Vacuoles are organelles in plant cells that play pivotal roles in growth and developmental *** main functions of vacuoles include maintaining cell acidity and turgor pressure,regulating the storage and transport of substances,controlling the transport and localization of key proteins through the endocytic and lysosomal-vacuolar transport pathways,and responding to biotic and abiotic ***,proteins localized either in the tonoplast(vacuolar membrane)or inside the vacuole lumen are critical for fruit *** this review,we summarize and discuss some of the emerging functions and regulatory mechanisms associated with plant vacuoles,including vacuole biogenesis,vacuole functions in plant growth and development,fruit quality,and plant-microbe interaction,as well as some innovative research technology that has driven advances in the ***,the functions of plant vacuoles are important for plant growth and fruit *** investigation of vacuole functions in plants is of great scientific significance and has potential applications in agriculture.

Background and Aims:Liver imaging reporting and data system(LI-RADS)provides standardized lexicon and categorization for diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,there is limited knowledge about the effect of LI-RADS *** prospectively explored whether the systematic training of LI-RADS v2018 on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)can effectively improve the diagnostic performances of different radiologists for ***:A total of 20 visiting radiologists and the multiparametric MRI of 70 hepatic observations in 61 patients with high risk of HCC were included in this *** LI-RADS v2018 training procedure included three times of thematic lectures(each lasting for 2.5 h)given by a professor specialized in imaging diagnosis of liver,with an interval of a *** each seminar,the radiologists had a month to adopt the algorithm into their daily *** diagnostic performances and interobserver agreements of these radiologists adopting the algorithm for HCC diagnosis before and after training were ***:A total of 20 radiologists(male/female,12/8;with an average age of 36.75±4.99 years)were *** training,the interobserver agreements for the LI-RADS category for all radiologists(p=0.005)were *** sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,and coincidence rate of all radiologists for HCC diagnosis before and after training were 43%vs.54%,86%vs.88%,74%vs.81%,62%vs.67%,and 65%vs.71%,*** diagnostic performances of all radiologists(p<0.001)showed improvement after ***:The systematic training of LI-RADS can effectively improve the diagnostic performances of radiologists with different experiences for HCC.

Free-standing porous carbon electrodes derived from wood for high-performance Li-O2 battery applications

Porous carbon materials are widely used in particulate forms for energy applications such as fuel cells, batteries, and （super） capacitors. To better hold the particles together, polymeric additives are utilized as binders, which not only increase the weight and volume of the devices, but also cause adverse side effects. We developed a wood-derived, free-standing porous carbon electrode and successfully applied it as a cathode in Li-O2 batteries. The spontaneously formed hierarchical porous structure exhibits good performance in facilitating the mass transport and hosting the discharge products of Li202. Heteroatom （N） doping further improves the catalytic activity of the carbon cathode with lower overpotential and higher capacity. Overall, the Li-O2 battery based on the new carbon cathode affords a stable energy efficiency of 65% and can be operated for 20 cycles at a discharge depth of 70%. The wood-derived free-standing carbon represents a new, unique structure for energy applications.

Rock has mechanical characteristics and a fracture damage mechanism that are closely related to its loading history and loading path. The mechanical properties, fracture damage features, acoustic emission(AE) characteristics, and strain energy evolution of the Beishan shallow-layer granite used in triaxial unloading tests were investigated in this study. Three groups of triaxial tests, namely, conventional triaxial compression test(Group Ⅰ), maintaining deviatoric stress synchronously unloading confining pressure test(Group Ⅱ), and loading axial pressure synchronously unloading confining pressure test(Group Ⅲ), were carried out for the cylindrical granite specimens. AE monitoring device was utilized in these tests to determine the degree to which the AE waves and AE events reflected the degree of rock damage. In addition, the crack stress thresholds of the specimens were determined by volumetric strain method and AE parameter method, and strain energy evolution of the rock was explored in different damage stages. The results show that the shallow-layer granite experiences brittle failure during the triaxial loading test and unloading test, and the rock has a greater damage degree during the unloading test. The crack stress thresholds of these samples vary greatly between tests, but the threshold ratios of all samples are similar in the same crack damage stage. The Mogi-Coulomb strength criterion can better describe the unloading failure strength of the rock. The evolution of the AE parameter characteristics and strain energy differs between the specimens used in different stress path tests. The dissipative strain energy is the largest in Group Ⅱ and the smallest in Group Ⅰ.

Objective: To study the effect of contralateral acupuncture(CAT) at acupoints of Quchi(LI 11) and Zusanli(ST 36) on the unaffected limbs of ischemic stroke patients with left hemiplegia based on regional homogeneity(ReHo) indices. Methods: Ten ischemic stroke patients with left hemiplegia received CAT on right side at LI 11 and ST 36. Functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) was performed before and after acupuncture. A ReHo analytical method was used to compare brain responses of patients before and after CAT operated by REST software. Results: The stimulation at both LI 11 and ST 36 on the unaffected limbs produced significantly different neural activities. CAT elicited increased ReHo values at the right precentral gyrus and superior frontal gyrus, decreased ReHo value at right superior parietal lobule, left fusiform gyrus and left supplementary motor area. Conclusions: Acupuncture at one side could stimulate bilateral regions. CAT could evoke the gyrus which was possibly related to motor recovery from stroke. A promising indicator of neurobiological deficiencies could be represented by ReHo values in post-stroke patients.

Due to the limited permeability and high methane content of the majority of China’s coal seams,significant coal mining gas disasters frequently *** is an urgent need to artificially improve the permeability of coalbed methane(CBM)reservoirs,enhance the recovery efficiency of CBM and prevent mine gas *** a novel coal rock fracture technology,the CO_(2) phase transition jet(CPTJ)has been widely used due to its advantages of safety and high fragmentation *** this study,to ascertain the effects of the pressure of CPTJ fracturing,the influence of its jet pressure on cracked coal rock was revealed,and its effect on CBM extraction was *** this research,the law of CPTJ pressure decay with time was investigated using experimental and theoretical *** on the results,the displacement and discrete fracture network law of CPTJ fracturing coal rock under different jet pressure conditions were studied using particle flow code numerical ***,field experiments were conducted at the Shamushu coal mine to assess the efficiency of CPTJ in enhancing CBM *** results showed that the pressure of the CPTJ decreased exponentially with time and significantly influenced the number and expansion size of cracks that broke coal rock but not their direction of *** technology can effectively increase the number of connected microscopic pores and fractures in CBM reservoirs,strongly increase the CBM drainage flow rate by between 5.2 and 9.8 times,and significantly reduce the CBM drainage decay coefficient by between 73.58%and 88.24%.

Relationship between multifunctionality and rural sustainable development: Insights from 129 counties of the Sichuan Province, China

Rural areas are multifunctional and often have production,living,and ecological *** high-quality and balanced development of these three functions is key to sustainable rural development(SRD).Thus,the evaluation of SRD based on rural multifunctionality is of immense *** study clarifies the rela‐tionship between multifunctionality and sustainable rural *** evaluation index system with six sub-components was established for calculating the *** addition,we included 129 counties from the Sich‐uan Province in our case study,and used this index system to analyze the characteristics of rural multifunc‐tionality for evaluating the *** results showed indisputable evidence of multifunctional *** the county level,rural multifunctionality faces the challenge of insufficient and uneven development,particu‐larly in production *** spatial differences existed in rural multifunctional development,and the suburban counties generally performed ***,a mutually reinforcing relationship between pro‐duction,living,and ecological functions was established;however,there was still a significant gap in realizing *** results emphasize the necessity of a differentiated SRD strategy that should be formulated and imple‐mented based on rural multifunctionality differentiation *** study offers useful guidance for realizing rural multifunctional and sustainable development.

Synthesis of tetrahedrally coordinated CoO for higher alcohol synthesis directly from syngas

Higher alcohol synthesis directly from syngas is highly desirable as one of the efficient non-petroleum energy conversion ***^(0)–CoO catalysts showed great potential for this reaction,but the alcohol selectivity still needs to be improved and the crystal structure effect of Co^(0)on catalytic behaviors lacks ***,a series of tetrahedrally coordinated Co^(0)polymorphs were prepared by a thermal decomposition method,which consisted of wurtzite CoO and zinc blende CoO with varied *** diluting with SiO_(2),the catalyst showed excellent performance for higher alcohol synthesis with ROH selectivity of 45.8%and higher alcohol distribution of 84.1 wt%under the CO conversion of 38.0%.With increasing the content of wurtzite CoO,the Co^(0)/Co^(2+)ratio gradually increased in the spent catalysts,while the proportion of highly active hexagonal close packed cobalt in Co^(0)decreased,leading to first decreased then increased CO ***,the higher content of zinc blende CoO in fresh catalyst facilitated the retention of more Co^(2+)sites in spent catalysts,promoting the ROH selectivity but slightly decreasing the distribution of higher *** catalyst with 40%wurtzite CoO obtained the optimal performance with a space time yield toward higher alcohols of 7.9 mmol·gcat^(-1)·h^(-1).

The aluminum based MOFs compound, MIL-96(Al), has been studied as a luminescence sensor by incorporating of Eu3+ ions, which renders the compound strong red-light emission. The as-synthesized MIL-96(Al):Eu3+ nanocrystals exhibit water dispersibility and environmental stability, which are general requirement for an ideal sensing material. The MIL-96(Al):Eu3+ nanocrystals show excellent selective detection ability on Fe3+ ions in aqueous solution with value of low detection limit 20 μM. Meanwhile, it also exhibits excellent selective detection ability on CrO42- and Cr2O72- in aqueous solution with value of low detection limit 10 and 22 μM, respectively. The results of this study show that MIL-96(Al):Eu3+ nanocrystals could be used as a multi-responsive luminescent senor for Fe3+ and Cr(Ⅵ) species in aqueous solution. The possible luminescence quenching mechanism has also been discussed.
