Summary What is already known about this topic?The global population is predicted to reach 8 billion by the end of 2022,which can delay the progress and exacerbate the challenges of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),especially the goal of“Zero Hunger.”What is added by this report?During the next 15 years,it is predicted that the world’s population will increase from 8 billion to 9 billion people.Although food insecurity is anticipated to decrease over the next three decades for most of the world,food insecurity is anticipated to increase in Africa.Accelerating population growth is projected to lead to larger percentages of infants with low birth weight and of children under 5 years old with stunted growth.What are the implications for public health practice?Rapid population growth will make it more difficult to achieve the SDGs for ending hunger and ensuring good health and well-being.It is important to develop foresight and adopt proactive planning that is guided by careful demographic analysis.

What is already known about this topic?Along with the quick change of society and health transformation,as well as the continued expansion of urbanization,the health risk and its variation of migrants in China would became more complicated.What is added by this report?Although a decreasing net migration flow trend was presented from 2015 to 2050,an increasing pace of aging and younger-age trend of migrants would pose serious challenges for population health in China.Deepening aging trend of migrants contributes to the increment of the disease burden of non-communicable diseases(NCDs)and disabilities,and the upward trend of young-age migrant patients with infectious diseases remain a threat to the future intervention and prevention of infectious diseases.What are the implications for public health practice?Health policies to eliminate the adverse effects of migration on population health should pay more attention to meet the health care demands of highly vulnerable migrant populations,such as very older and very young migrants.

Background Family environments can shape children’s personalities and social networks,rendering distinguishing adverse childhood experiences(ACEs)from family and society essential,but related evidence remains limited.Aims This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the correlations between intrafamilial and social ACEs,their associations with depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment and the(education-moderated)mediating role of social ACEs.Methods Data for this cross-sectional study were from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study.Nine intrafamilial(0,1,2,3,and 4 or more)and three social(0,1,and 2 or more)ACEs were identified.Depressive symptoms were assessed using the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale.Global cognition,including episodic memory and mental intactness,was calculated as z scores.Binary and ordered logistic regressions,generalised linear models with Gaussian family and identity link,and mediation analysis were used.Results 13435 participants aged 59.0(51.0–66.0)were included.Compared with participants with no intrafamilial ACEs,those with 1,2,3,and 4 or more intrafamilial ACEs tended to develop more social ACEs,with odds ratios(ORs)of 1.55(95%confidence interval(CI):1.36 to 1.76),2.36(95%CI:2.08 to 2.68),3.46(95%CI:3.02 to 3.96)and 6.10(95%CI:5.30 to 7.02),respectively.Both intrafamilial and social ACEs were associated with depressive symptoms(OR>3 for four or more intrafamilial ACEs and two or more social ACEs)and global cognition(β=−0.26 for four or more intrafamilial ACEs andβ=−0.29 for two or more social ACEs).Social ACEs mediated the associations of intrafamilial ACEs with depressive symptoms and global cognition by 12.3%and 13.1%,respectively.Furthermore,as education levels increased,the impact of intrafamilial ACEs on depressive symptoms was increasingly mediated through social ACEs,while the mediating role of social ACEs between intrafamilial ACEs and cognitive impairment gradually diminished.Conclusions Improving children’s social environments an

The electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is a half-reaction of water-splitting for hydrogen generation,yet suffers from its sluggish kinetics and large overpotential.It is highly desirable to develop efficient and stable OER electrocatalysts for the advancement of water-splitting.Herein,by means of density functional theory(DFT)calculations,we systematically investigated a series of two-dimensional(2D)dual-atom catalysts(DACs)on a novel synthesized covalent organic framework(COF)material as potential efficient catalysts toward the OER.The designed 6 homonuclear(2TM-COF)and 15 heteronuclear(TM1TM2-COF)DACs all exhibit good stability.There is a strong scaling relationship between the adsorption Gibbs free energies of HO*and HOO*intermediates,and the OER overpotential(η^(OER))volcano curve can be plotted as a function ofΔGO*−ΔGHO*.RhIr-COF shows the best OER catalytic activity with aη^(OER)value of 0.29 V,followed by CoNi-COF(0.33 V),RuRh-COF(0.34 V),and NiIrCOF(0.37 V).These four OER DACs exhibit lower onset potential and higher current density than that of the IrO2(110)benchmark catalyst.Aided by the descriptor identification study,the Bader charge that correlated with the Pauling electronegativity of the embedded dual-metal atoms was found to be the most important factor governing the catalytic activity of the OER.Our work highlights a potentially efficient class of 2D COF-based DACs toward the OER.

3D Biocompatible Polyester Blend Scaffolds Containing Degradable Calcium Citrate for Bone Tissue Engineering

In this study,a novel porous 3D composite scaffold based on the biodegradable Poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL),Polylactide Acid(PLA)and Calcium Citrate(CC)was developed via polymer blends and thermal-induced phase separation.The chemical structure,crystalline structure and micromorphology as well as mechanical strength of the scaffolds were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray Diffraction(XRD),Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)and tensile tests.The results show that the obtained composite scaffold present a suitable bone-like porous structure and sufficient mechanical strength.Furthermore,the release of calcium ions in Simulated Body Fluid(SBF)indicates that the composite material can provide a stable calcium-ion environment and maintain a constant pH value during the soaking process.The cell proliferation results from CCK-8 and light microscopy show that MG63 cells exhibit excellent adhesion and proliferation on the stent.At the same time,animal implantation histology confirms that the composite scaffolds have good biocompatibility in vivo.The scaffold material has greatly potential application value in the field of bone tissue engineering.

The late Mesozoic antimony(Sb)mineralization belt in South China hosts a large portion of the world’s Sb reserves.However,the source and mineralization processes of these Sb deposits remain controversial.Here,we measured mercury(Hg)concentrations and isotopic compositions of stibnite in the Banpo Sb-only and Woxi Sbpolymetallic ore deposits,as well as associated rocks in the Yangtze Block in order to constrain the metal sources and ore formation processes in the South China Sb mineralization belt.Stibnite samples from both deposits exhibit significant enrichment in Hg(4.23–50.6 ppm)and have higher δ^(202)Hg values(−0.47‰to 2.03‰)than the studied Precambrian basement rocks(−1.42‰to 0.59‰),Paleozoic sedimentary rocks(−2.40‰to−0.32‰),and other natural Hg reserves(e.g.,marine and continental systems).This indicates that significant mass-dependent fractionation of Hg isotopes occurred during hydrothermal processes.Negative to slightly positive Δ^(199)Hg values of−0.17‰to 0.02‰were obtained for stibnite from the studied deposits,similar to values for the Precambrian basement rocks,but different from those of the Paleozoic sedimentary rocks and data previously reported for mantle materials.This suggests that Precambrian basement rocks were the source of Hg and associated metals.Our data and the tectonic evolution of South China indicate that late Mesozoic asthenospheric upwelling,in response to the Paleo-Pacific oceanic slab foundering,generated heat that drove the circulation of fluids in the basement and crustal basinal rocks.These fluids leached Sb,Hg,and other metals from the Precambrian basement rocks and formed the world-class Sb mineralization belt in South China.
