Due to the lack of accurate data and complex parameterization,the prediction of groundwater depth is a chal-lenge for numerical *** learning can effectively solve this issue and has been proven useful in the prediction of groundwater depth in many *** this study,two new models are applied to the prediction of groundwater depth in the Ningxia area,*** two models combine the improved dung beetle optimizer(DBO)algorithm with two deep learning models:The Multi-head Attention-Convolution Neural Network-Long Short Term Memory networks(MH-CNN-LSTM)and the Multi-head Attention-Convolution Neural Network-Gated Recurrent Unit(MH-CNN-GRU).The models with DBO show better prediction performance,with larger R(correlation coefficient),RPD(residual prediction deviation),and lower RMSE(root-mean-square error).Com-pared with the models with the original DBO,the R and RPD of models with the improved DBO increase by over 1.5%,and the RMSE decreases by over 1.8%,indicating better prediction *** addition,compared with the multiple linear regression model,a traditional statistical model,deep learning models have better prediction performance.

A Possible Approach for Decadal Prediction of the PDO

The Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)is a leading mode of decadal sea surface temperature variability in the North *** PDO prediction can be beneficial in many aspects because of its global and regional ***,current climate models cannot provide satisfied decadal prediction of the PDO and related decadal variability of sea surface *** this study,we propose a new approach,i.e.,the increment method,to predicting the PDO.A series of validations demonstrate that the increment method is effective in improving decadal prediction of PDO and it can well capture the phase change of PDO with high *** prediction processes include three ***,a five-year smoothing is performed;second,effective preceding predictors for PDO are selected,with all predictors and predictands in the form of a three-year decadal increment(DI);third,the prediction model is set up for PDO three-year decadal increment(DI_PDO),and PDO prediction can be obtained by adding the predicted DI_PDO to the observed PDO three years *** new method can also be applied for decadal climate prediction of other modes(e.g.,Atlantic multidecadal oscillation)and predictands(e.g.,sea surface temperature).

Rational design and functional evolution of targeted peptides for bioanalytical applications

The complicated, highly dynamic and diverse nature of biosystems brings great challenges to the specific analysis of molecular processes of interest. Nature provides antibodies for the specific recognition of antigens, which is a straight-forward way for targeted analysis. However, there are still limitations during the practical applications due to the big size of the antibodies, which accelerate the discovery of small molecular probes. Peptides built from various optional building blocks and easily achieved by chemical synthetic approaches with predictable conformations, are versatile and can act as tailor-made targeting *** this mini review, we summarize the recent developments in the discovery of novel peptides for bioanalytical and biomedical applications. Progresses in peptide-library design and selection strategies are presented. Recent achievements in the peptide-guided detection, imaging and disease treatment are also focused.

Regulation of TH17 cell differentiation by innate immune signals

Upon antigen stimulation, naive T helper cells differentiate into distinct lineages to attain specialized properties and effector functions. TH17 cells, a recently identified lineage of CD4＋ effector T cells, play a key role in the immune defense against fungi and extracellular bacteria, but also contribute to the pathogenesis of many autoimmune conditions. The differentiation of TH 17 cells is orchestrated by an intricate network of signaling pathways and transcriptional regulators in T cells. While the involvement of T cell-intrinsic pathways has been described extensively, we are just beginning to appreciate how TH17 cell development is shaped by extrinsic pathways, espec- ially the innate immune signals. Dendritic cells （DCs）, the most important cell type to bridge innate and adaptive immunity, drive TH17 cell differentiation by providing antigenic, costimulatory and cytokine signals. This is mediated by the recognition of innate and inflam- matory signals by DCs via pattern recognition receptors, cytokine receptors and other immunomodulatory receptors that in turn activate the intracellular signaling network. In particular, p38a MAP kinase has emerged as a critical pathway to program DC-dependent TH17 cell differentiation by integrating multiple instructive signals in DCs. Here, we summarize the current knowledge on the mechanisms by which DC-derived innate immune signals drive TH17 cell differentiation.

Nanocomposites composed of modified natural polymer and inorganic nanomaterial for safe,high-efficiency,multifunctional protection of paper-based relics

Paper-based relics as important carriers of human history and civilization have been facing severe damage problems,and their protection is a major project for cultural heritage *** far,safe,high-efficiency,and multifunctional protection materials are still urgent to be ***,through screening a series of alkaline nano-oxides and cleverly combining the advantages of modified natural polymer(quaternized chitosan)and inorganic nanomaterials(Zn O),we successfully prepared their functional nanocomposites with multiple properties and pioneered their smart application for multifunctional protection of paper *** spraying loads,this kind of nanocomposites can effectively and safely inhibit the acid degradation of paper relics and long-term maintain a natural or weak basic state even under harsh accelerated aging ***,the coating of nanocomposites does not change the chromatic aberration but partially improves the ***,the mechanical properties of paper relics are reinforced up to more than one time for all-around tensile strength,folding endurance,and tearing *** is worth noting that the usage of nanocomposites can avoid the discoloration or fading of p H-sensitive pigments/dyes and prevent the blue/red inks from *** integrating the anti-microorganism effects of the two components,the nanocomposites have exhibited a broad antimicrobial capacity for both fungi(e.g.,Plectosphaerella cucumerina and Aspergillus unguis)and bacteria(e.g.,Staphylococcus aureus).The acquired knowledge not only represents an advanced step for designing functionalized inorganic/polymer nanocomposite but also sheds light on the multi-functional integrated protection of paperbased relics.

Homomeric Inclusion and Hydrogen-Bonding Cooperatively Directed Crystalline Assembly of a Cyclotriguaiacylene Derivative with Different Aromatic Acids

Five organic complexes are prepared by cocrystallization of tri-[（N-methyl-2-imidazoly）methoxy]cyclotriguiacylene （TMIM-CTG） with corresponding acids. While hydrogen bonds are the basic interactions in the five complexes, the homo-included motifs with C--H…π interactions also control the molecular arrangement except for complex 5. In complex 1, the two dimensional networks contain 1D zigzag chains formed by hydrogen bonding and 1D chains of homo-included CTG motifs. Complex 2 has 2D 4.82 hydrogen bonding networks, and the chains of homomeric inclusion extend the 2D structure to a 3D framework. Complex 3 contains four-membered rings through hydrogen bonds, and the chains of homo-inclusion link the rings to a novel 2D network. In complex 4, hydrogen bonds construct a novel double-layer 2D network, which is extended to a 3D framework by ＂hand-shake＂ dimeric homomeric inclusion interactions. Interestingly, there is no homomeric inclusion phenomenon in complex 5 and hydrogen bonds solely connect two components to a chiral （6,3） 2D network.

A skillful method for precipitation prediction over eastern China

Precipitation prediction is essential for disaster prevention,yet it still remains a challenging issue in weather and climate *** paper proposes an effective prediction method for summer precipitation over eastern China(PEC) by combining empirical orthogonal function(EOF) analysis with the interannual increment *** statistical prediction models are individually developed for respective predictions of the three principal components(PCs) corresponding to the three leading EOF modes for the interannual increment of PEC(hereafter DY;EC).Each model is run for the month of March with two previous predictors derived from sea-ice concentration/soil moisture/sea surface temperature/snow depth/sea level pressure over specific *** predicted PCs are projected to the EOF modes derived from observations of DY;EC to produce a new DY;*** new DY;EC is then added to the observed PEC of the previous year to obtain the final predicted *** spatial features of the predicted PEC are highly consistent with observations,with the anomaly correlation coefficient skill ranging from 0.32 to 0.64 during *** method is applied for real-time prediction of PEC in *** the results indicate two rain belts located over northeastern China and the Yangtze-Huaihe River valley,respectively,although the chance for the occurrence of a "super" mei-yu with a similar intensity to that in 2020 would be rare in 2021.

Problems and Solutions of China’s Real Estate Market Based on International Comparison

On the basis of determining the international comparison method and framework of the real estate market, this paper makes a comparative analysis on the development of China’s real estate market and those of some comparable countries (or regions). The prominent problem of the real estate market in our country is the rapid rise of urban house price and the high ratio of house price to income. The direct reason is that the social funds, especially the excessive credit funds flow into the real estate market. The indirect reason is that the land supply mode makes the land price increase too fast and account for high proportion in house price, which leads to the result that the development of real estate industry is beyond the stage of economic development. These problems are not isolated, but related to each other. The rapid rise of house prices in most of the cities, especially in the first-tier cities, is the comprehensive reflection of a large amount of credit funds promoting and the drawbacks of the land supply system in essence. The main ideas to solve the problem are correctly understanding the status, role and influence of the real estate market, stabilizing and improving the short-term control policy of the real estate market, and accelerating the establishment of a long-term mechanism for the healthy development of the real estate market.

Hybrid Seasonal Prediction of Meridional Temperature Gradient Associated with“Warm Arctic-Cold Eurasia”

The meridional gradient of surface air temperature associated with“Warm Arctic–Cold Eurasia”(GradTAE)is closely related to climate anomalies and weather extremes in the mid-low ***,the Climate Forecast System Version 2(CFSv2)shows poor capability for GradTAE *** on the year-to-year increment approach,analysis using a hybrid seasonal prediction model for GradTAE in winter(HMAE)is conducted with observed September sea ice over the Barents–Kara Sea,October sea surface temperature over the North Atlantic,September soil moisture in southern North America,and CFSv2 forecasted winter sea ice over the Baffin Bay,Davis Strait,and Labrador *** demonstrates good capability for predicting GradTAE with a significant correlation coefficient of 0.84,and the percentage of the same sign is 88%in cross-validation during 1983−*** also maintains high accuracy and robustness during independent predictions of 2016−***,HMAE can predict the GradTAE in 2021 well as an experiment of routine ***,well-predicted GradTAE is useful in the prediction of the large-scale pattern of“Warm Arctic–Cold Eurasia”and has potential to enhance the skill of surface air temperature occurrences in the east of China.

An Initialization Scheme for Weak Tropical Cyclones in the South China Sea

Variations in the initial structure of tropical cyclones(TCs) inevitably affect prediction results;however, the bogus model cannot accurately describe the structure of a weak tropical cyclone with increased initial field resolution. This study aims to construct a model to improve the prediction of weak TC in southern China. Based on the ECMWF 0.1° analysis data, several vortices were filtered out from tropical depressions and tropical storms in 2018 and 2019 to represent a weak TC reservoir in the South China Sea. For different simulation objects, filtered vortices were combined with the TC environmental field to form ensemble members. The observed TC information was assimilated for simulating TCs Bebinca, Mun, and Ewiniar to verify the feasibility of the proposed model, based on the Global/Regional Assimilation and Prediction Enhanced System(GRAPES) 9-km model developed by the Guangzhou Institute of Tropical and Marine Meteorology. The results show that the initialization scheme of the weak tropical cyclone model improved the intensity prediction of the TC by 26.81%(Bebinca), 18.65%(Mun), and 47.00%(Ewiniar), compared with the control experiment. Because typhoon intensity forecasting has not notably improved for many years, this scheme has certain scientific and operational significance.
