Simulation and experiment investigations on fabrication of Fe-based amorphous powders by a novel atomization process equipped with assisted gas nozzles

Based on computational fluid dynamics method,the effect of atomization gas pressure on the atomization efficiency of Laval nozzle was studied,and then a discrete phase model was established and combined with industrial trials to study the effect of a new type of assisted gas nozzles(AGNs)on powder size distribution and amorphous powder *** results show that increasing the atomization pressure can effectively improve the gas velocity for the Laval nozzle;however,it will decrease the aspiration pressure,and the optimal atomization pressure is 2.0 *** with this,after the application of AGNs with the inlet velocity of 200 m s^(-1),assisted gas jet can increase the velocity of overall droplets in the break-up and solidification area by 40 m s^(-1) and the maximum cooling rate is increased from 1.9×10^(4) to 2.3×10^(4) K s^(-1).The predicted particle behavior is demonstrated by the industrial trails,that is,after the application of AGNs,the median diameter of powders d50 is decreased from 28.42 to 25.56 lm,the sphericity is increased from 0.874 to 0.927,the fraction of amorphous powders is increased from 90.4% to 99.4%,and only the coercivity is increased slightly due to the accumulation of internal *** is illustrated that the AGNs can improve the yield of fine amorphous powders,which is beneficial to providing high-performance raw powders for additive manufacturing technology.

An Artificial Intelligence‑Assisted Flexible and Wearable Mechanoluminescent Strain Sensor System

The ability to unlock the interplay between the activity and stability of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)represents an important endeavor toward creating robust ORR catalysts for efficient fuel ***,we report an effective strategy to concurrent enhance the activity and stability of ORR catalysts via constructing atomically dispersed Fe-Mn dualmetal sites on N-doped carbon(denoted(FeMn-DA)-N-C)for both anion-exchange membrane fuel cells(AEMFC)and proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFC).The(FeMn-DA)-N-C catalysts possess ample dual-metal atoms consisting of adjacent Fe-N_(4)and Mn-N_(4)sites on the carbon surface,yielded via a facile doping-adsorption-pyrolysis *** introduction of Mn carries several advantageous attributes:increasing the number of active sites,effectively anchoring Fe due to effective electron transfer to Mn(revealed by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and density-functional theory(DFT),thus preventing the aggregation of Fe),and effectively circumventing the occurrence of Fenton reaction,thus reducing the consumption of ***(FeMn-DA)-N-C catalysts showcase half-wave potentials of 0.92 and 0.82 V in 0.1 M KOH and 0.1 M HClO_(4),respectively,as well as outstanding *** manifested by DFT calculations,the introduction of Mn affects the electronic structure of Fe,down-shifts the d-band Fe active center,accelerates the desorption of OH groups,and creates higher limiting *** AEMFC and PEMFC with(FeMn-DA)-N-C as the cathode catalyst display high power densities of 1060 and 746 mW cm^(-2),respectively,underscoring their promising potential for practical *** study highlights the robustness of designing Fe-containing dual-atom ORR catalysts to promote both activity and stability for energy conversion and storage materials and devices.

Detection of lung adenocarcinoma using magnetic beads based matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry serum protein profiling

Background Recently, due to the rapid development of proteomic techniques, great advance has been made in many scientific fields. We aimed to use magnetic beads （liquid chip） based matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry （MALDI-TOF-MS） technology to screen distinctive biomarkers for lung adenocarcinoma （adCA）, and to establish the diagnostic protein profiles. Methods Using weak cation exchange magnetic beads （MB-WCX） to isolate and purify low molecular weight proteins from sera of 35 lung adCA, 46 benign lung diseases （BLDs） and 44 healthy individuals. The resulting spectra gained by anchor chip-MALDI-TOF-MS were analyzed by ClinProTools and a pattern recognition genetic algorithm （GA）. Results In the working mass range of 800-10 000 Da, 99 distinctive peaks were resolved in lung adCA versus BLDs, while 101 peaks were resolved in lung adCA versus healthy persons. The profile gained by GA that could distinguish adCA from BLDs was comprised of 4053.88, 4209.57 and 3883.33 Da with sensitivity of 80%, specificity of 93%, while that could separate adCA from healthy control was comprised of 2951.83 Da and 4209.73 Da with sensitivity of 94%, specificity of 95%. The sensitivity provided by carcinoembryonic antigen （CEA） in this experiment was significantly lower than our discriminatory profiles （P 〈0.005）. We further identified a eukaryotic peptide chain release factor GTP-binding subunit （eRF3b）（4209 Da） and a complement C3f （1865 Da） that may serve as candidate biomarkers for lung adCA. Conclusion Magnetic beads based MALDI-TOF-MS technology can rapidly and effectively screen distinctive proteins/polypeptides from sera of lung adCA patients and controls, which has potential value for establishing a new diagnostic method for lung adCA.

Development of Gravity Theories in the View of TRAPPIST-1e

Contrary to the solar system, most exoplanet systems detected hitherto are close-in and compact. One typical system is TRAPPIST-1, which has seven nearly co-planar terrestrial planets all within the orbit of Mercury,including three in the habitable zone. To evaluate the differences in developing sophisticated gravity theories from the solar system, we use N-body integrations to simulate ephemeris and reproduce some important astronomy phenomena observed on the potentially habitable planet TRAPPIST-1e. Retrograde motions of other planets last1–2 orders of magnitude shorter than in the solar system, but occur much more frequently. Transit events of all inner planets can be observed steadily. Except for Kepler's first law, which is hard to notice for low eccentricities of planets, the other two laws can then be precisely verified in 102days, because the areas swept by planets vary by?0.01% and the observed semimajor axes and periods result in constants with theoretical and observation accuracies both ?2%. However, the mean motion correlation implies that the Great Inequality is not always apparent between one pair of planets like Jupiter and Saturn. Furthermore, general relativity can hardly be discovered because it gives rise to perihelion precession of inner planets only ～0.1% of gravity precession, dozens of times smaller than Mercury. Our results support the possibility of developing part of gravity theories by potential exo-civilizations in compact systems like TRAPPIST-1.

Study of differential proteins in lung adenocarcinoma using laser capture microdissection combined with liquid chip-mass spectrometry technology

Background In recent years the proportion of lung adenocarcinoma （adCA） which occurs in lung cancer patients has increased. Using laser capture microdissection （LCM） combined with liquid chip-mass spectrometry technology, we aimed to screen lung cancer biomarkers by studying the proteins in the tissues of adCA. Methods We used LCM and magnetic bead based weak cation exchange （MB-WCX） to separate and purify the homogeneous adCA cells and normal cells from six cases of fresh adCA and matched normal lung tissues. The proteins were analyzed and identified by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-fight mass spectrometry （MALDI-OF-MS）. We screened for the best pattern using a radial basic function neural network algorithm. Results About 2.895x10s and 1.584x10s cells were satisfactorily obtained by LCM from six cases of fresh lung adCA and matched normal lung tissues, respectively. The homogeneities of cell population were estimated to be over 95% as determined by microscopic visualization. Comparing the differentially expressed proteins between the lung adCA and the matched normal lung group, 221 and 239 protein peaks, respectively, were found in the mass-to-charge ration （M/Z） between 800 Da and 10 000 Da. According to ttest, the expression of two protein peaks at 7521.5 M/Zand 5079.3 M/Z had the largest difference between tissues. They were more weakly expressed in the lung adCA compared to the matched normal group. The two protein peaks could accurately separate the lung adCA from the matched normal lung group by the sample distribution chart. A discriminatory pattern which can separate the lung adCA from the matched normal lung tissue consisting of three proteins at 3358.1 M/Z, 5079.3 M/Z and 7521.5 M/Z was established by a radial basic function neural network algorithm with a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 100%.
