Distributions and risk assessment of heavy metals in solid waste in lead-zinc mining areas and across the soil, water body, sediment and agricultural product ecosystem in their surrounding areas

To identify the root causes of heavy metal contamination in soils as well as prevent and control such contamination from its sources,this study explored the accumulation patterns and ecological risks of heavy metals like Cd and Pb in solid waste in mining areas and across the water body,sediment,soil and agricultural product ecosystem surrounding the mining *** on the residual solid waste samples in lead-zinc deposits in a certain area of Guizhou Province,along with samples of topsoils,irrigation water,river sediments,and crops from surrounding *** study analyzed the distributions of eight heavy metals,i.e.,Cd,As,Cr,Hg,Pb,Zn,Cu,and Ni,in the samples through field surveys and sample ***,this study assessed the contamination levels and ecological risks of heavy metals in soils,sediments,and agricultural products using methods such as the single-factor index,Nemerow composite index,and potential ecological risk *** results indicate that heavy metals in the solid waste samples all exhibited concentrations exceeding their risk screening values,with 60%greater than their risk intervention *** soils and sediments demonstrate slight and moderate comprehensive ecological risks of heavy *** single-factor potential ecological risks of heavy metals in both the soil and sediment samples decreased in the order of Hg,Cd,Pb,As,Cu,Zn,Cr,and Ni,suggesting the same sources of heavy metals in the soils and *** of the agricultural product samples exhibited over-limit concentrations of heavy metals dominated by Cd,Pb,Ni,and Cr,excluding Hg and *** agricultural product assessment using the Nemerow composite index reveals that 35%of the agricultural product samples reached the heavy metal contamination level,implying that the agricultural products from farmland around the solid waste dumps have been contaminated with heavy *** eight heavy metals in the soil,sediment,and agricultural product samples manifested hig

Hydroxychloroquine(HCQ)is widely used in the treatment of autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)and rheumatoid arthritis,and in recent years it has also been used in diseases such as cancer,neurodegenerative diseases,metabolic diseases,and microbial infections.(1)Due to the complex pharmacokinetic characteristics of HCQ,overdose or long-term use of the drug will lead to accumulation in the tissue of organism,and severe HCQ-related retinal toxicity may occur.A cohort study in America showes that after 10 and 15 years of HCQ use,the incidence of HCQ retinopathy will be 2.5%and 8.6%,respectively.(2)The clinical manifestations of HCQ retinopathy are various,mainly photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)defects,some combined with cystoid macular edema(CME),and ireversible central vision loss.

Efficacy and Safety of Zihua Wenfei Zhisou Granule in Treatment of Postinfectious Cough: A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Phase Ⅱ Clinical Trial

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine(CM) Zihua Wenfei Zhisou Granule(ZWZG) in postinfectious cough(PIC) patients with CM syndrome of wind-cold invading Fei(Lung,WCIF). Methods: This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled phase Ⅱclinical trial. PIC patients with WCIF syndrome were recruited from the Respiratory Departments in 6 hospitals across China between March 2019 and December 2020. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to group A(ZWZG-matched placebo 15 g), group B(active ZWZG 15 g), and group C(active ZWZG 10 g plus ZWZGmatched placebo 5 g) in a 1:1:1 ratio. All medications were taken orally 3 times daily for 14 consecutive days. The primary outcomes were cough relief rate and cough disappearance rate. The secondary outcomes included time to cough relief, time to cough disappearance, and changes in cough symptom score(CSS), cough Visual Analog Scale(VAS) value, Cough-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire(CQLQ) score, and CM syndrome score from baseline(day 0) to post-treatment(day 14). Adverse events(AEs) in each group were recorded. Results: A total of 198 patients were included in the full analysis set(FAS) and safety analysis set(SS), while 183 were enrolled in the per-protocol analysis set(PPS). In the FAS population, the cough relief rate was 47.76%, 90.77% and 84.85%in groups A, B, and C, respectively;while the cough disappearance rate was 31.34%, 72.31% and 68.18%,respectively. The cough relief rates and cough disappearance rates in groups B and C were significantly higher than group A(P<0.0001). Both the median time to cough relief and cough disappearance in groups B and C were shorter than group A(P<0.0001). Compared with group A, groups B and C showed significantly greater improvements from baseline to post-treatment in CSS during daytime and nighttime as well as VAS(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in changes from baseline to post-treatment in CQLQ and CM syndrome

Adriamycin induces H2AX phosphorylation in human spermatozoa

Aim： To investigate whether adriamycin induces DNA damage and the formation of γH2AX （the phosphorylated form of histone H2AX） foci in mature spermatozoa. Methods： Human spermatozoa were treated with adriamycin at different concentrations, γH2AX was analyzed by immunofluorescent staining and flow cytometry and doublestrand breaks （DSB） were detected by the comet assay. Results： The neutral comet assay revealed that the treatment with adriamycin at 2 μg/mL for different times （0.5, 2, 8 and 24 h）, or for 8 h at different concentrations （0,4, 2 and 10 μg/mL）, induced significant DSB in spermatozoa. Immunofluorent staining and flow cytometry showed that the expression of γH2AX was increased in a dose-dependent and time-dependant manner after the treatment of adriamycin. Adriamycin also induced the concurrent appearance of DNA maintenance/repair proteins RAD50 and 53BP 1 with γH2AX in spermatozoa. Wortmannin, an inhibitor of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase （PI3K） family, abolished the co-appearance of these two proteins with γH2AX. Conclusion： Human mature spermatozoa have the same response to DSB-induced H2AX phosphorylation and subsequent recruitment of DNA maintenance/ repair proteins as somatic cells.

As important precursors of ozone(O_(3))and secondary organic aerosol(SOA),reactive aromatic hydrocarbons(AHs)have typically been classified as anthropogenic air ***,biogenic emission can also be a potential source of atmospheric ***,field observations in a eutrophic lake were combined with laboratory incubation experiments to investigate the biogenic AH *** work showed that the water-air fluxes of AHs measured at sites with high cyanobacteria abundance could reach an order of magnitude greater than those at sites with low cyanobacteria abundance,suggesting that cyanobacteria could be the important contributor to measured *** incubation experiments further confirmed the AH emission of cyanobacteria and revealed that the emission could change significantly over the lifespan of cyanobacteria and varied to their growing *** combining field observations and laboratory incubation experiments,it has been suggested that the emission of different AH species from cyanobacteria could be modulated by variable biogeochemical mechanisms and that the biochemical process of toluene could be different from that of other *** study investigates AH emissions from inland aquatic ecosystem and suggests that biogenic emission could be a potential source of atmospheric AHs.

16.48% Efficient solution-processed CIGS solar cells with crystal growth and defects engineering enabled by Ag doping strategy

Solution-processed Cu(In,Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS) solar cells suffer from serious carrier recombination and power conversion efficiency(PCE) loss because of the poor film properties and easy formation of ***, we propose Ag&Se co-selenization strategy to enhance the crystallization and passivate harmful defects of the CIGS films. The formation of Ag-Se phase during the selenization process enables the formation of large grains and suppresses the deep level defects. It is found that Ag doping can enlarge the depletion region width, lower the Urbach energy and prolong the carrier lifetime. As a result, a champion solution-processed CIGS solar cell presents a high efficiency of 16.48% with the highly improved opencircuit voltage(VOC) of 662 m V and fill factor(FF) of 75.8%. This work provides an efficient strategy to prepare high quality solution-processed CIGS films for high-performance CIGS solar cells.

Axial emission characteristics of an ionic liquid electrospray thruster with a circular emitter

Ionic Liquid Electrospray Thrusters(ILETs)are well suited for micro-nano satellite applications due to their small size,low power consumption,and high specific ***,the limited thrust of a single-emitter ILET restricts its use in space *** optimize the performance of ILETs and make them suitable for a wider range of space missions,we designed a Circular-emitter ILET(CILET)to convert a one-dimensional(point)emission into a twodimensional(line)*** CILET can self-organize multiple Taylor cones *** cones were photographed and the axial emission currents were measured under different voltage and pressure difference conditions with a CILET experimental *** emission can be divided into two stable states and one unstable state based on the flow and current *** current in Stable state Ⅰ increases non-linearly with the voltage,while that in Stable state Ⅱ is nearly linear with respect to the *** number of cones increases with the voltage in stable states,while the cones become short and crowded under high-voltage *** variation law of the number of cones can be explained with the self-organization *** variation in the current exhibits a good correlation with the number of *** study demonstrates the feasibility of circular emitters and experimentally indicates that the emission current is improved by approximately two orders of magnitude compared to that of a single capillary.

Associations of Prepregnancy Body Mass Index,Gestational Weight Gain,and Intelligence in Offspring:A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Objective:Increasing evidences have shown that prepregnancy maternal weight and gestational weight gain(GWG)may associate with offspring’s ***,the effects of prepregnancy maternal overweight,obesity,and excessive GWG on offspring’s intelligence remain *** meta-analysis aimed to re-assess the association between prepregnancy body mass index(BMI),GWG,and children’s ***:We systematically searched multiple databases,including PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,and Ovid Medline,from their inception through February *** assessing the association between prepregnancy BMI or GWG and children’s intelligence were further screened manually before final *** that analyzed the association between prepregnancy BMI or GWG and intelligence of offspring were included,and we used the Mantel-Haenszel fixed-effects method to compute the weighted mean difference(WMD)and 95%confidence interval(CI)of each ***:A total of 12 articles were included in this systematic review,while six of them in the *** was a significant full-scale IQ reduction in children born from overweight and obese mothers,with WMDs of-3.08(95%CI:-4.02,-2.14)and-4.91(95%CI:-6.40,-3.42),*** with control group,the WMDs for performance and verbal intelligence quotient(IQ)were decreased in overweight and obesity ***,we observed no association between children’s full-scale IQ and excessive GWG with WMD of-0.14(95%CI:-0.92,0.65).Conclusions:Women’s prepregnancy overweight and obesity adversely associate with children’s intelligence but no association with excessive *** study suggests that further researches focusing on the effect of prepregnancy maternal health on offspring’s intelligence development are needed.

Boosted solar water oxidation steered by atomically precise alloy nanocluster

Atomically precise metal nanoclusters(NCs)have been deemed as a new generation of metal nanomaterials in the field of solar energy conversion due to their unique atomic stacking manner,quantum confinement effects,light-harvesting capability and multitude of active ***,wide-spread application of monometallic NCs is blocked by the ultrashort carrier lifespan,uncontrollable charge transport pathway,and light-induced poor stability,impeding the construction of robust and stable metal NC-based ***,we report the fabrication of stable alloy(Au_(1-x)Pt_(x))NCs photosystem,for which tailor-made negatively charged l-glutathione(GSH)-capped Au_(1-x)Pt_(x)NCs as the building blocks are controllably deposited on the Bi VO_(4)(BVO)by a self-assembly approach for steering enhanced light absorption and interfacial charge transfer over alloy NCs-based photoanodes(Au_(1-x)Pt_(x)/BVO).The self-assembled Au_(1-x)Pt_(x)/BVO composite photoanode exhibits the significantly enhanced photoelectrochemical water oxidation performances compared with pristine BVO and Au_(x)/BVO photoanodes,which is caused by the Pt atom doping into the Au_(x)NCs for elevating photosensitivity and boosting the *** synergy of Au and Pt atoms in alloy NCs protects the gold core from rapid oxidation,improving the photostability and accelerating the surface charge transfer *** work would significantly inspire ongoing interest in unlocking the charge transport characteristics of atomically precise alloy NCs for solar energy conversion.
