A Lightweight Intrusion Detection System Using Convolutional Neural Network and Long Short-Term Memory in Fog Computing

The Internet of Things (IoT) links various devices to digital services and significantly improves the quality of our lives. However, as IoT connectivity is growing rapidly, so do the risks of network vulnerabilities and threats. Many interesting Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) are presented based on machine learning (ML) techniques to overcome this problem. Given the resource limitations of fog computing environments, a lightweight IDS is essential. This paper introduces a hybrid deep learning (DL) method that combines convolutional neural networks (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) to build an energy-aware, anomaly-based IDS. We test this system on a recent dataset, focusing on reducing overhead while maintaining high accuracy and a low false alarm rate. We compare CICIoT2023, KDD-99 and NSL-KDD datasets to evaluate the performance of the proposed IDS model based on key metrics, including latency, energy consumption, false alarm rate and detection rate metrics. Our findings show an accuracy rate over 92% and a false alarm rate below 0.38%. These results demonstrate that our system provides strong security without excessive resource use. The practicality of deploying IDS with limited resources is demonstrated by the successful implementation of IDS functionality on a Raspberry Pi acting as a Fog node. The proposed lightweight model, with a maximum power consumption of 6.12 W, demonstrates its potential to operate effectively on energy-limited devices such as low-power fog nodes or edge devices. We prioritize energy efficiency while maintaining high accuracy, distinguishing our scheme from existing approaches. Extensive experiments demonstrate a significant reduction in false positives, ensuring accurate identification of genuine security threats while minimizing unnecessary alerts. Research on Interpolation Method for Missing Electricity Consumption Data

Missing value is one of the main factors that cause dirty *** high-quality data,there will be no reliable analysis results and precise ***,the data warehouse needs to integrate high-quality data *** the power system,the electricity consumption data of some large users cannot be normally collected resulting in missing data,which affects the calculation of power supply and eventually leads to a large error in the daily power line loss *** the problem of missing electricity consumption data,this study proposes a group method of data handling(GMDH)based data interpolation method in distribution power networks and applies it in the analysis of actually collected electricity ***,the dependent and independent variables are defined from the original data,and the upper and lower limits of missing values are determined according to prior knowledge or existing data *** missing data are randomly interpolated within the upper and lower ***,the GMDH network is established to obtain the optimal complexity model,which is used to predict the missing data to replace the last imputed electricity consumption *** last,this process is implemented iteratively until the missing values do not *** a relatively small noise level(α=0.25),the proposed approach achieves a maximum error of no more than 0.605%.Experimental findings demonstrate the efficacy and feasibility of the proposed approach,which realizes the transformation from incomplete data to complete ***,this proposed data interpolation approach provides a strong basis for the electricity theft diagnosis and metering fault analysis of electricity enterprises.

Surveying organic matter， thermal maturity level， and paleo-environmental conditions by considering biomarker and stable carbon isotopic analysis

Biomarker and stable carbon isotope analyses are presented for the Garau formation of the Cretaceous age， an important source rock in western Iran， to reveal its potential as an oil-prone source rock. The C28/C29sterane ratio value range (0.72 to 0.83) of bitumen samples from the formation suggests that they were likely formed during phytoplankton blooms. Sterane， hopane， and isoprenoid/n-alkane ratios indicate that the formation’s organic matter predominantly consists of algae， and bacteria， accompanied by some reworked material derived from higher plants. Due to the predominance of anoxic conditions and the actions of sulfate-reducing bacteria， the bitumen present is enriched with sulfur compounds. The percentages of saturates， aromatics， and nitrogen-sulfur-oxygen (NSO) fractions in the bitumen samples classify them as naphthenic oils. Isotope analysis reveals that biodegradation and water-washing have reduced the concentrations of some volatile saturates and low molecular weight aromatics in the bitumen samples. These actions have resulted in distinctive δ13C values for the formation’s kerogen and bitumen fractions. The formation’s organic matter has been subjected to high-temperature thermal regimes and has entered the oil-generation window at the sampled localities， with vitrinite reflectance (%RC) varying between 0.7% and 0.75%.

Numerical evaluation of enhanced green infrastructures for mitigating urban heat in a desert urban setting

The cities of desert climates are anticipated to recognize a synergy of urban heat island(UHI)and severe heat waves during *** improve the urban thermal environment,the present study aims quantitatively explore a strategically designed network of vegetation patches called green infrastructure(GI)in subtropical desert cities such as *** achieve a more comfortable temperature environment,we built and simulated four GI situations with higher GI fractions,GI25,GI50,GI75,and *** a mesoscale urban model,the mosaic approach is utilized to test potential thermal improvement and urban climate impact,and a portion of each urban grid cell in the model domain is altered with various species of urban vegetation patches by 25%,50%,75%,and 100%.The daily peak reduction in ambient temperature at 17:00LT is similar to 0.0168℃ per unit of GI increase when compared to the untreated scenario;however,the maximum anticipated daytime summer temperature decline for GI25,GI50,GI75,and GI100 is 0.6℃,1.1℃,1.4℃,and 1.7℃,*** associated reduction in nighttime ambient temperature per unit increase in the GI is 0.0432℃,with a maximum temperature drop of around 2.4℃ for the GI100 *** GI reduces the height of the planetary boundary layer(PBL)by up to 468 m,which might lead to greater pollution *** GI-based cooling has a significant influence on delayed sea breeze and humidity,it may raise the risk of heat discomfort in the indoor building *** study adds to our understanding of the potential for GI mitigation as well as the seasonal impact of developing GIs on the desert urban boundary layer.

Use fuzzy interface systems to optimize land suitability evaluation for surface and trickle irrigation

In this study fuzzy logic system was used for optimization parametric evaluation system in surface and trickle *** study was performed on a surface area of 5175 ha in fathali region located in Ardabil province of *** was indicated that for trickle and surface irrigation respectively an area of about 2941.35 ha(56.77%)and 159.81 ha(3%)of the lands is“highly suitable”and an area of about 246.43 ha(4.7%)and 312.69 ha(6%)is“moderately suitable”.About 797.1 ha(15.4%)and 2744.17 ha(53.02%)were respectively“marginally suitable”for trickle and surface irrigations.“Currently not suitable”suitability included about 737.58 ha(14.2%)and 1746.05 ha(33.7%)and“Permanently not suitable”suitability matched 458.54 ha(8.86%)and 212.28 ha(4.1%)in the zone under *** to the results,there is a major difference between the“highly suitable”lands obtained through the two methods and the area of“highly suitable”lands in the trickle method is about 18 times of the area of“highly suitable”obtained through the surface irrigation *** a result,considering the gradual changes of soil parameters,fuzzy evaluation leads to more accuracy compared to the parametric non fuzzy *** and large,it can be said that fuzzy method,shows higher qualities about the suitability of lands for trickle irrigation.

Spatial correlation between groundwater seepage faces and fault zone in high bedrock channel: method and application

The groundwater may recharge the surface water bodies through seepage faces and *** spatial correlation between the fault zones and the groundwater seepage faces results in deep understanding of the hydrogeologic regime,especially where there is no monitoring *** these recharging zones by conventional methods is a challenging task;particularly in areas where(1)there is no hydrogeologic monitoring boreholes or reliable data,(2)private pumps withdraw the stream,and(3)intense canopy limits the use of drones and satellite *** paper aims to study the relationship between the fault zones and occurrence of the groundwater seepage faces by using the high resolution handheld thermal imaging cameras as a tool to locate the seepage faces along a small river in the Damavand County,north of *** correlation between the structural geology features and occurrence of the groundwater seepage faces revealed that the stream in the study area is being recharged by the groundwater at extensive fault ***,this study suggests that the handheld thermal imaging cameras are a useful robust tools to evaluate the surface-groundwater ***,it is essential to use the field structural geologic and hydrogeologic observations to interpret the thermal images.
