The development of a facile and efficient polymerization to prepare cyclopentadiene-containing polymers is of vital importance and highly desired. In this work, a metal-free multicomponent polymerization of activated diyne, electrophilic styrene and isocyanide for the preparation of highly substituted poly(cyclopentadiene) was established. Soluble and thermally stable polymers with high molecular weights are obtained in high yields under mild conditions. By introducing the tetraphenylethene or triphenylamine moiety into polymer backbones, the resultant polymers show unique aggregation-induced emission(AIE)characteristics. Interestingly, AIE polymers can also be generated in situ from non-AIE monomers. Moreover, the prepared polymers can generate photopatterns to function as photoresists and can also serve as visualizing agents to selectively stain the lipid droplets in live cells. This efficient polymerization will open up enormous opportunities for preparing functional cyclopentadiene-containing polymers applicable in diverse areas.

Convergence analysis of the rectangular Morley element scheme for second order problem in arbitrary dimensions

We present the convergence analysis of the rectangular Morley element scheme utilised on the second order problem in arbitrary dimensions. Specifically, we prove that the convergence of the scheme is of O(h) order in energy norm and of O(h^2) order in L^2 norm on general d-rectangular triangulations. Moreover, when the triangulation is uniform, the convergence rate can be of O(h^2) order in energy norm, and the convergence rate in L^2 norm is still of O(h^2) order, which cannot be improved. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate our theoretical results.

Essential role of Msx1 in regulating anterior-posterior patterning of the secondary palate in mice

Development of the secondary palate displays molecular heterogeneity along the anterior-posterior axis;however, the underlying molecular mechanism remains largely unknown. MSX1 is an anteriorly expressed transcription repressor required for palate development. Here, we investigate the role of Msx1 in regional patterning of the secondary palate. The Wnt1-Cre-mediated expression of Msx1(Rosa Msx1^(Wnt1-Cre))throughout the palatal mesenchyme leads to cleft palate in mice, associated with aberrant cell proliferation and cell death. Osteogenic patterning of the hard palate in Rosa Msx1^(Wnt1-Cre)mice is severely impaired, as revealed by a marked reduction in palatine bone formation and decreased expression of the osteogenic regulator Sp7. Overexpression and knockout of Msx1 in mice show that the transcription repressor promotes the expression of the anterior palate-specific Alx1 but represses the expression of the medialposterior palate genes Barx1, Meox2, and Tbx22. Furthermore, Tbx22 constitutes a direct Msx1 target gene in the secondary palate, suggesting that Msx1 can directly repress the expression of medial-posterior specific genes. Finally, we determine that Sp7 is downstream of Tbx22 in palatal mesenchymal cells,suggesting that a Msx1/Tbx22/Sp7 axis participates in the regulation of palate development. Our findings unveil a novel role for Msx1 in regulating the anterior-posterior growth and patterning of the secondary palate.

Probiotics modulate the microbiota-gut-brain axis and improve memory deficits in aged SAMP8 mice

ProBiotic-4 is a probiotic preparation composed of Bifidobacterium lactis,Lactobacillus casei,Bifidobacterium bifidum,and Lactobacillus *** study aims to investigate the effects of ProBiotic-4 on the microbiota-gut-brain axis and cognitive deficits,and to explore the underlying molecular mechanism using senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8)***-4 was orally administered to 9-month-old SAMP8 mice for 12 *** observed that ProBiotic-4 significantly improved the memory deficits,cerebral neuronal and synaptic injuries,glial activation,and microbiota composition in the feces and brains of aged SAMP8 ***-4 substantially attenuated aging-related disruption of the intestinal barrier and blood-brain barrier,decreased interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-αat both mRNA and protein levels,reduced plasma and cerebral lipopolysaccharide(LPS)concentration,toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)expression,and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)nuclear translocation in the *** addition,not only did ProBiotic-4 significantly decreased the levels ofγ-H2 AX,8-hydroxydesoxyguanosine,and retinoic-acid-inducible gene-I(RIG-I),it also abrogated RIG-I multimerization in the *** findings suggest that targeting gut microbiota with probiotics may have a therapeutic potential for the deficits of the microbiota-gut-brain axis and cognitive function in aging,and that its mechanism is associated with inhibition of both TLR4-and RIG-I-mediated NF-κB signaling pathway and inflammatory responses.

In situ formation of multiple catalysts for enhancing the hydrogen storage of MgH_(2) by adding porous Ni_(3)ZnC_(0.7)/Ni loaded carbon nanotubes microspheres

MgH_(2) is considered one of the most promising hydrogen storage materials because of its safety,high efficiency,high hydrogen storage quantity and low cost *** some shortcomings are still existed:high operating temperature and poor hydrogen absorption dynamics,which limit its *** Ni_(3)ZnC_(0.7)/Ni loaded carbon nanotubes microspheres(NZC/Ni@CNT)is prepared by facile filtration and calcination *** the different amount of NZC/Ni@CNT(2.5,5.0 and 7.5 wt%)is added to the MgH_(2) by ball *** the three samples with different amount of NZC/Ni@CNT(2.5,5.0 and 7.5 wt%),the MgH_(2)-5 wt%NZC/Ni@CNT composite exhibits the best hydrogen storage *** testing,the MgH_(2)-5 wt%NZC/Ni@CNT begins to release hydrogen at around 110℃ and hydrogen absorption capacity reaches 2.34 wt%H_(2) at 80℃ within 60 ***,the composite can release about 5.36 wt%H_(2) at 300℃.In addition,hydrogen absorption and desorption activation energies of the MgH_(2)-5 wt%NZC/Ni@CNT composite are reduced to 37.28 and 84.22 KJ/mol H_(2),*** in situ generated Mg_(2)NiH_(4)/Mg_(2)Ni can serve as a"hydrogen pump"that plays the main role in providing more activation sites and hydrogen diffusion channels which promotes H_(2) dissociation during hydrogen absorption *** addition,the evenly dispersed Zn and MgZn2 in Mg and MgH_(2) could provide sites for Mg/MgH_(2) nucleation and hydrogen diffusion *** attempt clearly proved that the bimetallic carbide Ni_(3)ZnC_(0.7) is a effective additive for the hydrogen storage performances modification of MgH_(2),and the facile synthesis of the Ni_(3)ZnC_(0.7)/Ni@CNT can provide directions of better designing high performance carbide catalysts for improving MgH_(2).

A new scheme of climate-vegetation regionalization in the Hengduan Mountains Region

The Hengduan Mountains Region(HMR) is essential for the future ecological protection, clean energy production,Sichuan-Xizang and Yunnan-Xizang railways, and other major infrastructure projects in China. The distributions of climate and vegetation exhibit significant regional differentiation and vertical zonality due to the rugged longitudinal ranges and gorges and the complex disaster-prone environments in HMR. Therefore, it is urgent to develop the climate-vegetation regionalization in HMR to effectively satisfy the national requirements such as agricultural production and ecological protection, mountain disaster risk prevention, and major project construction. We here develop a new scheme of climate-vegetation regionalization with the latest demarcation outcome of HMR, the ground observation from 122 meteorological stations in HMR and its surrounding areas during 1990–2019, and the high-precision remote sensing data of land cover types. The new scheme first constructs the regionalization index system, fully considering the extraordinarily complicated geomorphic pattern of mountains and valleys, the scarcity of meteorological observations, and the remarkable differentiation of climate and vegetation in HMR. The system consists of three primary regionalization indices(i.e., days with daily average temperature steady above 10°C, aridity index, and main vegetation types, dividing the temperature zones, moisture regions, and vegetation subregions, respectively) and three auxiliary indices of the accumulated temperature above 10°C, and the temperatures in January and July. Then, the HMR is divided into five temperature zones, 20 moisture regions, and 55 vegetation subregions. Compared with previous regionalization schemes, the new scheme optimizes the climate spatial interpolation model of thin plate smoothing spline suitable for the unique terrain in HMR. Metal nanomaterials can facilitate microbial extracellular electron transfer(EET)in the electrochemically active ***,the role of nanomaterials/bacteria interaction in this process is still ***,we reported the single-cell voltammetric imaging of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 at the single-cell level to elucidate the metal-enhanced EET mechanism in vivo by the Fermi level-responsive graphene *** oxidation currents of~20 fA were observed from single native cells and gold nanoparticle(AuNP)-coated cells in linear sweep voltammetry *** the contrary,the oxidation potential was reduced by up to 100 mV after AuNP *** revealed the mechanism of AuNP-catalyzed direct EET decreasing the oxidation barrier between the outer membrane cytochromes and the *** method offered a promising strategy to understand the nanomaterials/bacteria interaction and guide the rational construction of EET-related microbial fuel cells.

A new evolutional model for institutional field knowledge flow network
