Microstructures and properties of Cu-Cr-W composite coatings fabricated by surface mechanical alloying technique

Cu-Cr-W composite coatings were prepared by mechanical alloying(MA)method using different powder ratios,rotational speeds and milling *** micro structures and chemical compositions of as-synthesized coatings were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).Phases of ball-milled powders were identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results indicate that the coating fabricated with powder ratio of 40 wt%Cu-Cr-W has better surface and cross-sectional microstructures and higher *** comparisons of cross-sectional micro structures of the coatings fabricated at different rotational speeds suggest that rotational speed of 300 r·min-1is the optimal for fabrication the coating,and the optimal milling time for the formation of coating is 7 *** results of microhardness test show that the hardness of the substrate is largely improved because of the as-fabricated *** results of the friction and wear tests indicate that the wear resistance of the copper substrate is improved after the deposition of Cu-Cr-W coating on *** coating fabricated for 7 h exhibits the lowest friction coefficient,indicating its favorable friction and wear *** formation mechanism of the coating was *** to the investigations in this work,the Cu-Cr-W coating fabricated by MA method is considered to be effective to reinforce the copper substrate.

Large numbers of bacteria live on the surface of various brown algae and can produce alginate lyases to consume alginate,an important component of the cell wall of brown *** is a genus of the largest canopyforming brown algae of more than 150 species,which are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical ***,our knowledge about the epiphytic bacteria and the alginate lyase-excreting bacteria from Sargassum is still ***,we investigated the diversity of the culturable epiphytic bacteria and alginate-degrading bacteria from Sargassum samples collected from the coastal seawaters of Shandong Province,*** total,37 strains belonging to 21 genera in 3 phyla were isolated,including 15 previously unreported genera,of which Vibrio(6/37)and Pseudoalteromonas(5/37)are the dominant *** strains,mainly Vibrio and Pseudoalteromonas species,were further identified as alginate lyase-excreting strains that can utilize alginate for *** extracellular alginolytic activity of the 8 strains was determined,and strains Vibrio sp.C42and Pseudoalteromonas sp.M9 showed the highest *** results provide a better understanding of brown algae epiphytes and alginate-degrading bacteria,and are fundamental for further studies on the interactions between brown algae and their epiphytes.

Commercially pure(CP)titanium is thermally processed and subjected to biaxial ***,the evolution of the microstructural deformation mechanisms under such circumstances is not adequately *** this study,the mechanical responses and microstructural deformation mechanisms of TA2 CP titanium sheets under equi-biaxial loading at room temperature(RT),300℃,and 400℃were *** activated slip and twinning systems were investigated by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)after polished cruciform specimens were biaxially tensile-tested at RT and elevated *** results show that{11¯22}contraction twinning and{10¯12}extension twinning are the main deforma-tion mechanisms of RT biaxial deformation,while dislocation glide is predominant in biaxial deformation at 300℃and 400℃.This difference yields varied work-hardening behaviors at RT and elevated *** biaxial deformation at 400℃,the main slip trace type is multiple *** interaction of different slip systems in multiple slip created shear deformation concentration areas and further induced ***,in biaxial deformation at 300℃,the amounts of simplex and multiple slip were significantly reduced compared to those at 400℃because the lower temperature increased the critical resolved shear stress and insufficient activated slip systems were available for grain ***-fore,several stress-concentration areas were generated with the activation of cross-slip.

Living cells and active factors are the two core elements of tissue repair,directly affecting the healing efficiency of damaged ***(NF)can release living cells,such as adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs),as well as active growth factors to promote angiogenesis,thus realizing cell-based wound ***,a novel living electrospun short fibrous sponge is constructed by modifying three-dimensional(3D)bionic short fibers with engineered *** uniform distribution of the polydopamine(PDA)modification endows the living sponges with stable mechanical properties,reversible water absorption and excellent adhesion even after repeated compression by an external force and long-term aqueous ***,the living electrospun short fibrous sponges with uniform NF modification contain living cells such as ADSCs and active growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),which can effectively promote the tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).In vivo,the living sponges can effectively and continuously act on wounds and act as a bionic living skin to prevent the loss of internal nutrients,creating a comfortable and favorable microenvironment for tissue regeneration and promoting the healing of diabetic ***,living electrospun short fibrous sponges via engineered NF are expected to achieve continuous wound healing with in situ living cells and active factors in injured tissues.

Catharanthus roseus L. （Madagascar periwinkle） biosynthesizes a diverse array of secondary metabolites including anticancer dimeric alkaloids （vinblastine and vincristine） and antihypertensive alkaloids （ajmalicine and serpentine）. The multi-step terpenoid indole alkaloids （TIAs） biosynthetic pathway in C. roseus is complex and is under strict molecular regulation. Many enzymes and genes involved in the TIAs biosynthesis have been studied in recent decades. Moreover, some regulatory proteins were found recently to control the production of TIAs in C. roseus. Based on mastering the rough scheme of the pathway and cloning the related genes, metabolic engineering of TIAs biosynthesis has been studied in C. roseus aiming at increasing the desired secondary metabolites in the past few years. The present article summarizes recent advances in isolation and characterization of TIAs biosynthesis genes and transcriptional regulators involved in the second metabolic control in C. roseus. Metabolic engineering applications in TIAs pathway via overexpression of these genes and regulators in C. roseus are also discussed.

The p-NiO/n-TiO2/polyaniline composites were synthesized via in situ polymerization of aniline. The structure and morphology of the composites were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. It was found that the p-n junction p-NiO/n-TiO2 particles were trapped in the polyaniline molecular matrix and the polyaniline was deposited on the surface of the particles to form a kind of flower cluster morphologies. The electrochemical behavior of the polyaniline composites was investigated. The electrochemical reactivity of the polyaniline was influenced by the p-NiO/n-TiO2 particles due to the effect of electron-hole pairs in these p-n junction particles. The reversibility of redox process and current intensity of the polyaniline composites with the changing of potential scan rate were also discussed.

Cellular strategies remain a crucial component in bone tissue engineering （BTE）. So far, the outcome of cell-based strategies from initial clinical trials is far behind compared to animal studies, which is suggested to be related to insufficient nutrient and oxygen supply inside the Ussue-engineered constructs. Cocultures, by introducing angiogenic cells into osteogenic cell cultures, might provide a solution for improving vascularization and hence increasing bone formation for cell-based constructs. So far, pre-clinical studies demonstrated that cocultures enhance vascularization and bone formation compared to monocultures. However, there has been no report on the application of cocultures in clinics. Therefore, this mini-review aims to provide an overview regarding （i） critical parameters in cocultures and the outcomes of cocultures compared to monocultures in the currently available pre-clinical studies using human mesenchymal stem cells implanted in orthotopic animal models; and （ii） the usage of monocultures in clinical application in BTE.

In this paper, we focus on the design of irregular QC-LDPC code based multi-level coded modulation(MLCM) scheme by jointly optimizing the component code rate and the degree distribution of the irregular QC-LDPC component code. Firstly, the sub-channel capacities of MLCM systems is analyzed and discussed, based on which the optimal component code rate can be obtained. Secondly, an extrinsic information transfer chart based two-stage searching algorithm is proposed to find the good irregular QC-LDPC code ensembles with optimal component code rates for their corresponding sub-channels. Finally, by constructing the irregular QC-LDPC component codes from the designed ensembles with the aim of possibly enlarging the girth and reducing the number of the shortest cycles, the designed irregular QC-LDPC code based 16QAM and 64QAM MLCM systems can achieve 0.4 dB and 1.2 dB net coding gain, respectively, compared with the recently proposed regular QC-LDPC code based 16QAM and 64QAM MLCM systems.

Critical bone defects caused by extensive excision of malignant bone tumor and the probability of tumor recurrence due to residual tumor cells make malignant bone tumor treatment a major clinical *** present therapeutic strategy concentrates on implanting bone substitutes for defect filling but suffers from failures in both enhancing bone regeneration and inhibiting the growth of tumor ***,Cu and Mn-doped borosilicate nanoparticles(BSNs)were developed for syncretic bone repairing and anti-tumor treatment,which can enhance bone regeneration through the osteogenic effects of Cu^(2+) and Mn^(3+) ions and meanwhile induce tumor cells apoptosis through the hydroxyl radicals produced by the Fenton-like reactions of Cu^(2+) and Mn^(3+) *** vitro study showed that both osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs and angiogenesis of endothelial cells were promoted by BSNs,and consistently the critical bone defects of rats were efficiently repaired by BSNs through in vivo ***,BSNs could generate hydroxyl radicals through Fenton-like reactions in the simulated tumor microenvironment,promote the generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species,and eventually induce tumor cell ***,subcutaneous tumors of mice were effectively inhibited by BSNs without causing toxic side effects to normal tissues and ***,Cu and Mn-doped BSNs developed in this work performed dual functions of enhancing osteogenesis and angiogenesis for bone regeneration,and inhibiting tumor growth for chemodynamic therapy,thus holding a great potential for syncretic bone repairing and anti-tumor therapy.
