kuwait climate. To achieve that purpose, an experimental outdoor facility is designed and set up at the College of Technological Studies, Kuwait for regular monitoring of solar global radiation, UVB radiation and ambient temperature in Kuwait from beginning of January 1st 2014 until the end of December 2019. Outcomes reveal that the change of solar UVB as well as global radiation through the whole day inaugurate the same behavior for the recorded data in clear day times. Statistical analysis is carried out to obtain a correlation linking UVB radiation and both ambient temperature and global solar radiation. Regression analysis of the current work shows that there is a solid correlation among UVB radiation and both ambient temperature and global solar radiation, especially for intermediate to small global solar radiation ranges. In addition, UV index is evaluated for various months at all day times. It is important to record that UV index with the maximum values is attained in May-August months through midday period. Also, UV index values do not surpass the accepted extreme value which is higher than 9 during any time of the study period.

The objective of the presented study is to perform a vibration analysis and investigate the stability of a viscoelastic-fluid conveying pipe with an intermediate *** mathematical model is elaborated in the framework of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory in combination with the Kelvin-Voight viscoelastic *** resulting differential equation of motion and the related boundary conditions and compatibility conditions in the mid-span support are solved analytically using a power series *** results show that an intermediate support located atξ_(s)=0.1 andξ_(s)=0.5 increases the critical velocity up to 35%and 50.15%,***,the non-dimensional critical velocity for an intermediate support atξ_(s)=0.1 is 4.83.

The aim of this paper is to study the existence of integrable solutions of a nonlinear functional integral equation in the space of Lebesgue integrable functions on unbounded interval, L1(R+). As an application we deduce the existence of solution of an initial value problem of fractional order that be studied only on a bounded interval. The main tools used are Schauder fixed point theorem, measure of weak noncompactness, superposition operator and fractional calculus.

The purpose of the study was designed to clarify the modern trends of physical therapy in treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunctions in Parkinsonian patients, which in this respect included the degree of pain, the muscles power of both masseter and pterygoid, the range of TMJ motion, the angle of mouth opening and their effects on electromyography study in both sexes. Subjects: Thirty males and females were the same degree of disabilities according to modified Hoehn and Yahr scales (grade 3) of Parkinsonian patients, and their age ranged from 50 - 77 years old and their weight ranged from 60 - 88 kg. They were randomly divided into two equal groups (G1 and G2). G1 (control) consisted of 15 patients of both sexes and was treated by exercises therapy program and G2 (experimental) consisted of 15 Parkinsonian patients of both sexes and was treated by the same exercises therapy program and low level pulsed electromagnetic therapy. Vital signs such as blood pressure, body temperature, pulse rate and respiratory rate were measured before and after the treatment sessions. Assessments: Visual analogue scale was used to measure degree of pain. Tensiometer was used to measure the muscle power of masseter and pterygoid, the digital goniometer was used to investigate the range of TMJ movement. Moreover, standard electromyography test (EMG) was used to measure the compound muscle action potentials. Statistically the results for all groups were analyzed by t-test to compare the differences between the two groups. The statistical package of social sciences (SPSS, version 10) was used for data processing using the P-value 0.05 as a level of significance. Results showed that there were significant improvements in all variables in G2 only. However, there was a little improvement but not significant in both G1. Therefore, it could be concluded that the use of low level pulsed electro-magnetic therapy combined with exercises program was the good method to control pain of TMJ, in

The Numerical Solution of the MRLW Equation Using the Multigrid Method

In this paper, we obtained the numerical solutions of the modified regularized long-wave (MRLW) equation, by using the multigrid method and finite difference method. The solitary wave motion, interaction of two and three solitary waves, and development of the Maxwellian initial condition into solitary waves are studied using the proposed method. The numerical solutions are compared with the known analytical solutions. Usingerror norms and conservative properties of mass, momentum and energy, accuracy and efficiency of the mentioned method will be established through comparison with other techniques.
