RNA helicases participate in nearly all aspects of RNA metabolism by rearranging RNAs or RNA–protein complexes in an adenosine triphosphatedependent *** to the large RNA helicase families in plants,the precise roles of many RNA helicases in plant physiology and development remain to be ***,we show that mutations in maize(Zea mays)DEAD-box RNA helicase48(Zm RH48)impair the splicing of mitochondrial introns,mitochondrial complex biosynthesis,and seed *** of Zm RH48 function severely arrested embryogenesis and endosperm development,leading to defective kernel *** RH48 is targeted to mitochondria,where its deficiency dramatically reduced the splicing efficiency of five cis-introns(nad5 intron 1;nad7 introns 1,2,and 3;and ccm Fc intron 1)and one trans-intron(nad2 intron 2),leading to lower levels of mitochondrial complexes I andⅢ.Zm RH48 interacts with two unique pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR)proteins,PPR-SMR1 and SPR2,which are required for the splicing of over half of all mitochondrial ***-SMR1 interacts with SPR2,and both proteins interact with P-type PPR proteins and Zm-m CSF1 to facilitate intron *** results suggest that Zm RH48 is likely a component of a splicing complex and is critical for mitochondrial complex biosynthesis and seed development.

The electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction(e-NRR)is a promising alternative method for the Haber–Bosch ***,it still faces many challenges in searching for high activity,stability,and selectivity catalysts and ascertaining the catalytic mechanism with complete ***,a series of graphene-based N-bridged dual-atom catalysts(M1-N-M2/NC)are systematically investigated via first-principle calculation and a high-throughput screening *** result unveils that N_(2) adsorption on M1-N-M2/NC in bridge-on adsorption mode can effectively break the scaling relationship on single-atom catalysts(SACs).Moreover,V-N-Ru/NC and V-N-Os/NC are systematically screened out as promising e-NRR catalysts,with extremely low limiting potentials of-0.20 and-0.18 V,***,the adsorption site competition between*N_(2) and*H,as well as the competitive twin reactions of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)on intermediates(N_(n)H_(m))during the e-NRR process,is systematically evaluated to form a remodeling insight for the reactions in mechanism,and the e-NRR of new proposed dual-atom catalysts(DACs)is strategically optimized for its high-efficiency performance potential via our remolding insight in e-NRR *** work provides new ideas and insights for the design and mechanism of e-NRR catalysts and an effective strategy for rapidly screening highly efficient e-NRR catalysts.

Fast charging is restricted primarily by the risk of lithium(Li)plating,a side reaction that can lead to the rapid capacity decay and dendrite-induced thermal runaway of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).Investigation on the intrinsic mechanism and the position of Li plating is crucial to improving the fast rechargeability and safety of ***,we investigate the Li plating behavior in porous electrodes under the restricted transport of Li^(+).Based on the theoretical model,it can be concluded that the Li plating on the anodeseparator interface(ASI)is thermodynamically feasible and kinetically ***,the prior deposition of metal Li on the ASI rather than the anode-current collector interface(ACI)is verified *** order to facilitate the transfer of Li^(+)among the electrode and improve the utilization of active materials without Li plating,a bilayer asymmetric anode composed of graphite and hard carbon(GH)is *** and simulation results suggest that the GH hybrid electrode homogenizes the lithiated-rate throughout the electrode and outperforms the pure graphite electrode in terms of the rate performance and inhibition of Li *** work provides new insights into the behavior of Li plating and the rational design of electrode structure.

In land plants,cytidine-to-uridine(C-to-U)editing of organellar transcripts is an important posttranscriptional process,which is considered to remediate DNA genetic mutations to restore the coding of functional *** repeat(PPR)proteins have key roles in C-to-U *** to its large number,however,the biological functions of many PPR proteins remain to be *** characterizing a small kernel4(smk4)mutant,here we report the function of Smk4 and its role in maize growth and *** mutation of Smk4 slows plant growth and development,causing small plants,delayed flowering time,and small *** revealed that Smk4 encodes a new E-subclass PPR protein,and localization indicated that SMK4 is exclusively localized in *** of Smk4 function abolishes C-to-U editing at position 1489 of the cytochrome c oxidase1(cox1)transcript,causing an amino acid change from serine to proline at 497 in ***1 is a core component of mitochondrial complex ***,complex IV activity is reduced in the smk4,along with drastically elevated expression of alternative oxidases(AOX).These results indicate that SMK4 functions in the C-to-U editing of cox1-1489,and this editing is crucial for mitochondrial complex IV activity,plant growth,and kernel development in maize.

Lithiated organic cathode materials show great promise for practical applications in lithium-ion batteries owing to their Li-reservoir characteristics. However, the reported lithiated organic cathode materials still suffer from strict synthesis conditions and low capacity. Here we report a thermal intermolecular rearrangement method without organic solvents to prepare dilithium hydroquinone（Li2Q）, which delivers a high capacity of 323 m Ah g-1with an average discharge voltage of 2.8 V. The reversible conversion between orthorhombic Li2Q and monoclinic benzoquinone during charge/discharge processes is revealed by in situ X-ray diffraction. Theoretical calculations show that the unique Li–O channels in Li2Q are beneficial for Li+ion diffusion. In situ ultraviolet-visible spectra demonstrate that the dissolution issue of Li2Q electrodes during charge/discharge processes can be handled by separator modification, resulting in enhanced cycling stability. This work sheds light on the synthesis and battery application of high-capacity lithiated organic cathode materials.

Mutations in mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)are maternally inherited and have the potential to cause severe *** replacement therapies,including spindle,polar body,and pronuclear transfers,are promising strategies for preventing the hereditary transmission of mtDNA *** pronuclear transfer has been used to generate mitochondrial replacement mouse models and human embryos,its application in non-human primates has not been previously *** this study,we successfully generated four healthy cynomolgus monkeys(Macaca fascicularis)via female pronuclear *** individuals all survived for more than two years and exhibited minimal mtDNA carryover(3.8%–6.7%),as well as relatively stable mtDNA heteroplasmy dynamics during *** successful establishment of this nonhuman primate model highlights the considerable potential of pronuclear transfer in reducing the risk of inherited mtDNA diseases and provides a valuable preclinical research model for advancing mitochondrial replacement therapies in humans.

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that actinomyces phage R4 integrase Sre protein efficiently mediate site-specific recombination in Escherichia coll. An intramolecular recombination assay system in E. coli was constructed. The plasmid pBZP contains attB and attP sites in direct orientation flanking a lacZ gene. When pBZP was introduced into E. coli cells, in which the plasmid pSREA containing sre gene was resident, Sre protein catalyzed integration of attP into attB site, resulting in excision of the lacZ gene. This integration changed bacteria colonies from blue to white on agar plates containing X-Gal, which showed that the lacZ was removed. The integrant DNAs were identified by enzyme digestion, PCR and DNA sequencing. The minimal sizes of attB and attP were 50 bp and 47 bp for 100% recombination efficiency. The phage recombinase Sre efficiently integrated attP into attB site to create attR and attL in E. coli host environment without Streptomyces specific cofactors. This intrmolecular assay system is a simple and efficient system for Sre-mediated recombination in E. coll.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have seen remarkable progress in recent years,largely attributed to various additives that enhance both efficiency and *** these,fluorine-containing additives have garnered significant interest because of their unique hydrophobic properties,effective defect passivation,and regulation capability on the crystallization ***,a targeted structural approach to design such additives is necessary to further enhance the performance of ***,fluoroalkyl ethylene with different fluoroalkyl chain lengths(CH_(2)CH(CF_(2))nCF_(3),n=3,5,and 7)as liquid additives is used to investigate influences of fluoroalkyl chain lengths on crystallization regulation and defect *** findings indicate that optimizing the quantity of F groups plays a crucial role in regulating the electron cloud distribution within the additive *** optimization fosters strong hydrogen bonds and coordination effects with FA+and uncoordinated Pb^(2+),ultimately enhancing crystal quality and device ***,1H,1H,2H-perfluoro-1-hexene(PF_(3))with the optimal number of F presents the most effective modulation effect.A PSC utilizing PF_(3)achieves an efficiency of 24.05%,and exhibits exceptional stability against humidity and thermal *** work sheds light on the importance of tailored structure designs in additives for achieving high-performance PSCs.

The increase in payload capacity of trucks has heightened the demand for cost-effective yet high performance brake *** this work,the thermal fatigue and wear of compacted graphite iron brake discs were investigated,aiming to provide an experimental foundation for achieving a balance between their thermal and mechanical *** graphite iron brake discs with different tensile strengths,macrohardnesses,specific heat capacities and thermal diffusion coefficients were produced by changing the proportion and strength of *** peak temperature,pressure load and friction coefficient of compacted graphite iron brake discs were analyzed through inertia friction *** morphology of thermal cracks and 3D profiles of the worn surfaces were also *** is found that the thermal fatigue of compacted graphite iron discs is determined by their thermal properties.A compacted graphite iron with the highest specific heat capacity and thermal diffusion coefficient exhibits optimal thermal fatigue *** of the matrix at low temperatures significantly weakens the function of alloy strengthening in hindering the propagation of thermal *** the reduced hardness,increasing the ferrite proportion can mitigate wear loss resulting from low disc temperatures and the absence of abrasive wear.

The evolution of solar magnetic fields is significant for understanding and predicting solar *** our knowledge of solar magnetic fields largely depends on the photospheric magnetic *** this paper,based on the spherical harmonic expansion of the photospheric magnetic field observed by Wilcox Solar Observatory,we analyze the time series of spherical harmonic coefficients and predict Sunspot Number as well as synoptic maps for Solar Cycle *** find that solar maximum years have complex short-period disturbances,and the time series of coefficient g_(7)~0 is nearly in-phase with Sunspot Number,which may be related to solar meridional *** Long Short-Term Memory networks(LSTM),our prediction suggests that the maximum of Solar Cycle 25 is likely to occur in June 2024 with an error of 8 months,the peak sunspot number may be 166.9±22.6,and the next solar minimum may occur around January *** incorporating Empirical Mode Decomposition,we enhance our forecast of synoptic maps truncated to Order 5,validating their relative *** prediction not only addresses a gap in forecasting the global distribution of the solar magnetic field but also holds potential reference value for forthcoming solar observation plans.
