Effect of lens surgery on health-related quality of life in preschool children with congenital ectopia lentis

AIM:To evaluate the effect of lens surgery on health-related quality of life(HRQoL)of preschool children with congenital ectopia lentis(CEL).METHODS:A prospective self-controlled study was conducted in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center.Children aged from 5 to 7y whom were diagnosed with CEL and underwent phacoemulsification with scleral-fixated posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation and their parents were enrolled in this study.All of them completed the child and proxy(parental)PedsQL™4.0 before and after the surgery.Their preoperative scores were compared to their postoperative ones.Subgroup analyses were performed based on gender and preoperative bilateral presenting visual acuity of the children.RESULTS:Thirty-two children with CEL successfully underwent surgery without any complications,among whom 8 had monocular surgery and 24 had binocular surgery.Preoperative and postoperative questionnaires were completed by 32 child-parent pairs.Surgical intervention could significantly improve the vision of affected children(P<0.001).The medians of physical,psychosocial and total health scores self-reported by the children were 68.75(62.50,81.25),65.00(60.00,80.00)and 67.39(60.87,78.26)preoperatively and were 93.75(87.50,100.00),90.00(83.33,96.67)and 89.13(85.32,95.65)postoperatively.The preoperative scores of the affected children were significantly lower in all scales than age-matched healthy children(P<0.001).All the postoperative scores were significantly higher than the preoperative scores in affected children and their parents(P<0.001).In the physical functioning evaluation,the preoperative score reported by parents of girls was higher than parents of boys(P=0.041),and the postoperative score of girls was higher than that of boys(P=0.036).CONCLUSION:CEL is associated with significantly worse quality of life in preschool children.Surgical intervention can significantly improve the HRQoL in affected children from both personal and family perspective.

Anti-OX40 Antibody Combined with HBc VLPs Delays Tumor Growth in a Mouse Colon Cancer Model

Objective Combination immunotherapy strategies targeting OX40,a co-stimulatory molecule that can enhance antitumor immunity by modulating the proliferation,differentiation,and effector function of tumor-infiltrating T cells,have attracted much attention for their excellent therapeutic effects.In this study,we aimed to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of combined anti-OX40 and hepatitis B core viruslike particles(HBc VLPs)therapy using a mouse colon cancer model.Methods Humanized B-h OX40 mice were injected subcutaneously with MC38 colon tumor cells and treated with HBc VLPs+anti-h OX40 antibody.Tumor growth was monitored.Flow cytometric analysis was performed to evaluate the populations of T cell subsets in the tumors.Results The combination of anti-OX40 with HBc VLPs resulted in a significant delay in tumor growth,suggesting that a potent antitumor immunity was induced by the combination therapy.Further studies revealed that HBc VLPs+anti-OX40 treatment induced a significant increase in effector T cells(Teffs)and a significant decrease in regulatory T cells(Tregs)in the tumor microenvironment(TME),which accounted for the synergistic antitumor effect of anti-OX40 in combination with HBc VLPs.Conclusion Combination therapy of anti-h OX40 and HBc VLPs provides synergistic antitumor activity in colon cancer-bearing mice,which may represent a potential design strategy for cancer immunotherapy.

As a material with good biocompatibility,hydroxyapatite（HAP） can have optical properties after doping with various rare earth ions.As a biocompatible fluorescent material,doped HAP could have broad applications in biological probes,drug delivery,optoelectronic materials,fluorescence anti-counterfeiting,and other aspects.In this paper,we put forward the preparation of HAP doped with terbium（Ⅲ） ions(Tb3+) by hydrothermal co-precipitation.By controlling the Tb3+doping content in reaction and the reaction time,the changes in HAP's structure,morphology,and luminescence properties under different conditions were studied.When the doping amount of Tb3+reached an optimal value,the dipole-quadrupole would occur and the concentration would be quenched.The control experiment showed that the optimal Tb3+content was 7.5 × 10-5mol,which showed the best fluorescence performance.HAP,a non-luminous material,was rarely used in the field of fluorescent anti-counterfeiting and photoelectric devices.We proposed to prepare a luminescent aramid/polyphenylene sulfide（ACFs/PPS） fiber paper and a new light-emitting diode（LED） using the Tb-doped HAP phosphor.The composite sample exhibited an excellent stability and fluorescence performance,which also demonstrated a possibility of HAP applications in anticounterfeiting and photoelectric.The introduction of Tb3+dopant HAP was done to give HAP optical properties and broaden the application range of HAP.

Face anti-spoofing based on multi-modal and multi-scale features fusion

Face anti-spoofing is used to assist face recognition system to judge whether the detected face is real face or fake face. In the traditional face anti-spoofing methods, features extracted by hand are used to describe the difference between living face and fraudulent face. But these handmade features do not apply to different variations in an unconstrained environment. The convolutional neural network(CNN) for face deceptions achieves considerable results. However, most existing neural network-based methods simply use neural networks to extract single-scale features from single-modal data, while ignoring multi-scale and multi-modal information. To address this problem, a novel face anti-spoofing method based on multi-modal and multi-scale features fusion(MMFF) is proposed. Specifically, first residual network(Resnet)-34 is adopted to extract features of different scales from each modality, then these features of different scales are fused by feature pyramid network(FPN), finally squeeze-and-excitation fusion(SEF) module and self-attention network(SAN) are combined to fuse features from different modalities for classification. Experiments on the CASIA-SURF dataset show that the new method based on MMFF achieves better performance compared with most existing methods.

VGLUT3 neurons in median raphe control the efficacy of spatial memory retrieval via ETV4 regulation of VGLUT3 transcription

The raphe nucleus is critical for feeding, rewarding and memory. However, how the heterogenous raphe neurons are molecularly and structurally organized to engage their divergent functions remains unknown. Here, we genetically target a subset of neurons expressing VGLUT3. VGLUT3 neurons control the efficacy of spatial memory retrieval by synapsing directly with parvalbumin-expressing GABA interneurons(PGIs) in the dentate gyrus. In a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease(AD mice),VGLUT3→PGIs synaptic transmission is impaired by ETV4 inhibition of VGLUT3 transcription. ETV4 binds to a promoter region of VGLUT3 and activates VGLUT3 transcription in VGLUT3 neurons. Strengthening VGLUT3→PGIs synaptic transmission by ETV4 activation of VGLUT3 transcription upscales the efficacy of spatial memory retrieval in AD mice. This study reports a novel circuit and molecular mechanism underlying the efficacy of spatial memory retrieval via ETV4 inhibition of VGLUT3 transcription and hence provides a promising target for therapeutic intervention of the disease progression.

航空发动机转子部件众多,多部件高维复杂系统计算量大,导致动力学分析困难、计算时间长,进而影响转子结构设计和动力学验证的效率。基于部件模态综合方法,提出一种针对多部件高维复杂系统降维计算的多级模态减缩策略。对每个单独的子结构利用固定界面模态减缩,并行减缩各子结构的内部自由度,同时完整保留子结构间的耦合关系。通过子结构组合定义新一级的子结构,应用多级模态减缩策略提升降维减缩效果,结合多重模态减缩方法,构建界面分支模态,可显著降低转子有限元模型的维数,同时保留关键子结构的动力学特征和系统整体关键动力学特性。此计算策略被用于某弹用发动机转子系统低维减缩模型的建立,利用减缩模型提升了转子动力学分析的效率,加速轴承刚度参数的优化设计。研究结果表明,与ANSYS计算相比,转子动力学分析所需时间降低了99.5%,精度误差不超过0.1%,该计算策略可用于多部件高维复杂系统的快速分析。

Successful conversion of advanced gastric cancer treated by immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy: A case report

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors,for patients with advanced gastric cancer,the traditional treatment is mainly chemotherapy or combined targeted therapy;however,these have not achieved ideal efficacy.However,with the continuous deepening of research on molecular targeted drugs and immunosuppressants,the treatment of advanced gastric cancer patients has made new progress,and some new technologies have also been continuously emerged and applied,which brings hope for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer.Recently,several multicenter randomized controlled phase III studies on immunotherapy for advanced gastric cancer yielded encouraging results,demonstrating its superior efficacy in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer.However,prospective data to support the acceptance of surgery and the R0 removal rate following conversion therapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors are lacking.In this study,a 58-year-old woman with advanced gastric cancer and positive PD-L1 expression,negative HER-2 expression,and microsatellite stable status received immunochemotherapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine to achieve R0 resection and satisfactory efficacy.

以粉煤灰(FA)为原料经水热反应合成了P型沸石(Z-P).采用X射线荧光光谱仪、X射线衍射仪、场发射环境扫描电子显微镜、比表面孔径分析仪、傅里叶变换红外光谱仪和X射线光电子能谱对Z-P进行表征,并研究了其对Cu^(2+)和Cd^(2+)的吸附性能.... 详细信息

以粉煤灰(FA)为原料经水热反应合成了P型沸石(Z-P).采用X射线荧光光谱仪、X射线衍射仪、场发射环境扫描电子显微镜、比表面孔径分析仪、傅里叶变换红外光谱仪和X射线光电子能谱对Z-P进行表征,并研究了其对Cu^(2+)和Cd^(2+)的吸附性能.结果表明,Z-P的BET比表面积和孔隙体积分别为38.46m^(2)/g和0.2180cm^(3)/g,均高于FA的1.273m^(2)/g和0.0120cm^(3)/g.FA、Z-P对Cu^(2+)和Cd^(2+)的吸附更符合拟二级动力学模型和Langmuir等温线模型.Z-P对Cu^(2+)和Cd^(2+)的最大吸附量分别为157.48,131.57mg/g,远高于于FA的30.88,25.47mg/g.Z-P对Cd^(2+)的循环再生吸附效果好,但对Cu^(2+)的循环再生吸附效果较差.离子强度对Z-P吸附Cu^(2+)和Cd^(2+)分别起促进和抑制作用.表明Z-P可以作为有效且廉价的Cu^(2+)、Cd^(2+)吸附剂,为FA的资源化利用和含Cu^(2+)、Cd^(2+)重金属离子废水吸附剂的开发提供了一种方法.
