Plant Diversity Performance After Natural Restoration in Reclaimed Deyeuxia angustifolia Wetland

Deyeuxia angustifolia wetlands were widely distributed in the Sanjiang Plain in Northeast China. Due to strong demand for food production, large-area wetlands were reclaimed to farmlands, which threatened regional ecological security greatly. Since the 21 th century, returning farmlands to wetlands was widely adopted for natural restoration in the Sangjiang Plain. As the first reflection of wetland restoration, vegetation succession of restored D. angustifolia wetlands should be fully assessed. In this study, vegetation investigation was carried out in three restored D. angustifolia wetlands with 5, 8 and 12 yr restoration, respectively. Meanwhile, a natural D. angustifolia wetland was selected as reference wetland. Results showed that community composition changed greatly and there was visible community succession. Community dominant species changed from composite to gramineae as restoration time *** first, weeds community appeared in the restored wetlands, especially the xerophytes developed to the pioneer species rapidly. And then, mesophytes and wetland species became the dominant species in the restored wetlands. Finally, wetland species, especially D. angustifolia, occupied the dominant position of restored community. Shannon-wiener index(H) and Simpson index(D) both decreased to close to natural D. angustifolia wetlands. Compared with natural D. angustifolia wetland, species composition and diversity in restored wetlands were more complex and higher. As restoration time increasing, there were not significant differences between community characteristics of restored wetlands and natural wetland. All these suggested that vegetation in reclaimed D. angustifolia wetland could be restored naturally, but its restored period is 10 yr at least. From another angle, it is important to protect current natural wetlands.

There is now general concern about widespread antibiotic resistance,and growing evidence indicates that gut microbiota is critical in providing antibiotic *** is an important pollinator;the incidence of antibiotic resistance genes in honeybee gut causes potential risks to not only its own health but also to public and animal health,for its potential disseminator role,thus receiving more attention from the *** analysis results reveal that the gut of honeybee serves as a reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes,probably due to antibiotics application history in beekeeping and horizontal gene transfer from the highly polluted *** antibiotic resistance genes accumulate in the honeybee gut and could be transferred to the pathogen,even having the potential to spread during pollination,tending,social interactions,*** acquired resistance traits may cause fitness reduction in bacteria whereas facilitating adaptive evolution as *** review outlines the current knowledge about the resistome in honeybee gut and emphasizes its role in antibiotic resistance dissemination.

Formation and evolution of the tertiary carbonate reefs in the Madura Strait Basin of Indonesia

Analysis of 2 D seismic data over 4 500 km in length from the Madura Strait Basin in the East Java Sea reveals seismic re?ection characteristics of reefs and associated sedimentary bodies, including asymmetrical or symmetrical dome re?ections, slope progradational re?ections, chaotic re?ections and discontinuous strong re?ections inside the reef, which onlap the ?ank of the reef. It is concluded that the developmental paleo-environment of most reefs is mainly conducive to shallow marine carbonate platform facies and platform margin facies, based on well core data, variations in seismic facies and strata *** formation and evolution of all reefs are primarily in?uenced by the tectonic framework of the Madura Strait Basin. Platform margin reefs are principally controlled by two types of structures: one is a series of E-W trending Paleogene normal faults, and the other is an E-W trending Neogene inversion structures. In addition, wave actions, tidal currents and other ocean currents play an accelerated role in sorting, rounding and redeposition for the accumulation and evolution of reefs. Tertiary reefs in the MSB can be divided into four types: 1) an open platform coral reef of Late Oligocene to Early Miocene, 2) a platform margin coral reef controlled by normal faults in Late Oligocene to Early Miocene, 3) a platform margin Globigerina moundreef controlled by a "hidden" inversion structure in Early Pliocene, and 4) a platform margin Globigerina mound-reef controlled by thrust faults in the early Pliocene. Patterns of the formation and evolution of reefs are also suggested.

In this study,a natural cotton thread immunoassay device combined with gold nanorod（GNR） reporter probe is developed for the rapid,sensitive and quantitative electrochemical determination of human ferritin,a lung cancer related *** ferritin as an analyte and a pair of monoclonal antibodies are used to demonstrate the proof-of-concept on the cotton thread immunoassay *** enhancement of the sensitivity is achieved by using gold nanorod as an electroactive report probe compared with a traditional gold nanoparticle（GNP） report *** device was capable of measuring 1.58 ng/mL ferritin in 30 min by anodic stripping voltammetry（ASV） testing,which meet the requirement for clinical diagnosis.

Abnormally increased levels of iron in the brain trigger cascade amplification in Alzheimer＇s dis- ease patients, resulting in neuronal death. This study investigated whether components extracted from the Chinese herbs epimedium herb, milkvetch root and kudzuvine root could relieve the abnormal expression of iron metabolism-related protein in Alzheimer＇s disease patients. An APPs,~JPSI^E9 double transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer＇s disease was used. The intragas- tric administration of compounds from epimedium herb, milkvetch root and kudzuvine root improved pathological alterations such as neuronal edema, increased the number of neurons, downregulated divalent metal transporter 1 expression, upregulated ferroportin 1 expression, and inhibited iron overload in the cerebral cortex of mice with Alzheimer＇s disease. These com- pounds reduced iron overload-induced impairment of the central nervous system, indicating a new strategy for developing novel drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer＇s disease.

Dear Editor,Emerging infectious diseases(EIDs)severely challenge global public health and the social *** entering the 21st century,our world has witnessed such frequent outbreaks of EIDs as SARS,MERS,influenza,***,the COVID-19,caused by SARS-CoV-2,has resulted in over 775,000,000 infections worldwide and at least 7,000,000 deaths thus far(https://***/),triggering a severe global economic ***,EIDs not only have catastrophic consequences for human society but also pose dreadful threats to *** instance,the outbreak of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia hit the Tibetan antelopes in 2012,resulting in about 16%population shrinkage(Yu et al.,2013),and the cross-host transmission of canine distemper to giant pandas and Amur tigers poses a substantial obstacle to their population recovery(Jin et al.,2017;Wang et al.,2023).Therefore,the prevention and control of EIDs are serious concerns in wildlife conservation and the construction of ecological civilization.

A novel sensitizer with imidazole zinc porphyrin as electron donor has been synthesized. The structure has been characterized by UV-Vis, elemental analyses and 1 H ***-Vis and fluorescence spectra show that it has good light absorbing properties in the range of visible light and suggests that it has potential applications in dye-sensitized solar cells.

AIM： To study the effects of hepatic ischemia/ reperfusion （I/R） injury on store-operated calcium channel （SOC） currents （Isoc） in freshly isolated rat Kupffer cells, and the effects of Ca^2＋ channel blockers, 2-aminoethoxydiphenyl borate （2-APB）, SK＆F96365, econazole and miconazole, on Isoc in isolated rat Kupffer cells after hepatic I/R injury.METHODS： The model of rat hepatic I/R injury was established. Whole-cell patch-clamp techniques were performed to investigate the effects of 2-APB, SK＆F96365, econazole and miconazole on Isoc in isolated rat Kupffer cells after hepatic I/R injury.RESULTS： I/R injury significantly increased Isoc from -80.4±25.2pA to -159.5±34.5pA （^bp 〈 0.01, n = 30）. 2-APB （20, 40, 60, 80, 100 pmol/L）, SK＆F96365 （5, 10, 20, 40, 50 pmol/L）, econazole （0.1, 0.3, 1, 3, 10 μmol/L） and miconazole （0.1, 0.3, 1, 3, 10 μmol/L） inhibited Isoc in a concentration-dependent manner with IC50 of 37.41 μmol/L （n = 8）, 5.89 μmol/L （n = 11）, 0.21 μmol/L （n = 13）, and 0.28 μmol/L （n = 10）. The peak value of Isoc in the I-V relationship was decreased by the blockers in different concentrations, but the reverse potential of Isoc was not transformed. CONCLUSION： SOC is the main channel for the influx of Ca^2＋ during hepatic I/R injuries. Calcium channel blockers, 2-APB, SK＆F96365, econazole and miconazole,have obviously protective effects on I/R injury, probably by inhibiting Isoc in Kupffer cells and preventing the activation of Kupffer cells.

Inflammatory response plays a critical role in myocardial infarction(MI)*** neutrophil apoptosis and subsequent macrophage ingestion can result in inflammation resolution and initiate regeneration,while the therapeutic strategy that simulates and enhances this natural process has not been ***,we constructed engineered neutrophil apoptotic bodies(eNABs)to simulate natural neutrophil apoptosis,which regulated inflammation response and enhanced MI *** eNABs were fabricated by combining natural neutrophil apoptotic body membrane which has excellent inflammation-tropism and immunoregulatory properties,and mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with hexyl 5-aminolevulinate hydrochloride(HAL).The eNABs actively targeted to macrophages and the encapsulated HAL simultaneously initiated the biosynthesis pathway of heme to produce anti-inflammatory bilirubin after intracellular release,thereby further enhancing the anti-inflammation *** in vivo studies,the eNABs efficiently modulated inflammation responses in the infarcted region to ameliorate cardiac *** study demonstrates an effective biomimetic construction strategy to regulate macrophage functions for MI repair.
