Highly selective adsorption of rhenium by amyloid-like protein material

Rhenium separation from molybdenum in molybdenite minerals and waste leachate has become an emerging challenge.Addressing this challenge,we prepared a set of protein-based alkylamine/alkylammonium salts complexes as extractants for selective uptake of rhenium from molybdenum,where the protein component turned into the insoluble amyloid-like structure when its internal disulfide bonds were reduced,namely phase-transition process.Among them,the phase-transited lysozyme and methyletrioctyleammonium chloride complex(PTL-N263)exhibited the most efficient adsorption at the alkaline condition for the electrostatic interaction between negatively charged metal ions with positively charged center(R_(4)N^(+))in N263,where negatively charged protein residues hindered the ion exchange of Cl^(-)in N263 for larger size Mo species(Mo_(7)O_(24)^(6-))than smaller size Re species(ReO^(4-)).The adsorption follows the Freundlich model and pseudo-second-order kinetics,which exhibits toplevel adsorption performance with a maximum adsorption capacity of 124 mg/g and a separation factor(β_(Re/Mo))of 2.78×10^(3)for Re.The adsorption capacity per unit area(57.2 mg/(g m^(2)))is 1.6–41 times higher than previously reported adsorbents,and the cost for adsorbing 1 g of Re(VII)is$1.07,indicating its industrial capability.This adsorption strategy can be applied to separating Re from Mo in binary solutions and industrial wastewater with other competing ions.

Assembly of two-dimensional(2D)metal–organic layers(MOLs)based on the hard and soft acid–base theorem represents an exquisite strategy for the construction of photocatalytic platforms in virtue of the highly exposed active sites,much improved mass transport,and greatly elevated stability.Herein,nanocages composed of MOLs are produced for the first time through a cosolvent approach utilizing zirconium-based UiO-66-(OH)2 as the structural precursor.To endow the catalytic activity for CO_(2) conversion,single atomic Co^(2+)sites are appended to the Zr-oxo nodes of the MOL cages,demonstrating a remarkable CO yield of 7.74 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) and operational stability of 97.1%product retention after five repeated cycles.Such an outstanding photocatalytic performance is mainly attributed to the unique nanocage morphology comprising enormous 2D nanosheets for augmented Co^(2+)exposure and the abundant surface hydroxyl groups for local CO_(2) enrichment.This work underlines the tailoring of both metal–organic framework(MOF)morphology and functionality to boost the turnover rate of photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR).

Cuprotosis,a new type of cell death,provides great opportunities for the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma,as nanocarriers of copper ions can induce cuprotosis and immunogenic death.Here,we studied an editor that enables production of a nanoparticle“storm”in oral squamous cell carcinoma,maximizing the toxic effect of these particles and reprogramming the tumor microenvironment;as a result,T cells and natural killer(NK)cells can infiltrate the tumor microenvironment to activate an antitumor immune response.On this basis,the editor can be combined with optical therapy to improve patient prognosis.In this study,the metal ratio was regulated in response to the nanocarrier of acid response type.Thus,in the presence of a specific copper ion content,the nanocarrier could change the permeability of the tumor cell membrane.Based on these results,the nanoparticles were cracked in an acidic environment and then released copper ions.Finally,the nanoparticles contributed to cuprotosis and immunogenic death.In addition,the editor could inhibit murine oral cancer 1(MOC1)tumors in C57BL/6 without toxicity.The rate of tumor growth inhibition was as high as approximately 80%.This strategy provides a new idea for immunotherapy.Moreover,it can improve the interaction between immunotherapy and the copper-induced death of oral squamous cell carcinoma.Above all,this study will provide a new opportunity for the effective treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Low-temperature NH_(3) abatement via selective oxidation over a supported copper catalyst with high Cu^(+) abundance

Selective catalytic NH_(3)-to-N_(2) oxidation(NH_(3)-SCO)is highly promising for abating NH_(3) emissions slipped from stationary flue gas after-treatment devices.Its practical application,however,is limited by the non-availability of low-cost catalysts with high activity and N_(2) selectivity.Here,using defect-rich nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(NCNT-AW)as the support,we developed a highly active and durable copper-based NH_(3)-SCO catalyst with a high abundance of cuprous(Cu^(+))sites.The obtained Cu/NCNT-AW catalyst demonstrated outstanding activity with a T_(50)(i.***.the temperature to reach 50% NH_(3) conversion)of 174℃ in the NH_(3)-SCO reaction,which outperformed not only the Cu catalyst supported on N-free O-functionalized CNTs(OCNTs)or NCNT with less surface defects,but also those most active Cu catalysts in open literature.Reaction kinetics measurements and temperature-programmed surface reactions using NH_(3)as a probe molecule revealed that the NH_(3)-SCO reaction on Cu/NCNT-AW follows an internal selective catalytic reaction(i-SCR)route involving nitric oxide(NO)as a key intermediate.According to mechanistic investigations by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,Raman spectroscopy,and X-ray absorption spectroscopy,the superior NH_(3)-SCO performance of Cu/NCNT-AW originated from a synergy of surface defects and N-dopants.Specifically,surface defects promoted the anchoring of Cu O nanoparticles on N-containing sites and,thereby,enabled efficient electron transfer from N to Cu O,increasing significantly the fraction of SCR-active Cu^(+)sites in the catalyst.This study puts forward a new idea for manipulating and utilizing the interplay of defects and N-dopants on carbon surfaces to fabricate Cu^(+)-rich Cu catalysts for efficient abatement of slip NH_(3)emissions via selective oxidation.

Response of runoff and its components to climate change in the Manas River of the Tian Shan Mountains

A warming-wetting climate trend has led to increased runoff in most watersheds in the Tian Shan Mountains over the past few decades.However,it remains unclear how runoff components,that is,rainfall runoff(Rrain),snowmelt runoff(Rsnow),and glacier meltwater(Rglacier),responded to historical climate change and how they will evolve under future climate change scenarios.Here,we used a modified Hydrologiska Byrans Vattenbalansavdelning(HBV)model and a detrending method to quantify the impact of precipitation and temperature changes on runoff components in the largest river(Manas River)on the northern slope of the Tian Shan Mountains from 1982 to 2015.A multivariate calibration strategy,including snow cover,glacier area,and runoff was implemented to constrain model parameters associated with runoff components.The downscaled outputs of 12 general circulation models(GCMs)from the Sixth Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6)were also used to force the modified HBV model to project the response of runoff and its components to future(2016-2100)climate change under three common socio-economic pathways(SSP126,SSP245,and SSP585).The results indicate that Rrain dominates mean annual runoff with a proportion of 42%,followed by Rsnow(37%)and Rglacier(21%).In terms of inter-annual variation,Rrain and Rsnow show increasing trends(0.93(p0.05)mm per year),while Rglacier exhibits an insignificant(p>0.05)decreasing trend(-0.12 mm per year),leading to an increasing trend in total runoff(1.12 mm per year,p>0.05).The attribution analysis indicates that changes in precipitation and temperature contribute 8.16 and 10.37 mm,respectively,to the increase in runoff at the mean annual scale.Climate wetting(increased precipitation)increases Rrain(5.03 mm)and Rsnow(3.19 mm)but has a limited effect on Rglacier(-0.06 mm),while warming increases Rrain(10.69 mm)and Rglacier(5.79 mm)but decreases Rsnow(-6.12 mm).The negative effect of glacier shrinkage on Rglacier has outweighed the positive effect of warming on Rglaciers resulti

An observed nocturnal ozone transport event in the Sichuan Basin,Southwestern China

The ozone(O_(3))pollution in China drew lots of attention in recent years,and the Sichuan Basin(SCB)was one of the regions confronting worsening O_(3)pollution problem.Many previous studies have shown that regional transport is an important contributor to O_(3)pollution.However,very few features of the O_(3)profile during transport have been reported,especially in the border regions between different administrative divisions.In this study,we conducted tethered balloon soundings in SCB during the summer of 2020 and captured a nocturnal O_(3)transport event during the campaign.Vertically,the O_(3)transport occurred in the bottom of the residual layer,between 200 and 500 m above ground level.Horizontally,the transport pathway was directed from southeast to northwest based on the analysis of the wind field and air mass trajectories.The effect of transport in the residual layer on the surface O_(3)concentration was related to the spatial distribution of O_(3).For cities with high O_(3)concentrations in the upwind region,the transport process would bring clean air masses and abate pollution.For downwind lightly polluted cities,the transport process would slow down the decreasing or even increase the surface O_(3)concentration during the night.We provided observational facts on the profile features of a transboundary O_(3)transport event between two provincial administrative divisions,which implicated the importance of joint prevention and control measures.However,the sounding parameters were limited and the quantitative analysis was preliminary,more integrated,and thorough studies of this topic were called for in the future.

It has long been asserted that failure to recover from central nervous system diseases is due to the system's intricate structure and the regenerative incapacity of adult neurons.Yet over recent decades,numerous studies have established that endogenous neurogenesis occurs in the adult central nervous system,including humans'.This has challenged the long-held scientific consensus that the number of adult neurons remains constant,and that new central nervous system neurons cannot be created or renewed.Herein,we present a comprehensive overview of the alterations and regulatory mechanisms of endogenous neurogenesis following central nervous system injury,and describe novel treatment strategies that to rget endogenous neurogenesis and newborn neurons in the treatment of central nervous system injury.Central nervous system injury frequently results in alterations of endogenous neurogenesis,encompassing the activation,proliferation,ectopic migration,diffe rentiation,and functional integration of endogenous neural stem cells.Because of the unfavorable local microenvironment,most activated neural stem cells diffe rentiate into glial cells rather than neurons.Consequently,the injury-induced endogenous neurogenesis response is inadequate for repairing impaired neural function.Scientists have attempted to enhance endogenous neurogenesis using various strategies,including using neurotrophic factors,bioactive materials,and cell reprogramming techniques.Used alone or in combination,these therapeutic strategies can promote targeted migration of neural stem cells to an injured area,ensure their survival and diffe rentiation into mature functional neurons,and facilitate their integration into the neural circuit.Thus can integration re plenish lost neurons after central nervous system injury,by improving the local microenvironment.By regulating each phase of endogenous neurogenesis,endogenous neural stem cells can be harnessed to promote effective regeneration of newborn neurons.This offers a novel approach for treating central ne

A self-organization formation configuration based assignment probability and collision detection

The formation control of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles(multi-UAVs)has always been a research hotspot.Based on the straight line trajectory,a multi-UAVs target point assignment algorithm based on the assignment probability is proposed to achieve the shortest overall formation path of multi-UAVs with low complexity and reduce the energy consumption.In order to avoid the collision between UAVs in the formation process,the concept of safety ball is introduced,and the collision detection based on continuous motion of two time slots and the lane occupation detection after motion is proposed to avoid collision between UAVs.Based on the idea of game theory,a method of UAV motion form setting based on the maximization of interests is proposed,including the maximization of self-interest and the maximization of formation interest is proposed,so that multi-UAVs can complete the formation task quickly and reasonably with the linear trajectory assigned in advance.Finally,through simulation verification,the multi-UAVs target assignment algorithm based on the assignment probability proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the total path length,and the UAV motion selection method based on the maximization interests can effectively complete the task formation.

Terminal attitude selection method of missile attack aircraft

The appropriate terminal attitude of missile is important to improve the damage effectiveness of fragmentation warhead against aircraft targets.In this paper,three missile terminal attitude selection methods are proposed to solve the problem of terminal attitude selection in different situations according to their respective evaluation indexes.The MVE-based method uses the damage probability of each detonation point around the aircraft at a given attitude of missile to calculate the Mean Volume of Effectiveness(MVE)at the corresponding attitude,and then uses the MVE for different attitudes to select the terminal strike attitude.The detonation position-based method addresses the case where the missile detonation position can be assessed in advance.Given the effects of missile guidance errors and fuze activation position errors,Monte Carlo simulations are used to calculate the damage probability of aircraft with different strike attitudes,from which the terminal strike attitude is selected.The BP-ANN model-based method uses the constructed Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network(BP-ANN)model instead of simulation to calculate the evaluation indexes in the corresponding cases of MVE-based method and Detonation position-based method,which can improve the efficiency of attitude selection.Simulations are conducted for different scenarios to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
