Speciation and bioaccessibility of lead and cadmium in soil treated with metal-enriched Indian mustard leaves

Indian mustard （Brassica juncea （L.） Czern.） has shown good potential for the phytoremediation of soil contaminated with heavy metals. However, there is little information about the speciation and bioaccessibility of heavy metals in soil during the decomposition of metal-rich Indian mustard leaves. Incubation experiments （1-, 3-, and 6-month） were carried out in Beijing and Hunan soil with metal-rich Indian mustard leaves addition （1% and 3%） and the effects of mustard leaves addition on the speciation and bioaccessibility of heavy metals were studied. The results showed that the addition of mustard leaves led to significant increases in pH and DOC in the Hunan soil. Both 1% and 3% of mustard leaf amendment caused the percentage of the exchangeable （F1）, precipitated with carbonates （F2）, bound to Fe/Mn oxides （F3） and bound to organic matter （F4） fractions of Pb and Cd to increase dramatically, while the percentage of the residual fraction （F5） of Cd and Pb significantly dropped in both Beijing and Hunan soils. Mustard leaf addition caused the bioaccessibility of Pb to decrease in the gastric phase, whereas the values increased in the small intestinal phase. The Cd bioaccessibility increased with mustard leaf addition in both the gastric and small intestinal phases. In conclusion, the metal-enriched mustard leaves addition induces Pb and Cd concentrations and their mobility increasing in the Beijing and Hunan soils. Therefore, heavy metal risk in metal-enriched plant leaves should be considered in phytoremediation system in which heavy metal might be brought back to soil and changed over time.

Synthetic control of chiral pore surfaces in covalent organic frameworks for enantioselective separation of chiral drugs

Enantioselective separations of racemates using porous materials are highly attractive and significant in both fundamental research and technological applications. However, achieving controlled chiral pore surfaces to create the necessary driving force for enantiomer discrimination poses a fundamental challenge. Herein, we demonstrate that chiral covalent organic frameworks(COFs) possess the essential characteristics for effective enantioseparations through synthetic control over pore surfaces. We synthesized three 3D chiral COFs (CCOFs) featuring abundant chiral recognition sites on the pore walls via the condensation of enantiopure dialdehyde of 2,2′-dihydroxy-1,1′-binaphthyl and tetraamine. All CCOFs with high stability exhibit an 11-fold interpenetrated framework with tubular open channels, decorated with dihydroxyl or diethoxyl groups. The CCOFs with dihydroxyl groups serve as solid adsorbents for the adsorptive separation and solid-phase extraction of various chiral 1-phenylethanol-derived enantiomers, particularly racemic drugs, achieving up to 98%enantiomeric excess. In contrast, the CCOF with diethoxy groups is unable to resolve the racemates. These CCOF materials can be recycled and reused without any apparent loss of performance. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the enantiospecific recognition arises from the well-organized chiral inner sphere and multiple chiral host-guest interactions.

Modeling and flapping vibration suppression of a novel tailless flapping wing micro air vehicle

This paper establishes and analyzes a high-fidelity nonlinear time-periodic dynamic model and the corresponding state observer for flapping vibration suppression of a novel tailless Flapping Wing Micro Air Vehicle(FWMAV),named ***,a complete modeling of NPU-Tinybird is determined,including the aerodynamic model based on the quasi-steady method,the kinematic and dynamic model about the mechanism of flapping and attitude control,combined with the single rigid body dynamic *** on this,a linearized longitudinal pitch dynamic cycle-averaged model is obtained and analyzed through the methods of neural network fitting and system identification,preparing for the design of flapping vibration suppression *** vibration is an inherent property of the tailless FWMAV,which arises from the influence of time-periodic aerodynamic forces and *** can be captured by attitude and position sensors on the plane,which impairs the flight performance and efficiency of flight controller and *** deal with this problem,a novel state observer for flapping vibration suppression is designed.A robust optimal controller based on the linear quadratic theory is also designed to stabilize the closed-loop *** results are given to verify the performance of the observer,including the closed loop responses combined with robust optimal controller,the comparison of different parameters of observer and the comparison with several classic methods,such as Kalman filter,H-infinity filter and low-pass filter,which prove that the novel observer owns a fairly good suppression effect on flapping vibration and benefits for the improvement of flight performance and control efficiency.

背景:如何改善造血微环境是目前再生障碍性贫血治疗的热点问题。目的:结合GEO测序分析、网络药理学与实验验证当归多糖改善骨髓造血微环境治疗再生障碍性贫血的作用机制。方法:借助GEO数据库获得了再生障碍性贫血相关差异表达基因并进行GO和GSEA分析。结合文献与PubChem、SwissTargetPrediction、PharmMapper数据库获取当归多糖活性成分和靶点。取交集靶点后利用STRING和Cytoscape构建蛋白相互作用网络,并进行GO和KEGG富集分析。构建再生障碍性贫血小鼠模型,利用血细胞分析仪、流式细胞术、ELISA、免疫组化、免疫荧光染色、Western blot方法验证当归多糖对再生障碍性贫血的疗效与作用机制。结果与结论:(1)共筛选出834个差异表达基因,参与细胞发育、造血、髓系细胞分化等生物学过程;(2)检索得到当归多糖相关347个靶点并筛选出77个潜在治疗基因,其中VEGFA、EGLN1、BCL2、干扰素γ、白细胞介素2、白细胞介素4、白细胞介素6等血管生成、凋亡及免疫相关因子度值显著;(3)KEGG通路富集分析治疗靶点主要富集在Th17细胞分化、NK相关细胞毒性、细胞黏附因子等干扰素γ、白细胞介素2、白细胞介素4相关信号通路;(4)动物实验表明,当归多糖能够显著改善再生障碍性贫血小鼠骨髓造血,增加外周血细胞及骨髓单个核细胞计数,提高小鼠存活率;与模型组相比,当归多糖组小鼠Th1/Th2细胞比例显著下降(P<0.01),干扰素γ水平显著降低(P<0.01),白细胞介素4水平升高(P<0.05),VEGFA表达显著升高(P<0.01),EGLN1表达显著降低(P<0.01),骨髓单个核细胞凋亡率、活性氧水平显著降低(P<0.01),Cleaved Caspase-3蛋白表达显著增高(P<0.01),Bcl-2/Bax比值显著降低(P<0.01);(5)结果表明:当归多糖能够通过调节异常T细胞亚群,促进血管生成以改善造血微环境,并抑制骨髓单个核细胞凋亡,以改善再生障碍性贫血小鼠的造血功能。

The breeding of japonica rice in northern China: An 11-year study(2006–2016)

The world’s population is facing food shortages due to climate change and the competition for arable land between food and energy *** national and international projects to develop"super rice"cultivars were established in recent decades to attain a‘third leap forward’in rice *** order to evaluate the breeding process in northern China,an 11-year tracking survey of japonica rice breeding,which involved a total of 520 rice accessions and 67 test plots,was completed in this *** results showed that the yields of these accessions had increased stably,which was similar to control check varieties(CKs).The breeding strategy reduced the panicle number and increased the grain number per panicle through an increase of spikelet density(number of grains per centimeter on the panicle).This high spikelet density benefits not only the yield but also the blast resistance and amylose *** higher latitudes,the preferred rice accessions had slim grain shape and extended growth *** the middle latitudes among the test plots,the breeders focused on reducing the amylose content to improve the cooking quality of the rice *** and blast resistance were the two highest priorities during the breeding selection *** present study evaluated the breeding process in northern China during the last decade,which may lead to new insights into the future of rice breeding.

TGA factors promote plant root growth by modulating redox homeostasis or response

To identify novel regulators of stem cell renewal,we mined an existing but little explored cell typespecific transcriptome dataset for the Arabidopsis root.A member of the TGA family of transcription factors,TGA8,was found to be specifically expressed in the quiescent center(QC).Mutation in TGA8 caused a subtle root growth phenotype,suggesting functional redundancy with other TGA *** a promoter::HGFP transgenic approach,we showed that all TGA factors were expressed in the root,albeit at different levels and with distinct spatial *** analyses revealed that all TGA factors examined contribute to root growth by promoting stem cell renewal,meristem activity,and cell *** transcriptome analyses,histochemical assays,and physiological tests,we demonstrated that functional redundancy exists among members of cladesⅡandⅤor those in cladesⅠandⅢ.These two groups of TGA factors act differently,however,as their mutants responded to oxidative stress differently and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction assays showed they regulate different sets of genes that are involved in redox *** study has thus uncovered a previously unrecognized broad role and a mechanistic explanation for TGA factors in root growth and development.

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Controlled release and antibacterial activity of nanofibers loaded with basil essential oil-encapsulated cationic liposomes against Listeria monocytogenes

In recent years,the development of functional packaging from natural active compounds has been a promising strategy for microbial control in *** this study,the basil essential oil(BEO)was applied as the principal antibacterial agent,and a controlled-release nanofibrous system was engineered with responsiveness to bacterial *** indicated that encapsulation by cationic liposome significantly improved the dispersity and stability of BEO during the electrospinning process,and the prepared BEO-loaded cationic liposomes(BCLs)could maintain structural integrity in polymer *** resulting BCLs-loaded nanofibers showed an effective antibacterial activity against ***,it is worth noting that incorporation of soybean lecithin in nanofiber substrate could accelerate the release of loaded antibacterial agents when exposed to ***,thus obtaining an enhanced antibacterial *** could be attributed to the increased sensitivity of nanofibers to the degradation by bacterial phospholipases after incorporation with soybean ***,the application test showed that the prepared antibacterial nanofibrous mats could help maintain the quality of chilled pork during 4-days storage,which indicated their promising potential as active *** the serious threat of *** to food safety,the present antibacterial nanofibers have wide application prospect for improving microbial safety of chilled meat.

Performance of a single-stage Linde-Hampson refrigerator operating with binary refrigerants at the temperature level of-60°C

The optimization of the performance of a single-stage Linde-Hampson refrigerator （LHR） operating with six different binary refrigerants （R23/R134a, R23/R227ea, R23/R236ea, R170/R290, R170/R600a and R170/R600） with ozone depletion potentials （ODPs） of zero was conducted using a new approach at the temperature level of-60℃. Among these binary refrig- erants, the 0.55 and the 0.6 mole fractions of R23 for R23/R236ea are the most prospective nonflammable ones for the medium and low suction pressure compressors, respectively. For these two kinds of compressors, the 0.6 and the 0.65 mole fractions of R170 for R 170/R600, respectively, are the most prospective binary refrigerants with low global warming potentials （GWPs）. The results of optimization of pressure levels indicate that the optimum low pressure value for coefficients of performance （COP） is achieved when the minimum temperature differences occur at both the hot and the cold ends of the recuperator at a specified composition and pressure ratio. Two useful new parameters, the entropy production per unit heat recuperated and the ratio of heat recuperating capacity to the power consumption of the compression, were introduced to analyze the exergy loss ratio in the recuperator. The new approach employed in this paper also suggests a promising application even to the optimization of the performance with multi-component refrigerants.

Microscopic and spectroscopic analysis of atmospheric iron-containing single particles in Lhasa,Tibet
