DNA quadruplexes are nucleic acid conformations comprised of four strands.They are prevalent in human genomes and increasing efforts are being directed toward their engineering.Taking advantage of the programmability of Watson-Crick base-pairing and conjugation methodology of DNA with other molecules,DNA nanostructures of increasing complexity and diversified geometries have been artificially constructed since 1980s.In this review,we investigate the interweaving of natural DNA quadruplexes and artificial DNA nanostructures in the development of the ever-prosperous field of biosensing,highlighting their specific roles in the construction of biosensor,including recognition probe,signal probe,signal amplifier and support platform.Their implementation in various sensing scenes was surveyed.And finally,general conclusion and future perspective are discussed for further developments.

We formulate a system of integro-differential equations to model the dynamics of competition in a two-species community,in which the mortality,fertility and growth are sizedependent.Existence and uniqueness of nonnegative solutions to the system are analyzed.The existence of the stationary size distributions is discussed,and the linear stability is investigated by means of the semigroup theory of operators and the characteristic equation technique.Some sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability/instability of steady states are obtained.The resulting conclusion extends some existing results involving age-independent and age-dependent population models.

Environmental contamination such as soot particles and NO_(x)has aroused extensive attraction recently.However,the main challenge lies in the oxidation of soot at mild temperature with the assistance of NO_(x).here,a series of core-shell MnCeO_x catalysts were successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method and employed for low-temperature catalytic oxidation of soot in the presence of NO_(x).X-ray diffraction(XRD),inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),N_(2)adsorptio n/deso rption,H_(2)-tempe rature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPR),O_(2)-temperature programmed desorption(O_(2)-TPD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and Raman analyses were conducted for identifying the structure of prepared catalysts and investigating redox properties of the core-shell mixed oxide,which shows excellent performance for NO oxidation and the T_(50)about 350℃for soot oxidation.Besides,soot particle is oxided at 304℃in the presence of NO,while T_(50)augments up to 340℃in the absence of NO.In the NO_(x)assisted elimination cases of soot,NO_(2)generated from NO in emission gas is generally reckoned as a facilitator which significantly reduces ignition temperature of soot particles.Possible catalytic mechanism over core-shell MnCeO_(x)catalysts is also proposed in this paper.

Advances in microbiology rely on innovations in technology. Droplet microfluidics, as a versatile and powerful technique that allows high-throughput generation and manipulation of subnanoliter volume droplets, has become an indispensable tool shifting experimental paradigms in microbiology. Droplet microfluidics has opened new avenues to various microbiological research, from resolving single-cell heterogeneity to investigating spatiotemporal dynamics of microbial communities, from precise quantitation of microbiota to systematic decipherment of microbial interactions, and from isolating rare and uncultured microbes to improving genetic engineered strains. In this review, we present recent advances of droplet microfluidics in various fields of microbiology: i) microbial cultivation, ii) microorganism detection and characterization, iii) antibiotic susceptibility testing, iv) microbial interactions, v) microbial biotechnology.We also provide our perspectives on the challenges and future directions for droplet microfluidic-based microbiology research.

Hydrothermal stability is crucial for the practical application of deNO_(x)catalyst on diesel vehicles,for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x)with NH_(3)(NH_(3)-SCR).SnO_(2)-based materials possess superior hydrothermal stability,which is attractive for the development of NH_(3)-SCR catalyst.In this work,a series of Ce-Nb/SnO_(2)catalysts,with Ce and Nb loading on SnO_(2)support,were prepared by impregnation method.It was found that,the NH_(3)-SCR activities and hydrothermal stabilities of the Ce-Nb/SnO_(2)catalysts significantly varied with the impregnation sequences,and the Ce-Nb(f)/SnO_(2) catalyst that firstly impregnated Nb and then impregnated Ce exhibited the best performance.The characterization results revealed that CeNb(f)/SnO_(2)possessed appropriate acidity and redox capability.Furthermore,the strong synergistic effect between Nb and Sn species stabilized the structure and maintained the dispersion of acid sites.This study may provide a new understanding for the effect of impregnation sequence on activity and hydrothermal stability and a new environmental-friendly NH_(3)-SCR catalyst with potential applications for NO_(x)removal from diesel and hydrogenfueled engines.

Efficient Pt/KFI zeolite catalysts for the selective catalytic reduction of NOxby hydrogen

Aiming at purification of NO_(x)from hydrogen internal combustion engines(HICEs),the hydrogen selective catalytic reduction(H_(2)-SCR)reaction was investigated over a series of Pt/KFI zeolite catalysts.H_(2)can readily reduce NO_(x)to N_(2)and N_(2)O while O_(2)inhibited the deNO_(x)efficiency by consuming the reductant H_(2).The Pt/KFI zeolite catalysts with Pt loading below 0.1wt.% are optimized H_(2)-SCR catalysts due to its suitable operation temperature window since high Pt loading favors the H_(2)-O_(2)reaction which lead to the insufficient of reactants.Compared to metal Pt^(0)species,Pt^(δ+)species showed lower activation energy of H_(2)-SCR reaction and thought to be as reasonable active sites.Further,Eley-Rideal(E-R)reaction mechanism was proposed as evidenced by the reaction orders in kinetic studies.Last,the optimized reactor was designed with hybrid Pt/KFI catalysts with various Pt loading which achieve a high NO_(x)conversion in a wide temperature range.
