A nanoplatform with oxygen self-supplying and heat-sensitizing capabilities enhances the efficacy of photodynamic therapy in eradicating multidrug-resistant biofilms

Bacterial biofilms,especially those caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria,have emerged as one of the greatest dangers to global public health.The acceleration of antimicrobial resistance to conventional an-tibiotics and the severe lack of new drugs necessitates the development of novel agents for biofilm eradication.Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a promising non-antibiotic method for treating bacterial infections.However,its application in biofilm eradication is hampered by the hypoxic microenvironment of biofilms and the physical protection of extracellular polymeric substances.In this study,we develop a composite nanoplatform with oxygen(O_(2))self-supplying and heat-sensitizing capabilities to improve the PDT efficacy against biofilms.CaO_(2)/ICG@PDA nanoparticles(CIP NPs)are fabricated by combining calcium peroxide(CaO_(2))with the photosensitizer indocyanine green(ICG)via electrostatic interactions,followed by coating with polydopamine(PDA).The CIP NPs can gradually generate O_(2)in response to the acidic microenvironment of the biofilm,thereby alleviating its hypoxic state.Under near-infrared(NIR)irradiation,the nanoplatform converts O_(2)into a significant amount of singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2))and heat to eradicate biofilm.The generated heat enhances the release of O_(2),accelerates the generation of^(1)O_(2)in PDT,increases cell membrane permeability,and increases bacterial sensitivity to^(1)O_(2).This nanoplatform significantly improves the efficacy of PDT in eradicating biofilm-dwelling bacteria without fostering drug resistance.Experiments on biofilm eradication demonstrate that this nanoplatform can eradicate over 99.9999%of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)biofilms under 5-min NIR irradiation.Notably,these integrated advantages enable the system to promote the healing of MRSA biofilm-infected wounds with negligible toxicity in vivo,indicating great promise for overcoming the obstacles associated with bacterial biofilm eradication.

Late Cenozoic uplift of the Liupan Mountains:Evidence from the Neogene loess deposits

The Liupan Mountains,one of the important mountain ranges in western China,are located on the boundary between the northeastern Tibetan Plateau and the Ordos Block.The uplift history of the Liupan Mountains remains controversial.Loess deposits are good tracers of regional tectonic and geomorphic changes,because loess is sensitive to erosion and the formation and preservation of loess requires relatively flat highlands and relatively stable tectonic environments.We investigated the distribution of Neogene loess deposits on the western piedmont of the Liupan Mountains and examined a near-continuous loess section(Nanping section)on the piedmont alluvial highlands.Correlation of magnetic susceptibility stratigraphy with the QA-ⅠMiocene loess sequence dates this 56-m section covering the interval from~8.1 to 6.2 Ma.The lower boundary age of this section,together with previously reported Zhuanglang red clay(sand-gravel layers with intercalated loess during~9–8 Ma and near-continuous loess during~8–4.8 Ma)and Chaona red clay(~8.1–2.58 Ma),indicates that the Liupan Mountains were uplifted in the late Miocene(~9–8 Ma)and basically formed by~8 Ma,attesting to no intense mountain building since that time.In addition,based on the information from the Zhuanglang core and the QA-Ⅰsection,we infer that sizable parts of the Liupan Mountains were uplifted during the late Oligocene–early Miocene and did not experience intense uplift during~22–9 Ma.

Toward practical gas sensing with rapid recovery semiconducting carbon nanotube film sensors

Nanomaterials have been considered as promising materials to construct highly sensitive and miniaturized gas sensors due to their high ratio of surface to volume, but almost all of the reported nanomaterials based resistive gas sensors are difficult to use in the practical system mainly owing to the long recovery time and non-equilibrium state at room temperature. Here, we demonstrate a gate assistant technology to realize the rapid recovery to an equilibrium state in semiconducting carbon nanotube(CNT) thin-film gas sensors and promote the CNT-based gas sensors to reach the practical application level. Specifically, we construct highly uniform gas sensors based on semiconducting solution-derived CNT film and accelerate the gas molecules desorption by applying a voltage on the back gate(substrate), which is named gate-assistant recovery technology. By combining the gate-assistant recovery technology and a modified concentration calculation method, highly reproducible detection systems have been realized by using a custom-built printed circuit board(PCB) based data acquisition circuits to execute a real-time rapid detection of H2 in the air at room temperature, and especially exhibits a record response time of 9 s and recovery time of 50 s under a resolution of 10 ppm, which outperformed previous low dimensional nanomaterials based portable H2 detection systems. The gate-assistant rapid recovery and related concentration calculation technologies are helpful to promote the nanomaterials-based gas sensors to practical application for highly sensitive online gas detection.

针对矿区巷道环境复杂、道路狭窄等特点,提出了一种基于SLAM(SimultaneousLocalizationandMapping)技术的矿区巷道巡检机器人路径规划优化方法,实现机器人的自主定位和地图构建。采用激光雷达、RGB-D相机等多种传感器相融合,获取矿区三维点云数据,并使用SLAM算法实时构建矿区三维地图。同时,通过配准当前获取的点云数据与已构建的地图,实现机器人在矿区内的自主定位。针对矿山中存在的狭窄、弯曲、分支等复杂环境,提出了一种增量式A~*优化算法用于路径规划。该算法在传统A~*算法的基础上,引入了路径平滑、走廊宽度约束等优化策略,能生成满足矿区复杂环境约束的平滑可行路径。算法采用增量式方式更新,只需对改变的局部区域重新进行路径搜索,大大减少了整体路径规划的计算耗时。通过试验验证该算法性能,结果表明:与传统路线规划方法相比,该算法能够快速、精准地完成巡检任务,为矿区巷道巡检机器人推广应用提供了参考。

探讨生物多样性与当地知识在促进偏远农村地区生态旅游发展中的重要性,并提出相关的路径和策略.通过一个决策框架,结合决策试验与实验评估法(DEMATEL)、最佳—最差法(BW)和有序加权平均法(OWA)来解决偏远农村生态旅游发展问题.对云南省普洱市思茅区思茅岗镇茨竹林村的案例研究,分析和确定了不同准则的重要性.研究结果显示,在这个决策框架中生物多样性保护是最重要的准则,其次是当地知识应用与传承.这与茨竹林村拥有丰富的生物多样性和历史悠久的风土文化价值相吻合.使用BW方法对不同发展计划进行评估,并将评估结果与OWA方法测试的不同风险情况相结合.根据不同的风险态度,发现注重当地知识的生态旅游计划在风险倾向的情况下更具优势,而注重生物多样性的生态旅游计划在风险中立和风险规避的情况下占据优势.研究结果表明,生物多样性与当地知识在生态旅游发展计划中起着重要的作用.根据研究结果,提出了促进偏远农村地区生态旅游发展的路径和策略.

The influence of extreme cold ambient temperature on out of hospital cardiac arrest: A systemic review and meta-analysis

Objective:Many researches have demonstrated the effects of the extreme cold ambient temperature on the risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest(OHCA);yet,the results have been inconsistent.We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate whether extreme cold ambient temperature is related to OHCA.Methods:We searched for time-series studies reporting associations between extreme cold ambient temperature and OHCA in PubMed,web of science and Cochrane database.Results:Six studies involving 2337403 cases of OHCA were qualified for our meta-analysis.The odds ratio(OR)of OHCA was significantly increased in extreme cold weather(defined as the 1st or 5th centile temperature year-round)compared to reference temperature(as the 25th centile temperatures or daily mean temperature with minimum risk of OHCA)(OR=1.49,95%CI 1.18-1.88).The subgroup analysis for the elderly and the female failed to detect the influence of extreme cold weather on OHCA,the ORs are 1.25(95%CI 0.89-1.75)and 1.19(95%CI 0.87-1.64),respectively.Conclusion:The risk of OHCA is significantly higher in extreme cold ambient temperatures than in reference temperature,according to a relative temperature scale with percentiles of the region-specific temperature distribution.

为了研究滴灌对甘薯产量和品质的影响,本研究分析了常规肥水管理(对照)和水肥一体化(滴灌)对砂质土栽培甘薯的生长、产量及品质方面的影响。结果表明,与对照相比,滴灌能促进甘薯前期地上部快速生长,结薯期薯块生长速度,薯块鲜重和干重均明显高于对照;滴灌种植的甘薯产量比对照增加44.91%;薯块淀粉含量、可溶性糖含量和可溶性蛋白含量高于对照,粗纤维低于对照。研究结果为砂地实施滴灌栽培甘薯提供了参考。

针对当前药物突释、利用率低和持续释放等问题,以海藻酸钠(SA)和羟丙甲基纤维素(HPMC)为成膜剂,采用流延成膜的方法制备了海藻酸钠口腔速溶膜,对其化学结构、透光性和水溶性进行了分析,得到最佳的SA和HPMC的成膜比例,在此基础上,负载盐酸苄达明(BH)制备海藻酸钠载药口腔速溶膜。结果表明,最佳成膜比例为w(SA):w(HPMC)=1:2;另外,当BH负载量为30%时,海藻酸钠载药口腔速溶膜力学性能最好,当负载量为40%时,其包封率和载药效率最佳,经济成本更好。

Direct observation of the Mpemba effect with water:Probe the mysterious heat transfer

The Mpemba effect is one of the most perplexing puzzles in nature.Although it has been discussed extensively,direct observation of the Mpemba effect is extremely challenging and rare.Herein,we report the first systematic study of the Mpemba effect with water and clearly point out the conditions required for the observation of the Mpemba effect.The results demonstrate that hot water usually has a faster cooling rate than cold water.The initial temperature,temperature difference,shape of the container,and water volume influence the heat exchange and the cooling process.Owing to the influential factors of heat exchange,the Mpemba effect can only be observed under specific conditions.This work helps to clarify doubts and confusion about the Mpemba effect and can offer alternative strategies for energy storage and transfer materials.
