Synergistic effect of electrode defect regulation and Bi catalyst deposition on the performance of iron–chromium redox flow battery

Iron-chromium redox flow batteries (ICRFBs) possess advantages of high safety,long cycle time,and lowcost.Increasing Cr^(3+)/Cr^(2+)reaction activity is suggested as one of the most promising strategies to improve the performance and prolong the lifetime of ICRFBs.To improve the slow reaction kinetics of the negative electrode,a type of defected carbon cloth with Bismuth (Bi) catalyst introduction is prepared by defect engineering method and electrochemical deposition,which provided defect sites and active sites to catalyze the redox couple’s reaction of ICRFBs.Furthermore,this modified carbon cloth adsorbs Cr(Ⅲ)hydrate more easily,which has a more stable structure and can significantly improve the performance of ICRFBs.Both experimental analysis and theoretical calculation indicated that the modified electrode has excellent electrocatalytic ability,which can enhance the reaction rate of Cr^(3+)/Cr^(2+),improve capacity retention and stabilize cycling performance.The capacity degradation rate of an ICRFB single cell with the modified electrodes is just 0.23%per cycle at a current density of 140 m A/cm^(2).Additionally,the energy efficiency (EE) remains around 83%,which is 8.45%higher than that of the pristine electrode assembled battery under 60 cycles.This work supplies a simple method to obtain a high-performance electrode material for ICRFBs and makes it a practical solution to promote ICFRBs large-scale commercialization process.

Geminiviruses are a group of circular single-stranded DNA viruses that constitute the largest family of plant viruses. Many diseases resulting from geminivirus infections, such as maize streak disease, cassava mosaic disease, tomato yellow leaf curl disease and cotton leaf curl diseases, cause significant problems in terms of economic losses, posing a serious threat to global crop productivity (Hanley-Bowdoin et al., 2013;yang et al., 2019). As obligate intracellular parasites, geminiviruses cannot be controlled chemically. Conventional strategies to control geminiviruses rely heavily on the application of pesticides to limit insect vector populations, but it causes environmental concerns. To date, developing novel crop germplasms with durable disease resistance to geminiviruses is still the best strategy to manage viral infections due to its environmental friendliness. However, traditional breeding programs are time-intensive and labor-consuming processes, and transgene-based modern approaches by overexpressing the geminiviral proteins (e.g., the truncated form of the replication initiator protein) failed to confer resistance to geminiviruses due to activated virusinduced transgene silencing.

This study aims to investigate the unsteady aerodynamic performance of a high-speed train’s pantograph with respect to two different dome shapes and without dome under a20°yaw angle using a delayed detached eddy simulation method.Further,the influence of the dome shape on the simulation results is determined.The accuracy of the numerical method was validated by comparing a few of the numerical results with the wind tunnel test results,and high consistency was observed.An analysis of aerodynamic forces and flow structures around the pantograph was performed.The dome had significant influence on velocity field distribution surrounding the pantograph,particularly in the wake of flow region.Compared with the case where the dome was absent,vortex intensity around the pantograph increased after installing the dome.The existence of the bathtub-type dome resulted in greater flow field disturbance and vortex strength than the baffle-type dome.Moreover,the dome considerably affected time-averaged aerodynamic coefficients and their fluctuations,especially the bathtub-type dome.Additionally,the power spectral density of the unsteady aerodynamic coefficient of each pantograph component exhibited significant peaks and typical broadband distribution characteristics.

This study investigates the vibration transmission and suppression of a laminated composite panel with variable angle tow(VAT)designs and an attached inerter-based passive nonlinear energy sink.Based on analytical and numerical methodologies,the substructure technique is used to obtain a steady-state dynamic response and the results are verified by experimental and analytical methods.It is demonstrated that fiber orientation has a significant impact on the natural frequencies.The dynamic responses and energy transmission path characteristics are determined and evaluated by forced vibration analysis.The main vibration transmission paths inside the structure are displayed using power flow density vectors.It is demonstrated that the dynamic responses of the plate can be changed considerably by using various fiber placement schemes and passive suppression devices.In addition,it is indicated that the vibration transmission paths are significantly influenced by the tailored fiber angles for improved dynamic performance.Our investigation enhances the understanding of enhanced vibration suppression designs of variable-stiffness composite plates with attached passive devices.

The decision-making units(DMUs)in the modern service industries may produce desirable outputs and undesirable outputs.For the decision makers,some outputs may be more desired than others although all of them are desirable.Considering these characteristics,this work combines the data envelopment analysis(DEA)and the multiple attributes decision-making(MADM)method,to make a reasonable and comprehensive performance evaluation for DMUs.Specifically,three DEA-based models are modified to obtain more reasonable efficiency scores for DMUs.The MADM method is used to determine the weights of outputs based on the preference ratings within the outputs.The efficiency scores are then multiplied by the aggregated outputs quantities to obtain the comprehensive performance scores for evaluation.The effectiveness of the proposed models is demonstrated by extensive numerical experiments.

In order to study the effect of PVA fiber on the dynamic and static mechanical properties of low-temperature freeze-thaw concrete under the saturated surface dry state,different contents of PVA fiber were added to prepare concrete in this experiment.The concrete was subjected to compression,flexural and SHPB impact tests combined with scanning electron microscopy for microstructure analysis,after different times of freeze-thaw cycles in the temperature range of 20-70℃.The experimental results show that the compressive strength of the PVA fiber reinforced concrete first increases and then decreases after freeze and thaw cycles,and the compressive strength is positively correlated with the fiber content.The flexural strength gradually decreases with freeze-thaw cycles.The flexural strength of the concrete with 1.2 kg/m^(3) of PVA fiber presents the lowest strength loss after 45 freeze and thaw cycles,which is about 14%.The dynamic failure strength gradually decreases with the increase of freeze-thaw times,and the reduction amplitude decreases with the increase of PVA fiber content.The best impact resistance is achieved when the PVA fiber dosage is 1.2 kg/m^(3).

Leakage of private information including private key has become a threat to the security of computing systems. It has become a common security requirement that a cryptographic scheme should withstand various leakage attacks, including continuous leakage attacks. In order to obtain an Identity-based encryption(IBE) scheme which can keep its original security in the continuous leakage setting, we propose a new construction method of IBE scheme with Chosen-ciphertext attacks(CCA) security, which can tolerate continuous leakage attacks on many private keys of each identity, and whose security is proved based on the hardness of the classical Decisional bilinear Diffie-Hellman(DBDH) assumption in the standard model. The leakage parameter is independent of the plaintext space and has the constant size.

Background:Protein releases amino acids faster than starch releases glucose in digestive tract of pigs fed lowprotein(LP)diets.Poor synchronization of dietary glucose and amino acids supply leads to compromised nitrogen efficiency.Dietary starch patterns modulation may improve this situation.Methods:Growing barrows(29.7±2.0 kg)were randomly allotted into 5 dietary treatments with LP diets consisting of different purified starches.Treatments included:waxy corn starch(W LP),corn starch+waxy corn starch(C+W LP),corn starch(C LP),pea starch+waxy corn starch(P+W LP)and pea starch(P LP).In the experiment,growth performance,protein deposition,nutrient metabolism,and fecal microbial community of pigs were investigated.In vitro starch digestion was used for predicting the in vivo glucose response.Results:Dietary starch in vitro glucose release profile was determined by starch source and the ratio of amylopectin and amylose.C+W LP treatment showed decreased total nitrogen excretion and plasma citrulline concentration and improved plasma leptin concentration among treatments(P<0.05).Besides,the highest nitrogen apparent biological value,whole-body protein deposition and growth performance and lowest urinary nitrogen excretion were also observed in C+W LP treatment.Compared with the other groups,C+W LP and C LP showed increased plasma pyruvate,IGF-1,and lipase concentrations(P<0.05).The W LP group presented dramatically increased plasma alanine and urea nitrogen concentration and decreased aldolase and leptin concentrations(P<0.05).Dietary starch patterns did not make an impact on bacterial richness and diversity,but changed the taxonomic and functional structures of the microbial communities.Microbial protein fermentation product(isobutyrate and isovalerate)presented increased in P LP treatments compared with the other treatments(P<0.05).Conclusions:Dietary starch patterns modulation can regulate dietary glucose release profile,nutrient metabolism,protein turnover,and fecal microbial fermentation in pigs.The optimal dietary

Automated detection of military people based on the images in different environments plays an important role in accurately completing military missions.With the equipment gradually moving towards intelligence,unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)will be widely used for integrated reconnaissance/attack in the future.The lightweight and compact design of the small UAV allows it to travel through dense forests and other environments to capture images with its convenient mobility.However,as the camouflage has been designed to blend in with surroundings,which greatly reduces the probability of the target being discovered.Moreover,the lack of training data on camouflaged people detection will inhibit the training of a deep model.To address these problems,a novel semi-supervised camouflaged military people detection network is proposed to automatically detect the target from the images.In this paper,the camouflaged object detection dataset(COD10K)is first supplemented according to our mission requirements,then the edge attention is utilized to enhance the boundaries based on search identification network.Further,a semi-supervised learning strategy is presented to take advantage of the unlabeled data which can alleviate insufficient data and improve the detection accuracy.Experiments demonstrate that the proposed semi-supervised search identification network(Semi-SINet)performs well in camouflaged people detection compared with other object detection methods.
