Impact of Ursodeoxycholic Acid on Gall Stone Formation Post Bariatric Surgery

Introduction: Bariatric surgery is identified as highly effective therapy for obesity and help to loss wight that is become important public health priority because it increases the risk of condition including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and several types of cancer whether by accomplishing mini-gastric bypass, Gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) and sleeve gastrectomy [1] rapid weight loss increased incidence risk of gall stone formation [2]. Ursodeoxycholic acid is a bile acid which affect a reduction in cholesterol in biliary fluid primary by dispersing the cholesterol and forming a liquid-crystal phase [2], it’s can play a significant role in preventing of gall stone formation. Objective: Study potential effect of Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) on gall stone formation after bariatric surgery. Methods: This study Cross-sectional Trials, review of all patient underwent bariatric surgery November 2021-Jun 2022, Taif Military Hospital in the department of surgery, the sample of study will be around 143 participants or more, data collection all patient underwent bariatric surgery. Results: A Total of 160 patients underwent bariatric surgery in Taif Armed Forces Hospitals from 2015 to 2021. Of these, 53 were male (33.1%) and 107 were female (66.9%). only 33 patients (20.6%) received Ursodeoxycholic acid, and 127 patients (79.4%) weren’t proscribed for them. However, 40 patients (25%) develop gall stone and underwent cholecystectomy, three of them were on Ursodeoxycholic acid (9%) and 37 patients weren’t on Ursodeoxycholic acid (29%). which shows that Ursodeoxycholic acid remarkable reduce the risk of gall stone formation post wight reduction surgery. Conclusion: In conclusion, bariatric procedures come with the risk of leading to the formation of gallstones. This is especially in the stage when a patient experiences rapid loss of weight. 巴基斯坦查盖火山岩浆岩带属于特提斯成矿域的重要组成部分之一,是巴基斯坦境内最重要的斑岩型铜矿带,但目前其相关的遥感研究还较少,制约了对该成矿带的找矿潜力分析。笔者等以山达克矿床及其周边为研究区,对先进星载热辐射与反射辐射计(Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer, ASTER)数据进行RBD (Relative absorption band depth)比值假彩色合成、主成分分析、光谱角制图等处理,获得蚀变遥感异常信息分布特征,通过对蚀变特征和主要控矿要素进行遥感研究,建立了山达克矿床遥感找矿模型并开展成矿预测,为该成矿带矿产勘查提供借鉴。根据建立的遥感找矿模型,圈定了找矿预测靶区10处。对矿区东矿体和矿区北部的2个靶区进行野外验证,证实了提取结果与实际地质事实吻合较好,对矿区岩石样品进行光谱实测,表明样品实测光谱曲线与标准矿物光谱曲线的吸收特征位置高度相似,证实了研究区绢云母化、青磐岩化等蚀变较强且分布较广。结果表明本次研究提取的矿化蚀变结果可信度较高,可为后续找矿勘查工作提供参考。

Hepatitis elimination by 2030: Progress and challenges

Globally, over 300 million people are living with viral hepatitis with approximately 1.3 million deaths per year. In 2016, World Health Assembly adopted the Global Health Sector Strategy on viral hepatitis to eliminate hepatitis by 2030. Different World Health Organization member countries are working on hepatitis control strategies to achieve hepatitis elimination. So far, only 12 countries are on track to achieve hepatitis elimination targets. The aim of the study was to give an update about the progress and challenges to achieving hepatitis elimination by 2030. According to the latest data, 87% of infants had received the three doses of hepatitis B virus(HBV) vaccination in the first year of their life and 46% of infants had received a timely birth dose of HBV vaccination. There is a strong need to improve blood and injection safety. Rates of hepatitis B and C diagnosis are very low and only 11% of hepatitis B and C cases are diagnosed. There is a dire need to speed up hepatitis diagnosis and find the missing millions of people living with viral hepatitis. Up to 2016, only 3 million hepatitis C cases have been treated. Pricing of hepatitis C virus drugs is also reduced in many countries. The major hurdle to achieve hepatitis elimination is lack of finances to support hepatitis programs. None of the major global donors are committed to invest in the fight against hepatitis. It will be very difficult for the low and middle-income countries to fund their hepatitis control program. Hepatitis elimination needs strong financial and political commitment, support from civil societies, and support from pharmaceutical and medical companies around the globe.

Simulation of snowmelt-runoff under climate change scenarios in a data-scarce mountain environment

Pakistan is an agriculture-based economy and major proportion of irrigation water for its cultivated lands is abstracted from the Upper Indus Basin(UIB).UIB water supplies are mostly contributed from the high-altitude snow and glacier fields situated in the Hindukush–Karakoram–Himalayan *** change in the flows of these river catchments due to climate variability may result in the form of catastrophic events like floods and droughts and hence will adversely affect the economy of *** study aims to simulate snowmelt runoff in a mountainous sub-catchment(Shyok River basin)of the UIB under climate change *** Runoff Model(SRM)coupled with remotely sensed snow cover product(MOD10A2)is used to simulate the snowmelt runoff under current and future climate scenarios in the study *** results indicate that(a)SRM has efficiently simulated the flow in Shyok River with average Nash–Sutcliff coefficient value(R2)of 0.8(0.63–0.93)for all six years(2000–2006)of basin-wide and zone-wise simulations,(b)an increase of 10%(by 2050)and 20%(by 2075)in SCA will result in a flow rise of∼11%and∼20%,respectively,and(c)an increase of 1℃(by 2025),2℃(by 2050),3℃(by 2075)and 4℃(by 2100)in mean temperature will result in a flow rise of∼26%,∼54%,∼81%and∼118%,*** study suggests that SRM equipped with remotely sensed snow cover data is an effective tool to estimate snowmelt runoff in high mountain data-scarce environments.

Aurivillius Na_(0.5)Bi_(4.5)Ti_(4)O_(15) and Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12)compounds were synthesized via solid-state reaction technique.X-ray powder diffraction study confirmed monophasic four-layered Na_(0.5)Bi_(4.5)Ti_(4)O_(15) and three-layered Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12) *** relaxation and conduction behaviors of Na-contained Na_(0.5)Bi_(4.5)Ti_(4)O_(15)ceramics were thoroughly investigated in a large scale of temperature of 30-650℃ and frequency of 40 Hz^(-1) *** addition,comparative studies of both the compounds were *** and modulus analyses revealed a single relaxation behavior in Na_(0.5)Bi_(4.5)Ti_(4)O_(15) compound which was originated from the grain’s interior with grain resistance of 2.189×10^(5)Ω and capacitance of 4.268×10^(-10) F at 570℃.While in Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12) ceramic the relaxation was due to the contributions of grain and grain *** current(AC)conductivity analysis revealed the presence of two different conduction regions in both the *** energies for the two different conduction mechanisms,i.e.,in low-temperature region and in high-temperature region were calculated to be~0.23 and~1.27 eV at 1 kHz for Na_(0.5)Bi_(4.5)Ti_(4)O_(15) compound and~0.43 eV and~0.97 eV at 1 kHz for Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12) compound,*** present study of dielectric relaxation and conduction behaviors would be helpful for further investigations of Na_(0.5)Bi_(4.5)Ti_(4)O_(15)-related Aurivillius compounds.

Impact of smoking on nasal mucociliary clearance time in Kano metropolis,Nigeria

Background:Mucociliary clearance is an important defense mechanism in human upper and lower respiratory *** of this process by certain conditions such as cigarette smoking can predispose to chronic infection and neoplasm of the nose and paranasal ***:This was a cross-sectional study conducted in Kano metropolis,*** adults were enrolled,a saccharine test was conducted,and the nasal mucociliary clearance time was *** of the result was carried out using Statistical Product and Service Solutions version ***:There were 225 participants categorized into 75 active smokers(33.3%),74 passive smokers(32.9%),and 76 nonsmokers(33.8%,living in a smoking-free zone).The age range of the participants was between 18 and 50 years,with a mean age of(31.2±5.6)*** participants were *** were 139(61.8%)of Hausa-Fulani ethnic group,24(10.7%)Yoruba,18(8.0%)Igbo,and 44(19.5%)other ethnic *** in this study showed that the average mucociliary clearance time among active smokers was prolonged([15.25±6.20]min)compared to passive([11.41±4.25]min)and nonsmokers([9.17±2.76]min)respectively,with a statistical significance(F=33.59,P<0.001).Binary logistic regression revealed that the number of cigarettes smoked per day was an independent predictor of prolonged mucociliary clearance time(P=0.008,odds ratio=0.44,95%confidence interval=0.24–0.80).Conclusion:Active cigarette smoking is associated with prolonged nasal mucociliary clearance *** number of cigarette sticks smoked per day was found to be an independent predictor of prolonged mucociliary clearance time.

Smart healthcare integrates an advanced wave of information technology using smart devices to collect health-related medical science *** data usually exist in unstructured,noisy,incomplete,and heterogeneous *** these limitations remains an open challenge in deep learning to classify health *** this paper,a long short-term memory(LSTM)based health condition prediction framework is proposed to rectify imbalanced and noisy data and transform it into a useful form to predict accurate health *** imbalanced and scarce data is normalized through coding to gain consistency for accurate results using synthetic minority oversampling *** proposed model is optimized and ne-tuned in an end to end manner to select ideal parameters using tree parzen estimator to build a probabilistic *** patient’s medication is pigeonholed to plot the diabetic condition’s risk factor through an algorithm to classify blood glucose metrics using a modern surveillance error grid *** proposed model can efciently train,validate,and test noisy data by obtaining consistent results around 90%over the state of the art machine and deep learning techniques and overcoming the insufciency in training data through transfer *** overall results of the proposed model are further tested with secondary datasets to verify model sustainability.

考虑到化石燃料的环境污染和成本波动等问题,发展可再生能源技术是未来可持续能源供应的必要和必然。与太阳能和风能相比,地热能在一天中的所有时间都是可利用的。这种可再生能源适用于供暖、制冷、淡水和电力的清洁供应。地热能除了作为主要能源直接用于发电外,还可以作为辅助热源用于预热,减少温室气体排放,节约燃料。在这些系统中,利用地热热源的热量进行蒸汽预热。此外,地热能可用于其他能源系统,如制氢装置,用于预热电解过程中消耗的水。针对利用地热能进行预热的优势,综述了地热能预热系统的应用研究。通过这一研究可以看出,利用地热能进行预热在节约燃料和提高性能方面具有很大的潜力。上述系统的性能取决于系统的配置、钻孔规格和地热源温度等因素。通过实施优化,可以进一步改进这些系统。

Comparison of Mechanical Properties of Acid and UV Ozone Treated Nanodiamond Epoxy Nanocomposites

Nanodiamond（ND） powder was successfully activated by wet chemical method and by exposure of UV/O3 in a chamber followed by mixing in triethylenetetramine（TETA） *** reinforcement role of activated ND in the mechanical properties of epoxy matrix was *** treatments,*** and UV/O3 provide ND surface with chemical functionalities for adhesion with epoxy *** transform infrared spectroscopy was utilized to confirm the attachment of surface groups to the ND *** low content of acid and UV/O3 activated ND was dispersed ultrasonically in the epoxy matrix separately to make *** mechanical properties of the nanocomposites were investigated under three point *** strong interactions among activated ND particles and the epoxy resin provide efficient load transfer interfaces,which enhances the mechanical properties of the *** was found that the flexural strength,modulus,and toughness of 0.1 wt%ND loaded nanocomposites have been enhanced up to 85%,57%,and 39%,respectively for UV/O3 treated ND *** is also found that the optimum ND concentration to achieve maximum reinforcement is 0.1 wt%while higher concentrations lead to decrease in mechanical *** significant improvement of the mechanical properties of the ND/epoxy nanocomposites is attributed to the good dispersion of the functionalized ND in epoxy matrix.
