Preparation of Tris（2-aminoethyl）amine-Cross-Linked Cyclodextrin-Based Porous Nanospheres and Their Application as Drug Delivery Systems

Cyclodextrins （CDs） show functionality, biocompatibility, and host-guest inclusion capacity with a variety of molecules. These unique properties offer great potential for the exploitation of CDs as drug delivery systems. An easy, green, and effective synthetic approach was described to develop CD-based porous nanospheres （CDPNSs） with a size distribution from 100 to 400 nm. A new cross-linker tris（2-aminoethyl）amine was used to cross-link modified β-CD at room temperature. The resulting CD-based polymers （CDPs） were reshaped from a random mor- phology into a spherical shape during a dialysis process, and CDPNSs were obtained. The morphologies of CDPs and CDPNSs were observed with scanning electron microscopy. The average diameter and the size distribution of CDPNSs were determined by dynamic light scattering. The structures of the resulting products were characterized by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, solid-state 13C CP/MAS NMR spectro- scopy, and X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, a study was conducted on drug loading and in vitro release behavior of CDPNSs, which was monitored by ultraviolet spectroscopy. The prepared CDPNSs show the potential as drug de- livery systems.

Based on the idea of backstepping design, distributedcoordinated tracking problems under directed topology are discussedfor multiple Euler-Lagrange （EL） systems. The dynamicleader case is considered. First, with the parameter-linearity property,a distributed coordinated adaptive control scheme is proposedfor EL systems in the presence of parametric ***, subject to nonlinear uncertainties and external disturbances,an improved adaptive control algorithm is developed by usingneural-network （NN） approximation of nonlinear functions. Bothproposed algorithms can make tracking errors for each followerultimately bounded. The closed-loop systems are investigated byusing the combination of graph theory, Lyapunov theory, and BarbalatLemma. Numerical examples and comparisons with othermethods are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposedcontrol strategies.

Permitted emissions of major air pollutants from coal-fired power plants in China based on best available control technology

Based on the activity level and technical information of coal-fired power-generating units(CFPGU)obtained in China from 2011 to 2015,we,1)analyzed the time and spatial distribution of SO_(2) and NOx emission performance of CFPGUs in China;2)studied the impact of installed capacity,sulfur content of coal combustion,and unit operation starting time on CFPGUs’pollutant emission performance;and 3)proposed the SO_(2) and NOx emission performance standards for coal-fired power plants based on the best available control *** results show that:1)the larger the capacity of a CFPGU,the higher the control level and the faster the improvement;2)the CFPGUs in the developed eastern regions had significantly lower SO_(2) and NOx emission performance values than those in other provinces due to better economic and technological development and higher environmental management levels;3)the SO_(2) and NOx emission performance of the Chinese thermal power industry was significantly affected by the single-unit capacity,coal sulfur content,and unit operation starting time;and 4)based on the achievability analysis of best available pollution control technology,we believe that the CFPGUs’SO_(2) emission performance reference values should be 0.34 g/kWh for active units in general areas,0.8 g/kWh for active units in high-sulfur coal areas,and 0.13 g/kWh for newly built units and active units in key *** addition,the NOx emission performance reference values should be 0.35 g/kWh for active units in general areas and 0.175 g/kWh for new units and active units in key areas.

Structure prediction methods have been widely used as a state-of-the-art tool for structure searches and materials discovery, leading to many theory-driven breakthroughs on discoveries of new materials. These methods generally involve the exploration of the potential energy surfaces of materials through various structure sampling techniques and optimization algorithms in conjunction with quantum mechanical calculations. By taking advantage of the general feature of materials potential energy surface and swarm-intelligence-based global optimization algorithms, we have developed the CALYPSO method for structure prediction, which has been widely used in fields as diverse as computational physics, chemistry, and materials science. In this review, we provide the basic theory of the CALYPSO method, placing particular emphasis on the principles of its various structure dealing methods. We also survey the current challenges faced by structure prediction methods and include an outlook on the future developments of CALYPSO in the conclusions.

The atomistic structures of solid–solid interfaces are of fundamental interests for understanding physical properties of interfacial materials. However, determination of interface structures faces a substantial challenge, both experimentally and theoretically. Here, we propose an efficient method for predicting interface structures via the generalization of our in-house developed CALYPSO method for structure prediction. We devised a lattice match toolkit that allows us to automatically search for the optimal latticematched superlattice for construction of the interface structures. In addition, bonding constraints(e.g.,constraints on interatomic distances and coordination numbers of atoms) are imposed to generate better starting interface structures by taking advantages of the known bonding environment derived from the stable bulk phases. The interface structures evolve by following interfacially confined swarm intelligence algorithm, which is known to be efficient for exploration of potential energy surface. The method was validated by correctly predicting a number of known interface structures with only given information of two parent solids. The application of the developed method leads to prediction of two unknown grain boundary(GB) structures(r-GB and p-GB) of rutile TiO_2 ∑5(2 1 0) under an O reducing atmosphere that contained Ti^(3+)as the result of O defects. Further calculations revealed that the intrinsic band gap of p-GB is reduced to 0.7 eV owing to substantial broadening of the Ti-3 d interfacial levels from Ti^(3+)*** results demonstrated that introduction of grain boundaries is an effective strategy to engineer the electronic properties and thus enhance the visible-light photoactivity of TiO_2.

Herein,a new nanozyme/natural enzyme hybrid biosensor was established for ultrasensitive l-glutamic acid(L-Glu)*** Fe_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles with peroxidase-like activity and stability was used as a nanozyme and carrier for immobilizing l-Glutamate oxidase(GLOD)through Schiffff base reaction to construct a chem-enzyme cascade *** resultant Fe_(3)O_(4)-GOLD exhibited a wide linear range(10−500μM)and a low detection limit of 6.03μM for L-Glu ***,the Fe_(3)O_(4)-GOLD exhibited excellent pH stability,thermal stability,reusability and storage *** repeated nine cycles,Fe_(3)O_(4)-GOLD still retained 70%of its initial ***,Fe_(3)O_(4)-GOLD maintained 50%of its initial activity after storage for 20 days,while free GLOD only retained 20%of its initial *** strategy of integrating biomimetic Fe 3 O4 and natural enzymes for cascade catalysis makes it possible to design an efficient and stable chemo-enzyme composite catalysts,which are promising for applications in biosensing and biomimetic catalysis.

Using creditor litigation data from China,we investigate whether creditors can participate in corporate governance when agency conflict between shareholders and creditors is *** comparing firms that have experienced creditor lawsuits(litigation firms)with those that have not(non-litigation firms),we find that litigation firms have lower pay-performance sensitivity before lawsuits,suggesting that these firms have weaker corporate *** result is consistent with our expectation that creditors participate in corporate governance by introducing external monitoring when internal monitoring,dominated by shareholders,is *** also find that the association is stronger for firms with more severe shareholder-creditor agency ***,creditor litigation is strongly related to low pay-performance sensitivity when the external legal environment is *** results remain robust to different model specifications and after addressing endogeneity problems.
