Late Paleozoic to early Mesozoic volcanic-sedimentary history of the southeastern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Timing of uplift of the Inner Mongolia paleo-uplift

The Kulun region is located in the eastern Bainaimiao arc belt on the southeastern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB), adjacent to the North China Craton(NCC) to the south. This region records the closure of the PaleoAsian Ocean during the Paleozoic to early Mesozoic and is key to study the tectonic evolution of the northern margin of the *** conducted zircon U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotope analysis of volcanic-sedimentary and intrusive rocks in the Kulun region. The volcanic-sedimentary rocks were previously assigned an early Carboniferous age, but include volcanic rocks with ages of 267–266 Ma and sedimentary rocks with youngest detrital zircon age peaks of 265–244 Ma, which were intruded by a granite with an age of 242 Ma. This indicates that these rocks are actually middle Permian to Middle Triassic in age(267–242Ma) and correspond to the Qingfengshan and Liujiagou formations. Moreover, two volcanic rock samples have high εHf(t) values(+1.6 to +16.1) and relatively young two-stage Hf model ages(1095–327 Ma), indicating their sources associated with the CAOB. The age spectra and Hf isotopic characteristics of detrital zircons from the sedimentary rocks suggest that, during the middle Permian to Middle Triassic, the sedimentary provenance in the Kulun region was mainly the CAOB. However, by the Early Jurassic, the provenance changed to the NCC(i.e., the Inner Mongolia Paleo-uplift, IMPU). This result, combined with the development of a series of conglomerates on the northern margin of the NCC in the Late Triassic(i.e., Xingshikou, Xiaoyingzi,and Xiaohekou formations), indicates the Kulun region experienced an abrupt change in paleogeography during the Late Triassic, with the IMPU undergoing significant uplift and thus becoming the main sediment source in the Kulun region. Effect of order–disorder transition on thermodynamic and electronic properties of σ and χ phases in W–Re alloy: the first-principles calculation

Broadband low-frequency sound absorption of multifunctional composite metastructure

In this study, we fabricated multifunctional metastructures from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic composites using additive manufacturing technology. These metastructures are characterized by their lightweight, load-bearing capacity, and broadband low-frequency sound absorption properties. The metastructure consists of 36 unit cells, and non-local coupling mechanism was considered for designing the sound absorption performance. We developed an acoustic impedance theory tailored for the metastructure, facilitating an analysis of thermal and viscous dissipation mechanisms. It is proven theoretically and experimentally that the proposed composite metastructure can achieve a noise reduction with an average sound absorption coefficient greater than 0.9 across frequencies in the rage of 330–1500 Hz. We also studied the metastructure’s quasi-static and cyclic compression performance, confirming its efficient absorption capabilities after cyclic compression. The proposed design and additive manufacturing method for composite metastructures provides a novel pathway for creating lightweight, multifunctional structures with diverse applications, such as aerospace engineering.

Quantitative reconstruction of salinity and precipitation changes in Central Asia over the past 3200 years using diatom and pollen records of lacustrine sediment in Aibi Lake of SW Junggar Basin

The response of lake environments in arid Central Asia to climate change during the Late Holocene over the centennial to millennial timescales remains contentious. The reason that primarily paleoenvironmental proxies interpreting diverse and the scarcity of accurate quantitative reconstruction records. In this study， we employed diatoms and pollen records from lacustrine sediment in the Aibi Lake of SW Junggar Basin to quantitatively reconstruct salinity and watershed precipitation amounts while exploring the associated forcing mechanism. The results indicate that Aibi Lake salinity varied between 2 g/L and 47 g/L during the Late Holocene period， indicating a generally brackish environment， and corresponding to prevailing Tryblionella granulata diatom in the lake basin. Westerly-dominated annual precipitation varied between 250 mm and 320 mm during the Late Holocene period in the basin， exhibiting a generally semi-arid environment and prevailing desert steppe vegetation. The Aibi Lake has a low salinity of average value of ～15 g/L. It exhibits elevated precipitation (average value of ～280 mm) during the periods of the Roman Warm Period (2900-1990 cal yr BP)， Dark Age Cold Period (1570-1140 cal yr BP)， and Little Ice Age (590-120 cal yr BP). The reconstructed precipitation and salinity exhibit a periodicity of ～200 years， which is consistent with the cycle of phase changes of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and Total Solar Irradiance (TSI). This correlation suggests that variations in NOA and TSI significantly influence the precipitation and salinity changes in Central Asia over centennial to millennial timescales.

Encapsulating perovskite quantum dots into 3D COF for visible light-driven CO2 reduction

Lead halide perovskite quantum dots（LHP QDs） have been revealed to possess great potential in photocatalytic applications including CO2reduction, which however suffer from poor stability. Herein, a high crystalline hydrazine-linked three-dimensional（3D） covalent organic framework, USTB-17, was fabricated from the reaction between 12-connected building block and 4-connected 3,5,7-tetrakis（4-aldophenyl）-adamantane. Post-modification with Ni2+affords the metallic framework USTB-17（Ni）followed by sequential deposition of the CH3NH2PbI3（MAPbI3） perovskite QDs into its pores, generating the USTB-17（Ni）@MAPbI3composite. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis together with theoretical simulations and transmission electron microscopy discloses the crystalline nature of USTB-17, USTB-17（Ni）, and USTB-17（Ni）@MAPbI3with an unprecedented noninterpenetrated hpt topology. The close contact of QDs inside the COF pores with the Ni catalytic site locating at the pore surface of COF allows a rapid transfer of the photogenerated electrons in QDs to the Ni catalytic sites, enhancing the photocatalytic activity for CO2reduction. This endows USTB-17（Ni）@MAPbI3with efficient photocatalysis performance for photocatalytic CO2reduction with CO generation rate of 365 μmol g-1h-1and CO selectivity up to 96% under visible-light irradiation, 7 times higher than that of USTB-17（Ni）. After four cycles of reactions, the photocatalytic CO generation rate remains almost unchanged, demonstrating its excellent cycle stability.
