Efficacy of Lubeikangru formulation in mice with hyperplasia of the mammary glands induced by estrogen and progesterone

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the protective effects of Lubeikangru formula(LF) on hyperplasia of the mammary glands(HMG) induced by estrogen and progesterone in ***: Female mice were divided randomly into five groups: normal, model, tamoxifen(3 mg/kg),Rupixiao(900 mg/kg) and LF(900 mg/kg). All mice except those in the normal group were treated sequentially with estradiol and progesterone to induce HMG. From the tenth day of induction, mice in normal and model groups received distilled water and mice in the other groups were given the corresponding drugs by gavage, once a day, for 30 *** the end of treatment, the mammary glands, ovaries, hypothalamus, and serum was collected for whole-mount and hematoxylin and eosin(HE)staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISAs), or western ***: Whole-mount and HE staining of mammary glands showed that LF rescued(at least in part) the hyperplasic morphology of the mammary glands, and the number of branch points decreased after LF treatment(P < 0.05). ELISAs revealed that levels of estrogen and progesterone were decreased following LF treatment, whereas levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone were increased in serum and tissues. Western blotting confirmed that LF treatment led to a reduction in expression of phosphorylated(p)-Erk, p-p38 and p-c-Jun N-terminal kinase. LF was also confirmed to be safe by acute-toxicity ***: LF can protect the mammary glands of mice from estrogen-and progesterone-induced hyperplasia by adjusting hormone levels and regulating the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway.

The influence of biochar-released dissolved organic matter(BDOM)on the transcription of gene(DEG)in Pseudomonas stutzeri and Shewanella putrefacien during sulfamethoxazole(SMX)and chloramphenicol(CAP)biodegradation under visible light was investigated in this *** results indicated that BDOM components would be nutrients for bacterial amplification and growth under the culture conditions of xenon lamp irradiation and avoiding light,especially BDOM from low ***,visible light irradiation would improve the saturated fatty acid by stimulating the cell membrane of the microorganism,thus promoting the biodegradation of antibiotics through altering *** and *** reoxidative and catabolism processes and significantly inhabiting the copy number of their ***,the upregulated genes and enzymes related to SMX and CAP-metabolic and catabolic processes were enriched,which were involved in the pathways of biodegradation,further improving biodegradation *** particular,interaction network analysis between the top 100 dominant functional genes from *** and *** and the molecular types of BDOM,e.g.,CHO,CHON,and CHOS(p<0.05),indicated that the genes of molecular function showed a high positive or negative correlation with the CHO type of *** results revealed that the CHO type of BDOM affected the functional genes of molecular function,cellular component,and biological process from *** and ***,influencing the biodegradation of SMX and *** study provided an basis for BDOM playing a role in antibiotic removal from the aqueous solution using biochar combined with photobiodegradation.

An analytical poroelastic model for laboratorial mechanical testing of the articular cartilage (AC)

The articular cartilage （AC） can be seen as a biphasic poroelastic material. The cartilage deformation under compression mainly leads to an interstitial fluid flow in the porous solid phase. In this paper, an analytical poroelastic model for the AC under laboratorial mechanical testing is developed. The solutions of interstitial fluid pressure and velocity are obtained. The results show the following facts. （i） Both the pressure and fluid velocity amplitudes are proportional to the strain loading amplitude. （ii） Both the amplitudes of pore fluid pressure and velocity in the AC depend more on the loading amplitude than on the frequency. Thus, in order to obtain the considerable fluid stimulus for the AC cell responses, the most effective way is to increase the loading amplitude rather than the frequency. （iii） Both the interstitiM fluid pressure and velocity are strongly affected by permeability variations. This model can be used in experimental tests of the parameters of AC or other poroelastic materials, and in research of mechanotransduction and injury mechanism involved interstitial fluid flow.

A Model of Perfect Pediatric Vaccination of Dengue with Delay and Optimal Control

A delayed mathematical model of Dengue dynamical transmission between vector mosquitoes and human, incorporating a control strategy of perfect pediatric vaccination is proposed in this paper. By some analytical skills, we obtain the existence of disease-free equilibria and endemic equilibrium, the necessary conditions of global asymptotical stability about two disease-free equilibria. Further, by Pontryagin’s maximum principle, we obtain the optimal control of the disease. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to verify the correctness of the theoretical results and feasibility of the control measure.

Wireless passive flexible accelerometer fabricated using micro-electro-mechanical system technology for bending structure surfaces

We propose an inductor-capacitor(LC)wireless passive flexible accelerometer,which eliminates the difficulty in measuring the acceleration on the surface of a bending *** accelerometer is composed of a flexible polyimide(PI)substrate and a planar spiral inductance coil(thickness 300 nm),made using micro-electro-mechanical system(MEMS)*** can be bent or folded at will,and can be attached firmly to the surface of objects with a bending *** principle of radio frequency wireless transmission is used to measure the acceleration signal by changing the distance between the accelerometer and the *** with other accelerometers with a lead wire,the accelerometer can prevent the lead from falling off in the course of vibration,thereby prolonging its service *** establishment of an experimental platform,when the distance between the antenna and accelerometer was 5 mm,the characterization of the surface of bending structures demonstrated the sensing capabilities of the accelerometer at accelerations of 20-100 m/*** results indicate that the acceleration and peak-to-peak output voltage were nearly linear,with accelerometer sensitivity reaching 0.27 mV/(m·s-2).Moreover,the maximum error of the accelerometer was less than 0.037%.

Membrane-camouflaged supramolecular nanoparticles for co-delivery of chemotherapeutic and molecular-targeted drugs with siRNA against patient-derived pancreatic carcinoma

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most lethal malignancies worldwide. The combination of the first-line standard agent gemcitabine(GEM) with the molecular-targeted drug erlotinib(Er) has emerged as a promising strategy for pancreatic cancer treatment. However, the clinical benefit from this combination is still far from satisfactory due to the unfavorable drug antagonism and the fibrotic tumor microenvironment. Herein, we propose a membrane-camouflaged dual stimuliresponsive delivery system for the co-delivery of GEM and Er into pancreatic cancer cells and tissues to block the antagonism, as well as reshapes profibrotic tumor microenvironment via simultaneous delivery of small interference RNA(siRNA) for synergistic pancreatic cancer treatment. This “all-in-one”delivery system exhibits sensitive GSH and pH-dependent drug release profiles and enhances the inhibitory effects on the proliferation and migration of tumor cells in vitro. Excitingly, the systemic injection of such a biomimetic drug co-delivery system not only resulted in superior inhibitory effects against orthotopic pancreatic tumor and patient-derived tumor(PDX), but also greatly extended the survival rate of tumor-bearing mice. Our findings provide a promising therapeutic strategy against pancreatic cancer through the enhanced synergistic effect of target therapy, chemotherapy and anti-fibrotic therapy, which represents an appealing way for pancreatic cancer treatment.

Phosphorus Recovery as Struvite from the Supernatant of Anaerobic Digestion in Wastewater Treatment Plant

Phosphorus is an irreplaceable and depletable element. Furthermore, it has an almost one-way circulation on earth, so it is necessary to close the phosphorus cycle loop. Phosphorus could be recovered as struvite, which is a good slow-released fertilizer for agriculture. The supernatant of anaerobic digestion used to treat sludge from wastewater treatment plant is one main source from which phosphorus can be recovered. Studies have proven that phosphorus recovery from digester supematant is a feasible choice to preserve phosphorus rock technically and economically. A modified ＂PHOSNIX＂ P-recovery process was applied under the operating conditions of a 9.0 pH value and a 1.8 mg： P ratio with the influent of the centrate coming from the sludge centrifuge of the Songjiang Wastewater Treatment Plant in Shanghai. More than 80% influent phosphorus was recovered as struvite. Crystal products with good purity and low heavy metal content were gained. The largest crystal had a length of up to 0.26 mm. It was found in our study that the reaction time did not play an important role in crystal growth. Therefore, the optimization of the reaction condition for crystal growth should be examined in future study.
