Effect of adding Lactobacillus plantarum and soluble carbohydrates to swine manure on odorous compounds, chemical composition and indigenous flora

Manure odor, which results in the increasing complaints and lawsuits, has increased the tension among swine producers and surrounding residents. The effects of Lactobacillus plantarum and different rates of soluble carbohydrates additions to swine manure on odorous compounds, chemical compounds and indigenous flora were evaluated. Additions were calculated on dried manure weight basis. Variables monitored included ammonia （NH3）, hydrogen sulfide （H2S）, odor offensiveness, pH, ammonium nitrogen（NH4^＋-N）, volatile fatty acids （VFAs）, urease and indigenous flora. The results indicated that the combination of L. plantarum and soluble carbohydrates dramatically reduced manure pH. Lower pH resulted in the reduction of NH3 volatilization （34.6%-92.4%, P〈0.01）, the increases of H2S （P〈 0.05） and NH4^＋-N （5.3%-17.5%, P〈0.05）. In addition, L. plantarum and soluble carbohydrates additions significantly reduced odor offensiveness, those VFAs related to malodor indicators（valeric acids, 12.3%-47.7%, P〈 0.05; iso-valeric, 3.5%-23.8%） and the main microorganisms responsible for odor production, with the number of Eubacteria in swine manure reducing by 4.9%, 11.6%, 17.4%, 34.1% and 32.2% respectively.

Background: The efficacy and necessity of middle hepatic vein(MHV) reconstruction in adult-to-adult right lobe living donor liver transplantation(LDLT) remain controversial. The present study aimed to evaluate the survival beneficiary of MHV reconstructions in LDLT. Methods: We compared the clinical outcomes of liver recipients with MHV reconstruction( n = 101) and without MHV reconstruction( n = 43) who underwent LDLT using right lobe grafts at our institution from January 2006 to May 2017. Results: The overall survival(OS) rate of recipients with MHV reconstruction was significantly higher than that of those without MHV reconstruction in liver transplantation( P = 0.022; 5-yr OS: 76.2% vs 58.1%). The survival of two segments(segments 5 and 8) hepatic vein reconstruction was better than that of the only one segment(segment 5 or segment 8) hepatic vein reconstruction( P = 0.034; 5-yr OS: 83.6% vs 67.4%). The survival of using two straight vascular reconstructions was better than that using Y-shaped vascular reconstruction in liver transplantation with two segments hepatic vein reconstruction( P = 0.020; 5-yr OS: 100% vs 75.0%). The multivariate analysis demonstrated that MHV tributary reconstructions were an independent beneficiary prognostic factor for OS(hazard ratio = 0.519, 95% CI: 0.282–0.954, P = 0.035). Biliary complications were significantly increased in recipients with MHV reconstruction(28.7% vs 11.6%, P = 0.027). Conclusions: MHV reconstruction ensured excellent outflow drainage and favored recipient outcome. The MHV tributaries(segments 5 and 8) should be reconstructed as much as possible to enlarge the hepatic vein anastomosis and reduce congestion.

Developing efficient and cost-effective electrode materials is of essential significance to advance various energy storage technologies,among which flexible supercapacitors hold great promise to meet the growing popularity of wearable ***,we report a homologous strategy to parallelly synthesize phosphorus-doped ZnCo_(2)O_(4)(P-ZnCo_(2)O_(4)@NCC)and nitrogen-doped carbon(NC@NCC)both derived from ZnCo-metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)precursors in-situ grown on dopamine-modified carbon cloth(NCC)as conductive ***,the as-obtained P-ZnCo_(2)O_(4)@NCC can achieve a high specific capacitance of 2702.2 mF∙cm^(−2)at 1 mA∙cm^(−2)with the capacitance retention rate exceeding 70.6%at 10 mA∙cm^(−2),demonstrating the outstanding rate ***,flexible solid-state hybrid supercapacitors,using P-ZnCo_(2)O_(4)@NCC as positive electrode and NC@NCC as negative electrode,are assembled with poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/KOH as the gel electrolyte,which deliver the energy density of 11.9 mWh∙cm^(−3)when the power density reaches up to 47.3 mW∙cm^(−3).In addition,85.15%of the initial specific capacitance is maintained after 5000 continuous cycles and no obvious capacitance decay is observed under different bending conditions,revealing the excellent cycling stability and *** a proof-of-concept demonstration,two as-assembled hybrid supercapacitors connected in series can light up a red light-emitting diode(LED)under the bending angle of 180°,heralding the feasibility for broad practical applications.

AIM:To evaluate effects of endogenous dopamine induced by low concentration atropine eye drops on choroidal neovascularization(CNV)in high myopia ***:The C57BL/6J mice were deprived of the right eye for 4wk,and the high myopia was diagnosed by optometry,the diopter was less than-6.00 D,and CNV was induced by 532 nm *** changes of dopamine D1 receptor(DRD1),dopamine D2 receptor(DRD2),and vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGFA)were detected by Western blot technology at 0.5,1,2h,and 7d after 0.01%,0.05%,and 0.1%atropine eye drops,respectively,the area of CNV was ***:Significant increases were observed on the expression of DRD2 in mouse high myopia model at 0.5,1,2h,7d with 0.05%and 0.1%atropine eye drops(P<0.05).Significant decreases were observed on the expression of DRD1 and VEGFA in mouse high myopia model at 0.5,1,2h,7d with 0.05%and 0.1%atropine eye drops(P<0.05).The area of CNV induced by laser in the drug-treated group was significantly smaller than that in the control group,and the higher the concentration,the more significant the inhibitory effect(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The 0.01%,0.05%,0.1%atropine eye drops can decrease the level of VEGFA and inhibit high myopia CNV indirectly by up-regulating the level of DRD2 and down-regulating the level of DRD1,and the effect of 0.05%and 0.1%atropine eye drops is more significant.
