From non-carbon host toward carbon-free lithium-sulfur batteries

Lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries with advantages of high energy densities(2600 Wh·kg^(-1)/2800 Wh·L^(-1))and sulfur abundance are regarded as promising candidates for next-generation high-energy batteries.However,the conventional carbon host used in sulfur cathodes suffers from poor chemical adsorption towards Li-polysulfides(LPS)in liquid electrolyte and sluggish redox kinetics,leading to low capacity and rate capability.Besides,carbon host used in Li metal anode with the intrinsic property of poor lithiophilicity and high Li-nucleation barrier gives rise to uncontrollable dendrite growth and further battery failure.Therefore,non-carbon hosts with chemical adsorption toward LPS and catalytic activity for accelerating LPS redox conversion as well as lithiophilic property for guiding uniform Li deposition are proposed and demonstrated a high efficiency in both sulfur cathodes and Li metal anodes.In this review,the principle and challenges of Li-S batteries are first presented,then recent work using non-carbon hosts in Li-S batteries is summarized comprehensively,and the mechanism of non-carbon host in improving sulfur utilization and stabilizing Li metal anode is discussed in detail.Furthermore,remaining challenges and outlook on the implementation of non-carbon host for practical carbon-free Li-S batteries are also provided.

Preparation and investigation of a novel iodine-based visible polyvinyl alcohol embolization material

Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) embolization particles, currently used in clinical practice, have good expansibility and are capable of permanent embolization. However, the lack of adhesion of embolization particles contributes to facilitated recanalization after embolization, while the lack of visualization facilitates misembolization. At present, embolization materials with good expansion, adhesion, and visualization potential are urgently required in clinical practice. Here, we report the development of PVA/gelatin/iohexol(I) fiber blocks as a novel embolization material for liver embolization in rats. In our work, electrospun PVA/gelatin/I nanofibrous mats were first prepared, homogenized, centrifuged in a gradient manner, and freeze-dried to obtain fiber blocks(fiber diameter =296.2 ± 74.23 nm, length 99.6 ± 17.0 μm × width 46.9 ± 13.3 μm). The fiber blocks exhibited excellent cytocompatibility and hemocompatibility. Fiber blocks with a PVA/gelatin/I mass ratio of 8:2:10 were selected due to their excellent expansibility and adhesive properties. The PVA/gelatin/I fiber blocks display excellent liver embolic effects and computed tomography(CT) imaging potential due to a combination of the following characteristics: expansibility of PVA and gelatin, adhesive property of gelatin, and CT imaging potential of I. The developed fiber block material is an embolic material that may potentially be used in interventional medicine.

A Comprehensive Evaluation Framework of Water-Energy-Food System Coupling Coordination in the Yellow River Basin,China

For mankind’s survival and development,water,energy,and food(WEF)are essential material guarantees.In China,however,the spatial distribution of WEF is seriously unbalanced and mismatched.Here,a collaborative governance mechanism that aims at nexus security needs to be urgently established.In this paper,the Yellow River Basin in China with a representative WEF system,was selected as a case.Firstly,a comprehensive framework for WEF coupling coordination was constructed,and the relationship and mechanism between them were analyzed theoretically.Then,we investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics and driving mechanisms of the coupling coordination degree(CCD)with a composite evaluation method,coupling coordination degree model,spatial statistical analysis,and multiscale geographic weighted regression.Finally,policy implications were discussed to promote the coordinated development of the WEF system.The results showed that:1)WEF subsystems showed a significant imbalance of spatial pattern and diversity in temporal changes;2)the CCD for the WEF system varied little and remained at moderate coordination.Areas with moderate coordination have increased,while areas with superior coordination and mild disorder have decreased.In addition,the spatial clustering phenomenon of the CCD was significant and showed obvious characteristics of polarization;and 3)the action of each factor is self-differentiated and regionally variable.For different factors,GDP per capita was of particular importance,which contributed most to the regional development’s coupling coordination.For different regions,GDP per capita,average yearly precipitation,population density,and urbanization rate exhibited differences in geographical gradients in an east-west direction.The conclusion can provide references for regional resource allocation and sustainable development by enhancing WEF system utilization efficiency.

Enlarged interlayer of separator coating enabling high-performance lithiumsulfur batteries

Lithiumsulfur batteries have been intensively studied due to their high theoretical energy density and abundant sulfur resources. However, their commercial application is hindered by the low redox kinetics and high sulfur losses. In principle, in the design of cathodes and separators, the adsorption toward lithium-polysulfides should be enhanced and the conversion of soluble high-order lithium-polysulfides should be catalyzed. Herein, a KV_(3)O_(8)·0.75H_(2)O separator is designed as an effective lithium-polysulfides mediator in lithiumsulfur batteries. The intercalated K+ would enlarge the interlayer spacing of vanadium oxides, preventing the collapse of the layer structure and improving the electrical/ion conductivity of the interface. Moreover, the KV_(3)O_(8)·0.75H_(2)O modified separator possess a prior adsorption and high redox kinetics toward lithium-polysulfides due to the enhanced diffusion kinetics, which guarantees the high-rate capability and efficient utilization of sulfur. As a result, lithiumsulfur batteries exhibit a high capacity of 1362 mAh·g^(-1) and a long lifespan with a low capacity loss of 0.073% per cycle. This work may provide an alternative way to establish a functional separator to balance the adsorption and conversion of polysulfides during the redox back and forth.

西方政治学话语体系中的国家—社会关系理论是建构中国政治学话语体系的重要理论资源,这一理论的本土化运用折射出中国政治学界对西方理论学习、运用与转化的心路历程,并预示着中国政治学话语体系的未来走势。从20世纪90年代引入至今,国家—社会关系理论在中国经历了阐释与反思、更替与创新、批判与再造等多次嬗变,这一变迁历程意味着具有中国特色的政治学话语体系正逐步走向成熟,但同时面临着思维上的西方意识形态渗透过密以及实践上的本土话语原创内生动力不足等现实困境。突破西方话语体系的学术桎梏与钳制、促进多重本土话语的深度互动与融合、强化中外理论资源的时空对话与交流是建构具有中国特色、中国风格、中国气派的新时代政治学话语体系的创新路径。

Remodeling of the osteoimmune microenvironment after biomaterials implantation in murine tibia: Single-cell transcriptome analysis

Osseointegration seems to be a foreign body reaction equilibrium due to the complicated interactions between the immune and skeletal systems.The heterogeneity of the osteoimmune microenvironment in the osseointegration of implant materials remains elusive.Here,a single-cell study involving 40043 cells is conducted,and a total of 10 distinct cell clusters are identified from five different groups.A preliminary description of the osteoimmune microenvironment revealed the diverse cellular heterogeneity and dynamic changes modulated by implant properties.The increased immature neutrophils,Ly6C+CCR2hi monocytes,and S100a8hi macrophages induce an aggressive inflammatory response and eventually lead to the formation of fibrous capsule around the stainless steel implant.The enrichment of mature neutrophils,FcgR1hi and differentiated immunomodulatory macrophages around the titanium implant indicates favorable osseointegration under moderate immune response.Neutrophil-depletion mice are conducted to explore the role of neutrophils in osseointegration.Neutrophils may improve bone formation by enhancing the recruitment of BMSCs via the CXCL12/CXCR3 signal axis.These findings contribute to a better knowledge of osteoimmunology and are valuable for the design and modification of‘osteoimmune-smart’biomaterials in the bone regeneration field.

社会组织党建是基层党建的重要组成部分,新时代对社会组织党建提出了新要求。从政党进步的动态视角来看,社会组织党建工作按照“嵌入社会”“融入社会”和“服务社会”三个目标梯次推进。然而当前党建工作中存在观念认知偏差、党社互动失调以及服务能力失衡等阻碍,影响了目标的达成。突破这些阻碍,要坚持以“党的全面领导”为基本纲领,充分运用社会组织协商机制,通过构筑“党社双强”的关系模式稳步提升组织的服务能力,并最终实现社会组织党建的进阶目标。随着服务能力不断增强,“治理社会”成为社会组织新时代党建的发展新趋向。

Splicing technology of Ti:sapphire crystals for a high-energy chirped pulse amplifier laser system

We develop a splicing technology of Ti:sapphire crystals for a high-energy chirped pulse amplifier laser system that can suppress the parasitic lasing to improve the amplification efficiency compared to a large-size single Ti:sapphire crystal amplifier. Theoretical investigations on the characteristics of the amplifier with four splicing Ti:sapphire crystals,such as parasitic-lasing suppression and amplification efficiencies, are carried out. Some possible issues resulting from this splicing technology, including spectral modulation, stretching or splitting of the temporal profile, and the sidelobe generation in the spatial domain(near field and far field), are also investigated. Moreover, the feasibility of the splicing technology is preliminarily demonstrated in an experiment with a small splicing Ti:sapphire crystals amplifier. The temporal profile and spatial distribution of the output pulse from the splicing Ti:sapphire crystal amplifier are discussed in relation to the output pulse from a single Ti:sapphire crystal amplifier.

AtMYBS1 negatively regulates heat tolerance by directly repressing the expression of MAX1 required for strigolactone biosynthesis in Arabidopsis

Heat stress caused by global warming requires the development of thermotolerant crops to sustain yield.It is necessary to understand the molecular mechanisms that underlie heat tolerance in plants.Strigolactones(SLs)are a class of carotenoid-derived phytohormones that regulate plant development and responses to abiotic or biotic stresses.Although SL biosynthesis and signaling processes are well established,genes that directly regulate SL biosynthesis have rarely been reported.Here,we report that the MYB-like transcription factor AtMYBS1/AtMYBL,whose gene expression is repressed by heat stress,functions as a negative regulator of heat tolerance by directly inhibiting SL biosynthesis in Arabidopsis.Overexpression of AtMYBS1 led to heat hypersensitivity,whereas atmybs1 mutants displayed increased heat tolerance.Expression of MAX1,a critical enzyme in SL biosynthesis,was induced by heat stress and downregulated in AtMYBS1-overexpression(OE)plants but upregulated in atmybs1 mutants.Overexpression of MAX1 in the AtMYBS1-OE background reversed the heat hypersensitivity of AtMYBS1-OE plants.Loss of MAX1 function in the atmyb1 background reversed the heat-tolerant phenotypes of atmyb1 mutants.Yeast one-hybrid assays,chromatin immunoprecipitation‒qPCR,and transgenic analyses demonstrated that AtMYBS1 directly represses MAX1 expression through the MYB binding site in the MAX1 promoter in vivo.The atmybs1d14 double mutant,like d14 mutants,exhibited hypersensitivity to heat stress,indicating the necessary role of SL signaling in AtMYBS1-regulated heat tolerance.Our findings provide new insights into the regulatory network of SL biosynthesis,facilitating the breeding of heat-tolerant crops to improve crop production in a warming world.
