The deep-sea clam Calyptogena marissinica is widely distributed in the Haima cold seep ecosystem on the northwes-tern slope of the South China Sea with low ph values,low temperature and high *** information is available on the biomineralization of this *** this research,we generated a comprehensive transcript dataset of ***’s mantle tissue,and a total of 19821 unigenes were *** shell matrix proteins(SMP)-related genes were *** qPCR results showed that four out of six prismatic matrix genes(MSP2,MSP5,prisilkin-39,and shematrin),four out of the six nacreous matrix genes(perlucin,pif,pif97,and papilin),and two extrapallial fluid proteins(SPARC and calmodulin)were significantly expressed in the *** the nacreous and the prismatic layers are chrysanthemum-shaped,which are stacked on the top of each other to form a laminated nacreous *** alignment and phylogenetic analysis of MSP-5,Prisilkin-39,Perlucin,and Pif homologues showed that some amino acids of *** that differed from those detected in other molluscs may cause the different shape of the nacreous and prismatic layers,but do not lead to a change in the species’evolutionary *** results indicated the conservation of the functions of SMP-related genes in ***,and the specific shape of the prismatic and nacreous layers of this deep-sea mollusc,which will contribute to the research on the molecular regulation mechanisms of biomineralization in *** and provide a new perspective to investigate biomineralization in deep-sea clams in general.

Objectives:Folic acid is a vitamin that is not highly soluble in water and is sensitive to the ***,it is important to find suitable *** study aimed to exemplify the interaction of folic acid with zein in alkaline aqueous solutions and shed light on how zein can be used as a carrier for folic *** and Methods:Zein and folic acid were separately dissolved in NaOH solutions with a ph of *** solution and folic acid solution were combined in specific *** methods including multi-spectroscopy,dynamic light scattering,and electron microscopy combining with molecular dynamics simulations were used to study the interaction mechanism between zein and folic acid in alkaline aqueous ***:Fluorescence spectroscopy showed that the quenching of zein by folic acid was mainly static,and the main driving force behind this interaction was van der Waals forces and hydrogen *** formation of zein–folic acid complexes was confirmed by ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,and circular dichroism *** results also showed that the structure of zein changed when it interacted with folic *** light scattering analysis revealed that the addition of folic acid caused proteins to *** aggregates of the complexes had an irregular shape and were large,as observed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron *** simulation was used to further investigate the interaction *** to these findings,the folic acid molecule interacted with zein in a shallow recess near the protein *** dominant forces at play in the zein–folic acid interaction were van der Waals forces and electrostatic forces,including hydrogen ***:The zein alkali-soluble system is very suitable for folic acid delivery.

Baicalin(BA)is a flavonoid extracted from the dried root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi with excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory biological *** this study,Eudragit S100 was used as the colonic target material to prepare BA colonic targeting granules(EBCGs)based on plasticizer dry powder coating technology to improve the targeting transportation performance of *** vitro studies showed that EBCGs with ph-sensitive properties were successfully prepared by plasticizer dry powder coating,and in vivo animal imaging studies showed that EBCGs could deliver BA to the colon and inhibit the release of BA in the upper gastrointestinal tract(GIT).In vivo studies showed that EBCGs had good therapeutic effects in colitis,which reduced expression levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and increased superoxide dismutase(SOD)activities in the colonic tissues of rats with *** conclusion,Eudragit S100 could be used for the preparation of multi-unit oral colon-targeted formulations by plasticizer dry powder coating technology,and our prepared EBCGs had good colon-targeting properties,which could improve the therapeutic effect and provide a potential application for ulcerative colitis(UC).

In order to meet the requirements of the marine environment for microwave absorption(MA)materials,we put forward the strategy of constructing multi-functional composite materials,which integrate microwave absorption,anti-corrosion,and antibacterial ***,graphene oxide(GO)was used as a template to induce the growth of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8),simultaneously as a two-dimensional(2D)nanocontainers to load corrosion inhibitors to achieve ph-responsive and self-healing ***,quaternary ammonium salt(dimethyl octadecyl(3-trimethoxylsilyl propyl)ammonium chloride(DMAOP))and sodium ascorbate(VCNa)were introduced to achieve synergistic antibacterial activity and the reduction of *** 2D strip-like structure of ZIF-8 was due to the confined growth induced by the electrostatic attraction between ZIF-8 and GO *** as-obtained reduced GO(RGO)/ZIF-8/DMAOP5 exhibited excellent microwave absorption(MA)properties,with a minimum reflection loss(RL)value of-47.08 dB at 12.73 GHz when the thickness was 2.8 ***,the effective absorption bandwidth reached 6.84 *** soaking in 3.5%NaCl solution for 35 days,the RGO/ZIF-8/DMAOP5-0.7%coating still achieved an impedance value of 4.585×107Ω·cm^(2) and a protective efficiency of 99.994%,providing superior anti-corrosion *** addition,fantastic antibacterial activity was obtained,with the antibacterial rates of RGO/ZIF-8/DMAOP_(10) reaching 99.39%and 100%against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus *** work could open new avenues towards the development of a new generation of multifunctional MA materials.

Understanding the initial use stage of cement mortar lining in drinking water distribution systems:Silicon and aluminum as stability indicators

The cement mortar lining(CML)of commonly used ductile iron pipes can severely deteriorate the drinking water quality at the initial stage of use,but the behavioral characteristics of different elements release from the CML in this stage is still *** this study,dynamic immersion experiments with new cement mortar lined ductile iron pipe reactors were conducted under different feed water hardness and alkalinity *** results showed that the release of alkaline substances from the CML at the initial stage of use could strongly influence the ph of water,which consequently greatly impacted the release/precipitation behaviors of calcium,aluminum and *** ph and aluminum concentration of the effluent water could reach 11.5 and 700μg/L within 24 hr of hydraulic retention time,respectively,under conditions of relatively lower hardness and *** to the ph elevation,calcium carbonate precipitation could occur even at much lower feed water *** the aluminum and silicon could keep release from the CML in soluble form at different hardness and alkalinity levels,and their release rate depended on the amount of calcium carbonate ***,aluminum and silicon were more suitable as indicators of the corrosion intensity at the initial stage of CML use rather than the traditional calcium carbonate precipitation *** feed water hardness and alkalinity levels for mitigating the initial intense corrosion of CML were proposed:hardness>40 mg/L(CaCO_(3)),alkalinity>100 mg/L(CaCO_(3)).

An 8-Node Plane Hybrid Element for StructuralMechanics Problems Based on the Hellinger-Reissner Variational Principle

The finite element method (FEM) plays a valuable role in computer modeling and is beneficial to the mechanicaldesign of various structural parts. However, the elements produced by conventional FEM are easily inaccurate andunstable when applied. Therefore, developing new elements within the framework of the generalized variationalprinciple is of great significance. In this paper, an 8-node plane hybrid finite element with 15 parameters (phQ8-15β) is developed for structural mechanics problems based on the Hellinger-Reissner variational *** to the design principle of Pian, 15 unknown parameters are adopted in the selection of stress modes toavoid the zero energy ***, the stress functions within each element satisfy both the equilibrium andthe compatibility relations of plane stress problems. Subsequently, numerical examples are presented to illustrate theeffectiveness and robustness of the proposed finite element. Numerical results show that various common lockingbehaviors of plane elements can be overcome. The ph-Q8-15β element has excellent performance in all benchmarkproblems, especially for structures with varying cross sections. Furthermore, in bending problems, the reasonablemesh shape of the new element for curved edge structures is analyzed in detail, which can be a useful means toimprove numerical accuracy.

Developing efficient ph-universal hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)catalysts is critical in the field of water electrolysis,however,which is severely hampered by the sluggish kinetics in alkaline ***,a ruthenium(Ru)incorporation induced vacancy engineering strategy is firstly proposed to precisely construct oxygen vacancy(V_(O))-riched cobalt-ruthenium metaphosphate(CRPO)for high-efficiency ph-universal *** V_(O) modifies the electronic structure,improves the superficial hydrophilic and gas spillover capacity,it also reduces the coordination number of Ru atoms and regulates the coordination *** calculations indicate that Ru tends to adsorb H_(2)O and H^(*),whereas V_(O) tends to adsorb OH^(-),which greatly promotes the H_(2)O adsorption and the dissociation of HO-H ***,CRPO-2 exhibits remarkable HER performance,the mass activity is about 18.34,21.73,and 38.07 times higher than that of Pt/C in acidic,neutral,and alkaline media,respectively,at the same time maintain excellent *** findings may pave a new avenue for the rational design of electrocatalysts toward ph-universal water electrolysis.

Pulmonary hypertension(ph)due to left heart failure(HF)accounts for approximately half of ph cases *** has been demonstrated that ph is a frequent complication of HF but is difficult to recognize in its early stage because it is characterized by nonspecific symptoms including shortness of breath and decreased tolerance of ***,nearly all multicentric clinical trials targeting pulmonary circulation in ph-HF have reported negative results.1 Thus,there are no effective methods for diagnosing early ph,and the current treatment of ph-HF is insufficient.
