The white poplar(Populus alba) is widely distributed in Central Asia and Europe. There are natural populations of white poplar in Irtysh River basin in China. It also can be cultivated and grown well in northern China. In this study, we sequenced the genome of P. alba by single-molecule real-time technology. De novo assembly of P. alba had a genome size of 415.99 Mb with a contig N50 of 1.18 Mb. A total of 32,963 protein-coding genes were identified. 45.16% of the genome was annotated as repetitive elements. Genome evolution analysis revealed that divergence between P. alba and Populus trichocarpa(black cottonwood)occurred ～5.0 Mya(3.0, 7.1). Fourfold synonymous third-codon transversion(4 DTV) and synonymous substitution rate(ks)distributions supported the occurrence of the salicoid WGD event(～ 65 Mya). Twelve natural populations of P. alba in the Irtysh River basin in China were sequenced to explore the genetic diversity. Average pooled heterozygosity value of P. alba populations was 0.170±0.014, which was lower than that in Italy(0.271±0.051) and Hungary(0.264±0.054). Tajima's D values showed a negative distribution, which might signify an excess of low frequency polymorphisms and a bottleneck with later expansion of *** populations examined.

A sand culture experiment was conducted to determine the effects of different seawater (5% and 10%) treatments on plant growth,inorganic ions,indole alkaloid concentrations and yields of Catharanthus roseus,in an effort to increase the alkaloid yield by artificial *** total fresh and dry weights and tissue K + concentrations decreased,but Na + concentrations increased in the plant roots,stems and leaves of *** under seawater stress as compared to the *** concentrations and yields of vindoline,catharanthine,vinblastine and vincristine increased under seawater *** concentrations and yields of these alkaloids were higher in 5% seawater-treated plants than those in the 10% seawater-treated *** the industrial production,5% seawater treatments could reduce the cost of producing *** the control plants,the highest alkaloid concentrations reached a peak at 100 days after planting,suggesting that plant harvest must be optimized in terms of growth duration.

Carbonaceous aerosol,including organic carbon(OC)and elemental carbon(EC),has significant influence on human health,air quality and climate *** measurement of carbonaceous aerosol is essential to reduce the uncertainty of radiative forcing estimation and source *** accurate separation of OC and EC is controversial due to the charring of ***,the development of reference materials(RM)for the validation of OC/EC separation is an important basis for further *** RMs were mainly based on ambient air sampling,which could not provide traceability of OC and EC *** develop traceable RMs with known OC/EC contents,our study applied an improved aerosol generation and mixing technique,providing uniform deposition of particles on quartz *** generate OC aerosol with similar pyrolytic property of ambient aerosol,both water soluble organic carbon(WSOC)and water insoluble organic carbon(WIOC)were used,and amorphous carbon was selected for EC *** RMs were analyzed using different *** homogeneity within the filter was validated,reaching below 2%.The long-term stability of RMs has been validated with RSD ranged from 1.7%–3.2%.Good correlationwas observed between nominal concentration of RMswithmeasured concentration by two protocols,while the difference of EC concentration was within 20%.The results indicated that the newly developed RMs were acceptable for the calibration of OC and EC,which could improve the accuracy of carbonaceous aerosol ***,the laboratory-generated EC-RMs could be suitable for the calibration of equivalent BC concentration by Aethalometers.

Here,through single-molecule real-time sequencing,we present a high-quality genome sequence of the Japanese larch(Larix kaempferi),a conifer species with great value for wood production and ecological *** assembled genome is 10.97 Gb in size,harboring 45,828 protein-coding *** the genome,66.8%consists of repeat sequences,of which long terminal repeat retrotransposons are dominant and make up 69.86%.We find that tandem duplications have been responsible for the expansion of genes involved in transcriptional regulation and stress responses,unveiling their crucial roles in adaptive *** transcriptome analysis reveals that lignin content in *** is mainly determined by the process of monolignol *** expression values of six genes(LkC OMT7,LkC OMT8,LkL AC23,LkL AC102,LkP RX148,and LkP RX166)have significantly positive correlations with lignin *** results indicated that the increased expression of these six genes might be responsible for the high lignin content of the larches’***,this study provides new genome resources for investigating the evolution and biological function of conifer trees,and also offers new insights into wood properties of larches.

Arsenic(As)methylation in soils affects the environmental behavior of As,excessive accumulation of dimethylarsenate(DMA)in rice plants leads to straighthead disease and a serious drop in crop *** the mobility and transformation of methylated arsenic in redox-changing paddy fields is crucial for food ***,soils including unarsenic contaminated(N-As),low-arsenic(L-As),medium-arsenic(M-As),and high-arsenic(H-As)soils were incubated under continuous anoxic,continuous oxic,and consecutive anoxic/oxic treatments respectively,to profile arsenic methylating process and microbial species involved in the As *** anoxic-oxic(A-O)treatment,methylated arsenic was significantly increased once oxygen was introduced into the incubation *** methylated arsenic concentrations were up to 2-24 times higher than those in anoxic(A),oxic(O),and oxic-anoxic(O-A)treatments,under which arsenic was methylated slightly and then decreased in all four As concentration *** fact,the most plentiful arsenite S-adenosylmethionine methyltransferase genes(arsM)contributed to the increase in As ***(40.8%-62.4%),Firmicutes(3.5%-15.7%),and Desulfobacterota(5.3%-13.3%)were the major microorganisms related to this *** microbial increasedmarkedly and played more important roles after oxygen was introduced,indicating that they were potential keystone microbial groups for As methylation in the alternating anoxic(flooding)and oxic(drainage)*** novel findings provided newinsights into the reoxidation-driven arsenic methylation processes and the model could be used for further risk estimation in periodically flooded paddy fields.

High-energy-density（HED） fuel（*** used JP-10 and RJ-4）,featuring compact 3D polycyclic structure with high strain,is of critical importance for volume-limited military aircraft,since their high density and combustion heat can provide more propulsion *** reduce the reliance on petroleum source,it is highly desirable to develop renewable alternatives for the production of strained polycyclic HED fuel,but which remains a big challenge because of the inaccessibility caused by the high strain,We herein demonstrate a three-step catalytic route towards highly strained C17and C18spirofuel with biomass *** process includes catalytic aldol condensation of renewable cyclohexanone/cyclopentanone with benzaldehyde,catalytic spiro Diels-Alder（D-A） reaction of aldol adduct with isoprene,and catalytic *** key spiro D-A reaction is enabled by the catalysis of heterogeneous Lewis acidic ionic *** chloroaluminate IL,formed by benign urea and AICl3,exhibits good catalytic performance and reusability for this *** eventual hydrodeoxygenation（HDO）over Pd/C and H-Y produces strained tricyclic spirofuel with density>0.93 g/mL,combustion heat>41 MJ/L and freezing point <-40℃,which are better than the properties of tactical fuel ***,it is anticipated that the as-prepared renewable fuels have the potential to replace traditional petroleum-derived HED fuels.

Lithium argyrodites with high ionic conductivity and low cost are considered as one of the most prospective solid electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium ***,the poor chemical stability and compatibility with lithium metal limit their ***,Li_(5.4)PS_(4.4)Cl1.4I0.2solid electrolyte with high ionic conductivity of 11.49 m S ccm^(-1)and improved chemical stability is synthesized by iodine *** ultra-thin Li_(5.4)PS_(4.4)Cl_(1.4)I_(0.2)membrane with thickness of 10μm can be obtained by wet coating process,exhibiting a high ionic conductivity of 2.09 mS ccm^(-1)and low areal resistance of 1.17Ωcm^(-2).Moreover,iodine doping could in-situ form LiI at the lithium/electrolyte interface and improve the critical current density of Li_(5.4)PS_(4.4)Cl_(1.6)from 0.8 to 1.35 mA cm^(-2).The resultant LiCoO_(2)/Li_(5.4)PS_(4.4)Cl_(1.4)I_(0.2)/Li battery shows excellent cycling stability at 1 C,with a reversible specific capacity of 110.1 mA h g^(-1)and a retention of 80.5% after 1000 *** addition,the assembled LiCoO_(2)/Li_(5.4)PS_(4.4)Cl_(1.4)I_(0.2)membrane/Li pouch cell delivers an initial discharge capacity of 110.4 mA h g^(-1)and 80.5% capacity retention after 100 cycles.

Expression of Annexin-1 in patients with endometriosis

Background Annexin-1 was identified as an endometriosis-related protein by comparative proteomics in previous study. As an endogeneous anti-inflammatory mediator, Annexin-1 has been shown to regulate the immune response, cell proliferation and apoptosis. To investigate whether Annexin-1 is involved in the pathogenesis of endometriosis, we examined the expression of Annexin-1 in eutopic endometrium of women with or without endometriosis, and detected its expression in peritoneal fluids of those with endometriosis. Methods Eutopic endometrium samples from twenty-five women with endometriosis and those from sixteen age-matched women without endometriosis were collected. Peritoneal fluids were obtained from ten patients with endometriosis. The expression of Annexin-1 protein in eutopic endometrium was detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting, and mRNA detected by real-time PCR. Annexin-1 protein in the peritoneal fluids was detected by Western blotting.Results Annexin-1 mRNA and protein were overexpressed in eutopic endometrium of endometriosis without significant differences between the proliferative and secretory phase. Immunohistochemistry showed that Annexin-1 protein was expressed mainly in endometrial glandular celts throughout the menstrual cycle. Annexin-1 protein was detected in the peritoneal fluids of all the ten patients with endometriosis. Conclusions Annexin-1 is overexpressed in eutopic endometrium and presents in the peritoneal fluids of patients with endometriosis, and may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.

Both acceleration and pseudo-acceleration response spectra play important roles in structural seismic ***,only one of them is generally provided in most seismic ***,many studies have attempted to develop conversion models between the acceleration response spectrum(SA)and the pseudo-acceleration response spectrum(PSA).Our previous studies found that the relationship between SA and PSA is affected by magnitude,distance,and site ***,we developed an SA/PSA model incorporating these ***,this model is suitable for cases with small and moderate magnitudes and its accuracy is not good enough for cases with large *** paper aims to develop an efficient SA/PSA model by considering influences of magnitude,distance,and site class,which can be applied to cases not only with small or moderate magnitudes but also with large *** this purpose,regression analyses were conducted using 16,660 horizontal seismic records with a wider range of *** magnitude of these seismic records varies from 4 to 9 and the distances vary from 10 to 200 *** ground motions were recorded at 338 stations covering four site *** comparing them with existing models,it was found that the proposed model shows better accuracy for cases with any magnitudes,distances,and site classes considered in this study.
