Enhanced plasticity of spontaneous coagulation cast oxide ceramic green bodies

In the preparation of large-sized ceramics,the use of a green body with relatively high plasticity is crucial to minimize the risk of cracking during *** achieve this goal,glycerol and polyethylene glycol(PEG)were utilized as plasticizers in the shaping of green bodies of oxide ceramics through spontaneous coagulation casting(SCC).This study investigated the effects of plasticizers and particle sizes ranging from the submicron to nanoscale on the slurry viscosity,drying shrinkage of wet gels,and mechanical properties of green *** plasticity of the green bodies was assessed by measuring the impact toughness and flexural stress‒strain *** incorporating an appropriate plasticizer,the peak width of the flexural stress‒strain curve for dried green bodies from particles of different sizes was nearly twice that without plasticizers,and the impact toughness was enhanced by approximately 71%,34%,and 41%when the particle size decreased from the submicron scale to the nanoscale(0.45μm,0.18μm,and 50 nm,respectively).The drilling test revealed that there was nearly no cracking around the holes in the green bodies with *** plasticity mechanism of the green bodies was examined based on ultraviolet–visible(UV–Vis)spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).It was discovered that plasticizers might mitigate the brittleness of green bodies by adjusting the interactions between molecules and modifying the gel network properly.

Understanding Simulated Causes of Damaging Surface Winds in a Derecho-Producing Mesoscale Convective System near the East China Coast Based on Convection-Permitting Simulations

A mesoscale convective system(MCS) occurred over the East China coastal provinces and the East China Sea on 30April 2021, producing damaging surface winds near the coastal city Nantong with observed speeds reaching 45 m s^(–1). A simulation using the Weather Research and Forecasting model with a 1.5-km grid spacing generally reproduces the development and subsequent organization of this convective system into an MCS, with an eastward protruding bow segment over the sea. In the simulation, an east-west-oriented high wind swath is generated behind the gust front of the MCS. Descending dry rear-to-front inflows behind the bow and trailing gust front are found to feed the downdrafts in the main precipitation regions. The inflows help to establish spreading cold outflows and enhance the downdrafts through evaporative cooling. Meanwhile, front-to-rear inflows from the south are present, associated with severely rearward-tilted updrafts initially forming over the gust front. Such inflows descend behind(north of) the gust front, significantly enhancing downdrafts and near-surface winds within the cold pool. Consistently, calculated trajectories show that these parcels that contribute to the derecho originate primarily from the region ahead(south) of the east-west-oriented gust front, and dry southwesterly flows in the low-to-middle levels contribute to strong downdrafts within the MCS. Moreover, momentum budget analyses reveal that a large westward-directed horizontal pressure gradient force within the simulated cold pool produced rapid flow acceleration towards Nantong. The analyses enrich the understanding of damaging wind characteristics over coastal East China and will prove helpful to operational forecasters.

Sabatier principle guiding the design of cathode catalysts for Li-CO2 batteries

The Sabatier principle has been widely used for designing electrocatalysts for energy conversion applications,but it is rarely mentioned in the research of cathode catalyst of *** our work,the "volcanic" relationship between the catalytic activity and the adsorption energy of the catalyst to the intermediates is first demonstrated based on the first-principles calculation,which meets the Sabatier principle and can be used to design the cathode *** increases in the number of nitrogenvacancy in WN shift the d-band center and increase the interaction with the *** catalytic activity increases first and then decreases with the increase of adsorption energy,which was proved in the *** optimal catalyst for moderate adsorption of intermediate makes the thin LiaCO3distribute *** exhibits a median voltage difference of 0.68 V and an energy efficiency of 84.33% at20 μA cm-2with a limited capacity of 200 μA h cm-2.

Ni-Fe-based oxides are among the most promising catalysts developed to date for the bottleneck oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in water ***,understanding and mastering the synergy of Ni and Fe remain ***,we report that the synergy between Ni and Fe can be tailored by crystal dimensionality of Ni,Fe-contained Ruddlesden-Popper(RP)-type perovskites(La_(0.125)Sr_(0.875))n+1(Ni_(0.25)Fe_(0.75))nO3n+1(n=1,2,3),where the material with n=3 shows the best OER performance in alkaline *** X-ray absorption spectroscopy spectra before and after OER reveal that the material with n=3 shows enhanced Ni/Fe-O covalency to boost the electron transfer as compared to those with n=1 and n=*** experimental investigations demonstrate that the Fe ion is the active site and the Ni ion is the stable site in this system,where such unique synergy reaches the optimum at n=***,as n increases,the proportion of unstable rock-salt layers accordingly decreases and the leaching of ions(especially Sr^(2+))into the electrolyte is suppressed,which induces a decrease in the leaching of active Fe ions,ultimately leading to enhanced *** work provides a new avenue for rational catalyst design through the dimensional strategy.

Filterless Photosensors with Intrinsic Color Perception and Flexibility

Sensing materials possessing intrinsic color perception are indispensable prerequisites for the development of filterless photosensors, which could eliminate the need for complex device designs and avoid color distortion in post-processing. Traditional materials are constrained by complex processing methods and limited stability. Herein, a color-photosensitive array based on ionic liquid with selective photothermal conversion (ILSPC) has been developed for intrinsic color perception. Relying on the selective absorption, photothermal conversion, and thermosensitivity of ILSPC, a photo-thermo-electric sensing system has been constructed. Besides, the versatility of the two algorithms has been validated in color reconstruction and electrical signal prediction. As an exploration, the photosensitive array showcases promising color recognition capabilities, potentially propelling the evolution of flexible photosensors.

A highly sensitive multiple-mode optical thermometer designed in Eu^(2+/3+)and Li^(+)co-doped polymorphism compound LaSc_(3)(BO_(3))_(4)

Noncontact optical thermometers have attracted widespread attention,but existing problems such as single-mode and low-sensitivity thermometers still urgently need to be ***,a novel multiple-mode thermometer was designed for the polymorphism LaSc_(3)(BO_(3))_(4):Eu^(2+/3+),Li^(+).X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns revealed a slight transition betweenα-andβ-phases with the concentrations of the dopants,which is further proved by structure refinements and first-principles *** coexistence of Eu^(2+)and Eu^(3+)in the phosphors and their relative percentages were confirmed by X-ray absorption near-edge structure(XANES)*** from appropriate emissions from Eu^(2+)and Eu^(3+)without obvious energy transfer and their opposite changing trends with temperatures under 307 nm excitation,a triple-mode optical thermometer is obtained for this material within the temperature range of 150–450 *** highest sensitivities of 27.65,14.05,and 7.68%·K^(−1)are achieved based on two fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)modes of Eu^(2+)and Eu^(3+)(5d–4f/^(5)D_(0)–^(7)F_(2,4))and the fluorescence lifetime(FL)mode of Eu^(2+),*** the best of our knowledge,the former is almost the highest in Eu^(2+)and Eu^(3+)co-doped *** results indicate that this material may be used as an excellent multiple-mode optical thermometer.

Hsp90βis critical for the infection of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS)caused by the SFTS virus(SFTSV)is an emerging disease in East Asia with a fatality rate of up to 30%.However,the viral-host interaction of SFTSV remains largely *** heat-shock protein 90(Hsp90)family consists of highly conserved chaperones that fold and remodel proteins and has a broad impact on the infection of many ***,we showed that Hsp90 is an important host factor involved in SFTSV ***90 inhibitors significantly reduced SFTSV replication,viral protein expression,and the formation of inclusion bodies consisting of nonstructural proteins(NSs).Among viral proteins,NSs appeared to be the most reduced when Hsp90 inhibitors were used,and further analysis showed that their translation was ***-immunoprecipitation of NSs with four isomers of Hsp90 showed that Hsp90βspecifically interacted with *** of Hsp90βexpression also inhibited replication of *** results suggest that Hsp90βplays a critical role during SFTSV infection and could be a potential target for the development of drugs against SFTS.

Interlayer repair with porcine small intestinal submucosa versus internal repair with tragus cartilage in endoscopic tympanoplasty

Objective Endoscopic tympanoplasty includes various surgical methods,such as internal repair,interlayer repair,and external *** technique requires autologous materials,allografts,and xenografts,which are used to repair tympanic membrane(TM)*** obtain good results,appropriate surgical methods and repair materials should be *** study aims to assess the efficacy of repairing refractory TM perforations in the porcine small intestinal submucosa(SIS)during transcanal endoscopic type I *** A retrospective chart review was performed on patients who underwent TM perforation repair with porcine SIS and tragus cartilage between January 2022 and September 2022 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital,Zhejiang University School of *** size,tympanic status,pre-and postoperative symptoms,follow-up data,wound healing rates,and hearing improvement were *** Of the 115 patients included in the study,56 underwent interlayer repair with porcine SIS of the TM,and 59 patients underwent internal repair with tragus *** significant difference was found between the two groups at baseline in terms of age,sex,disease course,perforation side,tympanic status,underlying disease,or preoperative *** total postoperative effective rate of interlayer implantation with porcine SIS was 91.07%(51 patients),and that of internal implantation with tragus cartilage was 88.14%(52 patients).No significant difference was found in terms of the graft success rate between the two surgical methods(p=0.887).Postoperative pure tone auditory(PTA)and air-bone gap(ABG)density significantly increased in both groups compared with before surgery(p0.05).Compared to those in the internal implantation group,the patients in the interlayer group had a shorter operation duration(51.36±6.76 min vs.59.71±7.45 min,t=6.2
